Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at OSC PT three times. I had therapy in June and October 2023 for my knee replacements and recently for treatment of pain in my right leg. Dr Jamie Swale and Cait handled my knee therapy and had me walking better than ever. Therapy for knee replacement can be tough, but they were very professional, knowledgeable, patient and caring. Shortly after, I began having pain in my right leg. I could only walk a few feet. Dr. Jenny Andrus and her assistant Anastasiia Israel were very patient and we tried several alternatives that didn't seem to help. After a consultation with Anastasiia, we decided to try PT. Dr Sydney Van Ness did a very thorough assessment and said she knew what the problem was and said she could fix it in a month. In exactly one month, through physical therapy and a lift in my left shoe, I was walking pain free. Dr. Brittney Kortz and Jennifer Booth also worked with me. They all knew that I was willing to work hard to be able to walk normally again and they all were so patient and caring and willing to go the extra mile to help me. I know that every problem cannot be solved this easily and I was very fortunate to have an easy fix. However, Dr Sydney had the knowledge to diagnose the problem and then knew exactly what needed to be done to solve it. Then, they all went to work together to get me walking. This is what a good team does. They gave me my life back and I am so grateful. Thanks to OSC Physical Therapy for putting the best people to work and giving great results!

Fantastic experience: Can't say enough about how knowledgeable and helpful the staff here is! I had a herniated disc in my lower neck and went a few weeks in extreme pain (multiple Urgent Care and ER visits) before I finally booked an appointment at the OSC. From the moment I sat down with Dr. Carlson I knew I was in good hands! I was prescribed PT before quickly getting scheduled in for an MRI to properly diagnose. I was scheduled for surgery to have an artificial disc replacement performed within no time. Recovery after surgery was remarkably quick. Within 3 days after surgery I was in next to no pain (no medications needed) and was up and moving around the house. after 2 weeks I was given the all clear to resume normal life with no restrictions and I haven't looked back since! Again, I can't say enough about the experience with the OSC!!!

Fantastic experience: Working closely with Bryce Roberson for the last 8 weeks on my shoulder has made a world of difference. At the beginning of therapy it was not known whether I had a torn rotator cuff or not. I couldn't play my guitar without pain, throw the frisbee for my dog, or do much with my right arm. Bryce guided me through rehab, strengthening my shoulder to the point my shoulder feels 'normal' again. The nicest thing about working with Bryce and other staff members was they all made the experience personable. I would recommend the Orthopaedic and Spine Center of Newport News to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Well-trained and patient staff. I never felt rushed or not listened to. I left feeling that I was going to get answers I could understand. Very personable doctor and, a good listener, I was very comfortable with all. Had my follow-up with Dr. Haynes. I could not ask for a better physician, he really wants to help and find answers. I was impressed with his recommendation for testing. When the results were back he included another doctor to further investigate my issue(s).

Negative experience: Just another “treat” and street. Only saw the doctor for 60 seconds, then handed off to four other people. Left with the same level of pain. I will make it a habit to NEVER recommend this chop shop to anyone! !!!VERY DISPLEASED AND DISAPPOINTED!!!

Fantastic experience: I am a 76 year old woman who has had osteopenia and osteoarthritis for quite a while. I starting noticing I was having pain in my shoulders and neck and I could not reach groceries from my second shelves. I made an appointment with Dr Coleman, thinking I had rotator cuff problems like my spouse and children. Arthritis had worn away my Cartlidge in my left shoulder and I also had a bone spur. We first tried an injection, which didn't help for long. I was then set up for a Reverse Total Left Shoulder Arthoplasty Surgery on Jun 23, 2023. I had previously had both knees and 1 hip replaced so I was not too nervous. I went to sleep and several hours later it was done. I knew I was getting a nerve block but was not familiar with one. When I got home, I took off my sling to change into more comfortable clothes and much to my surprise my arm was flopping by my side, swinging like an elephant trunk. I googled it and it said it could last 18 hours, mine was numb for 22 so I thought I had already broken something. First night I slept some in a recliner. Second night I was sleeping in my own bad with the head lifted. The was a little pain but I only took 2 of the pain meds I was prescribed. The balance of the time I took Advil and Tylenol. exercises were not bad and started physical therapy on Jul 6th 2023. I went 3 days a week and graduated Aug 18, 2023. I can again left my arm over my head, put stacked serving dishes back in the second shelf, lift 4 pounds over my head with no pain and to the side. I am back to normal (better than normal). Dr Coleman is a miracle worker. my range is even better than my husband's after his rotator cuff surgery. And no pain. It's the best thing I could have done. Feeling young again. I give Dr Coleman the highest rating it was as great as he said it would be. If you have shoulder pain, he is the one to see. Thank you Dr Coleman.

Fantastic experience: Jan. 2023 my primary referred me to Dr. Carlson because my sciatica had gotten so bad in both legs that I could not walk without a cane or walker. Dr. Carlson explained to me that my cervical spine was damaged and needed to be corrected before getting to my lumbar for my legs. Though I was disappointed hearing that because I wanted to walk ASAP! I was confident that he knew best. Jan. I had cervical fusion done. Procedure went well and with my husband and the great home health care nurses and PT I recovered and was well enough for my Lumbar fusion. Again Dr. Carlson put my mind at ease and surgery went well. I am happy to say that after recovering and having PT I am now walking pain free without cane or walker once again. I am so grateful to God and Dr. Carlson. He was so nice as well as his staff throughout and answered all my questions and relieved my anxiety. I will refer anyone I know to him that need his services. Blessings!

Fantastic experience: The only thing better than a successful hip replacement is two successful hip replacements ! I could not be more pleased with my experiences with Dr. Haynes and his staff. Fantastic experience: I tore my rotator cuff and bicep the end of 2021,and was on the fence whether to have the surgery or not. A few years back my wife had the same surgery and is to 100%. I finally decided to have the surgery in September 2022 and I am so glad that I did. I am 3 months post op and feel great! Dr.Coleman is the best!! Listen to what he says EXACTLY... "No more, No less"... and you will be GLAD you did!!

Fantastic experience: As a patient of OSC I was referred to physical therapy for back pain and plantar fasciitis. When I started PT at OSC I could barely walk. I was in excruciating pain. The staff at OSC helped me reach my goals which included hiking again and providing care for my granddaughter with spina bifida without injuring myself. I am indebted to the team for encouraging me, challenging me and providing expert knowledge. A special shout out to Dr. Boykin, Physical Therapist and Cait Johnston, LPTA and Geoffrey. OSC PT is the best in the Hampton Roads area. The office staff are delightful and the entire atmosphere of OSC PT is professional and respectful.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Carlson performed my spinal fusion surgery in January 2023. It was extensive surgery that I was very anxious to pursue considering my age and health status. After talking with Dr. Carlson and learning more about the surgery and recovery I went ahead with the procedure. I had read reviews and bios to learn more about Dr. Carlson. I felt confident in his expertise for the complicated multi-level fusion I needed. The surgery went well. Recovery was longer and more difficult than I anticipated. I needed a lot of support in the hospital before release and for several weeks at home. Week after week recovery improved as expected by Dr. Carlson. I followed all instructions with lots of help from family. When the time came for physical therapy I was eager to gain more strength and stamina. Dr. Toothaker with OSC physical therapy developed a plan for me to continue in my recovery. He and his staff were amazing. They encouraged me to do more and helped me to stay positive. I felt safe in the PT environment with all the PTs and their assistants. Dr. Toothaker closely monitored my PT plan and as I progressed he modified the plan accordingly. I was thrilled with the progress I was making week by week. Family and friends were amazed at how far I had come since surgery. I am a different person physically, mentally and emotionally since having the surgery and PT. I am very grateful to OSC for being the resource I desperately needed.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Haynes and the team at his office and the surgical center are SUPERB!! I have done well after my TKR on 11/17/2022 - less invasive approach - walking on my own 2 weeks after surgery - still progressing. So very well pleased with the work of this surgeon - best decision to make the drive from Virginia Beach to be cared for by this practice.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this facility to anyone that have a fear of closeness, I did and i didn't have any problems with the MRI. I just didn't like laying there for so long but that's part of the process. The tech was excellent and she was very patient with me due to me having so much pain in my hip. Thumbs Up and Kudos!!

Fantastic experience: I suffered with spondylolisthesis of my lower spine for 2-1/2 years with a different surgeon that kept waiting for my condition to get worse, I suppose cause he kept telling me to come back in a year twice. My condition started affecting more nerves as time went on. A coworker my husband knew that had back surgery agreed to talk to me about her experience and she highly recommended Dr. Jeffrey Carlson. I made an appointment to get a second opinion with Dr. Carlson and I am so very happy that I met him. He has an awesome personality and very caring. Everything and everyone at Orthopedic and Spine Center preparing me for my surgery was Awesome. Dr. Carlson is an outstanding surgeon, I had a quick recovery, no more pain in just one week. We drove from Chesapeake to Newport News to see the best spine surgeon and so glad I did. I tell everyone I know that if they have spine issues, go see Dr. Carlson.

Fantastic experience: I had surgery to repair my rotator cuff June 6, 2022. Dr. Martin Coleman was my surgeon and did an amazing job. The first week was unpleasant however, if you follow his instructions, you will do great. Besides a few aches and pain here and there, my recovery went so smoothly that I was not required to go through physical therapy. Dr. Coleman is very patient and listens to your concerns and addresses them with much knowledge. He tells you exactly what to expect and what is expected of you as well in order to have a successful outcome. I am a proud patient of OSC and I would recommend Dr. Coleman for anyone who is on the fence about whether or not to have the surgery. If you choose Dr. Coleman, you will be grateful that you did. I am so grateful to him for giving me back my mobility and relieving me of the chronic pain that I was experiencing. Thank you again, Dr. Coleman.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Stewart at Orthopedic and Spine center is awesome! He has taken care of two of my sons now. Both had sports related injuries. Both times offered easy to understand information and several options of care. Both times we made the mistake of going somewhere else first. Either due to proximity or taking the wrong advice. We will not make that mistake again. We will notify Dr. Stewart immediately in the future. If there is a con? Sometimes the appointments are backed up.

Fantastic experience: I injured my knee last week and they were able to work me in with my Orthopedist. Everyone was excellent and took such great care of me. My doc wanted an MRI and Roxanne, my scheduler, went over and above. She was able to get me into a spot that became open at the last minute, otherwise it would have been 10 P.M. she was wonderful!

Fantastic experience: Just had my first appointment with osc couldn't be happier with Dr.Snyder knowing I will be able to get rid of some of my pain.

Fantastic experience: I have dealt with spine issues my entire life, however I was quite nervous about having surgery, as I had often been advised (by physicians) that it was risky. Better to try and live with the pain. Unfortunately, I reached the point where even trying to stand upright was difficult, not only intense pain, but I would have to use my arms on my legs to push myself up. My legs seem too weak to carry my upper body. I did speak to my PCP who told me that spine surgery was successful 25% of the time, 25% of the time it made matters worse, and rest of the time, nothing changed. So, with those odds, I bought a back brace and reduced everyday activities. Then I met a person whose mother had Dr. Carlson treat her. She couldn't say enough about him and wrote down the information for the OSC and told me to call and schedule an appointment. I did. I had lumbar spine surgery at the end of February 2023. The first week after surgery wasn't easy but from then on, it was continuous improvement. I am in my 70's and hadn't been able to do many activities because of back pain, my leg muscles were weak but physical therapy has helped and at three months out, I am able to do things I wasn't able to do for at least ten years. I still get pain, but nothing compared to what it was, but then again, surgery did not change my age. What is remarkable is that my back feels "solid", compared to the "unhinged" feeling I had prior to surgery. For me having spine surgery was a leap of faith: I was scared. But the difference it has made in my life is incredible. I can't recommend Dr. Carlson highly enough. Everyone that I have seen at the OSC has been courteous, and professional. They explain the situation and provide alternatives when available. But if surgery is called for, I don't think there is a better choice than Dr. Carlson and his team. He has given me a new lease on life, and I am very grateful!

Fantastic experience: I have had both knees & one hip replaced by Dr. Boyd Haynes. I have had the same experience every time! The office staff is so helpful especially Jennifer who helps with scheduling when calling for an appointment. Dr. Haynes staff members are always kind and compassionate. I literally have ZERO complaints. The staff at the surgery center is AMAZING! Again they are kind, caring & extremely compassionate. I can't say enough about nurse Amy & nurse Angie. This office is one of the smoothest operating practices I've ever dealt with. If my appointment with Dr Haynes is at 8 & I know I have to have x-rays by being at the office 15 minutes early it allows the staff to get the preliminary work done and have me in his office by 8. Dr. Haynes has never been late for an appointment. I think that is an amazing statistic!! If I could give 5+++ stars I would.

Fantastic experience: I met Dr. Carlson in 2005, when after 3 years of horrible pain and meds from other doctors, he diagnosed the root of the pain. He fixed me up and on with life I went, herniated disc was gone. Fast forward to 2022 and my neck is having issues. I didn’t hesitate to visit Dr. Carlson again. He’d helped before, I’ve sent friends and family to him throughout the years, so I had full confidence in OCS and Dr. Carlson helping me again. In March if 2023, he performed a spinal fusion in my neck, and 7 weeks post-surgery I was riding my motorcycle to Key West. Normal life regained twice now, thanks to Dr. Carlson and the team at OSC!!

Fantastic experience: I just paid my fist visit to this facility due to 4 days of excruciating sciatica pain. Once there I was checked in promptly. I waited about 15 mins for my appointment and was then sent for X-rays. As soon as those were done I was taken to a room where the doctor arrived shortly after. He checked the X-rays and described that my spine curvature, lower discs etc etc all looked good. He believes it to be tendonitis and ordered a cortisone shot and physical therapy. Approximately 10 mins later the nurse administered that shot and I was allowed to leave. A very professional, efficient and smooth service. Its the next day and so far no pain. I will do 4-6 weeks of PT and hopefully never experience this pain again.

Fantastic experience: Dr Carlson has given me more info about my back problems in 3 visit then my other Dr did in 5 years. If you are having problems give Dr.Carlson a try. I got my second opinion and much more. Thanks Larry Meyers Just received a epidural 4/14 I arrived a little before 8 for my appointment with Dr McFarland . I received treatment,waited 15 minutes and was on my way home by 8:30. Office staff has always been very polite with me and my wife we are both patients. Fantastic experience: I had back surgery in November of 2022 and was tended to by the doctor's and staff at OSC from start to finish. When my shoulder pain became unbearable i specifically asked to be referred to them again because i was so impressed with their operation. I was not disappointed! they diagnosed my condition quickly and accurately, had me try PT and medication first, and when they were not effective they took the time to carefully discuss the surgery options with me. The surgery was a smooth process and absolutely everything Dr. Coleman told me would happen as far as pain, limitations, and recovery were spot on accurate. He monitored my progress continuously and, once i was far enough along in my recovery, he set me up with physical therapy. He continued to monitor my progress and to talk to me about what to expect next in my recovery. He patiently answered countless questions and explained everything clearly and completely. The doctors and staff at OSC are among the most knowledgeable and professional i have ever encountered. Every aspect of the office is very well run and i would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: On November 18, 2022, I had rotator cuff repair surgery with Dr. Martin Coleman after suffering extreme shoulder pain and discomfort for several months. I followed his post surgery instructions and performed the “at home” exercises as advised. When I went back for my monthly (1,2 and 3) follow up appointments, I can honestly say I have a great range of motion. I am grateful to have been referred to Dr. Coleman because he is by far the best surgeon on the peninsula for rotator cuff surgery!!! The staff at OSC was ALWAYS polite and pleasant on every visit. If you are looking for a surgeon, look no further.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Haynes and Dr. Jim Koske. I consulted with Dr. Haynes in September 2022 regarding reoccurring knee pain. As a 60 year old runner and Crossfitter, the pain and stiffness were interfering with my athletic and day to day activities. As I had meniscus surgery on the same knee in 2016, the meeting with him confirmed that the arthritis had advanced to the point that knee replacement surgery may be warranted. However, Dr. Haynes first wanted to see if my knee would respond positively to Euflexxa injections and physical therapy. I am so happy Dr. Haynes suggested the injections and PT with Dr. Jim Koske. Six months later I am still going strong. I am back to running and just completed an online Crossfit competition. Thank you, OSC!

Fantastic experience: After Shoulder cuff surgery, physical therapy at OSC was amazing. The staff is professional, caring and set individual goals. They got both my range of motion and strength back in short order. Dr. Toothaker and Katyln Jones were exceptional. They take a real interest in your recovery and work hard to give you the personal experience you need to heal. The techs that work with them are also friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. I'd definitely recommend OSC physical therapy center as the place to go if you want to heal quickly.

Fantastic experience: I recently went back to OSC for problem with my knee. The reason I went with Dr. Carlson was because he did back surgery on me in 2012 for herniated lower back disk compressing nerves and causing severe pain in the back of my legs and rendering me incapacitated. Deciding on OSC was a decision made on friends who experienced positive results from OSC for back, shoulder, and knee issues. It is funny how age leads to friends with the same circumstances. Dr. Carlsons bio clearly showed he was the pioneer in resolving back issues. For me doing nothing was not an option. I am too active and needed to get back on my feet doing the physical activities I like to do. Mountain biking and hiking. The surgery involved shaving the disc compressing the nerves. I was concerned with nerve damage resulting from surgery but I am happy to report after 11 years the pain has not returned and my mobility in the late 50s is very good accept for the knee. Most people as well as my self don't typically write reviews unless problems are encountered. I felt my experience with OSC deserves my attention.

Fantastic experience: I recently spent 6 weeks in physical therapy with Dr. Tom Toothaker and staff. Wow what a place!!! I have never seen a business where everyone on staff is happy and actually wants to be a work. I would love to work at this place. Not only was everyone so friendly but I felt like I had the best health care. Dr. Tom Toothaker spends as much time as needed with each patient and he actually listened to what I was telling him. I had wonderful results and I am grateful to everyone. I can't say enough about this place. Many thanks for a great experience.

Fantastic experience: When I came to OSC I was feeling very defeated by my back pain. Everyone I dealt with at OSC worked to help me understand the treatments offered. When I made the decision to have the spinal fusion surgery everything was explained to me and I felt very comfortable going into the surgery. After surgery care was also amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Carlson and his team. They are the BEST!.

Fantastic experience: I had a successful hip replacement surgery with Dr. Haynes and his team over a month and a half ago. Dr. Haynes is a highly skilled surgeon in this procedure, and those who assisted were professional and helpful. It is important to follow the pre- and post-operation instructions, cleaning your body and bedsheets, eliminating certain medicines and vitamins a week before surgery, and performing the necessary exercises to obtain a speedy and complete recovery. The first day after surgery is the worst, but you'll make steady progress after that. All patients heal at their own rate, but I was walking on my own after five days and a mile after two weeks. I still have some pain at night, but it is now dissipating. I'm on the road to a full recovery. I also want to express special thanks to Jonathan, C. J., and Dr. Brittney Kortz for working with me after the operation in the physical therapy facility. They provided me with expert and personal advice to help meet my specific concerns and couched me through a set of exercises that have markedly improved the condition. I had a similar experience before the surgery at the physical therapy center and want to express my heart-felt appreciation to Fred Wintermantel and Tom Toothaker for their concerted effort in treating my pelvic problems. Both were attentive to my concerns and thorough in their analysis, providing me with the best possibility for moving forward and obtaining relief.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Dr.Snyder for a few years. His ongoing treatment plan for my knees works perfectly for me, with no surgical intervention. Dr.Snyder is professional, skillful, kind and personable. He takes the time to answer questions and address any concerns. I am a workman’s comp patient and the WC Rep, Tracy in the office is an absolute treasure. She is professional, efficient and effective in everything concerning my treatment plan and authorization’s, etc. with the Board and with the insurance company. But mostly, she is kind, she truly enjoys helping patients and navigating the many woe’s of Workman’s Compensation. I am a retired Registered Nurse, so I set the bar on the high side and I am very pleased with the care I receive at OSC! I truly appreciate all their efforts and all their kindnesses! Thank you OSC for keeping me happily on my feet and off the surgery table!

Fantastic experience: As I commented to the practice after my first visit as a new patient, I only have high points: 1) Ease of scheduling appointment was outstanding, especially as I was a new patient 2) Excellent communication in advance of appointment including reminders and online appointment check-in 3) Ease and professionalism of check-in with receptionist on day of appointmet 4) State-of-the-art X-ray equipment, but more importantly, x-ray technician communicated clearly and was very professional throughout the x-ray process 5) I had a very short wait to see Dr. McFarland 6) Dr. McFarland's communication - listening, providing feedback, and explaining next steps and continued care - were best practice, including clear diagnosis/prognosis and outstanding "chairside manner". 7) Next steps with medical assistant for prescriptions fulfillment was quick 8) Check out and next steps (e.g. including follow up appointments) were all communicated clearly and professionally. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the overall operations of the practice - especially with the medical professionals and staff throughout my entire appointment. Based on this very first impression, I would highly recommend considering orthopaedic and spine center for specialist care.

Fantastic experience: It has been 15 months since my laminectomy performed by Dr Carlson. I had damaged my back in my 20's, and had recurring periods of severe pain and immobility ever since. At 63, after, several months of pain, inability to walk far or lift anything heavy, and very poor balance, I had the procedure. Following several weeks of physical therapy, I began to get my strength and balance back. Now, I can do almost anything I want with no more pain and discomfort. Great job!! Thank you Dr. Carlson and OSC.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a multi level lumbar fusion with Carlson and Icould not recommend him more. I have seen Dr.'s McFarland, Carlson, and Sureja and I was originally skeptical based on the reviews posted here. I have had nothing but an exceptional experience with each of them. They and their staff are knowledgeable and professional. I give each of them 5 stars. The facility is state of the art and very contemporary

Fantastic experience: On 7 Oct 22 Dr Coleman performed rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder. My recovery, following five weeks in a sling, and doing arm exercises that Dr Coleman told me to do, has been very successful. During follow up visits with Dr Coleman he stated that he was pleased with my progress. I’m so glad I had the surgery, and I am getting back to normal, but still have more to do. Great Doctor, just follow his instructions and you’ll recover quickly.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Carlson and his staff were awesome. I was well informed and knew exactly what would take place before and after my surgery. I had a ruptured C6-C7 disc that was removed and replaced with a titanium disc. This was my first surgery ever (hopefully my last) but if I ever needed another anterior cervical discectomy or another surgery, I'll definitely be returning to OSC.

Fantastic experience: I just recently went through my second shoulder rotator cuff surgery with Dr. Coleman. Due to the complexity of my first surgery (same shoulder), there was concern with the healing process of my second surgery. These two repairs were about six years apart, and was from my own doing; a fall on icy steps was the reason for the second one. Dr. Coleman was very clear and concise on the "do's and don'ts" of what I was tasked with for my recovery process. His expertise and capability in my opinion is unsurpassed in his field. From his direction, I knew what to expect and the level of patience it was going to take to get throught his. And as for the staf at OSC, their courtesy, thoroughness and kindness ranks 10/10. They are most always on time, and I think that says a lot compared to the general concensus of the medical profession, when scheduling appointmenst and sticking to it. 5 Star is not enough, should get a 6/5. Oh yeah btw, their new surgery center rocks too! Don't want to leave them out.

Fantastic experience: I had sciatic nerve pain for over one year and unable to go trick or treating with the grandkids. Figured it was time to get something done so I went to see Dr. J. Carlson and found out Lumbar Fusion was the solution for my lower back. My fears for the back surgery were relieved once I had a discussion with the doctor and surgery was scheduled. The results of the surgery were better than expected and now preparing for a trip to Disney World with the grandkids and being able to keep up with them. C. Portlock Surgery date- 11/30/2022

Fantastic experience: If you are planning to have lower back spinal fusion you have to have confidence in your Doctor. OSC, Dr. Carlson is someone I feel very comfortable with. He has been reviewing my back issues for over 13 years and has provided me with X-rays, PT, medication and Spinal Epidurals to help me. When it came time for me to consider surgery because all the options weren’t working I asked Dr. Carlson to to do it. Dr. Carlson always told me it would be my decision as to when. He always supported me when I needed spinal injections until they didn’t work. That’s when I asked him to perform surgery. The surgery was done and now I am going to PT. Each day is keeping better. I trusted Dr. Carlson and his expertise to do it. I’m really impressed with the results.

Fantastic experience: I'm writing for my Mom who had Carpal Tunnel surgery October 2022. Dr. Carlson was amazing and was very thorough about what he was going to do and the whole procedure went so smoothly. The nurses and staff were very helpful and nice and made my mom feel comfortable during her procedure. No problems afterward and hand is totally healed November 2022 with hardly any scar. Would definitely highly recommend this orthopedic spine center and Dr. Carlson.

Fantastic experience: I Trust Dr Sureja’s judgement, steady hands, and technical brilliance almost every month! He’s Incredible! Monica is Amazing too! They are a great complement to one-another! I admire their commitment to my Health & Pain Relief, I’ve never felt like just “any old patient” with either of them. Their dedication and empathy have not only lessened my physical pain, they have also served to remind me that I am a whole person. I truly believe that they have the drive, the knowledge, and the desire to restore me to Good Health, not just to minimize my chronic pain. I’m forever grateful for their care!

Fantastic experience: For many years I had intermittent pain in my legs from sciatic nerve issues. It progressed and I finally went for relief. Dr. Carlson diagnosed it as spinal stenosis. I had two cortisone shots and two epidurals with no success. Surgery to correct the issue was the ultimate fix. I had a spinal fusion from L2 to S1. It was more fearful in my head than actual. After 1 week, I was walking without a walker. The home health nurse and therapist were wonderful. They helped me understand my recovery and urged me to really work on the exercises. In no time, I was feeling so much better and there was NO pain in my legs. Dr. Carlson has been wonderful throughout all my follow up appointments. He takes the time to answer any and all my questions. I am so glad I went to OSC and I highly recommend anyone with pain to go and get relief. I also want to give a shout out to the OSC-PT folks. Dr. Tom Toothaker and Jonathan Lorusso were fantastic in working with me for my therapy. They took the time to talk, explain and encourage. The facility is clean and the staff were wonderful.

Fantastic experience: My husband started having back pain just as he retired after working 41 years at the NN shipyard. We consulted with his GP but after months of therapy his pain continued to increase to almost unbearable levels. A friend recommended Dr. Jeffrey Carlson at Orthopedic and Spine Center in Newport News. We called and were relieved to be able to schedule an appointment in a week. My husband was diagnosed with spinal stenosis that required spinal fusion surgery. It was a scary diagnosis for us, but Dr. Carlson and his staff thoroughly explained every aspect of his condition, the surgical procedure, short and long term recovery, and were patient and compassionate with us throughout the process. His surgery went extremely well and, while the first couple of weeks recovering from major surgery were difficult, at 4 weeks out from surgery all of the back and hip pain is gone and he is getting stronger everyday. It is life changing for us and we can finally look forward to enjoying the retirement we worked so hard for. Many, many thanks to Dr. Carlson and his staff!

Positive experience: After I submitted my feedback to OSC for my appointment yesterday, they asked me to leave a review, so I am. I thought I'd share so people know to take a book to read while waiting for their appointment. Once you get in, they know what they're doing, but they are not the nicest bunch. My favorite person there is Taylor, who is the only person there who has any kind of customer service skills. In fact, I'm adding a star just for TAYLOR. Dr. McFarland did a great job on my back surgery a year ago, but they are not too punctual with regard to appointments, even though they expect patients to be. I spent over 4 hours out of my day (I'm not exaggerating... 2:30 to 6:45) to attend my appointment and the doctor was with me for 10 minutes. I have a 45 minute drive to get there. I arrived early like they ask me to. I was called back to the doctor's office at 5:30 for a 4pm appointment. Doc came in at 5:45 for my $40 worth of ten minutes. Then, I drove the 45 minutes back home. When the doctor realized I was upset about having to wait for 2 hours to see him, he simply said that yes, he was sorry, but that is how things occur in an orthopedic office. I understand that appointments run longer than expected sometimes, but when you consider lengthy appointments to be the norm, it might be best for your customers if your office schedules either longer appointment times or fewer appointments. Yes, I know this would decrease your revenue, but you'd also have happier customers that would be willing to refer you to their friends and family. Overall, you're in good hands as long as you're not looking for much more than surgery.

Fantastic experience: Dr. J. Stewart is awesome! I have had a near perfect result with a total ankle replacement and tendon repair. He tailored the complicated operation to my complex needs! It was important to both of us that he realistically prepare me for this journey, and that I understood everything that was happening. He was the human connection in the giant machinery of OSC, a large practice, and the reason why I recommend it.

Fantastic experience: I believe in Doctor Martin Coleman and all his associates and staff. Clean, professional. Most of all I needed shoulder surgery. I know I was and will always be in good hands. Thank you staff . Good care and extended kindness. I’m healing and believe me it wasn’t as painful . Do what Doctor Coleman tells you. You too have found a great doctor. I just got married 2 years ago and my name now is , Maria Cochran. Surgery on 5/3/22 .

Negative experience: Be very careful if you’re going to use this practice, was going to have rotator cuff surgery by coleman. The insurance company kept denying the procedure again and again? I received paperwork in the mail from the insurance company and they were billing for ( Total shoulder replacement) In doing so I had to find another surgeon. Fraudulent practice? I would have never thought coleman was like that. I did receive rotator cuff surgery about 3 + weeks later, and no it did not have anything to do with physical therapy it had to do with very bad staff. Let’s not forget about the lost wages of about 5 months because of your carelessness!

Fantastic experience: I have seen Dr. Boyd W. Haynes III, MD for over a decade now for problems from my ankles to my shoulders. One thing I really appreciate is that he takes the time to explain things in a way that allows me to understand my choices, and does so with humor, empathy, and a clear mastery of his profession. His advice and guidance as to what to do to improve and to reduce recovery time following surgery or any procedure has been exceptionally well-thought out and presented in a friendly, but no-nonsense way that makes it easy to process and act upon. Most recently, Dr. Haynes performed arthroscopic surgery to repair a badly torn meniscus on my right knee, and I am happy to report that I didn't use my crutches...except for clearing spider webs. No comment. When Dr. Haynes called me to check on my progress the day of the surgery, I had a lot of questions about what I could do. I followed his instructions and four days later, I was almost back to normal. Also because he used surgical glue, there are NO visible scars.
