Fantastic experience: The staff at this facility was so amazing and treated my father with such dignity and care!

Negative experience: My parents spent the last agonizing months of their lives in this horrible place. The outward appearance is nice with gardens, dining areas, and community rooms. However the staff and nursing care is terribly inadequate, and their treatment of our parents was horrific. My mom suffered almost two dozen 'unwitnessed falls' there, was not given direct access to bathroom, no walker, often the call button was under her bed. Ultimately we pulled her out after her last fall sustained broken ribs, brain bleed and she passed away shortly thereafter. We begged to have them in a room together(they had been married for 65 years), however this was refused, even with open rooms available and after appeal to the state ombusdman. My father also suffered there and was told that when he needed to go to hospital (where he passed away just one month after his stay at Hanover Hills), that he 'just preferred the hospital food to theirs'. I will take their immense suffering at the hands of the management and nursing staff to my own grave. DO NOT leave your loved ones in their hands! Find a place with compassion and adequate staffing. This is a for profit facility. Their management team should be ashamed.

Fantastic experience: My grandmother stayed here after undergoing a major surgery. She was a little lady who spoke very little English, yet the staff treated her with kindness and made every effort to communicate and understand her. The therapy team was excellent, helping her regain her ability to walk. The providers were caring, attentive, and supportive throughout her stay. I have no regrets about bringing my grandmother here!

Fantastic experience: My father was here for rehab after an extended hospital stay and he was treated great. The therapy team was amazing and helped build his strength to get him home in a decent amount of time. They also gave him speech therapy to help with residual swallowing/speech issues from a previous stroke. The nursing team and LNAs were great and tended to him with care. I love how many activities are offered to keep patients and residents active. I can't say enough good things about this facility. Thank you Hanover Hill!

Negative experience: My mother went here for rehab and I thought it was a good place. Should have taken her out day one! My biggest mistake at my mother’s expense! So many issues!!! Lack of staff, unfriendly and no concern for patients, medications found on floor, disrespectful to patients when families not around, pts left in bed or sitting in rooms alone all day, fluids not offered or monitored, staff complaining about patients, staff gossiping and making fun of other patients, lack of clear communication between shifts regarding patients status, personal items vanish regularly, failure to comply with treatment plans, just the overall lack of care and compassion! I could go on and on. Management is more concerned if monthly “rent” and TV/phone bill is paid and image of facility rather than real care for seniors or the family concerns. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. When you speak up or question things, you become a “troublemaker” see how fast they turn on you and place claims of senior abuse, neglect and even theft with police and welfare agencies!

Negative experience: Worked here as an agency nurse and the staff at this place are full of hatred and jealousy towards agency staff. If your loved one is on the dementia unit please monitor them because the LNAs try to bully nurses into giving them sleep medications and antipsychotics that are not scheduled for them. When I refused to do it, they went and told the supervisor I was on Facebook for 8 hours and gave medication late. One of the LNAs there was visibly high on drugs while caring for those people. I may take them to civil court for the lies they reported about me.

Negative experience: Tried to call a patient, but didn't know room No. No directions on how to speak to someone. Dialed 0 for operator, got voice of patient asking for assistance. Never able to get information.

Negative experience: The management here is so messy and no one helps each other. I’ve seen the LNAs go into a residents room and turn the call bell off without actually assisting the resident and when it was brought to the supervisor’s attention nothing happened. Also Karen, a member of their housekeeping team, needs to change her disgusting attitude. She has always been nothing but mean. Do better, Hanover Hill.

Negative experience: The fact they let a stalker and abuser work there is pathetic. Tyler Gagnon abused and is stalking my friend and no matter how much she tries to get rid of him, he never leaves her alone and can't accept no for an answer. Please watch out for him for the care of your loved ones and yourself. He will probably abuse you like he did my friend.

Positive experience: My mother went to live at Hanover hill when she could not cook for herself or take her meds without reminders. My mother was very active there and did not need direct nursing care. Recently when her health declined and she needed assistance with bathing, eating, toileting the quality of care dropped to zero stars. My Last 3 conversations with my mother would be me telling her that I will call the nursing station to get her assistance for bathroom or getting into bed. There are several nurses that are shining stars but the weekend staff was horrific.

Fantastic experience: From a grateful family member: Thank you for holding outdoor visitation this summer. The staff is very kind and respectful to both the residents and visitors. Thank you for making the best possible out of our “new normal”

Positive experience: Having history here for a few reasons, I've seen this place inside and out from both the perspective as someone who's visited, someone with family that works that, someone with family who lives there, and as someone who has worked there. Most of the staff is absolutely amazing. They are kind, diligent, and will go out of their way to take care of their residents. Some will go above and beyond to do things for them to make them happy, and I especially want to give a special shout out to the Lee Unit and it's LNA's for this specific reason. They are absolutely amazing at what they do and it's admirable. They deserve so much and more. The kitchen staff are very good at what they do and they take pride in their work. It was a joy working for them even when things got too stressful in my personal life for me to continue. The residents themselves are so great, and I miss every one of them. However, from my own personal insight, there are some things to keep in mind. I am concerned about where some of the budget is going. There has been a bit of unnecessary spending towards luxuries to make appearance better for visitors that would have been better gone towards the residents and employees. With the corona virus making its way through, I believe these employees should all get paid much much more. The Lee Unit employees especially should be treated with a lot more respect. They endure some combative residents who will hit them, kick them, bite them, spit at them, and so on. They care more about their residents than I have seen anywhere else. And when the first blow of covid initially hit the facility a few months ago, they were the only section that didn't have it. That is a feat in of itself. They deserve so much more. And I feel if enough people stood up for what they deserve in this place, things would change for the better.

Fantastic experience: As an outside provider for hospice patients at this facility for over 7 years, I had the great pleasure of working with amazing staff. The quality of care provided to the residents is the most outstanding. The food service is also amazing (not your typical nursing home food). The environmental team does exceptional work at maintaining the property inside and out. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who needs assistance in caring for their loved ones.

Negative experience: Nurse Stacy made my grandmother's life a living hell. She has no respect. And shout out to Hanover Hill's staff for asking my mother, "Would you like a box to take her stuff with you?" This was while my grandmother was laying dead in her bed. How disgusting! My grandmother passed away at 3 AM, and the nursing home demanded her stuff to be completely removed from the premises by 12 PM that same day. INAPPROPRIATE Several times the staff would deny my grandmother visits to the hospital. They would say we were all being melodramatic because she was sick "with a cold" that ended up being pneumonia. She almost died becaise of this. They would threaten to kick my grandmother out of the nursing home all the time. It added so much additional stress to the situation. The only person there that actually cared about my grandmother was Bishnu, and I am so happy that she went out of her way to become a nurse. But to the rest of the staff, have more compassion for the elderly because this is where you will end up.

Fantastic experience: My mom broke her leg on Christmas Day. As a result, she was in need of skilled nursing rehabilitation. All experiences are different, but my mom was in the best hands at Hanover Hill for four months. The facility is immaculate and she received excellent care. I did not worry about her at all. Most importantly, she was clean, happy and her medications were managed perfectly. The staff was attentive and always upbeat. Without hesitation, I would recommend Hanover Hill.

Negative experience: My Memere went to Hanover Hill multiple times over recent years, most recently in January 2018 for hospice care, where she passed away about a week and a half later. Previous stays had their own issues, mainly with unkind LNAs, bad housekeeping and general disinterest of the staff, but the last time was the worst and definitely a far cry from "hospice." Due to her inability to swallow, she was unable to eat near the end. Nurses harassed her and scolded her to the point where she had to speak up and say "It's not my fault." A few days before she passed a male nurse came into the room and was angrily telling her she had to take a shower that day. (Why, when was so close to the end? Leave her alone!) It seemed that the staff was always there to scold her or be rude, but no one was ever around to offer her comfort or really help her. They spoke down to her as if she were an insolent child, despite the fact that she was sharp and aware right up to the end (and even if she hadn't been, that wouldn't be an excuse to treat patients they way they do!). Avoid this place at all costs. She desperately didn't want to go to HH after all of her bad experiences but it was the only place with available beds. Please, for the sake of your loved ones, bring them somewhere else. It really doesn't take much to be an improvement over Hanover Hill.

We pride ourselves on the high quality of care we provide to our residents and patients, and regret that the care provided to your family member was perceived to be less than optimal.

Negative experience: Very poor service almost killed my father

Fantastic experience: Rehab - My mother and aunt both went to Hanover Hill for rehabilitation for several months. My mother was 83 and my aunt was 94. My mother had broken her hip - my aunt broke her collar bone. The facility is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and the food was always excellent. I ate meals with them in the elegant dining room/restaurant many times. They loved going to the dinning room and to the hair salon to get their hair done. More importantly, the nurses, physical and occupational therapists were seasoned caring professionals and they did a great job with both of them.
