Rock Canyon Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center

Fantastic experience: I toured many nursing homes both in Pueblo and Colorado Springs . We settled on placing my mom at Rock Canyon Memory Unit based on several reasons. The facility was clean , very well staffed , and adequate room throughout the facility. I was at first hesitant in placing my mom in any nursing home. However, I am very pleased with my decision because Rock Canyon has exceeded all my expectations. The staff is very caring and helpful. I have 24/7 access to my mom and I have peace of mind the she is receiving the best of care. Thank you Rock Canyon staff for caring so much.

Fantastic experience: Rock Canyon is a really great facility with highly skilled staff that provides many essential services for their patients. The social worker is especially connected to the patients and families.

The staff strive on building great rapport with the residents. The facility provides a robust programs for the residents and has a variety of activities to enhance the residents well-being and quality of life. This is a great place to be.

Fantastic experience: The staff is great and they inform me of all incidents regarding my father.

Fantastic experience: My husband was in their care for six months. During that time they treated him and everyone around him with lots of care and kindness. These workers really try their best. The facility was cleaned daily and the activities crew always had something planted for the residents. They really care, we recommend them.

Negative experience: I have a relative that is a resident here and they have been a resident less than 6 months for long term care and have been hospitalized at least twice monthly from falls, infections, or viruses. They do not accommodate their disability/diagnosis for activities. The equipment they need and that was specifically supposed to be for them has now disappeared. There are no reports at the facility of incidents. They are severely understaffed and often overlook moving residents or checking on "alarms" going on with equipment for long periods. If you or a family member receives care here, document EVERYTHING.

Positive experience: My brother is being cared for to the best of a facilities capabilities. He was comfortable and clean and his sites were clean. And he smelled great.

Negative experience: My mom was here until she passed away January 11th 2021. Worst place ever. My father told Parkview hospital he didn't want my mom going to this facility because of all the covid but they didn't listen and still sent my mom there against my dad's request. While my mom was there we never got any reports about my mom care unless we called. Not even from the doctor or nurses. When we did call to see how my mom was doing they said oh she is just fine but she wasn't. Her cell phone was stolen before she passed away January 11th 2021 and I wasn't called about it until we went to get her stuff after she passed away and I asked where the cellphone was and they said she never had it but I know she did. When she passed away we were not told why or how. I called day before and was told she was just fine. They are liars and thieves. I would not send my worst enemy there. My mom would still be alive if she received the proper treatment

Fantastic experience: I have worked there for years and would never want to work anywhere else , the management and floor staff are like one big family that truly cares and loves their residents, it’s been the best career choice I have ever made !

Positive experience: I had a very enjoyable visit today with my brother. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was, no offensive orders. Also in general it seemed to have a cheerful atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: I worked here for almost 5 years before moving back home to be with my mom. I then returned after 3 years and there isn't a single facility or company that compares to Rock Canyon anywhere, I went. We care about our employees and their satisfaction which makes them love it here and in turn provide Excellent care to their residents. Covid has changed a lot and that's out of our control. But, here at Rock Canyon we have strived to return to the normalcy of before Covid. Best group of people I have worked with in my entire career!

Fantastic experience: My dad has been treated so well at this facility by everyone: nurses, CNAs, physical therapy staff, social worker, and front desk. His needs have been attended too promptly!

Negative experience: Spider webs all over the building. My step dad passed before he was going to go here. To me it's a good thing. Old windows and ac in the windows. Find a better place for your loved one. Probably the worst place I've seen.

Fantastic experience: I've worked at Rock Canyon for 1.5 years now. I love the fact that we collectively continue to improve, change, adapt, and learn from our mistakes and our success. I really feel confident saying that ANY patient can see the passion I put into my job every single day. I know there are tears and smiles and we work with it all together. That's a home. That's team. Thats a family.

Negative experience: This is nothing but a warehouse. At night you wait hours for help. There isn't a coherent plan to wean off of my ventilator. I am 3 hours from family.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very welcoming and treated me like family. I was nervous about having to stay in a rehab facility, but if I ever had to go to a rehab facility again, I would choose Rock Canyon again and again. I would recommend this facility and this staff to everyone. Everyone from office staff to therapy had my best interest in mind. Thank you all!

Fantastic experience: I have had my father in law at this facility several times. He enjoyed the staff he worked with, especially the nurses and cnas! They gave great care to him and communicated very well with our family during his stay. We would recommend this facility to others!

Negative experience: My mom passed while she was in there the staff there mislead me and my daughters I would call daily to check on my mom alot of times they would not answer the day of my mom's passing I called I was told she was fine sitting up talking that there was no change but in fact there was my mom stopped eating drinking and taking pain meds and her urine had changed and because of that they knew she was going to pass anytime she had no longer than 2 days left we was not told my mom ended up passing by herself alone

Negative experience: There lier's they don't let you have your mind of your own.they help you they make things worse they talk to your family before they talk to you. I WANT TO LEAVE.

Negative experience: Every time I call up there to check on my mom, they either don't answer. tell me her nurse is too busy, are just send a message thru the operator saying , my mom is still the same I pray pray pray my mom is being treated right. Please GOD!

Negative experience: Do NOT allow your loved one into this place -- especially if you're out of state. My father-in-law was forced into accepting Assisted Living/Rehab after an emergency room visit. His doctor recommended this place and it wouldn't surprise me if they were somehow financially linked. My brother-in-law settled him in and as soon as he left the state -- Rock Canyon called my husband to insist that his father had to be immediately moved to a more secure facility across the street. It was either that or leave altogether. They added that he "may have a roommate". My husband agreed to the move but decided to fly out to make sure that all was well. Thank God he went! His father was moved to a bleak and stark room with two room-mates. My husband described it as "One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest". His father had bruises and scratches and his glasses and several possessions were missing. To add insult to injury, they were charging the same and were keeping mentally ill patients of various ages with memory care seniors!! We would have never known had my husband not gone out there. I'm reporting this place to the Medical Examiner's office for investigation.
