Lowell General Hospital Pain Management Center: Reviews
Negative experience: ZERO Stars! Every appointment I pay my co-payment -- and then receive another hundreds of dollars bill -- total scam! I'm addressing this with the Insurance, and then a Lawyer!
Positive experience: Carol in the answering for appointment scheduling. This lady is so helpful and kind! I just wish there were more people so understanding as she. Thank you so much for going above and beyond to help me
Negative experience: Went to pain management as I didn’t want to take opiates anymore after being hit by multiple negligent drivers and I seen Dr Henkle. I have life long Injuries and had many surgeries including a fusion L5-S1. I was labeled a drug seeker even though I myself cut myself down on my pain meds to 1/8th and then they took me off my testosterone even though I’m diagnosed with very low testosterone due to very high stress of pain for many years. I was told to just try taking a swim. I was also seeing an doc for OMT therapy so he told me to just stick with her. I have a mostly paralyzed arm, so in short I guess he was suggesting to drown myself cuz I hand major PTSD and depression.
Negative experience: There is no parking available. Arrived at front desk 5 minutes prior to appointment time, as I'm standing there the physician walks up and says"is my 10oclock here?" So I speak and say "is her name Marylou because that's me and I could only just get a parking space in your lot." she says "oh" and walks away, then I find out that I have to be rescheduled after standing there for another 5 minutes and coming all this way and wasting gas. Heartless and unethical behavior. I tried calling twice to say that I was circling the parking lot for about 15 minutes and could not even get through to speak to anyone. Don't waste your time here because they don't care about you or your time.
Fantastic experience: I go here for SLE, Fibromyalgia, a spinal problem, and chronic migraines. Dr. Henkle is such a great Dr. He's super intelligent too (as are his NPs). Every person I encountered here has gone out of their way to be helpful to me. The staff is kind & exceptional. This pain center has helped me have a life back and I highly recommend them.
Negative experience: Late last December, I thought I tore a muscle in my left leg. After four visits to the ER (where they are loathe to give out painkillers) and a series of x-rays, the cause was determined to be spinal in nature. Some days, I had to use a cane to walk (I am 77). I finally got an appointment to the Pain Center on March 8th. I arrived at 7:30 for my 8 am appointment, did my paperwork, and paid my co-pay. I then waited until 9 am for a rather arrogant Dr. Benjamin Henkle to arrive, who gave me all of 10 minutes of his time (another patient was waiting). He felt the pain was caused by a pinched nerve, but refused to start a treatment plan without the results of an MR (which is still pending). My next appointment was to be by phone. I left still in pain and $40 poorer. Two weeks later, I am still angry about this. I will not return to the Center; instead, I have just started alternative treatment by acupuncture. (More on this later.)

Fantastic experience: Everyone here is so welcoming and an extreme comfort to me when I'm there. Every time I'm there they have made me feel safe and comforted me when I was feeling anxious during a procedure. They have been there for me any time I've needed them. I'm greatly appreciative of this team.

Negative experience: This place only wants your money. They do not care about the patient and do not listen to the patients concerns. Such a waste of time. If Google only allowed negative stars to give this place their proper grade.

Fantastic experience: Excellent staff and Doctors. They keep a tight ship as far as pain medicine goes but that just tells me I’m in good hands. I’ve been going to the clinic for close to five years now and would highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Extremely kind staff and excellent care. I’ve seen several other pain clinics in the past but have not gotten the quality of care I have with Dr. Adler. She is extremely attentive and goes out of her way to make sure you get the tests you need (despite insurance trying to deny them!)
Negative experience: The worst place that I have ever seen. I am an emergency patient and have been waiting for more than an hour. No response yet. Please, understand that, what the emergency is.

Negative experience: Please do not take your elderly parents to this clinic. If I could give zero stars I would. First of all the man at the front desk couldn't tell us where to go properly when I called for the name and address, he kept referring to a landmark that I didn't know and sounded like he was half asleep. They are not sensitive to patients that don't have access to computers to do things electronically. Had a paper form to fill out and they kept my 96 year old mother waiting while we got all kinds of insurance information and an adjusters name and phone # before they would see her. She has health insurance that they can bill if for some reason there is an issue. Then when we were all done Dr. Adler said she couldn't see her because she was going to lunch. My mother has been in pain for months and finally got this appt after waiting 2 weeks and they refused to see her. I understand that they need insurance info but my daughter was there with her and they refused to see her while my daughter filled out the paperwork. They never indicated that they wouldn't be able to see her until everything was completed during the half hour process of completing the paperwork. We could've rescheduled and brought the paperwork in fully completed at the next appt. I work for a doctors office and we would never refuse to see a pt based on the fact that paperwork was not completed, especially someone who is 96 years old and in pain. We will definitely be seeking care elsewhere and escalating this treatment up the chain of command. I guess they have so many patients that they don't need new ones.
Fantastic experience: I was very apprehensive since I do not like needles. These people were FANTASTIC. Very sympathetic and caring. There was discomfort but not really pain. I have to go back and I will not be worried. Dr Adler and her team did a FABULOUS job. No problem recommending them.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a needle infusion procedure. No visitors right now. They can walk you to elevator. You have to wear a mask. They did not take my temp upon entry. Got off elevator right into waiting room. Checked in. Waited less than 4 minutes. Place was clean.they sterilized items. I was led into a room to lock my coat. They ushered Into a exam room. Took all my vitals. Brought me back to room where procedure was going to be performed. I was treated with respect by everyone. The staff was professional, caring, calming
Thank you for sharing your experience at the Pain Center! We are glad our care team was prepared for your health needs.

Fantastic experience: Dr Henkle has been so kind and attentive to my needs. He understands the pain I'm having. I have had 3 injections from him all of which have helped me alot. The staff is professional and friendly. Extremely clean office!!!!!!
Thank you for this great review. We will be sure to share this with the staff at the Pain Center. Best wishes!
Negative experience: I honestly didnt want give them a star because they dont even deserve that! they dont care about there patients they only care about money my patient has been in severe pain with muscle spasms for a month mind you they are uncontrollable and hurt very bad! they also gossip about things in front of patients making them upset! no customer service what so ever! i would never go to this pain center for myself and I would never recommend it to anyone!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. Our team wants to ensure that care at the Pain Center is always advancing. Please reach out to our Patient Relations team at 978-937-6458 to share your experience to help us improve care.
Negative experience: If you have a death in the family and miss your appointment (even though you call the same morning to tell them) you still get charged a $25.00 missed appointment fee. No customer service skills from the receptionist, very rude
