¡Hola! Me llamo Maria.
¡Hola!
¡Hola!
Lowell General Hospital: Reviews
Negative experience: Honestly this used to be a great hospital at one point but now you have to be bleeding out or half dead to get any kind of help Honestly like I know what I have and explained it the many nurses and all i need is an antibiotic and then I can leave make room for the next person but been in the room just listening to most of the nurses gossiping about there lives and who's dating who and who's married like this is not even a hospital anymore...
Fantastic experience: Muy buen lugar buenas atención con profesionalidad y respeto me atendieron rápido
Negative experience: Staff were competent, but not reassuring.
Hello, thank you for leaving us a rating. We hold ourselves to a high standard of care, and would like to know what could be improved upon. You can reach our Patient Relations Department by emailing us directly at [email protected] if you would like to share any feedback with us.
Negative experience: Place is a cesspool.. Nurses and staff are rude and unprofessional. Rooms are filthy, blood and hair on the floor. Hair on sheet of the gurney that the nurse told me to lay on.. Nope. I have pictures and videos of it.. When I asked the charge nurse about the condition of the room, I got excuses and she started being rude. All I have to say to the Nurses there would you have put your loved one in that room. I don't think so.. This is after 5 hours of waiting.. THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT VETERANS OF THIS COUNTRY. VERY SAD...
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Quality and safety are our top priorities. Please call Patient Relations at 978.937.6458 so we can learn more about your experience and fully review what happened.
Negative experience: 6 hours in ER and never moved an inch. Saw another lady code that had been sitting waiting to be seen. Absolutely horrible experience
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with our team. We always strive to deliver quality and compassionate care for all our patients. You can reach our Patient Relations Department by calling 978.937.6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: I can't honestly give an accurate rating because i never stepped foot into your hospital. ( Unfortunately you can't post a "review" without giving a rating.) I'm just asking a question of concern. My sister was brought to your ER today and is going to be admitted so I looked up your reviews. I'm concerned about the many negative experiences. I was wondering if anything really was done about the unfortunate experiences. After looking at the dates, it doesn't seem like anything has changed. Are these reports truly addressed? TY for addressing and understanding my concern.
Fantastic experience: The ER staff under Dr. Scott Glazier exceeded my expectations with their prompt, thorough and compassionate care. My son suffered a traumatic eye injury from a hockey puck. Dr. Glazier took immediate action explaining the dangers of elevated intraocular pressure and the emergency procedure he performed to help lower his eye pressure and save his vision. All this was done and transferred in about 40-45 minutes upon arrival. We were then transferred via ambulance into Boston Children's for specialized care. Dr. Glazier followed up with me several times to see how my son was feeling and if his vision returned. He went above and beyond his calling. My family is grateful for expertise and care. The eye doctor at Children's told me that his incision was "text book" and we were very lucky he was there to quickly care for my son. Thank you is not enough. The entire team in the ED that night were amazing!
Thank you! We're always here to provide timely emergency care. Our team will love to hear about your kind words. Best wishes!
Positive experience: Nurses were great.

Negative experience: This has to be one of the worst hospitals I've ever been to. They just leave you in the hallway all night long and don't check up on you

Negative experience: It’s 4:23am. Got a call from my sons girlfriend her and my son were at Lowell General at 1:00am. I headed over to meet them. I arrived at 1:40am or so. He had a wristband on and they took a urine sample. It’s been almost 3 hours and here we sit. Everyone coming in after us is being taken. I get it…. Most severe take priority but I can hear what everyone is at the desk for. No smiles, just a generic greeting. The easiest way to put people at ease is the first person at the desk smile and say “How can I help you?” Or “What brings you in tonight?” Then folllow it with “I wanted to let you know… the Hospital is extremely busy and we will do our best to see as soon as we can… please be patient. We are doing the best we can”. I can tell from the responses on this page how my response is going to look before I get one. If this hospital really cared they would put a personal touch on every response. My dad was born in this hospital, I was born in this hospital, and so was my son….. it use to mean something more a few years back! Since the take over it’s all different. There is a poor woman who has been here as long as us…. She is on oxygen and knitting while she waits. Maybe we are on a “bad list” so we keep getting bypassed. So dissatisfied right now……..
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Delivering quality care is our highest priority, and we would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly. If you could send a private message to us with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you. Or you can reach our Patient Relations Department by email at [email protected] or by calling 978.937.6458.
Negative experience: Terrible service. I was there yesterday, December 25th, 2025. I arrived at 7 PM, a nurse took my blood, I had an X-ray, and no one came to see me. I waited until 3:30 AM on the 26th, and no doctor attended to me. Everyone who arrived after me had already been called, and I received no attention. My daughter was with me because I had no one to leave her with; she slept in the reception area the whole time. I was experiencing shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and very high blood pressure. My test results indicated the beginning of pneumonia, and even so, no doctor came to see me. I had to leave because I would have stayed until dawn without anyone attending to me, even with the test results ready! A complete lack of respect for a human being. And today I managed to call the clinic in Lowell to try to schedule an appointment because I had no success at the General Hospital emergency room.
We sincerely apologize that your experience at Lowell General Hospital did not meet your expectations. Delivering quality care and service is our highest priority, and we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the concerns related to your visit. If you could email [email protected] with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you. Or you can reach our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458.
Negative experience: Almost killed my grandpa for no reason. He went in for a broken wrist, so they put him on a catheter and refused him to use his nebulizer, putting him in an almost-deceased state. He didn’t need a catheter, they just didnt want to assist a 90 year old to the bathroom every few hours. We went in to “say our goodbyes” when we as a family decided they’re trying to kill him for no reason and we took him home so we could teach him how to walk again and give him his nebulizer treatments. Nonetheless, he celebrated his 92nd birthday and we ultimately saved his life.
Fantastic experience: I recently had an incident that brought me to the Emergency room and then to the Cardiac unit. I had a very positive experience at LGH. The care received was excellent. Wonderful nurses, doctors, aides, even housekeeping and food delivery employees. You sometimes hear horror stories about hospital care. Couldn’t be further from the truth. They were all very attentive and I felt very confident I was receiving the best care from very qualified professionals. Would highly recommend LGH if someone asked my opinion.
Thank you for sharing your experience. You can always count on us for quality emergency care. We will kindly share your kind words with our team. Best wishes!
Fantastic experience: I wanted to thank the Amazing paramedics that helped me Thursday December 11, 2025. I cannot tell you how incredibly grateful I am for all that you did for me. The group that came in the ambulance that helped me were highly organized and a precise, well oiled machine. Everyone was in-sync and steadfast. I was very scared and was having an extremely hard time breathing and I believe you saved my life!!! I want to thank you with All my heart for saving me You all are angels
That is fantastic to hear! Quality and timely service is why you can always count on us as a trusted healthcare provider. Thank you for the great review!
Fantastic experience: They saved my moms life back in the 90's.
We really appreciate the great feedback. We take great pride in making the lives of families in our communities easier. We're here for you whenever you need us!
Negative experience: Went to the ER the past 5 days in a row because I'm still having the same pain my whole abdomen feels like it's on fire where I just want to rip out my intestines the doctor just decided to basically yell at me and chalk it up to hemorrhoids when he didn't even examine me so I'm very pissed off and I'm still bleeding from down there and I'm still in massive pain but yet your doctors don't want to do anything about it
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978.937.6458, if you want to provide more details.
Fantastic experience: I recently was a patient at the main campus in room 3308b and I cannot say enough about the care I received. I cant remember all the names but Hannah, Gerry, Candace, Laurie and Sophy were absolutely marvelous! They are all a tribute to your organization and their profession. Please extend my thanks to them and all the other staff members on M3. M’Elle Josselyn
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Fantastic experience: El Mejor Trato El Personal Muy Amables Era Mi Primera Vez Ahi No Conocía Pero El Personal Me Ayudó Mucho
Fantastic experience: Lowell GH – OB/GYN Had my baby on 10/23/2025, and I’m coming here today just to say how truly happy I am with my experience at this hospital! From the very beginning, during all my prenatal procedures, I was surrounded by amazing nurses and doctors who took the absolute best care of me and my baby. I wish I had every single name with me so I could recognize each one individually… My delivery wasn’t easy — I had Pre-E and went through a 38-week induction — and they did everything possible to make sure I was safe, calm, and well supported. The doctor and nurses were all top-notch professionals. They turned one of the most intense moments of my life into the best day ever — the day I finally met my little one with all the support I always dreamed of. And I can’t forget the nurses on the recovery floor! They checked on us every three hours, always with kindness, patience, and genuine care, making sure both me and my baby were doing well. Thank you to every single person who made my experience as amazing and comforting as it could be. I’ll never forget your happy faces taking care of me.
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Negative experience: May their elders be treated the same way the treat ours.

Negative experience: I was just there at the emergency room Wednesday 11/12/25 around 11:30pm ish and the tech who was there was very rude to my child when checking weight and height/ fever/blood pressure. I tried to look for her badge name but I only saw “tech”. She was a bit too aggressive the way she approached me and my child. She was not patient, she seemed rushed and unhappy when my 5 year old toke awhile to take off her shoes to check weight and height. She impatiently stuck a thermometer under my child tongue and was not gentle and friendly at all, she didn’t bother to give my child a heads up just “open your mouth” . The ways she clipped the blood pressure clamp onto my child finger was not gentle…my child told me that it hurt when she did that. Tech lady asked me what was her pain level and I said “I don’t know, she’s just a kid saying she has pain.” Very sad to see that a grown adult act that way towards a 5 year old. And knowing my child is there to get help. Broke my heart how my 5 year old was remaining sweet and calm the whole time and was clueless with what was happening around her and not understanding someone could be so unkind by their body language. Idc what bad days you have, pls if your going to work at a place like this, try to remain nice and understanding esp working around those who are vulnerable.

Fantastic experience: The nurse that took care of me during my pre-surgery was amazing. Ann was knowledgeable, kind, comforting and funny! She made my experience much less terrifying. She’s an absolute jewel.
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Fantastic experience: I had a surgery done by Michael E. Jiser, MD, FACS He left a staples left in my stomach during Surgery. I was vomiting blood and was in Lots of pain .I went to see him after few days. He Did not do nothing and told me to take tylenol. I SAW A GASENTROLOGIST WHO DID ENDOSCOPY AND REMOVED MY STAPPLES. PLESES DONT GO TO HIM AND GET YOUR SURGERY BY HIM. WATCH OUT FROM THIS MAN. I AM STILL SUFFERING ITS ALMOST 4 YEARS.
Negative experience: Worst hospital in the state of Massachusetts whether you go to Lowell General or Saints campus it’s all the same total mistreatment of their patients.

Negative experience: Kept us waiting for over four hours… just to say that they couldn’t test for what I was looking to get tested for. Hooked me up to the machine when all we needed was a yes or a no.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Negative experience: Bedside manners need a lot of improvement.

Negative experience: Caitlyn (brown hair)the Tech working in the main campus ER at night on 10/10/25 was extremely unprofessional. She talks about patients like they arnt 5 feet away. Didn’t even introduce herself or check on the patient. Just sat on her phone for most of the time looking down. Hearing complaints about how she didn’t want to be here, unlucky to be sitting on her shift to other co workers, and having loud conversation with others rather than keeping watch. It’s valid to feel this way, but it feels horrible as a patient hearing the person who is watching you doesn’t care. Hospital itself is good, review is on this particular staff member.
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Positive experience: Great birthing experience here. After having a terrible experience at Winchester last time I gave birth I decided to go to this hospital this time around and it was amazing. Highly recommend having your baby here and not Winchester Update: whoever the lady is working emergency today answering phones gotta lose the attitude I just called to check in on my fiancé and she was having attitude with me because I asked if she transfer me to his room and she said there was no phone in his room and that he was sleeping. She could have just said it nicely but nope she had to be unprofessional. I get maybe she is having a stressful day but don’t take it out on patients family’s Birthing area is good Rest of the hospital is gross and awful
Thank you for sharing your experience. You can always count on us for quality care. We will gladly share your kind words with our team. Best wishes!
Fantastic experience: I’m so grateful for the nurses on the D3 Surgical Unit at Lowell General who cared for my mom after her brain surgery. Every single nurse was kind, patient, and caring — my mom couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful they were. Special thanks to Lin, Jess, Grisell, Mamawa, and Bridget for going above and beyond to make my mom comfortable and for supporting me and my family through such a stressful time. And to Dr. Sinha, my mom’s neurosurgeon — thank you for being not only an incredible doctor but also so compassionate and responsive. The care we received here was truly exceptional, and we are beyond grateful.
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Negative experience: The worst, went in ER at 8:45 until 1am still waiting to be seen, toilets have no paper towel or toilet papers, I will never come back to Er,
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with our team. We always strive to deliver quality and compassionate care for all our patients. You can reach our Patient Relations Department by calling 978.937.6458, if you want to provide more details.
Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience at Lowell General Hospital. The staff was professional, kind, and attentive from start to finish. The nurses and doctors took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt comfortable and cared for. The facility was clean and well-organized, and I truly appreciated the compassion and patience shown during my visit. Thank you for going above and beyond—I highly recommend this hospital
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Negative experience: Came in for an X Ray. Told them multiple times it was a workers comp claim. They still sent me a bill and never even gave me the results of the X Ray or informed me about how I can get the results. Whatthelly.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Delivering quality care is our highest priority, and we would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly. Negative experience: My mother was rushed there I've tried for hours to get through to the Bpod of the emergency room. I keep getting excuses like catastrophic phone failure. However B pod picks up knows if they put you on hold the call is lost forever. What kind of quality health care system has no back up plan?
We're sorry to hear that. Our mission is to provide high-quality care and compassionate service to all our patients, so we review every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. Please send us a message at [email protected] with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you.
Negative experience: Definitely the worst experience ever lived in my life. Terrible service in the emergency room. From the reception to the service (which was not consummated). What's the point of having an urgency and taking six hours to perform the service (which was not humanized at all). The apples scattered through the corridors with patients piling up in a disorganized and inhuman way. If you're sick, look for another hospital or die at home.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Negative experience: My grand daughter who is 17 months went to the er with a mouth and nose injury she sustained while playing. The people at the front desk at the er were rude and very unprofessional. We asked how long the wait was and The gentleman behind the desk told us a wait is a wait.. now sit down and wait! My grand daughter mouth was pouring blood! Tried to get ahold of patient advocate and no one would help us.. This hospital needs a total rehire because everytime we come here, its very bad patient care. I wouldnt recommend this ER or hospital for that matter to my worst enemy! They need to do something or close down
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love how this hospital handled the birth of my second child. Unfortunately my husband was out of state but they gave me all the support I needed to do it without him. I was a bit scared of giving birth just because my first experience back at a hospital in Illinois was horrible and traumatic. This hospital was a really a breath of fresh air when it came to talking about birth for me. I appreciate the nurses and staff that worked those days I was there!
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Negative experience: Worst experience ever*** I was having a deadly pregnancy and have to go emergency more than 10 times, they made me waith for approx 5 hours in every visit.. REALLY BAD
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Fantastic experience: tremendous hospital, I had my bariatric surgery and they couldn't have given me better treatment, I recommend it 100% the nurses are very attentive.
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Fantastic experience: Good services
We really appreciate the five-star rating! We hold ourselves to high standards in providing an exceptional experience for each and every patient. Best wishes!
Negative experience: They suck my daughter sat in the emergency room for well over four hours without being seen by a doctor on a Friday night hooked up to IV, no exam by dr. I read her lab report via the portal knew there was an infection. Still no dr. . Went to Emerson hospital was seen immediately hooked up to IV’s , pain medication and is having an emergency appendectomy. Thanks, Lowell General.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Negative experience: I was in the ER for under 30 minutes for an IV and mild sedative, and was charged over $2,400 with no clear breakdown. When I asked for clarity, I was told the charges were simply ‘other’ with no explanation. I’ve filed a complaint with the MA Attorney General and hope Tufts will review their billing practices.
Fantastic experience: A huge shout out to the staff in the Cardiac Cath lab. In particular, I would like to thank Cindy (one of the nurses)for her caring demeanor and attention. I have had the pleasure of experiencing her kindness twice now and each time she has put me at ease with both procedures.Thank you Cindy.
Thank you for sharing your experience. You can always count on us for quality emergency care. We will kindly share your kind words with our team. Best wishes!
Negative experience: HIPPA violations anyone? So far this is the worst experience. There is a room Alarm i can only describe as being at volume ten, beining ignored. It sounds like a pump that's either empty or has a clog. The people confirming patients information are taking so loud I can hear her (the patient) name, date of birth and home address, along with her complaint and insurance, (they are very adimint about getting your insurance information). It would help if the employees would close the 4 foot sliding glass door that has been left wide open before talking to patients. I understand its 5 seconds to close the door, but its worth it if a JCAHO employee is at an ER visit. 6 hours later still havent seen a provider, but some how received imaging hours ago, before even being seen by a provider. DO NOT COME HERE unless you want everyone to hear your information. .... and the confusion continues as they didnt know a patient was being moved to another floor. Epic
Negative experience: One of the worst experiences ever ! They have you wait 6+ hours before even seeing a doctor . There was a women who was basically screaming in agony pain and they did not care one bit . To top it off the lady that’s at the front desk at registration named Kerry is super rude she has no remorse for sick patients never again I would rather go to Lawrence General

Negative experience: I had the most traumatic experiences here at this hospital. I found out I was pregnant in May with my first baby and was actively miscarrying. I had Ben wait g in the ER waiting room for hours before I was able to get an ultrasound. The nurse who’d perform it did both an external and internal ultrasound which resulted in me having severe cramping and bleeding. The nurse who did my ultrasound wasn’t compassionate with me at all. She assumed that l had been through this before. She wasn’t gentle at all. Over all I would not go back to this hospital for anything. I just wanted to share for any other women out there, new mama or not to just be carful where you go for your care.
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978.937.6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: They suck and don’t care about there patients at all

Fantastic experience: My treatment was nothing short of spectacular. The entire staff was polite, kind, and professional. They went above and beyond to help ensure that I was well taken care of from ensuring I had plenty of warm blankets to helping me get surgery for my galstone the same day. I was amazed by how great they were as I went in at 5 A.M. with a galstone that wasn't even diagnosed, they found out in a few hours, and helped me get surgery the same day. I cannot express how thankful I am to everyone on the staff for everything they did.
We certainly strive to be the best! Thank you for taking the time to leave us this great review, and for trusting us with your medical needs!
Negative experience: Hospital must be short staffed because the wait times are ridiculously insane. Any patient could die, faint, fall, you name it.. before the nurse comes to check up on you. This hospital is amazing at making sure you’re ensured and to charge everything they can but it’s so terrible at their medical services. How come this place still open?
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Negative experience: Hospital policy doesn’t make sense. A valuable family member is staying due to harsh pains and my family member couldn’t have a visitor stay over despite the fact that they can’t be alone. Nurses take 30mins to an hour to come in and check up after ringing them, can’t have a visitor stay in case, overall it’s a terrible experience at this hospital. Do better Lowell General.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with our team. We always strive to deliver quality and compassionate care for all our patients. You can reach our Patient Relations Department by calling 978.937.6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: this hospital sucks . they will see you in pain and do absolutely nothing.

Please send us a message at [email protected] with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you.
Negative experience: I was assaulted by staff because of a miss communication. Right before that the nurse wanted to give me medications that were ment for someone else. And the gurney they wanted me to sit on in the hallway was filthy.
Dear d h,
We are truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your visit. We have zero tolerance for violence. In addition, quality and safety are our top priorities, and we are already investigating this further to ensure that any such incidents do not happen again.
Sincerely,
Lowell General Hospital
Negative experience: Super unprofessional. Treated my parents like an inconvenience more than a patient and his wife at the ER. Bed side manner definetely needs work. Talking about patients poorly in the room thinking families and patients can't hear them. Speaking down to my father and mother like they are idiots. All this after they sent my husband home to die from serious illness after misdiagnosing him years ago and then sending him home with a blood clot that traveled to his lungs calling it a pulled muscle both times. Terrible.
Dear Kim,
We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet our high standard of care. We take your concerns very seriously and would like to investigate this matter further to ensure it is addressed appropriately. Please consider reaching out to our patient relations team directly by calling 978.937.6458, so we can discuss your experience in more detail and work towards a resolution.
Sincerely,
Lowell General Hospital
Negative experience: Transferred from another hospital with an already diagnosed issue from a surgery that was performed HERE. STILL on hour number 9 waiting to be re-admitted. You’re supposed to be professionals. This ER screams disorganization and poor leadership. Embarrassing. The experience takes years off your life. If you need care, you deserve to be treated far better than this. Go anywhere else but Lowell General ER. UPDATE: Back at the ER and the folks at the desk think it’s FUNNY that people are upset about the wait. The patients in the waiting room are discussing the merits of going back home and calling an ambulance to expedite treatment. The operative word here, folks, is “CARE”. A hospital emergency room has to CARE! AND AGAIN! Mom fell. Had to bring her to this insane asylum, again. Got a CT scan 2 hours ago, results negative for fractures. Now I need to wait another 4-5 hours, or more, for a doctor to tell us we’re all set? You guys are RIDICULOUS!!!!
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: Never forget them taking my brother in the ER with extremely high blood sugar. I expected them to keep him overnight. At 2AM he was at my door. They gave him insulin and treated and streeted. They never called me with an update. They pushed him out to the sidewalk and he got a ride from someone. The next day I brought him to another hospital, only to find he had an infection was Hospitalized.
Dear Bob Henry,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear about the distressing situation you and your brother encountered during your visit to our ER. We take your concerns seriously and would like to hear more details. Please contact our office of patient relations at 978.937.6458.
Sincerely,

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about the ER staff and staff on the OCU floor. They went above and beyond to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We felt that we were being taken care of. The only drawback is getting admitted many hours before a room was available and getting to the room in the wee hours of the morning. Also they did not put the patient in the specific unit related to the ailment but the staff was so professional that they were able to take care of the patient without difficulty.
Thank you for the honest feedback. We are pleased that you trusted us with your urgent care needs. We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our services so that you get the high-quality experience you deserve. We want every review to be five-star worthy! Best wishes.
Negative experience: Went to the ER and waited 7 hours. Don’t know how this kind of hospital still exists and works. Staff are rude, especially BSN RN, think they are nurses and respond in a condescending manner.
We're sorry to hear that. Our mission is to provide high-quality care and timely service to all our patients, so we review every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. Please send us a message at [email protected] with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you.
Negative experience: This hospital is a joke using hallways for patients even though their HIPPAA rights are being violated THERE IS NO PRIVACY they don’t check on patients like they should. Diabetics not getting insulin When it’s needed and they depend on it.
Hi Crystal, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are deeply concerned to hear about your experience since we take patient privacy and safety very seriously. Please know that we are committed to addressing these issues and improving our services, so please discuss your experience further with our patient relations team at 978.937.6458. Sincerely, Lowell General Hospital
Negative experience: You are not meant for providing service… If you can’t provide service to patients even after waiting for 5 hours in the emergency line with excruciating pain and vomiting, please shut down the hospital!!! Shittiest service ever encountered ☹️
We're sorry to hear that. Our mission is to provide high-quality care and timely service to all our patients, so we review every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. Negative experience: The worst place you can be is the ER in this hospital. My husband was in severe pain, we waited for 4 hrs & when we asked how long until we see the GP all they said was "that's not how hospital works, what do you want me to do" Very rude person in the front desk of ER. Worst service in a place like that. We had to return home after 4hrs without any treatment because we couldnot get any response from the front desk or triage.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Delivering timely, quality care is our highest priority, and we would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly. If you could send a private message to us with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you. Or you can reach our Patient Relations Department by email at [email protected] or by calling 978-937-6458.
Negative experience: I regret having sought help at this hospital. My boys and I spent 7 hours in the ER feeling sick, with fever, chills, headache, shortness of breath, body aches, nausea and abdominal pain and no doctor saw us. During triage, the RN said it could be the flu, even though I explained that we were fine and my family started feeling sick right after dinner. ABSURD lack of respect and care for the patient. TERRIBLE service, you seek care and help and are simply left at the reception for 7 HOURS without being seen. I will check the insurance correspondence to see if the fact that I only went through triage will be grounds for charging the insurance for 7 HOURS OF NEGLECT AND ABANDONMENT OF THE PATIENT.
Dear Melissa, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, though we regret to hear about the situation you and your family faced during your visit. Your description of the long wait and lack of attention is very concerning. Please know that your feedback is taken very seriously. To help us understand more about what happened, please reach out to our patient relations team at 978.937.6458. Sincerely, Lowell General Hospital
Fantastic experience: I was in the LGH for 3 days and I am just grateful for everything they did for me . I was in the Pediatric floor and they have the best and the most caring team. Thank you to all of you guys Anne, Kimmy, Sabrina, Deyvin, Dawn and all the staff . You do an awesome job !
We're glad to hear you had an excellent experience with our team. You can always count on us, should you need us again, in the future!
Fantastic experience: Took a family member in for surgery. Extremely caring and friendly staff. Could not believe how clean and organized the place was. Everything went excellent with no surprises or delays. Cafeteria was large and clean and had a great selection and a well stocked salad bar. Plenty of parking. No more trips to Boston for us. Give them a try and you can thank me later !!
We love to hear that! Our team always delivers quality and compassionate care, and we'll gladly share your kind words with them. Take care!
Negative experience: Nothing but bad experiences everytime we go. At least 6 hour wait times in the waiting room only to have a doctor or nurse tell us they can't find anything wrong and send us home. More worried about getting rid of the drug addicts than actually treating a patient.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Delivering quality care is our highest priority, and we would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly. Negative experience: They sent my sister home three times with heart attacks until see died

Negative experience: This place is even more of a joke than Emerson. You guys have terrible service and everyone got attitudes. This place sucks 2.4 rating is crazy pathetic Hospital

Negative experience: My wife went in for a procedure. The nurses were all more than excellent! Surgeon was the best possible! The anesthesiologist was an absolute torturer! I am beyond pissed and nothing I can do about it. He was to give her a nerve block and did not numb her up at all. He must have been in a rush!! He stuck this meat brining syringe in her and the screaming almost dropped me to my knees. WHY??? After the surgery the nurses were flabbergasted. More angry than I have ever been in my life!
Dear Mark, Thank you for taking the time to share this with us, we would like to know more about your wife's experience. Your feedback is valuable and we take these matters very seriously. Please consider reaching out to our patient relations team at 978-937-6458 so we can discuss this in more detail and address your concerns directly. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Sincerely, Lowell General Hospital
Negative experience: Brought my relative around 8.30 PM a day before in an ER. It's nearly 6.00 AM the next day. still in the waiting area. Seen many serious patients throught the night, who all left without the care (all of them seemed not happy) Should patients be not told what to expect when they arrive? If there is a shortage of beds or doctors, then should the patients not be told ahead of time so that they don't wait in the lobby with the pain, (and can go home and sleep peacefully in thier bed)? Seriously disappointed with the way the patients are treated. Giving an extra star because of previous good experience.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with our team. We always strive to deliver quality and compassionate care for all our patients. You can reach our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: I regret having to come back to this hospital, as my previous experience was far from satisfactory. The ER is overcrowded, and it feels like there’s a severe shortage of staff. The waiting times are incredibly long; during my last visit, I waited about 7 hours to be seen. A nurse mentioned that the ER is perpetually busy because people often skip seeing their primary care doctors, which was frustrating to hear—no one comes to the ER as a first choice. This week, I've been here twice for the same kidney pain while already on antibiotics, and I've now been waiting for 4 hours. I sincerely hope they take the time to thoroughly investigate my issue. It's important to remember that no one wants to be in this situation for fun! ___________________________________________ I had an incredibly frustrating experience at the hospital. I waited for 9 hours without being seen by a doctor or receiving any treatment at all. It's disappointing and feels like a nightmare. I left without any help, which is not what anyone expects when they go to the emergency room. I hope improvements can be made to ensure that patients receive timely care.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Positive experience: I just want to say the staff and doctor who saw me today and treated me was extremely caring, kind, and compassionate and really cared for my well being. They listened to me and explained everything they were doing ran imaging tests to find out what the root of my abdominal pain was and found some other very important issues that I need to consult with my Primary care about which I am very thankful for. I just want to say thank you for being so kind and caring and compassionate it shows you truly care about your patients well being and I am so grateful for all of your staffs kindness today as I’ve been in pain for four days and can finally have some relief. I didn’t give five stars only because of the extremely long wait times which made me think twice about going to the ER but I’m very happy I got seen today and taken care of. Thank you
Thank you for the honest feedback. We are pleased that you trusted us with your urgent care needs. We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our services so that you get the high-quality experience you deserve. We want every review to be five-star worthy! Best wishes.
Fantastic experience: Had my first 2 kids there and many hostel stays. They do an amazing job
We're glad to hear you had an excellent experience with our team. You can always count on us, should you need us again, in the future!
Negative experience: Does one of the worst hospital do not go to the hospital I went to Burlington Lahey clinic so I want to listen to the people in the emergency room in Lowell right now I would have been dead doctors Lahey clinic save my life
Negative experience: If you're not dying prepare to be there for atleast 7 to 8 hours. Had hip surgery done back in March and I ended up with a post dural headache. Thought my head was going to explode. (As described by the anesthesiologist post dural headaches happen when you are leaking spinal fluid and it causes your brain to sag.) Was there 4 hours before my surgeon was able to get me in because the emergency department didn't think it was serious enough. Now my 9 year old was there with what another doctor thought could be appendicitis waiting 5 hours for lab results. You'd think they would figure things out with all the bad reviews they get.

Please send us a message at [email protected] with the best way you prefer to be reached (phone or email), a member of our staff will reach out to you.
Negative experience: Never go here especially if you have an infant they will have you waiting in the waiting room for hours even if you are brought in by ambulance. Even if your infant has a fever you will still be waiting. Got there at 10:30 left at 7:30am with my 6month old baby who all the while knew that she had Covid but kept us in the waiting room until the last hour and a half they literally suck ahhz

Positive experience: The hospital is very good, but I had terrible care from a nurse last Saturday, August 31, 2024. I was with my wife after surgery there in the emergency room. When the nurse was releasing her to go home, he took all the wires from the electrocardiogram and pulled everything out at once with ignorance. There were some stuck close to my wife's surgery. She felt pain again immediately and started crying. After that, he still wanted her to walk out of the hospital if she couldn't. in standing up, and started arguing with me because I said she couldn't and that he needed to help, I said he did a terrible job, he didn't even apologize and I even asked him to give in to the pain again and to call someone else to help because my wife was no longer comfortable with his presence, I tried to film him indiscreetly, he threatened me not to take care of her pain and made me delete the video, but I recovered it in the app's trash as soon as I left and I'm going to sue him because my wife will have to go to a psychologist because of him, she had to go back to the hospital today and she didn't even want to out of fear, thank God that today it was God's angels who attended to us, I hope the hospital management is aware because he may be treating more people badly, soon my wife even though she just had surgery to remove pancreatic cancer and he's trying to end her joy.
Negative experience: Worse hospital to ever go to. The customer service is incredibly bad a patient could literally be passed out and absolutely no nurses come to help I am truly disappointed. Most of the nurses are so rude too but I’m not surprised the whole service there is horrible. Yall need to attend to your patients more. It’s utterly ridiculous and pathetic; I’ve never felt more let down.
Negative experience: First I want to say that this is the worst place because I took my 5 month old baby there last night who had an accident and hit his head. I wanted to get him seen right away but they told me I had to wait like 5 hours because there were so many people in the ER. I also understand that all the people in the ER are sick but I took a 5 month old baby there who had an accident and they couldn't get me seen right away and... This is why so many babies die in this country from lack of care.
Fantastic experience: Nurse that did my blood was very gentle I hate giving blood they also have a new way of registering signing in so if you haven't been there yet make sure you have your license and your medical card with you to register thry need that information that you need to put in yourself on a mach to check in
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We appreciate the kind words and will be sure to share them with our team. Best wishes!
Negative experience: Went in to the ER based on Dr orders. Got there at 9 am after trying to find Handicapped parking. Couldn't find any and had to park near garage. I am on oxygen and had to walk from garage area to ER entrance. Not easy carrying oxygen tanks. Once inside and checked in, I waited 7 hours before being seen by a Dr!!! Had to have 2 supplement oxy takes brought over to me while waiting. Not allowed food or drink for the 7 hours as well. Why are there so few HP spaces by ER? Does it make sense for HP patients to walk up a hill, followed by 3 landings of steps, followed by 75 foot walk to ER entrance Under Dr orders? On oxygen? Ridiculous.

Positive experience: Lowell General Main Campus is incredibly frustrating. The wait times are excessively long, even if you arrive early. The women at the front desk are not only rude but also show a complete lack of compassion. If you can't treat people with kindness, a hospital is not the place for you. However, I must commend the nurses they were genuinely caring and made a difficult experience a bit more bearable.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback matters to us. Our mission is to provide high-quality and timely patient care, so we take every concern thoroughly and address them with our staff. We hope to deliver a better experience the next time you need us.
Negative experience: This hospital is a negative 1 between care and customer services!!!!!

Negative experience: Not surprised coming to post a review and seeing 403 reviews (mostly bad) about Lowell General Main Campus. This hospital is terrible. In the past i had come for pains i was getting while pregnant. They turned me away telling me to go to Lawrence General where my DR delivers instead of helping me here (i lived 5 min from this hospital at the time) Moving forward, today i took my nephew to see his dying father. Walked in. Gave the name at the front desk. The woman didnt even have his name in the system. Another woman who says her name is DONNA , blonde older woman came around the corner and said "is that his son, lets go ill take you up." Im baffled at the fact that she had no compassion and didnt even say anything to me . She shouldve explained nicely that they werent allowing others up at the moment and that she needed to walk him up. No manners, extemely rude , no explanation just super ignorant. She claims she "has a job to do". I understand that Donna but your job is to also be nice to everyone. Have some damn compassion and learn how to communicate. This hosptial is terrible. I wouldnt take any of my own family members here...EVER!!!!!
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: God forbid you’re dying. Avoid this place at all cost. You’re better off having your life saved at an Urgent Care. Blonde and young lady wearing a hijab were rude, telling me basically I was lying about being unable to breathe, and agitated that I went up to the desk bc I COULD NOT BREATHE, and was having chest pains. Attitude was disgusting. They seemed completely uninterested in anything other than the Dunkin Donuts they had at their desk. Maybe try hiring people who are going to actually care about the people and their job. I’m currently at another hospital.

Positive experience: We received great services at Lowell General Hospital. Shelby, our nurse tech, talked with us, explained to us, and checked in on us frequently. My grandma passed away Saturday, July 20th, 2024 but she made the experience a little less painful. Thank you Shelby for your kindness! ***I found out after I wrote this review that the hospital misspelled my grandma's last name on the death certificate.***

Negative experience: They shoved me and my mother who was dying from cancer in a closet in the ER and didnt help for at least 3 hours. She passed away the next day. This wasnt the first time - the ER is not for emergencies apparently. We've actually waited (and I counted) 13 hours in the ER for someone just to recognize us. Id actually prefer to just die rather than be cared for here. Up to you to make that choice - you'll probably just die in a closet in the ER anyways.
Andrew, We are very sorry for the loss of your mother. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the concerns. Negative experience: Hate coming to this hospital. The really mess up thing about this place.(Only for ultra sound) Is when I had an appointment at 10:15 am. I didn't get call in till 12:40. So I waited ppl started to come in way after me (5-15mins) they got call in before me. Like wth. There was a person came 5 mins after me and ask ooh is it OK if I went to get coffee. They said yeah. She came back about 10mins later and got call in less then 3mins while I'm here still there waiting. There was a couple came in around 11:15am they got call in 5 mins after. And I'm still waiting. There excuse was sorry we don't have available rooms ready. Like really ppl came in for the same reason. Ultra sound. Wish I could of went to a different hospital.

Negative experience: Terrible Hospital you check in but you don’t check out. Extremely overwhelmed Emergency Rooms. Some staff are very good and try. However, most staff don’t care and seem to be highly medicated themselves. Don’t go here
Your review is very concerning to hear, and we would like to investigate this thoroughly. Please contact our Patient Relations Department by calling 978-937-6458, if you want to provide more details.
Negative experience: The Lowell General main campus ER gets a ZERO!! (And that is being generous) First, I get they are short handed, but when someone is having a true and actual emergency, this is unacceptable. I got there at 10:52pm on a Monday night and it appeared that shifts were changing over, so I was not triaged! A tech tried to draw blood and could not so she sent me back to the waiting room, she never asked what was going on or my level of pain… 3 hours later and about 5 visits to the desk, the rude (and too busy for me) nurse finally called me in for blood work and to talk to me. My pain was beyond 10 out of 10! My husband and son asked the desk a few times “how much longer”, the 2 random other patients next to me saw my level of pain and offered me to go in if they were called before me. My son asked if they could give me anything for the excruciating pain, the nurse flat out FORGOT to get it for me! So he had to go back up to remind her! After 4 hours, we were told it was another 2-3 hours wait. And they FINALLY told me that the saints campus did not have a wait… so we went there and I’m so glad we did. That ER receptionist and triage nurse were extremely nice at saints campus and took care of me best they could! And, my pain was legit and I had surgery within hours!

Fantastic experience: Love this place I was born there and it treated my mom so good
We're glad to hear you had an excellent experience with our team, You can always count on us, should you need us again, in the future!
Negative experience: Will be making a report. I went into labor and delivery and they had the audacity to tell me I could not be seen because I am 20 weeks pregnant. When in all reality I believe it doesn’t matter how far along you are, if I’m coming in for a concern regarding my baby I would atleast think the nurses would have some sympathy. All they had to do was simply use a fetal Doppler. I work in the medical field as well and this is completely unacceptable and I feel as if it’s negligence. Guarantee you if I was white I’d be seen instantly. How can you even turn a patient away without evaluating them. This is unreal. Worst hospital ever hence why all the negative reviews.
Negative experience: On Saturday 7:30pm i went to ER because I got a wound, when the blade of the lawn scarifier went into my foot. Waited over 3h, they didn’t even clean my wound. I asked how much longer I needed to wait and I was told they were understaff, so it could be another 2h. I appreciate the honesty but It is Sunday 12:30am, i am still bleeding and I am trying to clean the wound while I wait for Sunday morning to go to urgent care as they said I should do. Not sure if that’s the right way to treat patients but I have no intention to ever go back to Lowell General Hospital.

Negative experience: Been waiting for 3 hours from having awful stomach pain and been crying when the pain comes. They see me crying to and still say I have to wait for a doctor. Glad they care about there patient. If I was a nurse I would of put her next. I shouldn’t have to wait for hours to be seen when it wasn’t busy when I got here.

Negative experience: Very poor service, receptionists are very rude they don’t know how to talk with people. They shouldn’t be working at this place. Wait time is awful.

Negative experience: My daughter was born in Tufts in Boston was transported to Lowell. She is a NICU baby who was born very early and my very first child. The experience I had in the special unit was very unsettling. They involved DCF when in every record I'm very first time mom... While in NICU was personally going through alot especially in the beginning postpartum being overwhelmed being a new mom. Some nurses we're willing to help me be less nervous with my daughter and take good care of her having that patience guidance helping me through it at the same time had nurses who we're bullies and judging very quickly. Whispering make comments underneath their breath or rolling their on me because I was a new mom.. I remember did overnight boarding at 3 in the morning was time for feeding over heard a nurse saying my daughter was in DCF custody that truly broke my heart in pieces went through alot with my daughter by myself since Boston. I'm still currently fighting my daughter back while being 3 month postpartum no mother should go through something like that. I'm wonderful mom didn't deserve that. I don't know what happen to humanity but that wasn't right to put first time mom in so much pain suffering not having my daughter. In the future not planning on having more kids because it actual trauma what I experienced in this hospital that took away the happiness away from me. I will never step on this hospital ever again gave me huge PTSD for the rest of my life.
