Positive experience: I didn’t stay here personally but, my mother was a patient she couldn’t sleep or rest because she was constantly looking out for her roommate, the nurses don’t check on patients enough my mom had to get woken up throughout the night to call for the nurses because they don’t give enough attention to the patients on their floor (not every nurse is like this you can tell who likes their jobs and who genuinely care about their patients)

Fantastic experience: Daytime (Christina & Xavier) shifts are monumental when you’re experiencing the long haul with your loved ones. Nighttime is the complete opposite. I have personally experienced exhausting anxiety for the care of my loved one and unless you’re THERE making sure they have what they need WHEN they need it they WON’T get it. The “Nurse Push Button” may as well be disconnected because an employee just comes along to clear the blinking light and a nurse doesn’t show! 3 trips to the nurses station (shift change in the midst) and the 3rd trip (that was within 2 hours) was the charm. PLEASE to ALL….BE PRESENT for your loved ones!

Negative experience: Both my parents shared a room there. They both passed away in September only 17 days apart and never received any condolences from administration.

Fantastic experience: I am taking a class here for several weeks and the facility is well kept and peaceful. The Physical Therapy department looks amazing and every staff member I encounter are warm and pleasant.

Fantastic experience: A nice and clean facility. This place has helped both of my elderly parents recover and get back to walking. My only complaints are that the elevators are very slow and u can’t simply use the stairs because some areas they’re locked with a code.

Fantastic experience: My father recently had a three week stay at this outstanding facility. Both the administrative team and nurses were incredibly attentive and helpful to him and our whole family. The staff was friendly, making him feel at ease the entire time. His rehabilitation fit his needs, and strengthened his muscles and mind. His room and bathroom were constantly cleaned and sanitized. I cannot say enough about this amazing center and its staff. Thank you ALL so much!

Fantastic experience: My dad has been a dementia patient at Elmhurst for More than 4 years and entered during the Covid Crisis. I have to say it came with a few bumps throughout time, but the staff have always been accommodating from to my requests with my dad's care. A special thanks to Elaine Lanni from the very beginning super helpful and currently Alicia Brule. I have had many conversations over the years, all have been attentive to making the situation and my Dad's Care a Priority including the people working in the unit area in which my dad resides, I truly believe these are the people doing God's work and have enormous amount of patience and skill to manage those who have met with the challenge of Dementia. If you have family member with the need of Nursing Care now or in the future Elmhurst goes the extra mile. In Closing I want to thank you all at Elmhurst for My Dad' Care and helping me!!! Ken

Fantastic experience: It is always a pleasure to work with Heather and Tara. They are amazing social workers who are passionate about what they do.

Positive experience: This facility is beautifully decorated - the grounds are beautiful however maintenance does not take care of trash ! Flowers are amazing and if you having cancer treatments very convenient facility -Nurse Armando who picked up my mom every day is a great human! Activities came to get info for hair appt nails and a cd to listen music but then never followed through on anything - I had to call Elaine our liaison to assist us Maryann at the nurses station was a doll… great asset to the team always a smile on her face - 80 percent of the staff were amazing to my mom and we thank you! But consistency lacks and the response time to buzzer really bad! The Staff - all wonderful people - my mom was here for a month undergoing radiation treatment - we were given a Liason Elaine Lanni and thank god for her! Any questions or concerns we had someone to go to’ the consistency of the staff lacked - the buzzer when pressed was ignored too long and the constant beeping in the hallway of the buzzers were deafening - but the staff worked hard in keeping my mom comfortable - my siblings and I however never left my moms side from 8 am to 8 pm because of the lack of consistency in staff … my mom was on morphine before meals and the staffs consistency to keep that schedule lacked … cleaning, PT, food (met with nutritionist and the chef 3 times) no consistency in following the menu choices … cleaning - PT- Christine - Andy - xavier bar none employees - my mom witnessed a mouse in her room/ was frantic and contacted me I immediately contacted front desk and no one answered phone it took me 24 minutes off the phone numbers we were given before I got the nurse on the floor - they calmed my mom down… and I expected nothing but immediate response on the rodent issue - I feel management should tweak and up there game at this facility because it truly has great potential …. but lacked consistency, follow through- and weekend staff was scary. Alicia also a top employee and I thank from the bottom of my heart all the hard work from the staff that did follow through! Update 6/11 we are almost done with our stay here and I must say the items that I reviews about were all addressed - activities followed through- mom was happy with her nails done - ; everyone stepped up their game but shout outs belong to Elaine Lanni, LPN Christine Jackson and Xavier CNA and Armando from radiology were bar none people - RN Alicia also a great person. All and all this place did an outstanding job in helping my mom get through 15 rounds of radiation treatments - I feel management needs to stay on staff with training consistency and the well being of patients and cleanliness … for a home that had no rating - they truly did their very best for my mother

Negative experience: Nurses aren’t too attentive… must ask over and over for scheduled meds, drink of water or just a Tylenol. My father was there recovering from having falls… and was considered a “fall risk”… while he was there… he fell out of bed… he used the call button, but NO ONE came!! He called my mother from his cell phone at 3:00am, while he was still on the floor!!! We couldn’t get ANYONE on the phone to go check on him. I called 911 myself to send help. When I got there about 3:45 am… no one wanted to accept responsibility for anything!! Luckily the EMTs had arrived before I did, they took him to the ER. Nobody called my mother or myself to even let us know he had fallen… shouldn’t that be one of the first things a rehabilitation center should do after calling 911? He was already on the stretcher when I got there… so someone should have called. I couldn’t call them because no one answered the phone… over 45 minutes, I called every 2 minutes until I got there. No one answered!! Bedsheets aren’t changed daily… my father’s sheets were changed daily by myself… after asking them to change them over and over even though they had spots of blood, food and other body fluids on them. The food absolutely sucks. Food was always cold and the portions were very small at best. A few examples… one “breakfast” was 1 hard boiled egg, 2 slices of dry toast and 2 ounces of cranberry juice. One of his “lunches” was a 4 inch bun with a very small “scoop” of tuna and 8… yes 8 french fries, an 8 ounce bottle of room temperature water, and 5 pieces of canned peaches. Last but not least… a “dinner”… also served cold…2 chicken nuggets (3X2 inches)… hard on the outside and almost raw on the inside… 12 french fries… and a chocolate chip cookie. BTW my father was not on a limited diet… except for citrus foods. If your loved ones are non-verbal… pay attention to their surroundings… and speak up for them.

Fantastic experience: My cousin recently had a stay at Elmhurst center. He says everyone here was nice and he received everything he needed. The therapy department gave him good therapy. The food was cold but that could be improved.

Positive experience: Staff is nice, helpful and competent....Like most facilities right now, they could use more if they could get them....

Fantastic experience: In my recent tour with Alicia, the admission director, I was left impressed. The facility had a clean and inviting atmosphere, w/ spacious rooms with a view. The center is dedicated to assisting individuals in regaining their independence through a wide range of services, including rehabilitation programs and various in-house therapies. Notably, their therapy gym is equipped with a car, washer/dryer, and kitchenette, allowing patients to practice everyday tasks like car transfers and laundry under the supervision of therapists. This setup instills confidence, ensuring they feel capable of handling these routine chores once they return home.

Fantastic experience: I had questions and asked to speak with anyone higher up so I can resolve the matter. I was promptly contacted by the director who assured me my concerns would be met in a timely matter. At first I had little to no faith but she definitely made sure everything was on the up and up and all issues of the matter at hand was taken care of. I am very pleased with how my situation was handled.

Negative experience: Elaine lanai the business administrator is the best. No matter the problem she will help. Elaine gets 5 stars not the nursing home. Lisa the receptionist is an awesome caring person who gets the job done who also deserves 5 stars

Fantastic experience: The facility actually has a House Orchestra that gives concerts and rehearses there.

Negative experience: Poorly staffed. Employees consistently quit for better conditions. Sanitary conditions are very poor. Walking into the facility is like walking through a dump, littered with masks, gloves, and garbage. They have little concept of promt service, leaving call buttons beeping for hours. Rehab appointments are not regularly scheduled, instead haphazard in regularity. Quality of care is extremely poor. Do not recommend, at all.

Negative experience: They almost killed my loved on by giving a narcotic that wasn’t hers but her room mates. You can hear the mice running in the ceiling and see them running around. The director is mean and just makes excuses on why their staff is so careless and hateful towards their patients. Simone is the worst thing that ever happened to Elmhurst. She won’t fire the horrible staff. The nurses are giving the wrong medications to the wrong patients, taking narcotics and abusing the residents. Close this place down before they harm or kill someone else. Get someone who actually has the experience to run the place. Worst place ever.

Negative experience: My mom is a resident, 98 years old. I've been trying to get her diet straightened out for months. I can't get help from anybody. I just get the runaround. Leave her for hours in dirty diapers, all I do is make phone calls and nothing gets done. My sister is also a resident there, disabled herself, and has to keep going back and forth to the nurses station trying to get help for my mother.

Fantastic experience: I had such a positive experience at the Elmhurst Rehab. I was skeptical at first but the staff were caring and they work really hard. They all deserve a raise.

Negative experience: I am utterly horrified by the nightmarish experience my late mother endured at Elmhurst. The level of cruelty, negligence, and disrespect she suffered as an ALS patient who was nonverbal is beyond comprehension. The staff's unprofessionalism reached shocking heights. One nurse had the audacity to call her a liar, while another yanked something out of her mouth and callously told her to "speak up" despite her inability to do so. This heartless treatment demonstrates a complete lack of empathy and basic human decency. But the atrocities didn't end there. Walking into her room to find the air mattress mysteriously unplugged, leaving her helpless and in a choking, distressed state, is unforgivable. The fact that her call bell was carelessly tossed on the floor, out of her reach, adds another layer of neglect to this tragic saga. The distressing reality is that my mother was subjected to hours of neglect in her own filth, while the very people entrusted with her care looked the other way. This facility was meant to be a place of support during an immensely challenging period, but it transformed into a nightmare that haunts me and my family to this day. The trauma inflicted upon us by this placeis immeasurable. The memories of the pain and suffering she endured linger, and the guilt of not being able to protect her from this ordeal is a burden that keeps me awake at night. This experience has forever scarred our family and intensified the heartache of losing a loved one. To anyone considering placing a loved one in the care of Elmhurst, I implore you to think twice. The emotional and psychological scars left by their callousness are not worth any convenience they may offer. No family should ever have to endure the horrors we experienced during an already heart-wrenching time. In sum, Elmhurst is a place that embodies negligence, cruelty, and a complete lack of compassion. It has left an indelible mark on our lives, one that will never fade. My heart aches for anyone who has to go through such a nightmare, and I hope that sharing this review will spare others from experiencing the same agony.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Elmhurst has been excellent. When new director Armani Sepe came on board it really transformed the facility. He is personally involved in day to day issues despite the staffing shortages we are all facing. You can tell he takes a personal interest with the residents even down to knowing what their favorite tv station is...if you are looking for a facility for a loved one and don't want to worry about their care, Elmhurst is the place. Thank you to Armani and his entire staff on going above and beyond.

Negative experience: This place is horrible , very filthy & the cna’s there are lazy & mean to the elder people I would never suggest anyone allows their loved ones to be sent here EVER !!! By far one of the worst

Fantastic experience: We recently had my mother in law at the Elmhurst rehab facility. It was such a relief to myself and my wife knowing that she was getting such great care and attention from the entire staff. Particularly Maria , her nurse for the majority of her stay, was one of the most outstanding health care personnel that we have seen in years. Encouraging, kind, knowledgeable and supportive in every step of the way. Even the wonderful people maintaining the cleanliness of the facility were quick to smile and encourage. Thank you all for your efforts. Aside from the day to day people we encountered, the admin personnel were outstanding. Elaine worked tirelessly to accommodate our requests for long term care at an affiliate facility. She had my mother in laws best interest in mind in every aspect of her suggestions and guidance to my wife and myself. Kat and Heather answered all our questions and made themselves available to us for all our concerns. I would not hesitate sending a loved one there for rehab in the future. The end result was our mother was brought thru a very difficult episode , but by the end of her stay and rehab she is now back home, to our surprise, having another chance at independence. Thanks

Negative experience: Not thinking they're doing their jobs right. My mother went there after a simple in and out quick minimal surgery. She ended up with a UTI, STAFF infection, pneumonia, and was sent to the ER several times due to lack of oxygen and falling... They assumed a normal base line was not knowing who her son was and the nurse and social worker I spoke to laughed between themselves about it as if it were a joke!!! (I heard this in a call where I didn't even know there were multiple people in the room as they had me on speaker (in a private/sensitive call about my mother's medical treatment I might add) and I thought at first was only 1 person to find out was a couple laughing about her state amongst themselves) Every time I tried to speak to someone about her it was so unprofessional it hurt. She's now in Rhode island Hospital intubated and non responsive!! HORRENDOUS!

Fantastic experience: I was very happy here. Olaunde, the therapist took me for walks. I had a nice big room and bathroom. It was wonderful. The nurses and everyone gave me good care.

Positive experience: My mother was in for approximately one week . I had to take her home. She had to wait for some one to help her go to the bathroom, no one came light on for hrs. She wet herself because of this at 9:30 pm and no one came in until 8:30 am to clean her. The is an every day issue. There has been one nursing aid Tracy she has been wonderful. As for others I can’t say have not seen many and they don’t converse with you if you do. As for dinner/ food . Some of the food is covered some no covering parading down long hallways to patience rooms. This is not sanitary! The social worker Lisa Hassell and the other girl in her office has been top of the line a true asset to the facility. Helpful, kind and knowledgeable! Dan at the front desk extremely helpful and is such a breathe of fresh air when you walk in or your leaving . The speech therapist was wonderful also along with physical therapy . I just have issues with nursing aids ! I have asked for a commode for my mother and after a week still nothing. Also asked for her to be showered multiple times and nothing. They did not even offer to was her feet when getting washed in bed . She had same socks on for 3 days. Until I notice and changed them myself. There is a lot of good to say about elmhurst but there are some major issues with one on one care. Also one last thing building is extremely clean …. Just wish they could give some better care for the elderly .

Fantastic experience: My mom is here for rehab/ physical therapy after a fall. Very clean environment. Staff is extremely helpful and very pleasant. In these difficult times of being short staffed everywhere, it’s nice to know that what staff they do have goes out of their way to make the patients feel taken care of and not forgotten about.

Fantastic experience: My dad just got to Elmhurst Rehabilitation ... .. and.so far so good. Upon arrival I felt like I walked into an very nice Hotel/Resort. The staff is very warm, down to earth and friendly. I truly hope this experience continues in this positive fashion. (Either way, I'll keep you updated.)

Positive experience: I must say, Elmhurst kept my brother comfortable and pain-free during the three-month period this year when he slowly died of cancer. I made dozens of calls to keep up with his changing health conditions, and staff members were generally caring and responsive. Elaine Lannie in particular, who heads the financial office, came to my assistance several times. If there was one negative aspect of the experience, it was my discovery that under certain conditions, an insurer can "downgrade" a patient, or terminate coverage of him. Then the patient has to pay his own bills. That was news to me.

Fantastic experience: I have been a resident at Elmhurst for over a year now and I am more than satisfied with the facility. The nurses and CNAs take very good care of me. I feel safe and would recommend Elmhurst to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Negative experience: This review is based on my family's experience with the nursing home/memory care unit. I cant speak on the rehab department. My grandfather was transferred there from the hospital. When I visited he always seemed concerned about money kept saying they keep threatening to kick him out if he didn't pay. I ignored it thinking it was memory issue until I visited and he got a visit from financial office asking if I knew anything about his finances even though his health insurance was covering it. A few weeks later I took my 3 month old son to meet his great geandfather just to find he wasnt there. When I asked they did not tell me which I respected and understood. All they said was he was transferred out 5 days prior. So I called my mom for info since she was power of attorney and health care proxy and she didnt know anything other and took her 2 days to get info and found out he has been in an ER waiting for a room that whole time. When she got to the hospital she found bruises on him which she asked Elmhurst about to which they replied he had a fall which wasn't brought to her attention either. Also the staff on the unit was unfriendly every time I visited. If you are looking for a nursing home/memory care for you're loved one, please dont send them here.

Negative experience: I’ll keep this brief. If you want to be in touch with your loved one during their rehab, don’t go here. If you want to be able to speak with anyone about your loved one, don’t go here. They do not answer the call and there is no way to leave a message. When you visit, Good luck finding someone who can help you. Makes you wonder what happens when you are not around. Food service person was great. The nurse Scott was great. Staffing shortage shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of response and care. They shouldn’t take more patients they can’t handle.

Positive experience: Staff was very courteous and helpful. My friend, who is undergoing rehab, wishes he had more physical therapy sessions. His attitude is great and I would want the staff to leverage this towards more progress.

Negative experience: agoNEW Patient would call crying of hunger! Patient would call crying in pain , cry’s of help me !! When I called to get help I had all kinds of excuses , or a grievance would be filed ! Wth a patient should not cry of hunger or cry in pain ,it was quite obvious that there was a extreme issue going on . This pure NEGLECT. When patient was moved to another facility and seen by the physician, patient was immediately sent to the hospital . Physician , Questioned how long patient was left like that ! NO ONE SHOULD STARVE AT A NURSING HOME OR CRY OUT IN PAIN ASKING FOR HELP!! SHAME on you !! A GRIEVANCE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER , IT DOES NOT HELP THE PERSON . PATIENT GOT INFECTION AT STEERE AND LOST HER LIFE ! Extremely difficult to contact patient, or facility STAFF! It is a toss up between Elm Hurst and Steere house Which is the worst . And if you think you can talk to loved ones on the weekend, it’s near impossible. Wake up people we are next in line to be neglected and starve !

Fantastic experience: Working with Elmhurst and their admissions and discharge team is top notch. Their friendliness and willing to “go the extra mile” is refreshing. I am fortunate to have a seamless communication with them and makes recommending them to families and friends easier because I know they will be well taken care of. Keep up the great work and focus!

Fantastic experience: It was a pleasant visit with our cousin. Lunch looked very good. Nurses were attentive to our cousin's request and responded back immediately. Facility was very clean. 5 Star

Fantastic experience: I recently had an opportunity to meet with Alex Benjamin. she graciously, gave me a Mini tour of the Elmhurst facility. She was extremely helpful, and very knowledgable with regards to the care and many amenities that this rehabilitation center provides. Fantastic experience: Staff are always so truly friendly and not that face friendly just because your there visiting your loved ones. Also facility is always clean everywhere!
