We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our founder, Dr. Kathleen Hinderer. For many years, she worked tirelessly to bring comfort and healing to the clients at Michigan Abilities Center.

The MAC Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team is committed to providing high-quality, personalized, compassionate, and timely medical care to individuals with physical and cognitive impairments in a warm and friendly environment. Our goal is to restore maximal functional abilities and improve quality of life.

The Haven is a therapy center that uses animals on a farm to help people of all ages and abilities improve their quality of life, health, and wellbeing. The Haven was founded by Dr. Kathy and Steve Hinderer, who have over 35 years of experience in rehabilitation.

MAC Equine Assisted Therapy is dedicated to helping those with physical, mental, emotional, or learning challenges improve their physical and emotional well-being.

Fantastic experience: The horse rehabilitation side closed in 2020, the physiatrist side with Dr. Steven Hinderer remains open and is thriving! If you need a Pain Management doctor he’s the best! The office is now located at 23800 West Ten Mile in Southfield.

Fantastic experience: Great place to volunteer and learn leadership skills. The team is a lot of fun to work with and it's great exercise! I love that each client gets one on one attention. They even get to choose what music they want while riding. :) It's very rewarding to see the difference it makes and the joy it brings to each rider.

Fantastic experience: Despite being disabled, my wife brings the delight in riding, the volunteer horse walkers bring all of the devotion, support, and heart that she needs, and Kathy with her PhD behind her, provides the guidance and direction which is bringing increasing strength to my wife’s core, and strength to her spirit. Magical things can happen at this simple farm.
