The nursing staff is patient and caring and Marcia is always available to address any concerns or issues regarding my sister’s care. Ken, in the business office, is friendly, thorough and efficient. His help navigating insurance, paperwork and online services, for my sister, is invaluable and very much appreciated. I highly recommend Alta!

Fantastic experience: I've had a wonderful experience at Alta From the moment I checked in with admissions Kayla, things have been gone very smoothly. Nurse Charmaine took over and made me feel right at home. I was very nervous to come here but she made me relax inmediately.the care and kindness I received was very unexpected. You hear horror stories about these types of facilities but im here to tell you if you ever in need you can trust Alta. Throughout my stay Kayla checked on me whenever she can which was much appreciated. Rafael, lizzy and nikki cna were very kind to me when I needed it the most. I call them the dream team.

Fantastic experience: Service is very good, the nurses have a good bed side manner, very loving, very caring, great sense of humor for everybody. Therapist are very good and understanding. All in all it's been a positive experience. I'm glad that I actually came here.

Fantastic experience: Alta Skilled Nursing facility is better than other facilities of its kind in the area. I know this because my dad has been in a few of them. He receives good care here. The nurses are friendly and are cognizant of my dad's special needs. Ken in the Business Office has been especially helpful; he has gone out of his way several times to accomodate us and continually ensures my dad is well taken care of. Thank you Ken for caring and making my dad's stay a comfortable one!

Negative experience: This is a horrible facility. They say they are short staffed and use it as an excuse to neglect their residents. My grandpa was hurt here due to the neglect of the staff and they never reported it. I wish he never went there and if he could go somewhere else we would take him without question. For anyone wondering if you should take your family to this facility, only do if you have absolutely no other choice.

Fantastic experience: My Aunt was on a visit to Lake Tahoe and fell and hurt herself. She ended up at Alta Skilled Nursing in Reno. Her care was outstanding and she got out of there pretty quickly. Ken in the Business Office was especially helpful in explaining to us the insurance copays and coverages. He also helped her with placing orders on Amazon and DoorDash. Very helpful. Great facility.

Fantastic experience: My mom has been a resident of Alta Skilled Nursing for over a year now. The nurses and aids are pretty helpful, when she has questions or issues they seem to care and help us figure things out. Charge nurse Marcia Lawhorn is always helpful when I have questions. Ken Jakubowski has always been more than helpful with anything I contact him about. The food is hit and miss. For the most part they do a good job feeding that many residents 3 times a day.

Fantastic experience: This is a true gem of a facility! The management and staff were so good to my family friend during their stay there. The food was actually palatable and the nurses were caring. I’d recommend this place to another person in a heart beat.

Negative experience: I only been here a few days and I am ready to leave. Food have no nutritional value. My space is a $300 day cubby hole.two TV in small space. Staff noisy and rude and unprofessional. I'm only working toward leaving.Establishment sited for way to many violations.I am a health care retiree, physical and mental health and this is the worst I have ever seen.

Negative experience: They over work their staff due to being understaffed giving 32 patients to one nurse , who can get to that many?? Blaming their staff when something goes wrong, due to being understaffed . Your love one will be ignored and neglected due to management issues , not nurse neglect . (sourced from someone who works there) Add on : to the reply of me misleading information. We have report papers showing all the patients one nurse work on in a 8hour shift (can unload those as well) . Also I will encourage others to do a review of exactly how many patients each nurse had and impossible to get too . Which I’m sure they’d loved too since it could resolve in her getting fired for “neglecting” when they were overworked with patients by management. Thank you!

Negative experience: I do not live in Nevada but I have a elderly relative who is in Alta. I have tried for 2 days to reach his nurses station and no one answered. I cannot even leave a message. You should be able to speak with someone at this facility and not just listen to prompts and then just silence. No ring .My relative cannot hear and does not use a phone. This is absurd! If a facility doesn't have enough staff, that is a staffing issue. The owner needs to address or medicare should

Fantastic experience: I was transferred here after having 'life saving' emergency surgery at Renown. It was a 1/2 hip replacement procedure. I was informed that it would be a 7-8 week rehabilitation stay. With a extreme positive attitude, I completed the rehab process in 3 1/2 weeks and was discharged. The facility was modern and extremely sanitized..Rooms were fine, had a library, piano, food service was fine. Basically all the comforts of home..I would highly recommend the facility to others. Negative experience: I’m very disappointed in this place . Every time I try to call I never get to my dad room. It’s getting old . I live far from him . I feel the operators didn’t care to help much . I think it time I try to find somewhere else for him.

Positive experience: Hello and thank you to the very help full staff they do a great job 5 star I gave it a three star rating because their social services office in particular the gentle men I had for a social worker not very accommodating to the issues I was having and was just walking thru everything by policy nothing extra . Sometimes a little ittle extra could help. The care was outstanding pt. Food and all the medical was good care. THANK YOU

Fantastic experience: I can not express my gratitude to the nursing and caring staff of the 200 wing. They always keep me in touch with my mom's care and progress. Alta skilled nursing is a wonderful facility. Thank you all for your care and kindness as well as for going above and beyond my expectations.

Negative experience: Do not even deserve 1 star. Mom has been in there for 5 weeks now and according to the nurses, no improvement. They didn't even know why she was there until today. No one calls back, can not get any answers...elderly neglect in my opinion. Next step is an attorney.

Negative experience: My mother was admitted for short term rehab. When she was back to herself we could not get her discharged. My calls were not returned and I kept getting the runaround by social services. I am a nurse and her primary caregiver. She didn’t need any DME’s or prescriptions. She has her own primary care physician to follow up with and there was absolutely no reason for keeping her there. They were using up her Medicare days unnecessarily. The only good thing about the place was the therapies. Otherwise nothing good about the place.

Negative experience: This facility suffers from poor hiring practices. They retain certain staff members (nurses and CNAs) who are neglectful of their patients and combative with family. My grandmother stayed here for approximately two years. While she received good care from certain nurses and CNA’s, she received very poor and neglectful care from others. Over the two years my grandmother was here, many of the staff who took pride in their work left. The staff who remained (subset of staff who cared about their patients), found themselves overwhelmed with the workload they had. Over the course of two years, as my grandmother’s care declined, we realized we needed to relocate her to a different facility. She is being extremely well cared for elsewhere. I implore anyone reading this review, who is considering placing their loved one at this facility: please strongly consider alternatives, if possible. I know care options are limited, but the staff and ownership at this facility are combative and manipulate. The ownership prefer patients who are sedated, cognitively disabled, and lack family to visit. These patients don’t cause problems for neglectful staff. If you intend on taking an active part in your loved one’s life, in their care, and intend on exercising your right to visitation, you’ll find this facility problematic. They interfered with my family’s right to visitation, and neglected my grandmother.

Negative experience: Changing review. Turns out they treated my friend well until money ran dry. Lied about applying for Medicaid. Don’t send your loved one there if money is an issue. My dearest friend was admitted to Alta. I have experience with care facilities. I have to say I’m impressed. All the staff has been exceptional on answering questions or directing me. Navigating this has been challenging, they have made it easier. A special shout out to Hadeal, she’s amazing! Easy to reach, knowledgeable, and goes above and beyond! Ken in the business office has been very clear on explaining the process. I feel very confident on this facility to care for for my friend. The facility is clean and well staffed!

Fantastic experience: It is clear once you enter Alta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that the people there care about its employees and residents. The staff is very professional and caring. I have witnessed the quality of care while visiting a good friend who needed rehabilitation. My friend is doing well and is very happy about where she is and feels like she is getting the best care! Based on what I have witenssed, some of these reviews seem mean-spirited. I would imagine taking care of the elderly and their family members must be very challenging. It seemed to me that most residents were happy and being well looked after.

Negative experience: Just overall disappointed with this facility. One CNA changed my 70 year old, 110 lb mother by themselves and she fell. Hit her head. She’s in there for a stroke.. they sent her to renown E.R. Where she received care for the gash on her head. They coached that CNA supposedly. After the incident I just felt like they wanted to rush to get her out of their business. Don’t bother commenting to this post trying to justify or excuse what happened there. You’ve done enough!!

Negative experience: Very disappointing and concerning experience for my grandmother at this facility. There is such a major turnaround for CNAs, that the quality of care is very low for patients. My grandmother's clothing was constantly stolen/lost, when we brought her food it would be sitting rotten in her room, she was not regularly showered or well-kept and generally in poor shape. She had an infection, and when we tried to notify Alta, they denied the infection until we asked for proof with the results of the test, and the test was positive. We needed to move her to a different facility due to neglect, and the care at her new facility is *significantly* better. I write this review mainly to encourage others to reconsider before putting their loved ones in this facility.

Negative experience: The negligence that my mom experienced here borders on criminal. I had to contact my attorney to get her out of there. The lack of help is dangerous. Don't put a loved one there! Very bad!!!

Fantastic experience: Nurses, are excellent !

Negative experience: The name is Kenneth A.Miller…..and he died the day after we removed him from your facility…..you gave him one shower in 3 weeks…you didn’t take care of the wound on his back…..you let him sit in a soiled diaper for hours……you gave him insulin without checking his blood sugar….until he finally refused to have it any more….and we did have a meeting…..we did talk to the nurse….we did talk to the social worker…..you didn’t do anything that you said in the meeting….I am reporting this faculty to Medicare…..and any state authorities that need to be notified…. .Food is inedible….care is inadequate….schedule shower for Tuesday and Saturday, knowing they don’t have staff on weekends to do the shower….push button and wait over an hour for anyone to come in…..ants in the room….so far, not a very good experience

Fantastic experience: My ex husband is set to be transferred to Alta as of today from Renown. He has just had his knee removed from his joint and has to have antibiotics administered for 6 weeks before they can put the knee back in. He is in a massive amount of pain and he has rheumatoid arthritis and has had it since he was very young. This is the third knee replacement and this one has infected his blood. I hope that you will take very good care of him because he has been through a lot in the last 10 years being unable to walk and function as a normal 40-50 year old would. This visit to Alta will either make him or break him mentally. Please please take good care of him he is dealing with a lot of pain and he really doesn’t deserve to be in so much pain. I read your reviews and I think that everyone has a different view. Renown nurses gave you guys a thumbs up so thanks for doing what you do in advance. Good luck with him and we will be seeing him On a regular basis thank you Sandra and Amanda (his daughter) oh btw his name is Ronald Raschen he is a retired city of Reno parks worker. Thanks again!! UPDATE: Hands down Alta is the place to take your loved one if you need short term care!!! They were fabulous and took excellent care of him!!! He fully recovered!! Positive experience: I was a patient at Alta recently after having foot surgery. When I was told that I needed skilled nursing for a few week of rehab I chose Alta. It was my first choice. I actually worked in a skilled nursing facility at the time and have been a patient at another here in Reno, and have had relatives in various facilities all over Reno/Sparks over the years. I have seen most in town and knew Alta would be my best choice. The therapy team was great, nursing was great, and I was thankful they provide a menu a month in advance so I could determine if I needed to select an alternate food choice. My only complaints were that sometimes the CNA failed to turn in my alternate food choice and the kitchen refused to provide me with an alternate meal at the last minute AND the shower rooms were in pretty bad shape. They had piles of soiled towels on the floor, were cold, and cluttered with unused equipment. They could use some updating. OH! And the vending machines were stocked with out dated. The potato chips I purchased to go with a grilled cheese were stale and outdated by more than 2 months! Being a skilled nursing employee I know what to expect going in but I can advocate for myself and still feel that I made the best decision for myself at the time. If I need skilled nursing again, I would choose Alta again.

Negative experience: Alta would get NO STARS if that was possible. Alta does not encourage family and friends to visit their loved ones even though the State Health Department encourages family and friend contact for mental and physical wellbeing. Alta makes it very difficult and will not work around work schedules. The employees can come and go and be with their families but the residences are deprived of the love they get from family and friends. I speak from experience from having a loved one, and friends at Alta. I have seen and experienced the depressing state that these patience are in thanks to Alta. I have seen the depression and guilt from family and friends that are denied physical contact with the people they care about. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If at all possible find another place.

Fantastic experience: It was great to see Judy again. Had a long talk about things and enjoyed each other. Tomorrow I’m bring a large sheet cake with 81 on it. It is coming straight from the baker. Will pic it up at the bakery and bring it straight to Judy’s window and wish her a happy birthday. Fantastic experience: My grandmother is a resident at this facility and our family has been so pleased with her care, especially during this scary time for all of us. The staff is wonderful and even though we cannot visit due to COVID safety protocols, we know this situation is for the best. Reno's levels of infection are so high and we are beyond blessed knowing that they're taking every precaution to protect their residents and their families, as well as their own staff.

Positive experience: This is one of the best rated places of it's kind in the area. I can't imagine having to fulfill the obligations the staff deals with. My sister has been a resident here for many years now and is doing well. Many people find it difficult adjusting from a normal life to an environment where they require assistance in their daily lives. I can't imagine my demeanor if I ever lost the ability to function normally physically, or how strenuous it must be at times for staff members helping individuals try and adjust. I've never been there so I can only speculate and try not to criticize those facing circumstances I've never had to deal with. We are Catholic, my sister and I both pray a lot and I try and help by mailing her rosaries should they be misplaced or lost. I monitor the progress of all my orders via tracking numbers and know exactly when they are shipped to when they arrive at the destination. I've purchased my sister several rosaries and I've noticed the nicer ones arrive at the mail desk there, get signed for and then things get confusing. I purchased her a small silver and turquoise colored rosary in a beautiful case that oddly vanished and conflicting reports were relayed back to me. I haven't seen my sister in several years and she has improved from the horrific accident that got her placed there to a state she passed a competency test and seems to continue to improve. I would enjoy seeing her and the environment she's in as well as meeting the staff who care for her. A vacation from work and some time away from this area seems very appealing.

Fantastic experience: My aunt was a recent patient at Alta and we’re beyond grateful for their care. The staff was incredible and most went above and beyond their call of duty. Whenever I had a question or my aunt was in need of something, it was quickly answered/resolved. She spoke highly of the food and loved her room. The help she received was immeasurable at a time when we couldn’t be there as much as we’d wanted.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this facility! Quality care for our loved one who was undergoing rehab for a shoulder injury. She had nothing but praise for the care she received, very caring staff and detail oriented. We were very glad she was able to recuperate here.

Negative experience: If you want your loved to live I suggest you do not send them to this facility!!!!! I don't even want to give them one star. They almost killed my mother, they have made her situation worse. I don't want to get into details cuz I will only get mad. Please explore other options before going to this facility!!!!

Negative experience: If you want to sit a an dirty brief for hours at a time. Go there ! When you hit your call light after the office goes home you most of the time wont be helped until hours later . if you disagree with the cna the write you up as your the bad one. With the male nurse agreeing to it A lot of the staff talk bad about you in the native language. The owner doesn't seem to care when told out the problems.

Negative experience: My mother recently passed at Alta. She went in with no life threatening illness, except being 98 years of age. Nobody would ever call me back with updates. even though myself and other family members left messages. It was impossible trying to find out how your loved one was doing. I did several skype calls and she was always lying in bed with hospital gown. I packed her several nightgowns and a warm up suit and never saw her in any of them. I don't know how much therapy she had. She was always lying down. Thanksgiving they put her in a wheel chair, unattended, and she fell out. They told me she pushed herself out on purpose because she didn't like it there! Bull! I was told they found her 30 minutes later after she fell. She ended up passing from pneumonia. She died indirectly from covid. I felt she didn't get the proper care because of her age, and they were too busy with covid patients. I couldn't go in, but somebody passed covid, as her roommate tested positive and several other patients!

Negative experience: In regards to the owners response. Please do more follow up with your managers!. What you are claiming is not happening! And, there are no visits as of now due to 2 student CNA's testing positive for covid! When there were visits, it was outdoors and only once every 2 weeks! Right now i would not place anyone here! Especially if your loved one cannot communicate! The care is sparse at best. They are only getting the one star for the few caring employees that they do have. Other than that you cannot get anyone to communicate with you, the nurses stations never answer or return calls. The manager doesn't return calls, the administrator doesn't return calls, and you are left wondering what is really going on with your loved one. Diapers go without changing, showers don't happen like they are suppose to, calls for help go unanswered. No visitors allowed makes it really easy to get by with less than adequate care. All of this for the most vulnerable that do not have any other options.

Fantastic experience: I have been in 5 different facilities over the last year. Alta is by far the best- the therapy staff is great and the nursing is top notch. Didn't enjoy the food, but I feel that this is a great place to get better.

Fantastic experience: So, I called today to get info regarding admission for my husband. After Toni graciously answered my many questions, including recent negative reviews, I was extremely satisfied with this experience. They are under a new owner that seems very responsive to customer and patient needs. Unfortunately my husband is a dialysis patient and they are at their limit for this type of care. I really appreciated this information. It shows they are not just accepting as many as they can house to show full capacity and maximum profit.

Negative experience: Providing care is Great but extremely racist n discrimination is made perfectly clear n they don't want you being black nurse to succeed , they only want their kind n race to excel n have no respect for Professional Black Nurses it's really sad... - Regent Care!

Negative experience: Do not send someone you love to this facility. If I could give less than one star I would. My mother in law is paralyzed on her left side from a stroke. The nursing staff purposely put her call button on her left side clipped out of reach so they would not have to answer her. She was unable to get to the restroom on her own and they left her soiled for hours. She fell out of her wheelchair and was bleeding all over the floor, they did not seek medical assistance and when asked what happened they lied about it and didn't report it! My mother in law is in the hospital again because of their lack of care. I would not wish this kind of care on anyone.

Fantastic experience: I am a relative of a resident at Alta Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and he loves this place. The staff is very responsible and cares a lot about their patients. The new management has already made changes and is looking to remodel and bring the facility to its full potential.

Fantastic experience: THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! The new owners and new management are truly wonderful people. They are renovating the building and making it such a comfortable upliftling place for our family to be. I will 100% send any family in need of services to this facility. Couldn't ask for a better place to be when life is not going the best.

Fantastic experience: This facility is under new management and the new management has made a number of improvements, including hiring more nursing staff, rolling out new systems, and putting patient care first. Nurses and Residents have already started to comment on the new improvements and new management only took over 2 weeks ago.

Negative experience: The P.T. staff is good, but management is horrendous. My father was placed in care to recover from sepsis, and the good news is he's still alive, the bad news is Regent isn't the reason why. 1. Meals. My father is under orders for a liquid diet, his swallowing reflex is weak, and pneumonia has damaged his lungs. EVERY SINGLE DAY the kitchen neglects to check his restrictions, and EVERY SINGLE DAY he gets food that he cannot eat. We have had multiple discussions with the administrator, to no avail. "We will fix that immediately" results in no actual changes. 2. Weekend care is non-existent. My father was struck by terrible pain (later imaging showed it to be kidney stones) on Friday night, and Saturday we tried to get a doctor to diagnose him, but there would be no doctor available until Monday. We transferred him to the E.R. early Sunday, when he fell out of bed, cutting his head. 3. General care is quite poor if you need help. My father was supposed to sit up during meals and for 30 minutes afterward. Occasionally that was done, occasionally it was ignored. When his kidney stone started hurting and sitting up was too painful, it took 40 minutes ***after the call button was pressed*** to get help to move him to his bed. 4. His oxygen pump is supposed to be plugged into a "power failure protected outlet", but the cord on the pump is not long enough to reach the outlet, so he's on an unprotected outlet. 5. His bed remote control does not work, so he cannot control his bed's angle or height. His extreme discomfort has resulted in two falls from his bed, both of which sent him to the hospital ER (against the wishes of the care facility) ======== The staff seems concerned but overworked too much to allow them to give adequate care to those that need it most. My father is lucky enough to have family that can visit through lunch and dinner, but your family might not be so lucky. I cannot recommend Regent Care Center.

Positive experience: I'm a resident here and I have to say that I love it so much.

Fantastic experience: Father-in law has been in 4 care facilities in Reno/Sparks in the last year. Regent was the last one and was the best. It was clean. He was super needy of care. His wound healed up in a timely manner and he did not get the bed sores he got in other facilities. They provided wheelchair transportation to doctor's appointment and were on time. He liked the food. Most of the rooms are double - but that is what Medicare pays for. You can make the room warmer or cooler to suit your needs. The staff pays attention to the individual person's special requirements and were always gracious when we interacted with them.

Negative experience: My nephew is on hospice care in the Reno facility, as of the last 4 days he has fallen 3 times, he was violently jerked from the toilet by a CNA , we were told she was suspended, the next day she was working. Time after time they have lied and have been completely disingenuous and uncaring. What I have learned is "IF IT ISN'T IN THE CHART, IT DID NOT HAPPEN" Make sure that they chart everything accurately as they did not chart a fall, which led to head injuries, the staff that were on that night did not chart , thus it did not happen. Stay away from this place at all costs.

Negative experience: Horrible people work here. They do not care for the patients.

Negative experience: We brought our father to Regent Care in early December 2015 because we were told it had a great group of therapists. That was true. Unfortunately numerous other problems arose during his 13 or so days there. My sister or I was with him there nearly everyday and at least one family member visited daily. We had one problem of someone turning the heat off in his room on at least 5 occasions. Not down, OFF! One time upon entering his room and finding him not there I asked if he was showering or something. The person on desk said he was in the day room. Due to his condition he was supposed to be kept in his room. Another time slightly after dinner my father said he was tired and asked to be put in bed as he was in a wheel chair. I asked one of the care givers if she could help hm to bed. She inturn asked a CNA if she would assist. The CNA exclaimed " nobody goes to bed until all the trays are picked up". Another time a little elderly woman was right outside my door not 15 feet from the nurses station and I heard her say at least a dozen times she was cold. Finally after 20 minutes or so someone came and took her elsewhere. We asked that he not be placed flat on his back while sleeping and it was ignored. He contracted pnumonia. Upon finding him one morning in a stupor we wondered how he was so lethargic. Later we found that they had given him an oxycodone. They said for pain. I guess they didnt have a Tylenol. Another time my father needed to have his medication before sleep. My sister asked the nurse if she would give him his pill. She went over placed it in his mouth and started to step out of the room, but my sister asked if she was not going to give him anything to drink. The nurse came over and grabbed my sister's drink and put it in front of my father's face. The nurses station with juice and water was only 6 steps away. We were flabbergasted that this was the way they did their work while family members were present. We brought our concerns to the administration and social work and the first thing they said to us was....." We feel that you are attacking us". Two days later my father had to be removed to the hospital because his bladder had not been monitored and they were afraid he was going into kidney failure. The person who noticed his distended stomach,. was my sister. Again, all therapists were wonderful. I had a friend that asked me about skilled nursing homes. That's what brought me to do this review. I do not recommend Regent Care.

Negative experience: My husband required Physical Therapy after 38 days in Cardiac ICU. He had triple by-pass surgery and a shattered sternum and was unable to walk or get out of bed without assistance. We were assured by their Saleslady that this was the place where he would receive the care he needed. The staff is made up of the surliest group of people I have ever had to deal with. My husband pressed his call button for help getting to the bathroom but after 20 minutes he had to have our daughter call the nurses station to ask for help for him. She was told 'we don't have enough staff for something like that' It took a total of 35 minutes for someone to help him. The 2nd day there, he fell twice and the 2nd time laid on the floor for 45 minutes with his call light on. He kept asking for a shower and was told for FIVE days that he would have a shower when it was 'his turn' He was there a total of 5 days and had no Physical Therapy(the only reason he was there). The elderly residents are at the mercy of the staff and I would not allow my dog to stay in this horrible place. I find it very scary that such places are allowed to remain open.

Negative experience: My Uncle Joe died on January 7th of cancer. When he first arrived he handed over his savings to this facility along with his pension and social security. This was for the care he believed he was going to recieve. When my Uncle passed this facility did not have any kindness to even post a tiny obituary in the paper notifying his friends and family of his passing. I called the paper and was asked to send $250 for an obituary. But was also infomed that most care facilities provide this information for their clients. NOT THIS ONE! And when I would try and call I could never get to him because there were no phones in his room and the nursed had no time to bring one to him. You see....I live in Wisconsin and relied upon this facility to see to my loved Uncle a decient last days. And even in death they failed!
