McDonald Army Health Center: Reviews
Negative experience: Fort Eustis as a whole seems incredibly unorganized and unprofessional. I’ve had numerous issues with the daycare here neglecting and abusing my autistic child, gas stations/stores, and now the hospital/McDonald Army Family Health Care Center. It’s ridiculous. They give you the runaround on everything. They switch doctors constantly, requiring you to see a new doctor just to get a refill on medications you’ve been taking for months. It’s absolutely absurd. They seriously need to just fire everyone in charge and start fresh.
Positive experience: The facility does not have an emergency room or services. People need to know that #1 this place only provides services those people who have TRICARE prime in other words, military personnel, and their dependence and some retirees up to the age of 64 after that you have to go outside and get your service from the civilian world. Lotta changes being done there just be patient staff is there to assist you to help you get the care that you need.
Fantastic experience: The folks in Gastro are really good. No issues, responsive, and understanding. One of the better medical military facilities I've been to.
Fantastic experience: Picking up medicine is much quicker now since they have you text first to let them fill the meds. Great job,
Negative experience: HORRIBLE CLINIC they take forever to pick up the phone, they are rude, dismissive, and when they do answer they are always in a hurry to get you off the phone! THEY DO NOT CARE about your TIME ! They do not care about your ISSUES! They like to DRAG everything, even when you just need something SMALL they take YEARS just to get it DONE !!!! I ADVICE YOU ALL TO LEAVE THEM A BAD ICE COMMENT BECAUSE GOOGLE REVIEWS ARE NOT ENOUGH !!
Negative experience: My children’s primary provider is here and they never answer their phones or have a way to contact them. It’s really frustrating, I’ve been dealing with this pediatric clinic for 3 years and nothing has changed
Negative experience: Horrible service, It should be the best because is supposed for military personal, but apparently they don’t care anything about them soldiers. If you value your time, please don’t go to that place.
Negative experience: A solution to my child’s hyperactive behavior and issues with paying attention (implying that he has ADHD, which I agree) isn’t stating “kindergarten will be challenging for him” and providing no further guidance or assistance. We’ve been told for 2 years now that we needed to wait for him to be in school to see if that second level of structure would help; which is understandable. So in the meantime, bringing up how “challenging” it’s gonna be after seeing him for merely 10 minutes seems unproductive. I hope this isn’t how the Pediatric clinic is in general, but this visit was harmful and makes me question their professionalism.
Fantastic experience: I love the nurses on the 3rd floor..Stephanie...Kenyatta...Shamicka...Melody..they are kind and professional....love coming to this clinic!
Fantastic experience: Friendly and good medical care
Negative experience: Extremely hard to get an appointment, hardly ever have availability.
Negative experience: Worst military hospital I have dealt with in my 42 years of military involvement.
Negative experience: First and foremost I want to point out that most of the staff was very pleasant with the exception of lab employees. Once arriving the gentleman greeting the patients was extremely courteous and upon checking in on the 3rd floor The staff was very professional and organzied . Once I was called in to be seen by the provider, my expectations came short. The nurse practitioner that assessed me although she was very nice. She was not too familiar with the documentation process as my orders were placed incorrectly. The nurse doing my admission, although he was very pleasant lacked medical knowledge. Needless to say as a medical provider myself I did not feel like I was under the best care with comments of him “missing screws “ and truthfully not evn understanding my medical terminology .Upon making my way to the lab this is where my faith in military clinics disipated. The lab tech was extremely discourteous and unhelpful in every way . My orders were placed incorrectly, and the lab staff was uncooperative in trying to correct the matter. I myself the patient had to go up the elevator twice because the lab staff refused to call the practitioner to change the the erroneous orders . Im well aware of the challenges that come with healthcare as a nurse practitioner myself, I stride to provide the best service for my patients but if I am being truthful, I’ve felt more cared for in any civilian healthcare facility than in this particular encounter. I as a patient would prefer not wasting my time at this facility again because that is exactly what I did. I found no resolution to my health concerns as I had to leave without labs ,without an x-ray , and without the treatment I went and search for. I hope this review brings light to some of the issues that Military families face, and it’s truly disheartening that the non-medically inclined patients have no idea how mediocre the care they are receiving at this facility is . Respectfully , A disappointed military spouse
Fantastic experience: Dr. Prashant Bagalkotkar and the Family Health team is amazing! Went in for a physical, the LVN was so nice and personable. Dr. B came in quickly after and answered all my questions with empathy and patience. I’m really happy with my experience! Laboratory staff was nice. The wait was approx. 30 minutes on a Tuesday morning. Make sure to check in using the kiosk!
Negative experience: I came in pain, left in tears and in pain. I want to call patient advocate so bad. Came for an appointment. They told me I had an appointment scheduled but they failed to schedule it. That asian tech, Joy, in Gastrology, with all the rings yeah don't go to her. She is so rude. Just see another clinic. This one is not worth the gas. Just pay out of pocket to see a real hospital. This is totally not worth it.
Fantastic experience: Idk why their rating is so low. I’ve only been going here for maybe a couple months but no problem so far.
Fantastic experience: Great care !! But I want to highlight their cafe!! is caring and their food is so!! Good !
Negative experience: Trash!!!!!
Negative experience: Absolutely worst hospital experience I’ve ever had in the military. Also each waiting room has multiple TVs on, different channels, with blasting volume. It’s overstimulating and unnecessary. I dread coming here every time.
Ma'am, our apologies for your experience at our facility, our goal is to make your visit a pleasant experience. From your comment, we will assume that this is not the first time you have experienced this, to help us manage your experience and expectations, what waiting room/s have you experienced this in?
Fantastic experience: Dr. Nagorski is a great doctor, she listened to my concerns about my foot issue and we discussed the options that are available to get me back to a functioning foot. She explained my options now and in the future. I'm a work in progress still! The staff at the front counter were very pleasant and the nurse was very pleasant. All in all great care! And all the love right back at you! Take care, be safe Ms. Mill
Fantastic experience: Always great doctors ,lab work radiology department, love it there for meds and to be treated. I’m 75 and they take good care of me. Thanks to all!
Fantastic experience: Pric
Fantastic experience: 3rd floor staff is great. Everyone cares about your appointments.
Positive experience: Arrived 0730 prior to schedualed 0800 immunization. States to be 15 minutes early. See receptionist, fill out papers. She rewrites appointment for 0830 for unknown reason. Sit and wait patiently wacthing people arrive get seen and leave. Finally get shot approximately 0845. Took about a minute. Skipped a second shot as it would require me to return and have it read on Monday with no appointment. Opted not take a chance of waiting all morning Monday and take chances with missing immunization. Note this is not the 1st time issues with recetlption there. Hit or miss if a fluid sercice depending on who calls your number. 2nd note, many great workers there from docs, nurses, clerks to receptions in most areas.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Palmer is awesome. She always takes care of me when I feel sick I know I am in good hands
Positive experience: Good, definitely not great.
Fantastic experience: Love this place.
Fantastic experience: We have had NOTHING but great service and experiences here. We drive a good distance and pass 2 other facilities on our way because we have had such positive interactions. The pharmacies are fast, the doctor's we have are caring, and the facility as a whole is great. Pediatrics is awesome! Family Health on the 3rd floor had it's own dedicated pharmacy and the providers are excellent!
Fantastic experience: I am the spouse of retired Msgt. Theodore Lovdahl, Norene Lovdahl. I had an appointment on May 22, 2019 at the Dermotology Clinic. First I was greeted by MSA Denise Jones at the front desk and I must say I wish all of my check in experiences were as professionally delightful as this one was both checking in and after my appointment when rescheduling. Ms. Jones was a a ray of sunshine on a very busy and trying day and it helped tremendously with all my task and my ability to be kind to others I encountered the rest of my day. You are very fortunate to have her on your staff doing the front end line work and the back end! Looking forward to my next visit, I may just bring her a little gift. Luck YOU!
Fantastic experience: 14 years of good experiences
Positive experience: Taken care of very well
Positive experience: I personally haven't had any issues. Could improve on timeliness. Also, Optometry never sent my 'frame of choice' to my home. Sewells Point is my go to for that. Pediatrics and Family Health are fine here, however.
Fantastic experience: Great service and staff.
