Negative experience: My story is too long to fit into this little box. If it weren’t for some of the staff, my brother‘s experience would have been completely negative. However, the director of nursing made a major error in his care, which may have caused him his life. The error was admitted to me, but when the health department came to inspect upon my request, they lied about it. All patients need to have an advocate, but even then, you are at the mercy of some people who really do not care from the top down. Just beware.
Positive experience: I have been a resident here at this facility for close to a year now,,the purpose being to rehab my injured knee for a complete knee rebuild,.But,,the main purpose of this elaborate review is to whole heartedly and respectfully recognize the Recreation Dept . This dept.consists of 2 women only,,Joan n Ceny. Since my first introduction to them I was immediately overcome with a sense of concern & respect..If I or anyone requested an item consisting of anything to do with the Recreation Dept. This request was entertained and if the requested item was not on hand one of the ladies would acquire the item and pass it on to the individual requesting it..Through out the days I began noticing that these ladies also assisted individuals with board games puzzle books , Bingo,, Cardo, complete with prizes,,clothing and distribution of coffee daily,,combined B-day parties at the end of the month complete with cake and coffee sometimes ice cream. It is in my opinion that these 2 ladies on their own go out of their way to keep pragramming active here at the facility.. They also carry out Holiday celebrations again with the necessities, these two ladies do whatever they can to assure that the residents get a sense of security,, comfort and receive whatever material items that are needed to feel comfortable ...It goes with out having to say " This Rec. Dept.is a big priority within this facility,,," I myself would like to sincerely thank Joan and Seny for the days of Chit Chatting with me and being there for me when I truly needed someone to listen to me and for expressing Respect and Courtesy in the time of need,*Thank you very, very much Ladies..
Fantastic experience: New Haven Center for Nursing and Rehab, is a very nice nursing home in my experience. The thing that really separates this facility from others is their staff! Pleasant, caring, and very respectful. From the Administrator all the way down the chain, all great people. I would definitely recommend New Haven Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Negative experience: Horrible place to rehabilitate.I live out of the state so my father is here to rehabilitate for his leg and bad diabetes. Whether it's staff or the other patients they steal his food neglect changing his wraps on his leg and his sugar is always up and down. He has been in and out of the this rehab with dangerous sugar lows and highs around 5 times. Unexceptible care for a man that's only in his late 50s I'm am so fed up with this place I may seek legal action for neglect if you love your family members please don't send them here.

Negative experience: I went to visit my dad today. Who’s there for rehab when I went to look up the place for the address I was already taken back by the poor reviews when I got there and I pulled up I said what is this the place looks rundown looked old windows are boarded with wooden boards when I walked in. It felt like jail, the smell was horrible. The atmosphere was just horrible. There’s nothing appealing about the place. It’s disgusting seeing mouse traps all over the place was disturbing. Seeing my dad very sad and depressed the conditions he was in having to share a room with three men is disgusting the room smelled because the other men I don’t know if they use the bathroom on themselves, but it was horrible. The place is old , he was complaining about the food being horrible. They’re hardly feeding him. I had to bring food outside for him. He said some of the staff are wonderful some awful it’s just not a place where somebody needs to be. That place needs to be shut down reported to the health department. I’m working on getting my dad transferred out of there. I do not recommend this place anyone.I broke down in tears. This is horrible. I don’t even know how this place is still in business disgusting. !!!
Negative experience: There four people to a room. Its unsainitary. This place never answers the phone or calls back.
Negative experience: One word "unsanitary. Using the same lines for IV with a picline. While cleaning picline, stopped during the cleaning, went over to another patient, touched the patient by taking a patch of of him, go back to first patient who they left and what to finish WITHOUT washing hands or putting on gloves. They gave a patient someone else's IV drip. If patient didn't notice, who knows what could have happened. I don't even want to think about it. I don't think it was clean. It was so hectic and unorganized , wouldn't leave my dog there .

Negative experience: The staff defends Child predators trying to meet 9 year olds. Very disturbing and shameful! People should know they protect child preds

Negative experience: Rats running around, Trash everywhere, and the refrigerators have spoiled food in them from over a month ago

Negative experience: Yikes! Avoid this place if at all possible. My friend is there and she's seen 3 mice so far in her room. Not sure if thats even avoidable in a setting like that but there were mouse traps in the room. Also has fruit flies. She has 3 roommates, so 4 patients per room. The nurses/aids do deserve some credit here as they've been very kind and helpful, although the physical therapy aspect has been lacking as she only gets 10 - 15 minutes daily. That's too short,imo, considering she is there because she's having trouble walking. Very little contact with the physician. Also, terrible food.

Positive experience: I visited my bf there for the first time yesterday. I found the facility both inside and out very clean, from the minute I entered the building I found everyone friendly, professional and helpful. Everyone I spoke to was able answer all my questions without going to get someone else or rushing off. I wanted to specify certain nurses and aids I spoke to but at the moment, Michelle , Allie and Nyquita come to mind. I also spoke with Paul. I believe he is the director. He also was very helpful and professional. This is the 3rd facility he has been in , but his mom was in several and my mom was also in one and although this wasn't the absolute best it was 2nd. My bf was eating lunch and it smelled and looked amazing. I did taste the chicken and it was very good. My overall visit was delightful. Thank you to all the staff. I forgot about Ashley and Dee plus Adriana was able to assist me on the phone yesterday and today.

Fantastic experience: Just visited this facility. It’s under new ownership and the staff is super nice and caring! The rehabilitation department is now in house and available 7 days a week. Can’t wait to see the more positive changes as time goes on

Negative experience: Impossible to reach by phone. If you push 0 for the operator, you just get music for over an hour. If you push any of the other options, it goes directly to voicemail. The mailboxes are either full or no one calls you back.

Positive experience: Some employees are iffy , some patients are out of control but they do offer lots of medical needs there as in a nurses office, dental, hair dressing room, vending and can bring outside food. They are not limited to just one room specific hours they are able to go from floor to floor but outside exits are locked until an employee unlocks it. I'll give a 4 out of 5 . I am the hairstylist as request upon patients so I see most and this is a caring facility for the most part.

Negative experience: I am a patient here and it is awful, I am hoping to go some place next week. Most nurses are very nice but many of the aides are awful. You ring for them and they do not come. If you have to wear a diaper, they will make you wait almost 2 hrs to change you. The bathroom in the room I am is filthy with holes in the walls. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I plan on reporting this place to the Dept of Health. I am now going into my third week, I asked to be transferred to another facility but were no help, I am so frustrated. The food is terrible and always ice cold. I would highly recommending not coming here!! I finally went home very sick. Anyone that I told about this place agrees with me that the star should shut them down. I just do not understand why they are allowed to stay open. Both myself and my roommate reported this place to the state.

Positive experience: Im enjoying my stay. Everyone has been very nice and I have been getting proper care from my nurses. My social worker has been really important asset to me. She has been very helpful to me. I thank her to the fullest.

Negative experience: I’m giving this establishment one star because it’s the only way that I could write a comment in a review. What I saw there was deplorable the conditions completely inhumane the residents live in Filth! I brought my mother there today to rehabilitate after an ankle fracture and could not believe what I thought! Feces smeared on the wall in the bathroom in her room, bloodsoaked bandages in the hallway on the floor, residence walking around barefoot filthy and drooling I was assured that the place was going to be a wonderful rehabilitation place for my mother to get stronger so that she could return home, I can’t believe a place like this even exists in our country. Fraud is written all over this establishment, they may or may not have several patients getting rehabilitated from injuries and getting medication that they need but I’m positive after seeing what I saw that is few and far between and merely a front to defraud the state, husky Medicare Medicaid. I plan on reporting this establishment to the state of Connecticut. I was even locked in, I could not get out of the building when I decided obviously not to leave my mother there. I can see locking the doors from the outside to end but not from the inside out that’s a fire hazard. The odor of urine and feces was overwhelming and I couldn’t even get outside at my own free will Proceed with extreme caution with your loved ones concerning this facility
