Fantastic experience: In the short time I have worked here so far Consulate Healthcare of Norfolk has grown on me immensely. Upper management cares for the staff well and I have seen so much work put into upgrading the facility to the point where it looks like a completely different place. There are many passionate caretakers here that take pride in providing the best possible patient care and I feel well supported while beginning my nursing career here. My leaders, coworkers, and the patients I care for are a true pleasure. I am looking forward to being part of the change and watching this place grow thanks to our wonderful team.

Fantastic experience: The Therapy Team at CHC is made up of a Great Group of Knowledgeable Caring Professionals. I have seen them find ways to motivate patients to participate in their therapies that other wise they just wanted to sit in their rooms. The Team finds ways to make the Therapies effective, fun and engaging. Patients have a sense of accomplishment after regaining their lost abilities. In the 2+ years of post Stroke Recovery I have regained full use of my Left Arm and most of my Left Leg. I have many people in the Therapy Department to Thank for this. PT - Amanda for Stroke Recovery for my Left Arm & Leg and for the ability to use a Walker. OT - Tracy for continuing Stroke Recovery for my Left Arm. RT - Debbie for continuing Stroke Recovery for my Left Arm & Leg. Therapy Department Head - Mr. “T” for helping me to be able to walk with a Cane and to be able to use stairs again. PT - Maureen for using ESTIM to help me regain the use of my Left Leg Hamstring. OT - Caitlyn for Post Left Shoulder Replacement Recovery. ST - Becca for assistance with swallowing issues. All of these Wonderful People I Credit in aiding me on my journey to Recovery and for this I will always be thankful.

Negative experience: I’m rating this skanky place a ZERO STARS. cockaroach infested, and THIS IS NOT I REPEAT NOT a skilled nursing facility! They left my sister on the floor, because she fell and NO ONE was there to watch her because no one wants to work there. It’s filthy. ONLY 1 RN and 1CNA, and it took 65 stitches to put my sisters ear back together and now because they didnt take care of her she’s on comfort care only so I’m going to lose my sister! Get a lawyer I hear everybody has a suit against them !!! And they’re changing their name again because of all the law suits!

Fantastic experience: The Restorative team (Rehab) is absolutely amazing. When I first entered the facility, I was confined to a wheelchair due to a nervous breakdown that affected my ability to ambulate. The restorative (therapy) team picked me up and I am now able to walk without my rollator both inside and outside of the facility. They taught me trust my mind again and it has been a difficult but amazing journey and I couldn't or wouldn't be here without this amazing restorative team! Thanks Ms. Amanda and Dr. T! I am forever thankful!!! Pedometer app on the phone. Proof in the steps I'm making everyday

Negative experience: Please please please. Whatever you do if you value you life of yours or a love one by God DO NOT GO THERE PLEASE!!! This place do not deserve a star at all. I sent there after a month in the hospital and I'm just 3days I was worse off. I ended up with a infection that I got rid of before going there. Staff was unprofessional, rude and do not care at all. I sat in my own waste for hours and was helped by my roomate. If it wasn't for her I would been way worse off. They also with held medical records and my pain medication. Also kept giving me my insomnia medication so I would stay sedated. Please just don't go you will definitely be better off at home or finding some where else

Negative experience: I don’t understand why these facilities don’t want to pay their employees what they are worth! The CNA’S are the ones that keep the facilities going they are the ones that care for the patients, but if you can’t take care of your employees how does any company expect to have employees that cares?!? These nursing facilities needs to pay their employees more & keep their facilities very clean to keep cockroaches & other insects out the facility & out the patients rooms! Do the right thing & pay your employees more then $17 & $18 an hour what since does it make to pay an agency way more money to hire CNA’S & Nurses to work for you, when the money you paying the agency you can pay the CNA’S you will have more happier permanent workers & your facility will run smoother & the patients will be cared for the way the should be!

Fantastic experience: I was a patient at Norfolk consulate health care. When I came here from the hospital I could not sit on the side of the bed, could not walk, and was not able to dress myself. Working every day with Amanda from physical therapy and Tracie from occupational therapy I am now able to do everything and it is a blessing. Through the help the the therapy department and other staff I am able to do a lot more, get around better, and most importantly use the restroom on my own.
Negative experience: If you're thinking, "I really need my healthcare provider to be an active smoker," then this is clearly the place for you or your family member. Nothing oozes reliable and capable like getting and taking healthcare advice from an entire team that smoke a pack per day. It must be part of their interview process. The place is the largest eye sore in Norfolk. And the reviews will say this but seeing it and the team it has assembled reinforces it. Ashamed this is part of the Colonial Place landscape. No one is following up with these concerns/issues. Police are over here consistently. Another strong measure of a solid recovery choice. I can say with confidence that no one in leadership has a clue what's going on here, it's just another government revenue stream. If they did, the reviews and environment would reflect differently. How do we get this place closed down? At a minimum it needs moved to a part of the city that mirrors its nonsense.

Positive experience: Great environment to work at, the team is so welcoming and awesome to work with.
Positive experience: I visit someone there once or twice a week currently. While sometimes there is an odor in the air, it is from the food being served which, I have to say, is not that appetizing to me but then, I'm a picky eater. I have never smelled urine nor any other bodily fluid. The staff members we encounter are professional, helpful and positive. They are careful to make sure our patient moves enough to avoid getting pressure sores. Honestly, having read the negative reviews, I was surprised as none of those experiences mirror mine. It's not a health spa by any means but then the patients aren't there for that kind of experience. The bottom line is our patient is taken care of at Consulate Norfolk in a manner that exceeds by FAR the way she was taking care of herself at home.
Fantastic experience: When I first came to this facility as a patient, I was skittish, as alot of people are when they first arrive at a nursing home. But the longer I was here and the more I got to know the employees and residents, the more I loved them. The staff was caring and I made some friends. I was sad to leave but happy with my experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs it.
