Prairie Rehabilitation - Central Sioux Falls

Fantastic experience: Lori Johnson was my therapist at Praire Rehab. I had significant sciatic nerve pain from my left hip into my left thigh Even standing for 15 seconds was challenging, walking was also very limited, could be in the 9 pain range. After several therapy sessions with Lori I can now stand for at least an hour, or more, can walk further than before, and I'm enjoying a lot of pain free time. Early on in my pain journey I spent time with a therapist at one of the hospital rehab centers. The therapist was very nice but wasn't as good as Lori in focusing every session on my pain and therapy related to improvement; so I didn't improve. With Lori my pain reduction has been remarkable,I give her all the credit, and she is very nice and easy to work with. I highly recommend Lori to everyone!

Fantastic experience: You never wake up in the morning and say, "I think I want to be 'tortured' today." But that's how I feel on days when I have an appointment. I look forward to them because I know I will feel better afterwards. From the moment I walk through the door until the moment I leave, I am treated with compassion, care, and respect by every staff member. Braden and Jason are extremely professional. They listen to my feedback and adjust their treatment accordingly. They genuinely want to help me feel better and will take the necessary steps to make that happen. I also enjoy the conversations I have with the entire staff. That personal relationship is so valuable.

Fantastic experience: Had issues with my shoulder and they worked with me; showing me exercises for me to do at work and home to elevate the pain, and doing muscle scraping to loosen up tight muscles. I have been here in the past for different issues and they have always been great to work with.

From the moment I was greeted as I walked in the door and until I left I was listened to and treated for my problems. I experienced team work in my treatment. Various exercises and treatments were experienced and I have had great outcome...this team demonstrates it wants me to continue living my active life-style. And every time I came in I felt better and knew I was getting better. The staff are amazing and are always willing to have a good time and joke around while still staying in track in belong their patients!

Also provide education and exercises to implement in your daily routine to gain strength and to stay healthy in the future.

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Dr. Riley Price who is helping with neck, jaw, and balance excercises. I am feeling much better! The jaw is no longer stiff. My neck is more relaxed. I have more confidence when I walk and move that my balance is better. I have already recommended this clinic to two of my friends.

Fantastic experience: Was treated before and after knee replacement surgery. Friendly, positive staff at the front desk! Worked with two of the Physical Therapists and appreciated their positive attitude, detailed instructions on exercises and the benefits of doing them, and the genuine concern for my recovery. Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Michelle Sunde many years. I have had multiple problems with my back, hip, balance and foot. Michelle has addressed each of my health issues with through research and experimentation. Her wealth of knowledge and great attitude keeps me coming back!

Fantastic experience: I came into Prairie Rehab for an old injury to my left shoulder. Turns out, I had a lot of scar tissue that needed to be resolved. The team at Prairie got going with the right treatments to breakdown the scar tissue and exercises to get the muscles going again. When we started the therapy sessions l, I wasn’t even sure that I would be able to work out in a gym again. Now I’m back in the gym and feeling great! If you have an issue with your shoulder the team at Prairie Rehab will get you going in no time. They know just what to do, to make the pain go away and get you fully functional. Thanks for your help guys, the quality of life I have now, is great!

Negative experience: My PTs and the receptionists were great but the main office is awful, and unfortunately, it’s the main office that bills me, which makes it reflect on this office. I called to correct the claim, as I was double billed, the woman I spoke to had an attitude and also exactly stated about my PT, “that’s just because she doesn’t know how insurance works.” My second interaction with the main office was when they couldn’t deliver my bill and the lady had an even bigger attitude when I told it was my legal address, as it seemed she didn’t believe USPS could ever possibly mess up. Edit: I won’t call, I’ve tried that several times before putting up a review, you guys didn’t care then, just when it’s affecting your public image. Really shows everyone a lot.

Fantastic experience: Tim did a fabulous job working with me to recover from my shoulder injury. He was effective, and knew just how fast to push me so that my recovery progressed, without causing further discomfort or injury. This resulted in a speedy recovery. The staff was always eager to work with me and my crazy schedule. Cannot recommend them more, these folks genuinely care about the people they serve.

Fantastic experience: Excellent and professional yet warm, effective, thoughtful, and truly caring — This is how I found my experiences at Prairie Rehabilitation. Since my retirement from medical practice in Sioux Falls, I have lost my professional knowledge of physicians in other specialties, so on recommendation of a friend, called Jeff Steinberger to ask, from his experience, which surgeons’ patients seemed to do well after total knee replacement. Happily the surgeon I was seeing at the time was on the list. Jeff proceeded to instruct me in ways to best prepare for such surgery. He prepared me, for a month before my first surgery, with exercises, etc., then provided my post operative therapy. My progress was so good I went ahead with my second total knee two months after the first, under his care. After a full recovery of knees, and a few years later, I needed physical therapy for shoulder issues, and given my experience with the wonderful staff at Prairie Rehabilitation on Cliff at 26th St. is where I returned. The outstanding care continues!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Prairie Rehab, if I could give them 10 stars I would. If you need any physical therapy (PT) this is without a doubt the best place to go. I have seen Lori Johnson on and off over the years for a variety of PT and she is amazing. You have to put in the work but Lori builds the plan and if you follow it you will see results. From the front desk (Carrie is the best, always makes me smile and laugh) to the PT programs, top class. Lori very, very highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I was a customer of Prairie rehab after I broke my tibia in my leg and the surgery that followed, the program was awesome and Dr Jones helped answer my questions on how to complete the proper course of care and I think this helped tremendously with the timely recovery

They work to fit my appointments around my schedule. The location is convenient with parking right by the door. I highly recommend them and will return if I need PT, OT, or Speech in the future.

I have come here for my left knee 3 times, right wrist once and I am currently coming here for my right knee. The only reason I can walk right now is because of the the staff at Prarie Rehab. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, an have an excellent sense of humor.

He tried several different modalities and found the ones that worked best for me. He also educated me so much about how and why the exercises and treatments work. Fantastic experience: The Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants at Prairie Rehabilitation are the best in the business. Their educated staff has extensive knowledge and experience in physical, speech, occupational and hand therapy. They stay up-to-date with all the latest news and techniques to better improve their ability to match every patients needs. The staff always took the time to listen to any new information I had about my injury and applied new techniques to my plan for recovery. At Prairie Rehabilitation they truly care about each patient and giving them the best care possible. It is my opionion that Prairie Rehabilitation is the best physical therapy company in the tri-state region.

Fantastic experience: I broke my shoulder with a fall on ice last winter. I was totally unable to use by left arm. I knew about Prairie Rehab because my wife has received excellent help from them. I went to them for help, and they were able to help me restore the use of my arm through a number of different therapies and over about a two-month period. The therapists were well trained and very pleasant to work with. I actually enjoyed the sessions, enjoyed the people, and gained greatly in strength and usage of my arm. I have no hesitation in recommending Prairie Rehab and their great staff.

Fantastic experience: Currently toward the end of therapy after a total knee replacement with a complication that required a manipulation and additional therapy. Micah and Al are open and honest about expectations of me and the options they used to aid in my recovery. It takes a village. I was also assisted by Jason and Allie, Michelle, and Kim as well as the PT students. Scheduling was accommodated by Carrie and Madison. Highly recommend this location for all your therapy needs.

Fantastic experience: I came to this facility for Physical Therapy following surgery for Lumber Stenosis. I have seen some amazing results from where I was pre-surgery. The staff was great and they showed me exercises that were easy to do at home.

Positive experience: Changed my rating as of April 2023 Previous I utilized the services of Prairie Rehab in Sioux Falls (on Cliff near 26th) for orthopedic issues. I have a long and complicated medical history. Kristina Goldstine was my Physical Therapist back them. She was helpful. So when I needed additional physical rehab, I tried Prairie Rehab again in April 2023. I was very disappointed by the experience. I did not see Kristina this time, but saw Michelle a few times, and she was adequate. I saw Al once, and that was a very bad experience for me. In my option, Al did not listen carefully to me or my complex medical and orthopedic history. The way he worked with me aggravated my significant arthtritis, even though I had warned him that that was a possibility, and had asked him to stop at some points. I felt like my concerns were ignored, and I physically suffered because of that. I was very disappointed, and will not see Al again. I doubt I will use Prairie Rehab again.

Fantastic experience: Went to Prairie Rehabilitation for low back pain due a fall on my buttock. Micah and Taylor did a wonderful job to fix my issues and made my back feel better than ever. Would definitely recommend Prairie Rehabilitation for all.

Fantastic experience: Eight months ago I fully fractured the bottom of my left tibia severely damaging cartilage, ligaments and tendons in the area and seriously sprained my right ankle. I could hardly stand to bear weight or wear a shoe. Walking and stairs were really difficult and any form of my normal active lifestyle/workouts was not possible. I have never had an injury before but our kids had seen Al Holm at Prairie Rehab Central office with sports injuries and I knew he was excellent. Still I was worried this injury would potentially limit me for the rest of my life. Today I am fully restored and have returned to all my regular activities including cardio/strength training, yoga, biking and long walks plus all the function required for normal day to day. Al was incredibly patient, thoughtful, creative and always encouraging. He continuously modified my rehab both in clinic and with at home instructions as I progressed to ensure I continued to move forward in my recovery. His ability and years of experience that enable him to diagnose injury with touch and hone in on the exact problem are extraordinary. Plus he is just really a overall nice and upbeat guy! I am so grateful someone like Al is available to help people get their lives back! I hope he isn’t one of a kind but I’m afraid he might be! For sure, no PT is more skilled and effective than he is!! If you are injured (pun intended!) run don’t walk to Al at Prairie Rehab Central Office! He is backed up by Jason who is also great and supported by Carrie in the front office who is wonderful and works really hard to keep your appointments and schedule on track. Good luck! Fantastic experience: Kristina is by far the best Physical therapist I’ve ever had! Not only did she help get me back to functionally normal, but gave me the tools to maintain. If you’re looking to not only recover, but recover with a friendly face, this is the place for you. Every single staff member will greet you with a smile !

Fantastic experience: Prairie Rehab is a wonderful therapy facility! The staff has been amazing to work with (SO much better than other [hospital-based therapy I won't name] experience!!) From the 1st visit where Tim explained way more about my injury/MRI than the Dr, to the receptionists taking the time to get to know patients (again, so unlike my hospital therapy course a few years ago), it has been just such a great experience here! Learning to trust the process my body needs to go through to heal, the part I need to play in the process, and having trusted professionals like Tim and the rest of the team there helping is so encouraging. We had a wonderful experience at the West 26th St location as well when my son needed therapy. Highly recommend Prairie Rehab!!

Fantastic experience: Life just happens, and, for me, mine has come to greatly appreciate and benefit from the care, concern and outstanding capabilities of staff members at Prairie Rehabilitation. Starting out in my career, on an icy South Dakota morning, my car was rear-ended. Within hours, the pain of a whiplash set in. Later diagnosed by a renown area physician as one of the worst he had ever seen that had not resulted in a broken neck, I found myself under the care of Jeff Steinberger at Prairie Rehab. "No pain, no gain," became his watch work. I acquired a Total Gym to continue the workouts, and as he said, in about a year the pain began to subside. Thereafter, thru reinjury, work-related injury and life related issues, various staff at Prairie Rehab have been essential in guiding me to a better place in life. They are thorough, thoughtful and a great team as they endeavor to assist and train their clients to a better place than when they came to them. I personally, am so very grateful and have greatly benefited from their professional, conscientious therapeutic work.

Fantastic experience: I’ve visited a few PTs in the past and I was never impressed with the service I got, but i decided to try again. I went into Prairie Rehab with jaw and neck pain that effected me for years. Al showed me exercises to begin to mitigate the pain while he worked on finding what the source of the problem was. The man knows exactly what he is doing. There are 26 muscles in the head and neck. Not only does he deeply understand how each muscle works, he can also feel them and pin point where there is tension and knows precisely how to relieve it. In just a handful of sessions he got me pain free and left me with a good understanding of how to maintain myself so the problem doesn't return. 10/10 will recommend Al to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I am completing two months of physical therapy at Prairie Rehabilitation - Central. A big “shout out” to Physical Therapist Al who created a customized exercise and stretching plan to relieve my tight shoulder and neck muscles. Earlier in the year I fractured my femur; Al was able to teach me exercises that would increase my muscle strength along with weight bearing techniques. A bonus: I no longer have brain fog! Thank you to the ladies at the front desk who are cheerful.

Fantastic experience: I have seen Lori Johnson for Womens health therapy at the Harrisburg and Cliff Ave location after I had my daughter 2.5 years ago as well as during the pregnancy of my son and after his birth this year. Lori has immense knowledge of pelvic floor therapy and helped me get through SI pain / low back issues leading up to his birth. I would highly recommend her and this clinic!

I was treated by two Doctors Al and Jason and they were both very informative and helpful in relieving the pain I had on the left side of my lower jaw. Fantastic experience: I HIGHLY recommend, without reservation, Prairie Rehab and the professional physical therapy services of Allen Holm. The clinic is very friendly and supportive. I have needed care for hip bursitis and tennis elbow. The superb expertise of Al Holm has led to my recovery from these ailments. I so appreciate the superior quality of the care I have received.

Fantastic experience: Last summer I had a trigger finger which was giving me problems with things that I enjoyed doing. The Orthopedic doctor thought I might need some surgery on my hand which didn’t sound like any fun, so I decided to try therapy first and surgery as a second option. Boy am ever glad that this is the path I chose! A big thank you to Tim as I am not just sure which hand the trigger finger was even on! I am now back at Prairie Rehab for an issue on my shoulder, again with Tim. After just 2 weeks, my shoulder is feeling much better. I still have away to go but I know I am in good hands and if I do as Tim says it will get even better! Thank you Tim...you are the best and I would recommend checking out Prairie Rehab before and after any surgeries to everyone! Right now Tim has a student working with him and Brenna is great but will be even better under the guidance of Tim....so thanks to Tim and Brenna for their concern and knowledge to help me recover!

Fantastic experience: I went to prairie rehabilitation for a wrist injury and they were amazing ! Lee did all the work on my wrist, he was gentle, kind and took very good care of me. The staff was super friendly and kind ! I 10/10 recommend!!

Fantastic experience: This is a GREAT place! It starts with Carrie at the front desk. She is always so cheerful and helpful. She gets you in quickly but always with a smile and pleasant conversation. Then, there is Al Holm. He is an amazing physical therapist! His knowledge is over-the-top! He asks questions to find out exactly what the issue is and creates a plan from there. He constantly evaluates the progress. Most importantly I felt like he listened to what I had to say, of course, explaining it in my very layman's terminology. He made sure I was healed before releasing me but not before I was ready. He also made sure to let me know that if I felt I was backsliding that I had to let him know. If you need a physical therapist I would definitely recommend Al Holm and all of the team at Prairie Rehabilitation. They are a 10!!!

Fantastic experience: I have had physical therapy before and after numerous surgeries. I recently moved to Sioux Falls and went to Prairie Rehab on S. Cliff for physical therapy. If was superior to all my previous sessions over the years. My hip issue was resolved and they helped me with my gait to lessen then stress on the hip. The entire staff is exceptional and I actually enjoyed going to my appointments. Thank you Al & Jason!

Fantastic experience: I worked with Lori J at Prairie Rehab on Cliff Ave. She was very professional and answered all my questions and even modeled exercises that I was having trouble with. Fantastic experience: Amazing place for anyone with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Lori was awesome to have for my therapist and the treatments (specific exercises, massages and biofeedback) she provided has helped me through it. Fantastic experience: I went there for help with my back pain. Michelle, Jason, & Micha all worked together to make sure I improved & we were on the same page. They were very hands on to get my back working properly. They applied enough preasure but without hurting me. They instructed me what I needed to do to improve at home as well & made sure I was doing everything correctly.

Fantastic experience: Prairie Rehabilitation in Sioux Falls is absofreakinglutely awesome! Joe Bures takes the time to figure out what's causing your issue. He shows you ways to improve your condition on your own along with his treatment plan at the clinic. I've been going to Joe for 2 years now with conditions ranging from foot drop, golfer's elbow and shoulder impingement. He's the real deal!! If you're living with pain that's decreasing your quality of life, get in and see Joe!!
