Old Dominion Rehabilitation and Nursing: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Overall experience for my family member was pretty good.
Negative experience: No. Never leave your loved one there. They DO NOT CARE. You won't get your medications on time. You will die of thirst before someone asked you if you'd like something to drink. I asked for toilet paper 3 times.... still don't have any. It's been 5 hours since I first asked. The worst place ever. Oh! And make sure you bring your own toilet paper because they will not be providing any.

Fantastic experience: Staff is always nice to me I have no issues with how they treat me at all.
Fantastic experience: No complaints. Staff is attentive and nice.
Negative experience: This place is for the birds. My brother has been here a week without any rehabilitation. He's only allowed 30 day due to insurance. I'm working on getting him out there!!
Negative experience: If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you have a loved one in here, get them the hell out of there as soon as possible. The place is nasty, they serve something they call food and the care from night shift and weekend shift is subpar. I didn’t get my meds on time, had a 3 1/2 hours wait time (twice) after pushing the nurse call button then got an attitude about it. I wasn’t supposed to get out of bed, guess what I had to learn real quick how to get in & out by myself. They put drinking water in my cpap machine (supposed to use distilled only). I was breathing salt into my lungs! When I mentioned it, I was ignored. They also broke the wound pump on my leg. It wasn’t supposed to be touched until my surgical follow up. Damn wound nurse opened my leg wrapping, pulled back the wound cover! Now I’m open to infection! So please don’t put your loved ones through this with this place. They should be put out of business not taking more money from Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances
Negative experience: To be honest after reading the reviews of old dominion rehabilitation and nursing home I was scared for my mom to be here but after going to visit her in there, I'm a lot more at ease. SOME of the staff there needs to reevaluate their life choices but others....OMG this is their life calling. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a few staff members that were out of this world amazing. Thank you so much to the staff who care for my mom. I was unsure how she was going to be moved but Anderson Seraphin was on it! He was patient, caring and considerate of the family. Not only did he take his time but he went above and beyond for my mom's comfort. Thank you to nurse Andi Menegan whose amazing personality is definitely needed! She was kind and respectful to the patients and even apologized when she felt she was being pulled in different directions while helping my mom (which she handled super professionally) . We also thank you nurse Urmila Gurung for going above and beyond to make sure my mom is well cared for. In our short encounter you make me feel at ease leaving my mom in your care. Last but not least I saved the most kudos for Steven Lessard, he is by far the most dedicated, authentic and genuine person I have EVER met. He TRULY cares for what he does and it all the way shows. I am at ease when I know he's on the clock! Steven is wonderful in his demeanor, professionalism and so friendly every encounter. Steven and Andi are the core reason for this review and I truly appreciate their dedication to what they do. Steven is you ever leave here they would not be the same!
Positive experience: It was lil rough in the beginning .. but the turn around was good.. the staff has been good to me since I been here..
Fantastic experience: Everybody is good and I love the staff, they are best and they really care.
Fantastic experience: When I first came here I didn’t know where I was at and if it wasn’t for the staff I still wouldn’t. They have brought me a long way and I love them all.
Negative experience: My dad is here now and it is horrible! The staff is so u professional!!
Adam please submit your contact information on our website and someone will reach out to you today.
Fantastic experience: The "Physical Therapy" team was amazing as well as my mom casework Mr. Julius Campbell. Miss Wanda the Activity Director always had my mom smiling and made her feel so welcome. They are very short of CNA'S but overall they will work with you. Communication is the key. Please express your concerns early and they will work with you.
Negative experience: Short staffed, not the cleanest , nurses don’t come when called. Honestly I would not recommend this place, explore other options, this could be a last resort place.
Negative experience: Horrible please do not have your love one come to this nursing home there unprofessional call ally of times and all they gave me is the run around how our lives one in you all care and her direct number not working or they keep. Transferring me to end up no we’re because nobody want answer and place is dirty I will be removing soon as I get a lawyer only two nurses I liked a commend them they might be the only two that care and was just fully in . If u di not like your job do not work there.Need new management or something.
Negative experience: I’d give this 0 stars but that isn’t an option. My mother in law had been checked in after having hip replacement surgery and was there for 2 hours and NO ONE knew it. We called twice asking for her and they told us she wasn’t there. Then my husband went up there. They told him she wasn’t there. Finally they just started looking for her at my husbands demands. She was in her room, alone, STANDING, and was preparing to leave. We had her removed from there immediately. This place is a joke. And unfortunately not our 1st horrible experience with them. But they’ve since changed their name. Not fooling anyone! Don’t allow your loved ones here!!!!
Negative experience: I came to this facility for rehab, it was my luck to have a urinary track infection. I was met with all kinds of abuse from the staff, after pleading for help 100s of times. I was finally at the end of my rope, so I called 911 four times, until I got a doctor that diagnosed me with a - UTI. Do you think the staff would help me. They would come to my door and yell at me to shut up, tell me not to cry like a baby, then they would take my door and slam it shut. The next thing that would happen, was for a nurse to come into my room and get in my face, and tell me to shut up.
Negative experience: My father is in here now. He’s been left for several hours at a time after ringing his bell. It was so bad that he had to call 911 from his room. Terrible service and openly rude staff.
Positive experience: My father was admitted four months ago and I've been visiting weekly since then. He was transferred from another facility. The intake process was quick and free of problems. Ms. Merrill was professional and put me at ease. I was impressed by the efficiency of the staff to meet requests; everything from appliance hookups to progress reports, to even a simple sit down to raise some concerns were either handled the same day or within a few days. The food could be better, but we do our best to bring him some tasty favorites every week. The aides and nurses that I met have been positive, responsive and do a great job of ensuring my father's comfort. We are very fortunate to have found this facility within a few miles of the family home.
Positive experience: My family and I are grateful for our positive respite experience at Old Dominion after my car accident. As a primary caregiver of my 92 year old loved one, I was in urgent need of respite. Their admission staff were the only ones who responded during my time of need. I met their administrator, social worker and nursing staff; all treated us with much kindness and respect. Their entrance and exit processes were simple. My loved one was relaxed, rested, clean and comfortable every time I visited during her week stay. Even though they are currently in ownership transition and working to enhance their facility and services, I must say I felt relieved and well served for my respite needs. I look forward to another positive respite with this facility.
Positive experience: The staff is very nice, smart, and caring and professional. We were pleased that changes are being made to make things better. The staff is working hard to make this a better place. Keep up the good work!
Negative experience: This place is awful! They do not care or the patients at all. My mother hardly ever got her brief changed and they had put her on thickened liquids but would only bring her 4 oz. Of drink a meal. She never left the room even though she was there for therapy and ended up with covid. Which led to her death. She was very mistreated. Even her bottom was tore up from not being changed and the hospital said she was severely dehydrated. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Please do not put your family member there. I still wonder about her poor roommate. I hope her family gets her pit of there before it's to late.
Negative experience: My mother was here for a week for rehab. Nurses never available to help, had to assist her with her am care myself, daily. Had to go to nurses station to ask for water in water picture daily, had to ask for towel and wash cloth daily. She had to go to bathroom alone although she was suppose to have assistance. The food was so bad, had to bring her meals daily. They really should close this place. Too bad they can not get a negative rating.
Negative experience: Would give no stars if it was allowed, tried to get in touch with my brother. Called a bunch of times and only once they answered, but left me on hold and never got back to me.
Negative experience: This center left a patient at their appointment for 5 HOURS. The office the patient had their appointment at called the rehabilitation center 6 times and each time spoke to an employee and told them their patient was still waiting to be picked up and they kept saying someone was on the way to pick him up. Again, this poor patient waited 5 hours AFTER his appointment to be picked up. Patient neglect. Very very sad.
Emily, We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please note, we do not own or control the transportation companies that are in contract with the Commonwealth.
Negative experience: I would have given zero stars if that was an option! I went to this facility for rehabilitation after a foot surgery. I was left several times for more than an hour after having to ring my nurse call button. I needed help using the bathroom but no one came. I even called out for help saying “help , is anyone there I need help” When they did come and put me on a bedpan . Urine had spilled on me after removing the bedpan from under me and they did not clean me up. I feel terrible for those that have to stay there and can’t speak for themselves! I left against medical advice. Terrible place!!!
Elissa, We appologize for the negative experience that you had. We put a big emphasis on customer service training and aim to provide 5 star service. We hope that you had an overall positive experience.
