Solar Urgent Care

Negative experience: I arrived at Solar Urgent Care on Friday, December 6, 2024. The young ladies at the front desk were exceptionally kind. To my surprise, I was seen much faster than during my previous visit, where I had waited almost four hours. This time, It was under dire circumstances and i again saw Dr. Leo Lopez, who is available on Mondays and Fridays. I explained my situation to him, but he interrupted me, disregarded my concerns, and insisted he understood my prognosis even before we received the lab results. He attempted to dismiss my condition, attributing it to my age, and confidently asserted that my labs would return normal. He failed to listen or allow me to advocate for my own body. In the end, he was mistaken, just as I had anticipated. The results revealed a stark contrast to his assurances; my blood count was alarmingly low—critical enough that I could have faced life-threatening consequences. I knew my hemoglobin and iron levels were dangerously low even before he contacted me on that following Monday. When I informed him of this, he merely stated, "two things can be true," instead of taking accountability or apologizing for his negligence. His attitude reflected a troubling ego; if unchecked, it could put lives at risk. He treated me as though I were a child, speaking down to me in a manner that was both condescending and dismissive. I would strongly advise anyone who values their life and seeks a physician who listens to go elsewhere, for Dr. Leo Lopez and his inflated ego could indeed be a matter of life and death.

Fantastic experience: Doctor showed personal interest he was very caring. Only thing they take long to be seen. Other than that I would recommend.

Negative experience: Im sorry but I had to go here due to work because I got injured and I heard the dr and assistant on the side talking asking why was I there for if I had already seen the other dr and I heard them whispering more and more about why would I even be there. That made me so uncomfortable. Even the medical assistant was rude from the beginning it made me feel like she was looking down on me. Front staff super kind and they were pretty quick also overall.

Negative experience: So slow first one in the door and was. Seen fourth or fifth, very unprofessional, the V A should not use them at all, not a nice place at all

Fantastic experience: Wonderful caring and competent staff. Excellent experience with both doctors, (Dr. Leo and Dr. Sterling) that I saw. Their Humanity radiated all over the office. They were knowledgeable and helped me with my infected Bunion removal and wound care after. Thank you for caring about patients as you do. I am very grateful!!!

Negative experience: Unprofessional, long wait. PA “bragged” about how many people he “had” to fail for a DOT physical, then failed me because I am type 1 diabetic. No other follow up questions. And people wonder why the healthcare industry is a joke. This place is full of rookies amateurs. And this is not the first time I have experienced them, my employer chooses the lowest bidder and it shows.

Negative experience: Went to get a tuberculosis skin test. The lady was extremely rude to me. she gave me dirty looks and I can only imagine she thought I was stupid or this or that, overall for the first impression never ever ever go there and recommended to anybody if you’re trying to find somebody that’s nice somewhere literally anywhere else because they can’t Address you in a proper tone of voice

Negative experience: If you want to waist your day come to solar they prioritize customers with better insurance I saw it first hand very unprofessional over all a bad experience

Negative experience: Got there at 1pm filled out paperwork my paperwork says time 1:10pm barely left at 3:45pm they took a flu test at 1:45ish didn’t get the results until after 3pm my mom was advocating for me in the front while I talked to some girl in the back with long black hair who had no clue about anything that was going on she said the doctor goes in “order” which was invalid because a guy from the United Kingdom checked in after me and was taken to the back after me and he left before me so they laid the royal carpet for him probably cause he was white the nurse practitioner who was the only one there with no licensed physician MD on staff to oversee her she was going from room to room but just jumping from patient to patient and never finishing fully with any patient when I asked the girl in the back who is in charge of triaging she asked me what that was which tells me they hire anyone horrible experience and when I got there was told there was only two patients ahead of me but I’m filing a complaint with the DMHC about the way they practice medicine there

Fantastic experience: these guys were great... friendly and efficient desk staff. medical folk were cool. i came in for a wrist injury. all pretty standard stuff. but yea... kind of a no-brainer here. if they don't accept your insurance, be less critical of them and more critical of your insurance. contact your provider and have them tell you where to go. don't like it? move to europe.

Negative experience: Took my mom in today and they wouldn't accept her insurance. And of course the place is EMPTY. the only cars in the parking lot were the employees. Then she says they only take cash and its $160. No wonder this place was empty. Definitely would not recommend.

Negative experience: Not happy, they close at 7pm and came in at 6:30pm and did not wanted to check my daughter. Should put on their website that they close at 6:30pm not 7pm. Yes they will be saying that they take their last patient at 6:30pm, but really disappointed.

Fantastic experience: ER MD sent me straight to hospital . Dx with stage 4 colon CANCER. Still alive alve after 3 years. They saved my life.

Fantastic experience: Took my family on a vacation to see my Mom and sisters and I caught a nasty chest bug. Went to Solar Urgent Care and was treated with respect and awesome care by all the staff. The NP was great, the doctor was fantastic and very personable and wanted to be very careful with the diagnosis as I was going to be travelling in a day. The entire staff made my wife and I feel comfortable and while I hope to never get sick again on vacation, if I ever do I will come back to Solar Urgent Care. Thank you all, very much!

Fantastic experience: I haven't been seen yet but the receptionist is nice.

Negative experience: We had this urgent care as our primary care for about 2 years. There are some things they did well and some things they did not do well. It's strange that they list Dr. Jean Allen as a physician here, when she has never been here for the past 2+ years. She was listed as my PCP, but I never met her. I liked that I could go in anytime for an appointment without calling ahead. I didn't like that the doctor (Parvaneh Firozbakht) never remembered me even after I visited every few months. I also didn't like that the doctor spoke down to me each visit. She would give me information and then say, "You know that, right?" as if I didn't come in for medical advice, but rather, I should already be an expert on my concerns. I also didn't like that it was always a pain to update my regular prescriptions when the refills ran out. This could have been the pharmacy, but I've been using the same one for almost 7 years and this is the first office that I experienced issues with. The pharmacy would say they were waiting for the doctor and the doctor would say they already sent it. It was very frustrating. I will say that the front desk staff were almost always kind and helpful. The first visit I had they told me they didn't accept my insurance even though they did. I wish it could have worked out, but the doctor was so dismissive that I started actively avoiding getting help because she always made me feel like a stupid patient who was a problem to her.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly. Both receptionists were polite and nice over the phone and in the office. The nurse was also polite and friendly. Great customer service and bed side manor by all. Walk-in wait time was also short, less than 30 minutes.

Negative experience: The receptionist told me they were seeing patients untill 6 pm and told me to come down as there was apparently availability. I drove about an hour to be seen, only to be put on a phone hold while I waited outside the facility. When the staff got back to me, I wastold the facility was full and was turned away. It was not 6 pm yet.

Negative experience: BEWARE!! Brought 6 year old daughter here with 103 fever it was an emergency because we were out of town and it was the closest. I work in the medical field and ill say for sure the staff that helped us that day DID NOT know what they were doing at all. Simple vitals like SpO2 levels were not done properly. It took the girl 4x to simply put the small sticky tape and wrap it around my daughters finger to get her O2 levels and i couldnt believe what i saw her do. She never got a reading from my daughter because it only gave her errors and i saw the tech enter the O2 vital readings as 100. That right there is a lawsuit ready to happen if they are falsifying medical records and collecting insurance claims. I was livid but not about to go off on her because my daughter was sick. Dont get me started on the medical provider i saw because was just as horrible, rude and disrespectful. Very short gray haired, old looking lady with an accent. Soooo soo rude and treated us like we were a huge burden and inconvenience to her and even replied back to us in a condescending tone. I have never in my experience seen such a negative environment full of inexperienced, unknowledgeable staff. There are rules, regulations and protocols set in in place for good reasons and these individuals definitely did not abide by them in good faith and to their patients. They are suppose to be the faces of the medical field and of the facility and failed at that also. Highly advised to STAY AWAY from this place! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Fantastic experience: I had to come here twice since COVID, and have received exceptional care. The staff is friendly, patient and resourceful. I don’t usually leave reviews, but these times are demanding and overwhelming I feel for caregivers. They deserve recognition and a thank you, especially when doing good work.

Fantastic experience: I just recently switched from Kaiser to UHC and I honestly didn’t know what to expect from a non Kaiser facility. It’s almost as satisfying as ending an abusive relationship. I honestly used to think all medical offices and doctors were bad. Solar Urgent Care is probably the best medical office I’ve ever been to. Front staff is friendly. Wait times weren’t too bad either. Urgent cares tend to have notoriously long wait times so I was pleasantly surprised. The doctor and nurses were professional and took their jobs seriously. The doctor was very thorough and didn’t try to rush me out the door.

Fantastic experience: My “go-to” urgent care NO MATTER WHAT!! Great service and they are super fast at getting me in! The staff there are very polite and respectful to me and my son 200% even with all this Covid BS. They don’t judge and treat me and my son quick and get my son & me out and don’t leave us waiting In the doctors room. I’d rather come here than go be seen at a regular PCP.

Fantastic experience: We’re here vacationing and my husband was having what we thought was a really painful ear infection. We called ahead and there was about a 15 min wait time according to the nice receptionist. We got there and they were all so polite and got us in and out in less than an hour. He had to have his ear irrigated but they got him cleared out and pain free. Now we can enjoy our vacation again. Thank you to the entire team there.

Positive experience: Whilst on holiday from the UK i became ill and attended this facility. I haven't experienced health care services from another country before. I can only say I had a prompt and thorough service and my illness cleared up within days off attending this facility. If this is representative of american health care I was impressed!

Fantastic experience: Been to several Urgent Care locations in the Ventura Oxnard area and Solar my preferred location. The entire facility is incredibly clean and modern. You can tell they take pride in the facility. The staff were super kind and friendly and showed they really cared. Pretty easy access off the freeway, parking is rarely an issue. They are great with kids and another huge time saver is they can do x-rays right there in the office. No annoying referrals to get image work done somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Can't say enough about this place and their caring people. We all know going to a place, when we are not feeling so good, can be a long and uncomfortable experience. At Solar, they make you feel like a real person. Caring, understanding and take the time to help you on your needs. They go the extra mile. I had the privilege to be seen by Griselda Rosa's. She is very thorough and explains in detail what she is planning for your health care. There is one other girl, didn't catch her name. she does everything, from vitals, x-rays and even draws blood. A real sweetheart. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

Positive experience: Wait time was about 15-20 minutes. The doctor was informative and addressed all my questions and concerns. I would have given this place 5 stars. However, that same doctor was rude to my daughter. My daughter was with me in the patient room on her phone while I was talking to the doctor. There’s a sign on the cabinet that cell phones cannot be used. Dr. Jean Allen questioned my 9 year old daughter if she had any respect because she did not follow the sign. She was so passive aggressive. She said, “you are old enough to read the sign am I right?!” My daughter was put on the spot and felt embarrassed. I did not say anything at the time because I thought my daughter should have known better not to use her phone. After we left, my daughter apologized to me and told me she didn’t see the sign and only realized it when the doctor scolded her. My heart broke and I felt bad. Dr. Jean Allen may be good at her job but not at all compassionate and considerate.

Fantastic experience: Went in, got seen very quickly. I'm from a different state so was able to get a written prescription to take to a pharmacy. Everyone in the office was very friendly.

Positive experience: Solar urgent gave me the official report of my condition that Saint Johns couldn’t give me two days earlier.

Fantastic experience: Read a review on yelp and google. Although a few miles from where I was staying, I was glad I chose Solar. The support staff members were friendly and accommodating. The registration process was uneventful and the wait time was minimal (middle of the week, mid-morning). The facility was clean! The doctor assigned to me was thorough and extremely pleasant, as well as the medical assistant. I would highly recommend this facility should you need immediate minor medical care.

Fantastic experience: If you call, they have a real person answer the phone and talk to you! They work well and easily with the VA. The wait once I arrived took about 20 minutes and I was here about an hour. Had the same procedure elsewhere in the past and it was painful and grueling. Zero pain here, the doc explained everything and ensured I was comfortable. Great experience, easy, positive, clear and comfortable. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Griselda is so awesome! From beginning to the end she made sure I understood everything that was going on and actually took time to explain. The staff is absolutely great! My wait time was incredible because I was back with a doctor in less then 15-20 mins! I recommend this urgent care to anyone and they're open late!
