Bay State Physical Therapy - JCC

Negative experience: No transparency on costs including and beyond copay after insurance coverage. Added up over a few months and I wasn’t informed until a hefty collections bill 3 years later.

Fantastic experience: I am so happy to have found Pablo at Baystate physical therapy. I am almost reluctant to post my review because I don’t want him to get too busy to see me! I went in with neck pain and he Identified the source as much more complex than that. He takes a multifaceted approach to physical therapy, Which has been very effective after only two weeks, and I am on the road to recovery.

Negative experience: When I have gone to physical therapy in the past the conversation has always been about the presenting issue, at this location there was very little conversation between me the therapist, all I heard at baystate elmgrove was personal small talk, my therapist taking a personal call three feet away from me and multiple members of the staff talking trash about a client within earshot of me. I heard very little clinical talk, I will say that there was one woman who saw me twice out of maybe 10 or so appointments who was thorough and spoke to me in a clinically helpful manor. What I have come to expect from physical therapy is discussion of activating certain muscle groups, was to correct if I’m feeling pain, and adjustments to weight and resistance in reaction to the success or failure of specific exercises, I didn’t get that at all it felt like I was annoying the staff members. And I can only say this as for myself, but if the person you’re complaining about calls you directly and asks what the deal is, which is what just happened, they’re not likely to get a good or thorough answer, and are more likely to aggravate the issue Update: they never reached out to me after responding to this review that they would and were concerned about my experience

Fantastic experience: Everyone at this location were excellent to deal with. The ladies at the front desk were always pleasant when scheduling and answering the phone. Nathan Charrette is excellent at what he does. Very pleasant and very knowledgeable. He did an excellent job dealing with my particular health issue. I would highly recommend this office, and Nathan in particular, to anyone in need of PT.

Positive experience: The staff is terrific, the PT Therapists are great. Problem is that I was there for swim therapy at the JCC. The JCC pool room is much too cold for therapy. Though the temperature of the water is good, the air temperature is so cool that I, and other clients, were literally shivering. As the colder weather set in, the room became colder. Any benefit from the therapy was undone by being so cold. The most disappointing part is that the therapist kept telling us that it is basically mind over matter to ignore the cold. We are there dealing with pain issues, it is not on us to also not be cold because it is inconvenient for the therapy. Additionally, the showers for non-members were also cold - it took literally minutes for the hot water to come through to counteract the cold room and the chill to my bones. I went for about 6 weeks before I gave up due to these issues since the the colder weather only worsened the situation. Now I am doing my own therapy exercises at the comfortable YMCA. (BTW, the JCC is notorious for having the coldest pool in the city. Stop making excuses and fix the problem by heating the room.)

Fantastic experience: Was referred by a friend after speaking about the pain I was in. Was on a two month wait to see another Physical Therapist at another facility when a friend recommended I come here. I was able to get an appointment in days. After the initial consult it was determined that what a prior doctor thought was the underlying issue, was not actually the issue at all. I have been coming here for three weeks 2x a week and already feel better. Staff is great. Great place!

Fantastic experience: I had no idea of ​​the benefits of aquatic therapy and how easily it can be exercised. Of course, with an instructor as qualified as the one I have, it is safe and effective.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff at Bay State Physical Therapy are so nice to work with: professional and helpful as well as interesting to talk to while you're getting physical therapy. And there's even a "therapy" dog named Phoebe!

Fantastic experience: Nathan, Paulo and the gang were all great. Had constant pain for the last 6 years, which was waking me every night for the past year. After several treatments I am finally starting to get a full nights sleep. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I work a desk job, play hockey, and have taken a bunch of falls on my snowboard. For years I had constant back, neck, and shoulder pain that I tried to manage myself. I had done PT in the past, but never saw lasting results. I started working with a personal trainer and they recommended Bay State PT. Thanks to the trainers recommendation, Bay State became an integral part of my wellness journey. The combination of changing my diet, improving my core strength, and getting treatment from Bay State has given me pain relief that 10 years of half baked solutions couldn’t. If you’re struggling with pain, I highly recommend you work with Bay State PT.

Folks getting PT here always seem to be pleasantly surprised at the experience, even if it can be physically challenging at times. Starting PT can be really intimidating, but give this place a try - it’s worth it. Less pain, more mobility, and a great team of caregivers.

Fantastic experience: During recovery from a running injury I needed specialize PT care. I was referred to Bay State PT located at the JCC. My experience was entirely positive. No long waits, very nice staff who were interested in individualizing my care and they worked with me to accommodate my tight schedule. The outcome was great. The significant discomfort I was experiencing faded quickly and I’m back on the road pain free.

Negative experience: Would give zero stars if I could. They are immature and unprofessional. They take your money without providing care. They have caused me nothing but problems but refuse to accept responsibility, don't let them steal your money too!
