Negative experience: New U has an insanely high turnover rate on their therapists. In the last year alone, I went through 4 different therapists from New U, as each therapist I had quit the company weeks (or in one case, days) into starting with a new therapist. The final straw was with this last one they paired me up with, she canceled appointments on me for 5 weeks in a row. After that, I decided that New U is just as shoddy as BetterHelp. Maybe if New U actually paid their therapists fairly, they wouldn't quit so fast.

Negative experience: THREE YEARS after I stopped services they contacted me telling me that I owed them nearly $1,000. They called my cell phone and told me that if I did not respond by the end of the day they would send me to collections. This was their first attempt to contact me in three years -- no emails, physical mail, or phone calls. After paying what they asked and getting a receipt, their invoice charged me for the appointments I "missed" when front office staff explicitly told me that they were pausing my therapy because of insurance issues. Unbelievable behavior for so many reasons! I used both their therapy and psychiatric services for around 6 months. My first therapist there was great, but left their after a couple months due to issues with the company. My second therapist was terrible and constantly asked me to reschedule my appointments. A month before I left, office staff informed me that my insurance company was no longer paying. They did not communicate with me about how long this would last. I had to pay out of pocket for expensive psychiatric appointments and medication. I was without therapy for months. When I left, my insurance was still not covering any services. Yet, they still contacted me three years later for "missed appointments" and blatant gaps in their own billing system. I urge anyone who wants to use their services to look at the number of 1 star reviews related to billing, insurance, and front office staff. This company clearly does not care about providing patients consistency and reasonable service.

Negative experience: I couldn't be more frustrated dealing with this business. Everyone who calls me barely speaks English and never know what is happening in any other area of the business, every call they act like I haven't already talked to someone many times already. I was told in April of 2024 (a year ago!) that we owed almost $900 due to insurance not paying for several visits. We had covered sessions with a psychiatrist and when a therapist was recommended in addition their office set up the appt for us; the call in April I was told the person who set it up accident picked the wrong insurance code and it turns out the person was out of network after my daughter had already seen the provider 7x. I didn't pick the provider or have the chance to verify network availability; their staff admitted it was their mistake. However, they continue to have people call wanting me to pay the balance, when I re-explain disputing the balance, I am told billing management will be consulted and someone will call me "tomorrow". That never happens and now I am being threatened to be sent to collections. This isn't the only issue I have had dealing with the staff at this facility, it's just the most recurrent. It's also not the only time they have billed incorrectly or without cause. They are not able to accept accountability for their office staff and what patients are told, they don't return calls, and when asked to get information in writing they don't respond. I don't want to call them and get the run around with more undocumented conversations; I want responses in writing as they keep changing the story. I see their common response on Google is to apologize and ask people to call in. DO BETTER!

Negative experience: Fraudulent billing and retaliatory behavior after I wrote a review about their incompetent and insensitive front office staff. The owner offered to speak with me but never actually talked to me. Unethical practices that are being reported. Please do not go here. There are a lot of better and safer options.

Negative experience: Absolutely garbage place other than one great psychiatrist. Dr. Clarito is amazing. Everything else about that place is trash. My mental health is worse than ever because of the receptionist. They illegally charge for things that should be billed to Insurance first. Don't come here. If you value your mental health, you'll stay away from this place. I'm in the process of switching providers after this. I'm about ready to call the hotline because of this place. Seriously, don't just walk, run away from here.

Negative experience: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! 1. Dont count on your therapists always being there, i had more than one that just left the practice without a word and found out later from the business themselves calling to set me up with someone new. The therapists are great, i think the business just ran awfully, and my current therapist from this place chose to leave to join a different practice. Says a lot about how the office runs things if they can not keep therapists working there long. 2. If you ever have an issue with insurance, like a lapse in coverage or any coverage issues, instead of calling to let you know, they wait until you have a $750 bill!!!! And they sure as hell expect you to pay it. I had to do a payment plan, and it took me more than a year to pay off the balance!!! Also, they will charge your copay so randomly that it feels like you're getting double charged at times. 3. After no longer using their services for over a year, and after i paid the large bill, they are still billing me. I just got another notice in the mail that they want me to pay them another $80 for services from 2023-2024!!!! Like wtf i already paid you guys for this stuff, and now you're just trying to get more money out of me??? Not to mention, the billing department is extremely difficult to get a hold of.... TLDR: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. If you end up finding a good therapist there, they will leave, and they will take any opportunity to nickle and dime you with bills even after you leave. UPDATE: They claimed to have attempted to contact me, and i didn't answer, FALSE. I didn't receive a call or email. I called them to settle it, and they said billing isn't available, and they would call back. This was a couple of days before i left my review.

Negative experience: . They told me they accepted my insurance and connected me with a psychiatrist who diagnosed me and prescribe me medication through the pharmacy. I paid for the medication WITH the insurance card. I’ve been actively taking the medication.However, two weeks later, they claimed my insurance had ‘changed’ and that I was now out of network. This is completely false—I have had the exact same insurance and the same card since I started. If they actually look at the file they will see an actual photograph of the same card Not only did they mislead me, but they also harassed me with phone calls all day, with different employees repeating the same thing. On top of that, they’ve left me on a medication that now has to be stopped abruptly, which is dangerous. They use any excuse to charge you. This is not a moral company.

Negative experience: I didn’t even get a chance to start working with them. I filled out the new patient forms like they asked and didn’t hear anything back for a month. I called and left a voicemail and no one contacted me and then I sent an email which was promptly replied to that I would receive a phone call but a few hrs later when I did get the phone Call the person on the line in a very monotone voice confirmed I had insurance (as if I didn’t know that) and then just said someone else will call to set up an appointment, have a good day and hung up the phone. I am not impressed with this. I just want to get help with my condition and this transition in a new area has not been easy for me so making someone wait for a whole month just for a lackluster phone call to wait for another phone call isn’t exactly what I was hoping for when I just need help. I do not plan to work with them as this first impression left a bad taste in my mouth.

Negative experience: I joined New U Therapy with high hopes, as I am going through a challenging personal situation and sought professional guidance to navigate a job transition. However, I’ve been extremely disappointed with how my circumstances have been handled. Despite joining the session late due to a natural disaster and financial struggles, I was still charged a $100 late fee, even though I still joined and had 40 mins left of the full hour session. This feels especially unfair given my current situation and the fact that I joined New U Therapy in good faith, hoping to receive the support I desperately need. I understand the importance of policies, but given the exceptional circumstances, I would have expected more understanding and flexibility from a company that claims to help people through tough times. I hope the company will reconsider how they handle situations like mine in the future, as it would make a significant difference for clients who are already going through a lot. ~ Jackson

Negative experience: This place will charge you any chance they can! They do not help you… I missed a appointment due to court even tho I contacted them ahead of time and they told me the 50$ they charged me will be credited to my next visit… then I had a emergency at work and missed my next visit so now they are charging me an extra 150$ this place doesn’t care about its patients at all and is super money hungry and the staff you speak to barley speak English on the phone so you can’t even understand them… there are far better places that won’t charge you an insane fee.

Negative experience: Spare yourself, honestly. The weirdest psychiatric office I’ve ever had to deal with. Monthly appointments just so they can charge you an additional $40-50 for your medication refill. They literally will not refill unless you do the monthly appointment. I saw my old psychiatrist once a year, and now I’m catching up with the new one every 3 weeks …. “Yep, the medication I’ve been on for four years still works!” Lol. it’s ridiculous. Also, the staff is incredibly rude. It feels like I’m talking to robots, and honestly, maybe I am? You really just don’t get any sort of human decency with the people on that work there.

The Nurse Practitioner I saw, put me on a cocktail that contributed to becoming suicidal. I will never see a nurse practitioner again and highly suggest you don't seek psychiatry with this company.

Negative experience: Bad reviews are truthful. Good luck trying to get a hold of someone for mediation authorization. It’s nearly impossible to get a hold of someone via telephone. They have an automated service system that will hangup on you to leave a voicemail in which the team won’t respond anyways. You’ll be stuck with calling the hotline for hours on end and when you finally get a hold of someone all they say is sorry for the technical difficulties. Avoid this place at all costs it has been the worst decision I’ve ever made for my mental health. And the companies responses to reviews are just as useless. Do better NewuTherapy.

We can help to find a therapist that might have an availability but also should be a good match but it really depends on those factors. Negative experience: Seriously do not go here. Listen to these reviews. Not only did the doctor here prescribe something for me that was actually not ok for me to be taking while pregnant, their office continually charged my account for charges I did not incur. They took over $300 from me with the card they kept on file. I went back and forth with them for so long and fought with them on it. They agreed they could see the error but I couldn't get them to stop charging me or to reverse the charges and ultimately had to get a new card to get them to stop. It's been years now since I've been to this office and they STILL call me to try to collect MORE money from me. Don't. Go. Here. Find somewhere else.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ABSULTELY HAVE TO. I have a great therapist and my husband and I are also in couples therapy and it's going great. The office however is a nightmare! I saw other reviews and thought oh it might just be those difficult customers complaining but I am telling you. It is AWFUL. There is no communication within the office system. Billing dodges your calls and never call you back. I was lucky enough to get a credit on my account but when my next appointment came, they charged me TWICE for the same appointment even though I have a credit. When u asked what we can do about this, the person I was speaking to said "if it's ok with you I can leave a note so they don't charge you again". No refund was offered. I had to request it EVENTHOUGH it was their mistake. even then they said they will have to get it approved I will be lucky if it doesn't take weeks to get a call back. Believe the reviews. I am very close to leaving this service

They seem to avoid human interaction and prefer to communicate through text messages, which is odd considering they specialize in mental health treatment. You’d think they’d want to reduce isolation and screen time. After a few days of back and forth through text messages, no luck getting anywhere with a live person over the phone, and multiple requests for online forms to be completed which asked for a lot of duplicate information, I finally gave up and just called my sons pediatrician for his prescription refill. I was able to schedule an appointment with a live person, no impersonal text messaging involved. I like to think I’m computer savvy and fairly patient, but the process made me feel neither.

Negative experience: Overall, I would not recommend this practice. My provider was great. However, communication with the office and support for issues is incredibly inconsistent. Also, appointment policies are strict. My biggest complaint and issue is that I was left without a refill. They say that it's easy to submit a request online but that is not true. I submitted a refill online and it took DAYS to get a response even though I submitted the request online and left voicemails. When I finally got a call back, they told me they were unable to refill my prescription because my doctor went out of town for a month and they wouldn't refill my prescription until I met with a different doctor even though I had JUST met with my doctor. This was incredibly frustrating specifically because I had missed an appointment due to a family emergency and they were QUICK to charge my card on file $150 but getting a call for my prescription? Nope. Painfully slow even thought I had been a patient with them for a while. Also, yes, you will sign paperwork that each missed appointment is $150 and they are very strict with this policy; even if there are emergencies. Considering that they are a psychiatrict practice that deals with mental health, it is baffling how little compassion, flexibility, and support clients are provided. Clearly many of us will struggle with tasks because of our depression, anxiety, PTSD. New U definitely runs of a strict business model and you are simply a policy to them. If you are seriously struggling with mental health issues and need more communication, flexibility, this is not the place for you.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Emiliano Baquir interviewed me when I applied for continued anti- depression ketamine therapy at New U Therapy Center | Psychiatry & Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. I'm a single mom who struggled with treatment resistant depression for 25 years. My first impression of Dr. Baquir was that he was calm, detailed-oriented, compassionate, and understanding. His knowledge and experience of psychiatry were remarkable at the same time, so I really gained hope in fighting this evil depression again. Negative experience: Update to my previous review: So after posting this review ONLY THEN did they finally decide to call me back. Only took an hour from me posting that review. Not when I tried to call and reached out via email. It’s when I left my review that I was treated as a priority. Fatima who’s been dealing with my refund apologized and told me she forgot to call me 3 days ago. She then told me my refund was approved and asked if I can remove my review. I asked her why and explained why I was frustrated. She then told me that the refunds have a long process. I then told her if she would just told me that from the BEGINNING I would have been more understanding. She proceeded to tell me that she gave me her extension and I never called her. I corrected her because I was constantly calling her extension within their business hours and she NEVER picked up. She told me I didn’t get any voicemails and I told her that her mailbox was FULL so I couldn’t leave one but it’s in the call logs the amount I called. She then told me again that this is a long process. Which I had already told her if she took time to care and tell me that from the beginning I wouldn’t have been so lost constantly trying to reach out to them. Throughout this phone call she keeps asking me to remove my review. I was crying a bit on the phone because I was so frustrated I was telling her I had bills to pay and that I don’t want to be put in this situation again. Hence why I’m leaving this provider and going somewhere else. She didn’t even acknowledge it and just kept asking me to remove my review. She then proceeds to tell me how they didn’t have to refund me because “technically” I have to cancel my appointment two days before. I had COVID with a fever of 102. This was an emergency not something I planned to do. She then ask me again to remove it and I just end the conversation and leave the call. So unprofessional

Negative experience: New you therapy only ever has one psychiatrist on staff and he is rude, entirely apathetic, and borderline reckless with his prescriptions. Never has a doctor made me so furious, and then responded with laughter when I was obviously upset by his refusal to give me basic information about the drugs he was trying to prescribe me. The receptionists know nothing about what goes on in their own office and do not communicate with other staff. I have called to cancel appointments through them and then been sent a bill from the therapist for .. “not canceling”.. three years ago I loved New You, now they are a daily headache.

Negative experience: The ketamine therapy definitely helped, but as far as any other services go, they are extremely unorganized and lack of communication, and left me stranded without refills! Negative experience: The rTMS therapy was like something out of Clockwork Orange. It was extremely traumatizing. The procedure got more painful with each session, I would experience facial spams and body convulsions. I feel like it rewired my brain, but not in a good way. Also Edit Alaverdian is a terrible therapist for many reasons. Save yourself a hospital visit and do not come to this place.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this place. I was looking for an available psychiatrist for my child. All psychiatrists have 2-3 month waiting list. This center has next week availability. It was fast and efficient. The psychiatrist, Dr Bhavsar is very compassionate, has very good bed side manners and listening skills. I have no problem with the center. They are great for the whole family too.

Negative experience: I sought this place out for therapy and they told me they had availability but they couldn’t schedule me until I filled out the intake form. The intake form was about 12 pages and it took me an hour to fill it out and upload everything. I never received a call, so I called about 4 times and finally was told today that they have no one available. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I will go elsewhere.

Negative experience: I will give 1 starts due to the fact that I got treatment done at this office and it was effective. The minus 4 stars come from the lack of professionalism that encompasses the practice. Unfortunately during my treatment, ketamine, I had to take time off of work to make sure I could get my treatments done in the order and time-frame in which the office determined was appropriate to get the affects that needed to be achieved. The first hiccup was when I went to the office to have my treatment done and was told after I was stuck with one needle that, that was the last needle they had so they could no longer do the treatment! (Knowing full well that I am a difficult patient to get an IV started on as all other treatments had taken about 4-5 times to get in successfully). I was very upset as I had to make accommodations with my work to miss time, with someone to pick up my son, and to have my son miss his activities as I was getting the treatment done and was not able to take him. Knowing how disappointed I was Inna agreed to give me one free Ketamine treatment, very thankful as they are valued at $650 a session. Anyways that is nice and dandy but as soon as I was done with my treatment, I was told I needed to come back every 1-2 months to get "touch ups" to make sure that the treatment would keep up and be working. I called to schedule my appointment for my follow up and 1. the front office gal could not even find me in the system at first (concerning since I had been there multiple times). 2. I asked to make an appointment for the ketamine for a Tuesday (which I was calling on a Monday), she offered me the next day, Tuesday, but seemed annoyed that I double checked the dates as when my appointment was scheduled since she didn't tell me a date or time she just said "you're on Tuesday at 4:30pm"...okay? perhaps some poor communication skills in the front. Anyways no later than 10 min after the appointment was set, I got another call stating that the machine is no longer working and they cant see me...nor do they know when the new machine will be in. Meanwhile I am experiencing my prior side affects that got me to try ketamine in the first place! When I express my concern that they do not have the proper materials to do the treatment I am met with oh well yeah, well you could get a shot in your stomach that may or may not work. I am not going to get a shot that is not guaranteed to work when I know the IV treatment is an option that works for me. The follow through on callbacks seems to be very poor as well, again not particularly helpful when dealing with people who are battling mental health issues. There is no real concern for peoples mental health, even though they are a mental health facility. Very sad to leave this review.

Fantastic experience: TMS (Transcranial magnetic stimulation) has changed my life! I have had debilitating depression and anxiety for over twenty years that has not been relieved by taking medications. I didn’t want to leave the house, shower, buy groceries, or interact with others. I thought that I had run out of options until I tried TMS. I finished the treatments five weeks ago and I am thrilled to say that TMS, in conjunction with psychotherapy, has changed my whole outlook on life. The thing that I notice most about myself after TMS, on top of the significant reduction in my depression and anxiety, is that I have the energy and desire to rejoin society. Now I willingly leave the house to be with others, take yoga classes, exercise at the gym and I’m even learning to play an instrument! It wasn’t easy, but I took a leap of faith in starting TMS. The staff at The New U Therapy Center are knowledgeable, friendly and accessible. Ronald, the TMS technician, is professional and very sensitive to the needs of his patients. Dr. Grayson and Jenny help make the TMS process both comprehensive and comfortable from start to finish. I also recommend Inna, a hypnotherapist, at New U, who helps me address some fears that I have around medical procedures, left over from childhood. Overall, The New U Therapy Center is a place that you can find knowledgeable and supportive clinicians and a variety of mental health modalities, all under one roof.

I appreciate your time and efforts to resolve it. I changed my rating to 5 stars because I received my refund. Thank you Inna. Do not go here! I am so disappointed and appalled at the way they resolve client issues. They are in the business for themselves and not for your well being. I am appalled that their business practice is to benefit the doctor versus the patient. As a patient, I seek help from my doctor and I trust that they are in this profession to help but with the way they handled my case, it clearly shows how unprofessional they are and there is no understanding for their patients. I went there for 2 appointments. The first appointment went fine. The 2nd appointment, I was unable to go because I had a neck spasm and was unable to do anything. I was bedridden. I had my baby with me and was unable to carry him or do anything. I couldn't drive a car, much less carry around a baby in a car seat- moving him in and out of the car. I notified the office and they said they would charge me the late cancel fee. I told them what was going on and they still said that. I can't believe that they still charged me. I was literally unable to move. I followed up after that and they said they need to pay the doctors time and that I declined the teletherapy option, which was a lie! I was never offered that option. The late fee was $200. That is an astronomical amount. Any other doctors that I see now, I ask them if this situation were to happen, would they charge me the late cancel fee and they say, no. So check before you go. I trusted them and they used their 1 sided policy agreement to move forward and charge me.

We do have a late cancellation policy that we inform all patients about in our intake forms, over the phone, and via each appointments email notifications as well, so all patients know that they have to cancel the appointment before 24 business hours to avoid the fee in advance. Our psychiatrists do not schedule double sessions with multiple patients at the same time like many other doctors do. We are for the quality of the service. The psychiatrist spends much more time with each patient than any psychiatrist does, and if a patient books the psychiatrist's time, the patient is responsible for either keeping the appointment or notifying the center as early as possible since the psychiatrists wait for the scheduled patient. There are no other patients to replace with for the scheduled time slot. The psychiatrists are very busy and usually, it's hard to find an easy and fast availability with psychiatrists. So, their time is very valuable. Any other patients could use this time for their medical needs. Also, to be fair, we always offer to all patients a tele session with the doctor if the patient cannot attend the session to avoid the cancellation fee. If you deny the offer, you are still responsible for the appointment fee. Any doctor's offices charge for late cancellations or no shows, and it's a standard procedure in all medical offices. If you would like to resolve this situation, feel free to call our office and ask for Inna Lee, and we'll see what we can do for you in your situation so you can continue to have your services in the center, and, if you have financial difficulty, we are able to help you as well.
