Fantastic experience: I have been to a few physical therapy and chiropractor places before but I have seen improvement with my problems for the first time here. When the pain started going away, I thought its a fluke and gonna come back soon but I haven’t had the piriformis pain for 2 months. And am also seeing improvement with my shoulder pain thats been troubling me for years. Highly recommend for the quality of care!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to ProActive PT since 2008 now, and they have always had me back in shape with the right techniques, along with teaching me accountability for my own body. Most recently, I went to see them for dual reasons - a frozen shoulder and plantar fasciitis! It was a long journey because these are pesky problems, but they never stopped trying different approaches to make steady progress. Nupur explains what she is doing, why she is doing it, builds on previous sessions activities while keeping current state of the body in mind. I am blessed to have found this PT clinic!

Positive experience: Staff is friendly and easy to work with. I wish I got my itemized receipt on time from the admin staff there. It was also weird that my last 3-4 appointment out of pocket charge was $10 + more.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Pro Active Physical Therapy! The team of therapists here are so dedicated to helping their patients receive great care. I have been seen by different therapists here and what impresses me the most is that they provide holistic support. I have learned from them over the years that the pains or ailments that usually take you there are often symptoms of other underlying or related issues. They work to really get to the bottom of the issue and not just the symptom. Their attention to your whole body is unmatched and a truly incredible to experience. I have NEVER had such great care and I am so thankful to have found this practice. They are truly wonderful and I have had such great results from them any time I have needed their care. Negative experience: I recently visited this place to get help with my shoulder and hand pain. Dr. Nupur conducted the initial appointment and then transferred my case to another therapist who didn’t even know what Dr. Nupur’s diagnosis was. She literally redid the assessment and gave me therapy which on the surface helped me, but after getting home, it resulted in more pain with numbness in my whole arm. For my next appointment, I requested to be seen by Dr. Nupur, but she refused to see me. When I asked when she was available, the rude staff said I had to get treated by the other doctor because Dr. Nupur had transferred my case. Dr. Nupur is skilled, but not everyone on her team is, and it is very unprofessional of Dr. Nupur to not even see her own patient when requested for a valid reason. Now I have to find another therapist, with more numbness now present in my whole arm.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Fantastic experience: 5 starts for the whole team. I had a string of injuries to my knee and ankle the last couple of years and Ritu helped get me back to normal with therapy and exercises. I also want to shout out the admin staff - Ame who always greeted me warmly when I checked in and Lenaisa who was extremely patient and helpful through some frustrating insurance issues.

Fantastic experience: I've been a patient at Proactive Physical Therapy for 10 years, and my experience has consistently been excellent. After a car accident left me with persistent back issues, Megan became my go-to physical therapist. She not only provided targeted exercises that helped me recover, but also took the time to educate me about how to manage inflammation and gradually build strength. Her approach was thoughtful--she encouraged me to take it easy when my back was flaring up, and then guided me to push a bit more as I improved. On the administrative side, the billing department made the process seamless. They worked directly with my medical and car insurance companies, so I didn't have to stress about payments or reimbursements. This level of support made a huge difference during a challenging time. After a decade of care, I can confidently say that Proactive Physical Therapy is a place I would highly recommend to anyone needing rehab or ongoing physical therapy. The team is knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely cares about your recovery.

Negative experience: I second the review that if you take a break for even two weeks, they charge you an evaluation. This is a money first place. I feel no matter how small or big your problem is, they're going to make you come 4-6 weeks minimum. And nupur is supposed to be the best here and I was treated by her, but I don't think they know the best. I had come here for middle trapezius pain that didn't go away after two months as well, and initially they suggested I do some sitting posture correction exercises.. and mind you, she doesn't tell the purpose of these exercises, she just asks you to do this gatekeeping as much information as possible so you keep going back to them. I've been there 3-4 weeks in total, somedays feeling worse than I've felt in the two initial months, when asked , she said "I don't know what you're doing to cause more pain", well, isn't that exactly why I'm coming to you? I took it to my own hands later on, learnt from YouTube videos that a wrong sleeping posture aggravates this, and I've been mindful of the posture from them, and I've felt much much better since. While I agree they do have 70% of the knowledge to help you, they'd only help you for the money and number of sessions. Empathy is what's lacking. But if you know exactly what the source of your pain is, maybe you're better off learning on your own. There are three things that you need to do : 1. Muscle relief 2. Strengthen 3. Stretch. And something to reduce your body's overall inflammation ( take more omega 3s/ body cooling food) and to improve blood circulation to the affected areas( red light therapy/ cardio or saunas- point is to sweat to eliminate toxins and improve blood flow) . For the second part- the clinic uses cupping techniques, I'm not sure if this is the best way for blood circulation - maybe yes if the patient is barely able to move. And electric massage with cupping - this actually decreases the load on the particular muscle by straining muscles(like a workout ) that rely on it( based on where they determine to place it) - so remember to increase protein intake to help speed up recovery in case you are getting this done. I wanted to appreciate her knowledge and skills in root causing the injury and The personalized exercises and stretches she provided significantly improved my mobility and reduced pain. My therapist was extremely nice and genuinely seemed like she wanted to help. She took the time to listen to my concerns, provided effective treatment, and sent me home with exercises to continue my progress. Negative experience: For the love of God, don't come here. I have tried so many times to talk to the administrators and billing department of this company and can confirm that they are incredibly unhelpful and not focused on any kind of customer service. First time I signed all of the patient forms, I was asked to provide a credit card, though I was told that I would never get billed without getting an invoice first or being notified. That never happened and my card was just charged willy-nilly. When I complained, I was sent to the billing department which told me that it is not their process to send invoices ahead of charging credit cards. This was the opposite that I was told at the front desk. Second instance, I scheduled a follow-up after 2 months (because it was the holidays and I was seeing if the exercises were making a difference) and had a regular checkup with my PT. Later I got a bill for $150 which I was confused by because I was told that checkups were only $70. When I called to ask I was told that I was scheduled for an evaluation and not a checkup. I don't understand how it's an evaluation given that this is the same problem I've been going to checkups for and it was the exact same process. I was told that it is their process to charge as an evaluation anytime the patient doesn't come for longer than 30 days. It is nowhere in any single patient form I signed when I signed up as a patient that this is the policy. There was no way for me to know that I was going to be charged double the price for what I considered a checkup and what I explicitly called a checkup when I called to schedule. I once again was sent to the billing department, and hilariously was told that if I wanted to discuss this with the PT therapist that I would have to schedule another $150 appointment to discuss this further. Every single interaction that I have with this office comes with surprise. After surprise of charges that they do not disclose ahead of time. They keep telling me that what they're charging me is the same as what they're charging other customers, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they are not actively notifying what those processes are and their surprising customers with bills that were not expected. I have tried time and time again to contact the leadership of this company but all I get is being sent to the billing department. I am incredibly annoyed that people will continue going to this office, not knowing how incredibly terrible they are at customer service. Do not come here.

Positive experience: Helped me to start recovering from an overtraining injury and improved bad training habits.

Fantastic experience: Lenaisa at billing helped work with my insurance, at the time when the insurance placed Pro Active Physical therapy in out of network bucket and all my PT claims were rejected. It was upsetting to see the bills especially when you know that insurance was to cover it 100%. I am happy that now all the differences are resolved. Thanks!

Fantastic experience: Nupur is a passionate and experienced physical therapist who knows the human body very well. I saw her for my hip pain. She found which part was weak and what was restricted through some motion and muscle tests right away. She adjusted my spine and restriction was removed! She gave me some exercise to do at home to strengthen the weak part. My friend told me he avoided shoulder surgery because of her. I highly recommend Nupur!

Negative experience: Unprofessional physical therapist I have ever seen. Didn’t help with my lower back pain at all. I don’t think I get the service quality for $150 charging

Negative experience: Their billing department is terrible, there is miscommunication between my insurance and the provider, insurance didn't pay at initial and I got charged for whole amount, then I keep calling my insurance and finally got them paid for all the claims. Now, I am asking for refund . since insurance paid in full, I called and emailed billing , few weeks past, have not received any refund.

Fantastic experience: I came to Dr Vandana for neck pain. I was extremely in pain and was having really tough time. She is a great doctor. My neck pain issue is almost resolved. 100% recommend her.

Negative experience: Awful in all terms. The lady at the desk misplaces your papers. She lost our MRI reports and lost one person’s ID in front of me. Dr. Nupur wants fast results. If she doesn’t see progress, she loses interest in the patients. Even after mentioning it to her that the pain started again and there was a big blue clot, she said that’s normal in physical therapy. We stopped going to her after she made my husband’s foot injury worse. There is a novice assistant as well. Dr. Nupur leaves you with her for putting suction cups and she does not know how to put those. We went there after reading the reviews but beware. They may be good for usual issues but the moment you bring in an issue which they haven’t seen before, they start to experiments rather than telling you to see someone else. Similar to how Dr. Nupur clearly said we don’t take hand issues as it takes long to recover, she should start saying this for the issues she doesn’t understand.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend Dr. Oza to any of my loved ones without a second thought. I have been seeing her for hip pain for the last two months, and am so impressed by her skill as a diagnostician, practitioner, educator, and care provider. I came in with pain that was significantly impacting my day-to-day life, but without any idea of why it had started. In our first appointment, she quickly identified a connection between tightness in my back, pain in my hip, and weakness of a nerve stretching along that whole path, all the way to my big toe. My PCP and an online PT had both failed to correctly diagnose the source of the problem. She deduced the source of my issue and my progress along the course of treatment experimentally -- checking my mobility, adjusting something, and then checking again. It is through this process that I came to appreciate her work so deeply and that I felt assured our course of treatment was helping me heal. She calibrated her treatment to match my personal mobility and strength goals, and created a course of treatment that has allowed me to resume my regular activities without pain. Her team is efficient and organized, and the office is neat and clean. I have always received ample time with Dr. Oza during my appointments and the rest of the care team as well. I'm grateful to have stumbled upon this office, and although I hope I don't get injured again any time soon, I'll rest easier knowing I have such a wonderful team to return to if need be.

They pinpointed the root cause through assessment and devised a comprehensive treatment plan. Fantastic experience: My experience with Pro Active Physical Therapy is one of the best physiotherapy experiences that I have had. Right from getting quick appointments (including the first one), to the evaluation, paper work, weekly physiotherapy sessions (very much on time) to very courteous staff, the bar was high on every aspect. Nupur is a very passionate, motivated, knowledgable and experienced physiotherapist who always has her thinkers hat on. She evaluated the bad case of frozen shoulder for me quite well, set the right expectations and still managed to be optimistic, thoughtful and compassionate, yet pushing me slowly and surely towards a full recovery On a personal level, it is inspiring to see such PT’s and such practices

Fantastic experience: Effective and simple. I had lower back pain knee issues and they helped me managed it and get rid of pains. They taught me about back health, gave me stretches to do at home, and held me accountable for the goals I told them I wanted to achieve. It’s not an easy journey, but we can all learn to take care of ourselves better. They’re a great starting point for long-term health. It works. Just take it serious, be patient, and trust the process. Take it from someone who wasted their time going to the chiropractor first for short-term relief.

Fantastic experience: Nupur is the GOLD STANDARD when it comes to Physical Therapy. I have had the pleasure of going to Nupur for almost 17 years and she never fails to amaze me. I have had all kinds of issues from back issues (L4/L5 disk) to bad posture to tendinitis to shoulder pain. Nupur is excellent in diagnosing issues but she also takes the time to explain the issue and gives you guidance on how to change your lifestyle so you can address them in the long run. I will forever be grateful to Nupur and her staff for fixing my issues and I can tell you she is one of the best (having been to a dozen of them) in the bay area. All the best!

Fantastic experience: I have been having treatment in Proactive Physical Therpy for my shoulder and ACL for half year with Ritu. Ritu is very professional, careful and patient. She made progressive plan for my knee after ACL reconstruction, and I am able to run and get back to my favorite sports now. Also I suffered from shoulder rotator cuff pain for more than a year and since I had the therapy with Ritu half year ago, every time I can feel my shoulder was getting better, and it is healed completely now. Thank you Ritu!!

Fantastic experience: Ritu has been my PT for the last three months. She is very caring, professional, and a wonderful person. I started seeing Ritu in the fall initially. When I had to re start physiotherapy in January for a different problem, I told my doctor I wanted to see Ritu over anyone else he would refer me to. Ame, who works at the front desk, is also very friendly, professional, and helpful

Positive experience: Mixed review: Pro: - I went to Nupur with a shoulder mobility issue, she was able to diagnose it immediately, described why it was happening, and put me on a stretching regimen that resolved the problem. The rest of my review is more negative, but ultimately my problem was resolved, and I'm grateful to them for this. Cons: - If insurance is covering your visits, this facility requires you to put down a credit card to cover any cancellation fee, but any copay will bill directly to your credit card, without first sending you a bill, or even sending a receipt. - Pro active physical therapy overcharged me (no chance to dispute, since they charged my credit card directly without sending me a bill first). I had to examine my credit card bills to discover I was being overcharged, it took two months to get a refund, and I had to threaten a chargeback the refund. - After an initial consultation with Nupur, I was in the care of her assistants. A typical visit would be a 15-minute electro massage, an evaluation of stretching mobility by the assistant, and then being given one more stretch to practice at home. However, when I flagged that I was having pain, the assistant didn't adjust: "let's get through the stretches that Nupur originally recommended, and then we'll see if it's still a problem" Overall, I was impressed by Nupur's ability to diagnose the problem, and I understand that given insurance's low reimbursement rates they have to fit in as many clients as possible, but it was extremely annoying to have to discover for myself that I was being overbilled, and my experience with the rest of the team made it feel like I was being strung out to get more visits from me. So, 3/5 - solved my underlying problem, but their office has multiple issues that make me not recommend them.

Negative experience: One of the worst experiences while working with the administrative staff - Ame Molina. She is exceptionally rude. They have gone ahead and charged my HSA account for 3 visits without even asking/notifying me. They even charged me in Jan 2024 when I never even visited them post mid December. When I called to get an explanation of the charges, I am given an email address (gmail based). I am told they don't have the contact number of their own billing department and I need to email to a gmail address to ask for explanation or even request for a phone number. What kind of scam is this?

Fantastic experience: Nibha Kumbhani did a fantastic job of fixing an issue with my knee that my GP didn't even bother to examine or diagnose. It took a few weeks of regular visits to Proactive PT, but I haven't felt any pain or experienced the issue at all since completing my treatments. The office is well appointed, the staff is professional, and I'd have no issues coming back if I was in need of physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: Dr Nupur quickly find my problem and helped me through my pain on shoulder. She is really experienced in identifying problems and giving relevant exercise to patient!

Fantastic experience: I went to proactive physical therapy with neck, shoulder and arm pain and tingling. Nupur quickly confirmed my suspicion that it is a pinched nerve and put together a plan that will alleviate the pain and strengthen other muscles so that the trapezius muscle doesn't strain too much. She has more than 30 years of experience, and she knows exactly what muscle does what in each scenario. When I had a setback in the plan and aggravated the muscle while doing some weights, she was able to reverse that issue and I continued on the plan. Ankita, who assists the therapist is also very easy to work with and helped me a lot. Due to the expertise and care from Nupur and team, I am able to resolve the issue and be better than before the problem even started. I highly recommend them for your physical therapy needs.

Fantastic experience: I've been to Proactive PT for 15+ years. Nupur and her team are awesome. I went to other physical therapy places before and none of them fixed my issues completely and it just kept dragged on and on even to the point my insurance ran out for PT. Nupur is direct to point out where the root issue is, and with her magic hand, she truly wants me to get well and discharge me. She's very experienced and knows her stuff very well. Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Pro Active PT. Nibha helped me treat a meniscus inflammation (I had 2 meniscus surgeries in the past) and after around 8 sessions, I am back to sports and feeling much better. My treatment consisted of exercises (done at the studio and at home), cupping and massage. Nibha is very attentive and supportive, the exercises were shown during the appointments and were also available online, and the schedule availability was very good too. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this place! Vandana my physical therapist has been phenomenal. She took the time to listen to my concerns and devise a care plan that truly fits my needs. The sessions are a combination of deep tissue massaging, cupping and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) followed by exercises. Vandana is highly educated, very patient and caring, and takes the time to demonstrate the exercises and make sure to adjust them for you if needed. She always checks-in with you at the beginning and end of each session to make sure you are on the right track and making progress. I should also give a shout out to the front desk! The team at Proactive are all very friendly and nice which makes the visits enjoyable and comfortable. Ritu is very thorough and pays attention to the details, which I really appreciate, and she has a very professional and highly skilled deep tissue massaging technique that is incredibly helpful and makes my injury feel better during my visits. The technique she uses is so helpful that I wish the sessions could be longer. I feel like she truly cares for her patients, which is a gem of a quality that is rare to find. In addition to her caring personality and skilled massages, I really appreciate how she demonstrates new exercises to me and observes if I am doing them correctly. I have been working with her for a few months now and still have a while to go in terms of recovery, so I will update this review at the end of my visits. I hope that in the next 2 months I will be able to get back to running and other sports pain-free.

Fantastic experience: I recommend Proactive Physical Therapy to all who are dealing with any sort of pain in joints or muscles as the physio therapists here are super knowledgeable and great at what they do. I have worked with almost all of them here but I would like to specifically commend Dr.Nupur who is very diligent and thorough in her work. What I like about her is that she listened to me patiently each time when I shared my problem and devised a plan which yielded the best results keeping in mind my body’s state and condition. Fantastic experience: I've been here twice in early 2022 and again now in mid 2023 for my knee - I have started running on and off and everyone has been so helpful! They use cupping when I'm in the clinic and give me stretches to do at home to strengthen muscles around my knee, pelvis and core to keep the strain off my knee. It's helped a lot! Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: I injured my rotator cuff muscle during this season snowboarding. Ritu helped me with stabilizing my Shoulder and making it even more resilient. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Sadly did not have the best experience here for treatment of my specialized issue. I called ahead of time to make sure that the provider had experience with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders and was assured they did, but within the first few minutes of my appointment it was very clear that they did not. Their methods for treating me were not based in science, and I left feeling even more frustrated and unheard. The provider did not truly listen to my concerns. Lastly, billing charged me for the visit even though it was covered by my insurance and only refunded me after 2 months of me calling in weekly to get them to work with my insurance. Overall, this PT may be fine for general issues, but I do not recommend for highly specialized issues such as EDS or HSD.

Negative experience: Service - sessions are half hour, I spent 20min lying down with a heated pad on my hip, doctor wasn’t even within sight. 5min hip massage and 5min rushing through potential exercises. Doctor said I would be emailed the exercises but I never received any emails after my sessions. Billing - Charged me way more than the insurance claim, and I didn’t receive any notice - no invoice nor email. (Claim says I’m responsible for ~$20, got charged $70) I only saw the amount from my credit card bill. They store your credit card number and charge automatically. I switched to Silver Creek PT, their service and customer care is so much better

Fantastic experience: After my delivery, I had severe plantar fasciitis and heel spur. No physical therapy or chiropractor helped. Found this place online , it’s pretty far for me but I still went ahead for postpartum rehabilitation. Went to this place for 6 months, what started off with postpartum rehabilitation moved into working on my neck and shoulder region and then eventually went back again for my plantar. The one person I closely worked with was Ritu. She is so soft, courteous and extremely amazing when it comes to teaching me the exercises. I used to look forward to each session as her massage therapy helped release knots in my body! Extremely patient and helpful and is always ready to listen to all your ailments and provide the right solution. Pro Active will definitely be my go to place and Ritu will always be my go to person for physical therapy! Without her help and guidance, my conditions would have definitely not improved. Many thanks to pro active and Ritu in particular!

Fantastic experience: Ritu was awesome in diagnosing the root cause of my neck pain which stemmed from upper back muscle weakness. She eased me into some basic exercises first, monitored progress through weekly sessions and accordingly added more strengthening exercises. I was able to be back at the gym in 6 weeks. Fantastic experience: Ritu is an exceptional PT! I came in with severe wrist pain that wouldn't go away for months, and in a matter weeks, Ritu's manual therapy and exercise program helped the pain go away. In a couple of months, I'm back to my normal activities. My experience with Pro Active Physical Therapy was consistently positive- the receptionist was kind and effective, the other therapists were friendly and engaging and my personal PT (Ritu) truly went above and beyond with her patients. Fantastic experience: Pro-Active Physical Therapy helped me tremendously. I was seen and taken care of by Physical Therapist (Ritu) who was very professional and was very receptive to my needs. Each time I would visit she would greet me warmly and ask me how my knee is doing. She would take the time to listen to the pains I would describe and would properly help to alleviate those pains before I left. She had me perform exercises at home that helped me further speed up my recovery. I came to Pro-Active Physical Therapy with a major limp due to pain in my knee and a few weeks later I am back to walking normally without the pain. Thank Ritu!

Fantastic experience: At the start of the year, I strangely triggered a herniated disc while laying and working in bed. Apparently it's one of the worst positions since it puts direct pressure against my L4/L5. Over the past 5-6 weeks, Nupur Oza helped piece me back together, as she always does. I went from barely able to walk while in excruciating pain to now having almost zero pain in my lower back. Over the past 12 years, she's healed me time and time again, fixing a torn rotator cuff (avoiding surgery), relieving a pinched sciatic nerve (I limped for 3 months!), rehabilitating a pulled calf muscle, to strengthening a broken ankle, and the usual poor posture/neck pain from working on a computer all day. The best part is that she encourages me to keep doing what I do to stay fit. I just wanted to give her a huge shout out and to let you know that if you need a PT, she's the only one I trust.
