Fantastic experience: Great kind caring compassionate staff community and beautiful grounds!

Fantastic experience: We came to D’Youville from another facility that unfortunately wasn’t meeting our family's needs. Our situation was a bit complex—both of our parents were moving, but they had very different care requirements and needed to transition at different times. From the very beginning, the team at D’Youville demonstrated incredible communication and support, walking with us through every step of the process. Our parent needing Memory Care moved in September 2024, and the other joined in Assisted Living in January 2025. The attention and care they’ve each received—tailored to their individual needs—has been nothing short of outstanding. The staff at D’Youville is proactive, compassionate, and dedicated. They’ve gone above and beyond to suggest supportive services like physical therapy and other resources to help each parent thrive. As their children, my sister and I, feel an immense sense of relief and peace of mind knowing that our parents are not only safe but also truly cared for. We’re incredibly grateful to the team at D’Youville for their professionalism, empathy, and commitment to excellence.

Fantastic experience: Caregivers here are professional, kind, empathetic everyone watches out for everyone and they are so encouraging. The food here is also 5 star delicious. I was very blessed that my case manager from the hospital sent me here for my rehabilitation.

Fantastic experience: The Saab Residence has been home to my mother Carol and her husband Ron for 3 years. They are now both moving to long term care. I would like to express my utmost gratitude for the excellent, compassionate, and professional care, they received while living there. The Saab has lovely apartments, and is a beautiful building. Very well maintained. I would like to highly recommend this assisted living to anyone considering moving to one.

Fantastic experience: D'Youville is a wonderful facility. My father was part of their rehab community twice and both times, he received exceptional care. The staff is very attentive and compassionate. The specialty staff (OT/PT) are very thorough and show extreme patience with the patient's progress and ability. The nursing staff were open to communication with my family and were always welcoming of any questions we had. The food was great and they were able to meet any dietary restrictions or accommodations needed. My family and I were so pleased with the care my father received.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with our decision to move Mom into the Saab Residence. It's a really lovely, community-driven residence. The facilities are very well kept, fresh and clean, and run by the kindest of people. Mom is comfortable, safe, and loves her cozy apartment. It's also great that there are a wide variety of activities to keep her engaged. And the size of the residence is just perfect. It's not too big so it really feels homey!

Fantastic experience: Everyone here is exceptional! After our father passed, my sister and I were desperate for a safe place for our mother who has memory problems. After touring many facilities we settled on the SAAB residence at D'Youville. I could not be happier. I am confident that my mother is in good hands and still has her independence. The staff here go above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and have peace of mind.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible the kitchen staff manager is the Absolutely worst he doesn't know how to manage his people at all and at night "his people"( as he call them bc he hand picked them ) hide in the bathroom and steal time from the company. Get a new head of management of the kitchen

Positive experience: Cadillac of rehabilitation facilities!!!! Clean! Great care, great food, personable and professional staff. PT staff great! Few downsides: is the PCA’s on night shift…. Need training in how to treat post surgical patients with care, slow down and they all should introduce themselves…. Never know who is nurse or PCA. To the male nurses on rehab: when a patient asks what meds you are giving them, do not respond with, “you know what you’re taking!” Rude.

Fantastic experience: My Dad was there for a week and he does not like to sit still. The patience and compassion that all the staff showed were incredible—plus putting up with all the family's phone calls. My dad raved about the food and the kitchen staff in the cafeteria and how nice they were. The place was also spotless and well-maintained. I have worked with the Elderly for 10 years and will highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: The Saab Residence for Assisted Living on the campus of D'Youville in Lowell, MA has been home to our elderly cousin for two years now and we have been pleased beyond words with her care. The staff, from Executive Director to RN to Nursing Aides and Maintenance workers are not only friendly, professional and kind but very responsive to the needs of the residents. Recently my cousin had to be hospitalized and when she returned to the Saab, she received a royal welcome and loving attention. The nursing staff kept in close communication with me while she was away and was highly instrumental is transferring her back to the campus as soon as possible. The professionals who staff The Saab Residence are well educated in dealing with the needs and emotions of the older members of society. I complimented one of the directors on her understanding of my cousin and her idiosyncrasies; her tremendous kindness toward her and she responded, "I try to get in the minds of each of them." That's not just a profession; that's love.

Fantastic experience: I recently spent time visiting a friend at another facility and, while I knew D’Youville was great, I was again struck that there was no comparison in terms of the care, two way communication, and commitment to residents and their families. I had a new appreciation for the truly “compassionate nursing care” that my family member received for more than 3 years at D’Youville. The facility was always clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly. When we had in-house visits, we could walk around inside the building or sit in the chapel for spiritual renewal. We enjoyed going outside to sit in the courtyard and to the front grounds to sit at the benches or tables near the fountain. We took many walks on the paved path around the pond and enjoyed seeing many species of birds and families of ducks. Communication with family was beyond expectations, especially during the Covid lockdown period. Families were provided information regarding the facility, staffing, upcoming events, and, of course, their family member. The nurse manager, nurses, certified nursing assistants, therapists, chaplain, social worker, recreational staff and the director gave great care to and showed my mother in law such true heartfelt caring for more than 3 years. We can’t thank everyone enough for helping us all transition my mother in law from her home to rehab to long term care and also helping to guide the family members through the adjustments.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been in the healthcare industry for over ten years and have had the opportunity to work with many facilities. Part of my job is to provide information and recommendations to families who are seeking rehabilitation and long-term care. D’Youville stands above all. The professionalism and dedication in providing overall care is what sets them apart from everyone else. If I had a loved one who was in need of care, this is where I would want them.

From the initial visit and follow up conversations, to getting my parents settled in their apartment and making connections for them with other residents, I have been impressed with the caring nature of everyone I've met. Fantastic experience: During the pandemic our family needed help taking care of my 93 year old grandma in the last few months of her life and we were able to have her and her identical twin sister get together right before she passed away which was one of her last wishes with the help of the director Paula Capone who we couldn’t have made it happen without. My family will forever be thankful.

Fantastic experience: I wish ten stars was an option. The warmhearted and compassionate care my dad received during his stay at The Saab Residence Assisted Living was not only impeccable, but so uniquely special. The devotion, kindness and affection provided was not only a positive for him, but a positive and relief for me and my family. They gave me the peace of mind and time to focus on many things I was unable to deal with prior to his stay. I can honestly and wholeheartedly say that the Saab brought out a part of my dad I didn't know existed. Bingo and music, dancing and gathering socially with peers...amazing. I commend the staff and give huge kudos to ALL. They are a team of exceptional people, one and all.

Fantastic experience: My grandmother was in and out of here for the last year of her life. The staff here is outstanding, Rhonda, Amanda, Melissa and Elma to name a top few. I really felt like they were family! My grandmother reached the point where she couldn’t move, and this team kept adjusting her, cleaning her, checking in on her every 20-30 min. Whenever we needed something they were on top of it. I am so thankful that this team is so passionate about their patients. On top of it the facility is super clean, didn’t smell bam (because you know those type of places do) and there were options of places to sit besides the room. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
