Santa Rosa Orthopaedics: Reviews
Positive experience: Everyone is so nice and Dr. Axelrod is kind and transparent. Thanks Santa Rosa Orthopaedics!
Negative experience: i have called them 10 times over the month just to set an appointment up and no one has answered once or help me in any way my wrist is hurting so bad idek what to do at this point
Negative experience: I've been trying to get ahold of scheduling lady she never picks up and never calls you back after leaving several messages
Negative experience: This is my worst experience with any medical facility. I got a call telling me my appointment needed to be changed due Dr. Gonzales would not be in the office that day, then was told he could see me a hour later the same day. After filling out first time patient information x-rays were taken of my hip and I was placed in an examination room for more than 45 minutes, no one ever showed up. Finally I asked what was the delay and if the doctor was even in the office that day. She tried to find him and couldn't, said he may be in another building. An hour later the Dr. called and appologized for the scheduling error. I requested a copy of the x-rays they took. He said he would email them to me. Redwood Orthodaedic Surgery associates took x-rays having never looked or talked to me. It's been over a month now, after leaving many messages requesting my x-rays I still have not had any of my calls returned. I'm planning to file complaints with the BBB and Bureau of Consumers Affairs. I feel lucky to learn how incompetent they are before being cut on.
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience, and we understand your frustration. However, Dr. Daniel Gonzalez is not affiliated with Santa Rosa Orthopaedics (SRO). He practices with Redwood Orthopaedic Surgery Associates (ROSA), a separate medical group. We kindly ask that you remove this review from our page and share your feedback directly with ROSA at www.redwoodorthopaedic.com, so they can address your concerns appropriately. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you’re able to get the support you need. —SRO
Fantastic experience: AMAZING TECHNOLOGY NOW DAYS WITH AMAZING DOCTORS...I HAD TWO CRUSHED DISC'S IN MY LOWER BACK...HE WENT THRU MY STOMACH & CLEANED UP THE DISC / SCREWED IN THE SPACER.../ THEN HE WENT THRU MY BACK AND ATTACHED THE FUSION VERTEBRAE TOGETHER...TRIVIA: IT HAS BEEN A LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY...HALF WAY THERE...MORE TRIVIA: I WORKED SINCE 2012 WITH THIS INJURY & MORE...EXTRA TRIVIA: 500 LBS. TO 600 LBS. FELL ON.ME / KNOCKED ME ON MY POSTERIOR...
Negative experience: PSA PSA: CHECK YELP REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BOOK HERE!!!!!! This was the only place that could get me in with my timeframe for my fractured humerus after I was seen at an ER out of state. The radiologist staff here are AWESOME. Nurses were so helpful and had incredible bedside manner. The front desk people are almost rude. You're dealing with injured people, the least you could do is be nice to them? The actual doctor (Snyder) left much to be desired. He helped me clarify some things about my situation, but became very short with me towards the end of our time and seemed like he didn't want to help me get my X-rays on a disc (super important because I need to go to another provider closer to home), didn't want to give me a sling and it seemed like I had to argue with him to get what I wanted to be comfortable for the long drive I had home. At a certain point he's like "well I don't know where anyone is so you'll just have to hang out back here until everyone who can do all these things for you gets back from lunch". I guess giving me a sling is below doctor duties. But if everyone else is in lunch you can't just get it for me? So rude Weird interaction. This guy acted like I didn't have an appointment set up for a week and a half that I waited for. Don't go to doctors who don't respect your time and don't respect you coming on time for your appt. I certainly wouldn't get operated on with providers here after that interaction. Who knows, they might leave you half fixed because their lunch is getting cold lmao. I'm a firefighter and have done a 32 hour shift without a lunch. Take notes.
Negative experience: Dr. Stein did a total knee replacement on me. After complaining for 2 years of it still hurting swelling and not functioning correctly he told me, it was on me. Went through physical therapy.. It's been 3 years & still hurts.. Now 4 years, still loss of movement swelling in knee severly & it locks up at night & is painfully at times! Still doing knee exercises, not working!
Fantastic experience: Just a great staff and doctors
Fantastic experience: Via PT with Todd, Roberto and others I have regained strength and mobility recovering from a multi bone breaking accident. I have also regained a more upright and comfortable posture using the excercises Todd recommended. I'm 2 months short of 80 and did not expect the progress working with Todd brought about.
Fantastic experience: THenderson Law recently setteled a peronal injury lawsuit for me. I hesitatied to go to an attorney because I only broke my arm and badly injured my shoulder. Michael and his staff were very helpful when the insurance company for the shopping center just wanted me to go away. The award exceeded what I expected for my pain and suffering from the fall. No case is too small for Henderson Law to consider. Thank you Michael and your wonderful Staff
Negative experience: Horrible place to be seen reception rude every time you call. They tell you what you should be doing or how you’re supposed to be feeling even though they not your dr/surgeon. Leave the advice telling to the surgeon/dr! Any other place would be better I’m sure of it just based on the last call I wouldn’t go back again no matter what! Don’t waste your time with the bs! Find another orthopedics office.
Fantastic experience: So happy to be one of your petitions because doctors are loving and caring and very good listener to the patients all love and prayers and respect to all doctors and there teams ❤️❤️
Fantastic experience: Comfortable; receptive to all my questions- they make themselves available for text messages and respond to my inquiries.
Negative experience: I went there to have my knee looked at; I had a torn meniscus. They did whatever they did and then I paid my bill. I was very clear with the front desk, about whether my bill was paid in full or not. They assured me that it was, and no other bills would be coming. Well sure enough they sent another bill in the mail. Of course I refused to pay, like any normal person would. They sent it to collections and now I am dealing with that years later. I would not recommend these people they are either shady or incompetent. Either way, bad.
Fantastic experience: Muy agradecido con todos
Negative experience: My experience with the scheduling staff of this doctor’s office was terrible. The main scheduler was rude and short. I wouldn’t have my family seen here
Negative experience: Doctor refuses to take one minute to listen, incredibly rude and in a hurry. They try to reschedule constantly, always overbooked. No follow through in mri orders and now they won't answer the phone or return messages. These people only care about billing insurance. If you actually want medical help, go anywhere else.
Negative experience: Wait is always heinously long, office itself is decorated poorly-makes me feel like I’m waiting for a funeral, the doctors barely communicate what they’re about to do with my body, the doctor was very rushed and careless when placing needles very close to my spine- something you’d hope would only be done with delicate care. Overall poor organization and management too.
Fantastic experience: Felt a trusted and respected patient right away. It was wonderful! My broken wrist was treated so gently and so professionally!
Negative experience: The worst. Poorly managed office, wastes everyone’s time. Average wait for your scheduled appointment - 1 hour.
Fantastic experience: The office is slightly disorganized, this is direct towards the treating doctor. For if it was not for Dr Christian Athanassious, M.D. I probably would not be alive today. Due to pain I was suicidal, and by 2pm no one wanted to be around me. I got hurt on the job back in 2012 in which I developed debilitating pain in which I was a function disabled person. Meaning that if you looked at me I looked normal, but my legs would give out. In 2021 I met with Dr Christian Athanassious and within 10 minutes of looking at fresh x-rays, taken on site, older MRIs x-rays he found out that my injury from 2013 needed surgery. Surgery was done the next month. I woke up without a migraine first time in nine years. My back didn't feel like a truck hit me, and I had neck surgery. I had two buldged disk in my neck. Which my spinal colum was pinched causing pain down my legs. Three was pain but way different from before. The neck brave is a cadillac compared to others. And I've been in a few. My pain was crippling, now I am able to do a full time job again. Thank you for the release of pain and returning some normal daily living back into my life.
Fantastic experience: We have been coming to Santa Rosa Orthopaedics since 2005. The staff is always friendly, helpful and takes care of their patients. Dr's are wonderful, caring and on spot for our diagnosis and health issues. They are all also great surgeons which is very comforting. The feeling knowing that we are taken care of before, during and through the recovery process of surgery is a relief for us as we get older. Dr. Degenhardt is my favorite of all times, aloha!
Fantastic experience: good place
Fantastic experience: The physical therapists new their stuff and were creative in successfully employing therapy techniques that were very helpful in my recovery and continued management of my issue.
Fantastic experience: Nothing, but a positive experience! Katie and other admin staff were very helpful scheduling all my PT appts in advance so I can plan around my work schedule and meetings. I've been working with Dr. Hayden Block and Dr. Devin Keller building strength and balance after a Brostrom repair. Making great progress and feeling stronger than I've felt in a long time after dealing with chronic ankle instability for several years. Feels amazing to regain confidence in my ankle and not worry about it giving way. Great team all the way around including the very knowledgeable Dr. Schakel who performed the surgery. Thank you for the outstanding care!
Fantastic experience: Great doctor
Fantastic experience: Dr Axalrod has been great guiding me through a fractured patella. I appreciate his clarity and responsiveness.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr McDermott and the Awesome Physical Therapy Department at Santa Rosa Orthopedics 10 Star Rating
Fantastic experience: The whole team were compassionate and worked to help me in areas that needed strengthening. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic experience: I had such a good experience that I was sad when my visits ended.
Negative experience: Dr. Athanasius is amazing. I no longer have pain after my back surgery. My complaint is that no one ever returns my calls. I have left messages with assistants, administrators, office personnel. I have even emailed to no avail. My employer needs info that we have been trying to obtain for over 3 weeks and nothing, and now my pays is being docked.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this PT facility. Sarah is by far the best physical therapist I have had. She is a very caring and supportive therapist. She listened to every little ache and pain I had and was on point with my care. Thank you Sarah!
Fantastic experience: Great experience. Knowledgeable, kind and confident. Very concerned about patient comfort.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Stain and his team are just fabulous. Dr. stain did full knee replacement for my mom on both knees within 6 months. We can not be happier. Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: Santa Rosa Orthopedics Therapy unit has an exceptional crew of therapists that will dedicate their professional experience to helping clients reach their goal!
Fantastic experience: I have had excellent hand therapy with Sarah, Kyle and Bruce! I have had zero trouble with call backs, scheduling etc. They all have gone above and beyond to help me heal quickly and easily. The exercises they are having me do are so helpful and they do many comfort measures too. I’ll miss seeing them when I’m done!
Negative experience: Dr. Athanasscious: ☆☆☆☆☆ Office Staff: 0 (Zero) stars The office is the absolute WORST I have ever encountered. They do not respond to messages; I tried voice messages, text messages and via email. I received ZERO response after five days. No one I spoke with showed any concern about my post-op problems. Also, the wait time for office visits are consistently 1+ hours no matter how early I arrived. The scheduler was also unhelpful, did not respond VM's, and quite rude to top it off. She made it clear that having to speak with me was an imposition rather than part of her job. To reiterate, Dr. Athanasscious was great, communicating with him a pleasure. His demeanor with me was consistently kind and compassionate. He demonstrated a genuine concern and empathy for me, as well as my specific situation. His explanations and answers to my questions were clear, thorough and comprehensive. He patiently made sure I actually grasped the pre-op formation he was imparting. This was obviously a priority for him, and quite reassuring for me as his patient.
Fantastic experience: It’s the best!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! Everyone is kind and professional and helped me get back to living my life, pain free, after months of pain and inability to use my right wrist/hand. Anna is the best!
Fantastic experience: Sarah (my Therapist) was the most authentically concerned, caring, and thoughtful person I've met to date. Her direction of exercise was to return my full range of motion with the utmost concern of avoiding pain. She provided tools to reduce swelling and other tools that would assist in the breakdown of scar tissue. I very much appreciate her style, professionalism, direction, and suggestions provided during my sessions. I now have full range of motion and strength returned to my left hand, and wrist. Thank You Sarah!!!
Negative experience: WAited like 2 months for an appointment. Saw Dr Apernacious. Tole me I needed xrays and he would set me up with their physio. That was March 7th. Now its April 7th. Nothing...crickets. NO Xrays No physio, I s'pose they dont care that I'm in a lot of pain. Let fdown by the medical system yet again. Dont waste your time with these people
Negative experience: Office closed
Negative experience: Run the other way from this facility. Unprofessional. They won’t answer the phone. They won’t call back. They say they’ll call you back with in 1 business day. That’s a lie. You’ll wait weeks before you get a call. And if you have the nerve to be frustrated of the incompetence of the staff. They get mad at you. They will lose a MRI report. Won’t say anything. Depend on the patient to send another copy while they are the ones that lost it. Then when you send it to them. They don’t check their emails the next day to see if they got it. They go on vacation and leave someone in charge. And the person left in charge won’t even call you back for the whole time they are covering the persons job. You will have an appointment scheduled and if an emergency pops up And you try to reschedule that appointment the same day you missed it and are told their are available appointments the next day, but they never call you back. Then when the surgery date comes up and you finally speak to someone you are obviously quite upset that you called every day they were open. And no one ever called back so your surgery is pushed back. So you get mad because they could not do their job and guess what happens. They drop you as a patient for being upset at their incompetence or inability to do something as simple as scheduling an appointment. If you want to deal with a competent staff. Don’t come here. They can’t and won’t call you back. And if your in pain and are frustrated they will drop you as a patient.
Negative experience: Tried calling 3 days in a row different times they don't answer and until one person answered to ask simple question about a treatment she didn't know the answer so how would I get a treatment if you don't answer phone calls?
Fantastic experience: I had an ACDF performed by Dr.Athanassious. He and his staff are fantastic They took care of me and made me feel safe in their hands. They were attendant to my needs and the hospital staff at Satta Rosa Memorial Hospital are second to none. They all took very good care of me.
Fantastic experience: Needed physical therapy because of broken back and walking normal with balance !
Fantastic experience: Ben was my PT professional during 2 different sessions separated by about 1 year between the two sessions. He was great as were the support staff.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff that are efficient. Definitely would recommend them
Fantastic experience: I'm very happy for the care and results i recieved at this facility. Everyone here is very caring and proffesional. Thank you so much! .
Fantastic experience: Professional, caring, knowledgeable. Would like to thank Dr Athanassious for fixing my low back. Thank you to all of his staff for doing a great job helping me to get to this pain free, moving free place. Jonna Lemmon
Fantastic experience: Dr. Hayden has been awesome through the PT process. He's very knowledgeable about the body and how it works. He's able to use this knowledge to help you get better!
Fantastic experience: Great staff very helpful in making recovery possible.
Fantastic experience: Very professional, yet warm & caring. Candace is fabulous! Felt very well taken care of.
Fantastic experience: They were very good made me feel comfortable very polite and asked if I needed anything many times.
Fantastic experience: Best physical therapy ever!!!
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience from front desk to billing, surgeon and surgeon's assistant and follow-up physical therapy.
Fantastic experience: Dr Mazur is the best!
Negative experience: Maria with scheduling is a nightmare to work with. Extremely rude and uncaring. I sat around with a broken foot for over a week waiting for an appointment only to be told by Maria that my insurance would not be accepted. It would have been great if she could have told me that the first day I called her not be drag along for a week to only be turned away.
Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience. Check in was a breeze, the reception staff Is not only very friendly but also incredibly organized and efficient. I was seen by my care provider within minutes of my arrival.
Fantastic experience: Dr, Axelrad is knowledgeable, intuitive and truly a gifted as one of the best doctors I’ve ever encountered. I drive over 65 Miles to come here and haven’t felt this good in years.
Fantastic experience: When I first saw Dr athanasius I was so painful.after the surgery I felt so much better and the pain in the back of my legs was gone. He did a back fusion for me. I actually felt so much better that I got myself in trouble a couple of times doing more than I was ready for at the time.his staff took great care of me and I highly recommend Dr athanassious.
Fantastic experience: The Mark West Springs staff identified the reason for my knee pain and began training my body to correct the issue. Within two sessions progress was made and the positive energy from the trainers and the support from printed exercises and careful monitoring gave me lots of trust and encouragement. The 8 weeks of care --plus exercises at home--corrected the issue, and at 72 my confidence is restored and I am back out on the mountain, hiking, running and feeling strong and able. THANK YOU!!!
Negative experience: Extremely rude staff! My referral was faxed twice since Nov and nothing! I wish I was referred to a better Ortho office.
Fantastic experience: The facility is top notch. And Candyce is amazing. Would definitely recommend her. She’s professional, very knowledgeable, firm yet still compassionate. My recovery wouldn’t be as successful without her.
Fantastic experience: Doctors are nice and serve you're needs quickly.I have 2 doctors that have operated on my arms and legs.
Fantastic experience: The staff is excellent! Dr. Mazur is the absolute best physican/surgeon I’ve ever been to. He’s very present and takes his time answering questions and explaining procedures, and that’s just his personality and professionalism!! Imagine his surgery skills!! Their “in-house” physical therapy is just what you will need to get your body part(s) (now surgically repaired) back into shape! There are a multitude of knowledgeable and experienced physial therapists as SRO to ensure you’ll get back to your pre-injury activities of daily living in no time!!
Fantastic experience: Everyone was amazing !! very professional & friendly !!
Fantastic experience: Great care and staff. Just had surgery on my neck and was extremely prepared for the process and the staff was always available for questions.
Fantastic experience: I have gone to Santa Rosa Orthopedics since 2006. In that time, Pat Hall has always been my therapist. I cannot say enough good things about Pat and her staff. Pat will be truly missed when she retires. The staff is very kind and considerate with all of their patient.
Negative experience: I saw Dr. Axelrad first. I was given a cortisone shot and a referral for an MRI and felt like I was shown the door. After my MRI I had to track him down to get the results, by the time I got him on the phone he was very curt and stated I needed to see the shoulder specialist. I made an appointment with Dr. Pourtaheri. It seemed as though he couldn't get me out of the office fast enough, maybe it was because it was towards the end of the day. All answers to questions were very short, I was told to start physical therapy. When I checked on the status of my referral I was told it was never submitted. I have had no positive experience working with this group of doctors and will be asking my PCP if there is any other ortho docs under my heath care coverage.
Negative experience: Impossible to get a hold of anyone, took them 2 weeks to process a referral and during the appointment was told “get an MRI to see if you need surgery” didn’t say why I could possibly need surgery and then left the room for 40 min. I finally grabbed a nurse who had to check with the doctor to see what was going on. Nurse ended up telling me I could leave and my regular doctor would call me. But it has been 10 days since the appointment and the doctor still has not even charted.... can’t set an MRI without the referral can’t go back to work without a release can’t do anything because these lazy incompetent people. This was the icing on the cake of the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. Disgusting and dehumanizing.
Positive experience: Understand it's orthopedic so it hurts.
Negative experience: A very upsetting and disappointing experience. Not senior friendly. Not going back there. Ever.
Fantastic experience: The only place to go.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding medical care
Fantastic experience: Dr. Stein, who I first met at Santa Rosa Orthopedics, saved me from a total knee replacement, so he is my hero! He was a second opinion and agreed that an MRI would be beneficial. After seeing the MRI results he said arthroscopic surgery to repair torn miniscus and clean up some rough stuff would be the way to go (my paraphrase of his plan). I had surgery less than 24 hours ago and already I'm feeling FANTASTIC and so grateful. The Santa Rosa Surgery Center was amazing... what a great team! From start to finish I truly feel that Dr. Stein really listened to me and that he actually cares about getting the BEST outcome for his patients!
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice review.
Fantastic experience: Doctors and medical staff have been super excellent, but their administration is somewhat lacking. I blame it on the fact there are nine doctors in the same practice I'm sure it gets hectic why I'm still giving 5 stars
Fantastic experience: Amazing office staff and amazing doctors. The perfect place for all your orthopedic needs.
Negative experience: How is it possible that systems can go down and it takes over a week to get them back up? Drove 40 minutes to a scheduled appointment, only to be told my appointment had to be cancelled, I didn't receive a call a voicemail, nothing. It's crazy to me that a place with three locations, especially one located in a place as big as Sutter can't seem to figure out how to get systems fixed and up and running, whoever is in charge of running whatever system is down should be fired.
Negative experience: Dealing with this office has been an absolute joke. Ask for an extension and get connected with a different extension. Leave messages and don't get a call back... Doctor was the rudest individual I have ever met. I would recommend this office being your last resort of orthopedic care.
Negative experience: Reminds me of Kaiser. Receptionist and office very poor quality help. The receptionist decided to refer my er emergency to two weeks appt. I mean what the heck. I came because the doctor was highly recommended. After going back to my regular doctor who referred me they helped get through to the right person to get me in past the front desk. What a nightmarish place.
Negative experience: Great docs but really unhelpful and unprofessional office staff.
Fantastic experience: If you have Orthopaedic issues, SRO is a great place to start. I'm a woman in my 60's whose career was a pianist & teacher. Having severe Dupretrans Contractures in both hands, my mobility became limited. Dr. Kai-Uwe Mazur with his skills, knowledge, & wonderful bedside manner cut, stitched, & fixed my hands to function once again. 5 months ago, he straightened 2 fingers in a long & laborious surgery. When they were fairly well healed, he straightened 2 more. Sure, I have had some pain with 100+ stitches in my small hand each time but following directions & doing the prescribed therapy I can play the piano again & function in daily tasks. Thank you, Dr. Mazur & Jennifer LaFever, NP & surgical assistant, reception, therapists, business, & all personnel associated with Santa Rosa Orthopaedic & Medical Group & Sutter Coast Hospital. You are the most caring, efficient, & friendly professionals I could ask for. Did I mention we drive 4 hours to my appointments! I have made the trip 15+ times through the years & have always had a positive experience. Thank you for giving me the use of my hands again.
Positive experience: Great surgeons
