Providence St. Luke's Rehabilitation Institute: Reviews
Fantastic experience: All of the therapists were excellent with my mother over the past few weeks. Miracles can happen. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Medical center is the best institution ever. I suffered stroke , after intensive care and treatment at Sacred Hearts medical center I was transferred to this complex. The CNAs, RNs and all the staff are great, the Doctors are just amazing. They are very nice listeners and they visit every patient as a team. The food is very nice. You find eating it even when you don’t have appetite. Flexible in meals and on their menu. The most amazing team of professionals are therapists. They are highly experienced and extremely friendly. I came here in a wheelchair. I am now walking and helping to push my friends. This institution deserves seven stars not just five stars.
Positive experience: The physical therapist is amazing! They are very hard to get a hold of though by phone unfortunately. He the PT told me they have a new phone system. The PT also called me when I missed an appt once! He wanted to make sure I was ok. I recommend making all your appts with them in person as they don't seem to check their messages. I had left several voicemail but no one ever called me back except the PT wondering if I was OK cuz he didn't get a single message about me not gonna make it to my appt that day! They are otherwise professional & caring.
Fantastic experience: I just want to say that Benjamin Carpenter one of the massage therapist. He is the most kind and most knowledgeable young man. He really knows a lot about the intricacies of human tissue. And how to maneuver them. My muscles some how naturally tense up lately. But when I leave Benjamins table. I am relieved and way more relaxed than before I arrived. I can not say enough about this young man. For words would I fear not do him justice. I don't normally do reviews unless someone did a horrible job. Or they superseded my expectations. Go Benjamin you are the absolute best ever.
Fantastic experience: I came in there with a broken neck and back amongst other broken bones and everyone took exceptional care of me!! I was very impressed! Nurses that went above the call of duty and proved they truly cared! Thank you to all of you but I will say, I hope I never see you again under those circumstances!
Negative experience: My sister was there for little less than 3 weeks, she was very critical when she arrived, they pushed her way too hard which lead to harsher medical conditions, which put her at sacred heart, then other care facilities after. I was not impressed with the care
Fantastic experience: This place is absolutely amazing. Everyone was so kind and took better care of my dad than I could have hoped for. Cant say enough, from their kind staff to their facilities with real life props were patient get to practice real life activities. This place is just the best. I'd like to give a special thanks to Dave in shipping and receiving for being such an outstanding guy and making sure my packages reached the right destination! He really went above and beyond.
Fantastic experience: The heated pool exercises are awesome for my arthritis. PT works with you. Got nothing but positive things to say about this place.
Fantastic experience: My sister just spent 9 days there and EVERYONE working on the Brain Injury Unit provided excellent care - no complaints, just gratitude. Everyone presented as very caring and genuine during my daily visits- my observations are based on an average 10 hours per day for 9 straight days.
Fantastic experience: My experience at St Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital for my SCI was miraculous. The PT-OT team was fabulous, taking me from not being able to sit up, feed myself, not standing or walking, to being able to reach these milestones! They made me believe in a recovery. I am so grateful for my care at St Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital. Sincerely, Sherri Gittel
Negative experience: Poorest service went three times to make a appointment would never was waited on
Negative experience: I regret going to this center. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and suffered a sudden acute paralasis and lost my ability to walk. While inpatient I suffered multiple injuries, and falls at this facility, which declined my health further, when they tried to make me stand up. More recent testing confirms orthostatic intolerance, and brain anurism. Anurisms are known complications of EDS, while multiple falls and injuries are known medical symptoms, of orthostatic intolerances. The staff claimed I do not have EDS, and claimed my physical symptoms were all in my head. The inaccurate medical reporting of the medical staff, are now making it almost impossible for me to get treatment anywhere else. If you have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, I strongly sugest you reconsider going to this facility for rehab. They did get me better, they only got me more hurt.
Negative experience: I am totally disappointed in this clinic, I feel that my father was discriminated against, because my father was hospitalized due to a stroke because he lost total mobility on his right side and he had only been hospitalized for 4 weeks and my father did not have the ability to stand up. he couldn't talk and what they did was take him out and admit him to another clinic, I think that this change, instead of being positive for him, was totally the opposite, because my dad had already adapted to his therapists and nurses and was being more cooperative. and this change made him very confused and now he is totally in denial and does not even want to let his diaper be changed. I saw on many occasions patients walking and talking in that stroke area and my father cannot even speak or regain movement because His damaged side is still in bed without being able to say more than 3 words and without being able to stand up and he was only excluded because the same doctor said that he was not yet ready... I feel totally frustrated and disappointed, I do not recommend this place even to my worst enemy...
Fantastic experience: I was inbound theropy, for 4 days, both OT and PT. I don't even know where to start but all of the staff, nurses, aids, doctor, everyone involved with my care was outstanding, and made me feel like I was a lot more than just another patient. I true believe that everyone there deeply cares that you get the best care. Again thank you so much to all the staff that I had met at St Luke's, you all where so caring. Ben
Fantastic experience: The Inland Northwest is truly blessed to have St. Luke's.
Fantastic experience: I have been a patient several times now, and the staff is really great. I had shoulder surgery last year..My arm works like new!. I was going to have my knee done this week, but my PT helped me so much , my doctor and I think that I no longer need to have surgery! Thanks Travis and Michelle !
Fantastic experience: I have been both an inpatient ( for my total knee replacement #1) and an outpatient (for a car accident and total knee replacement #2) of St Luke's. I am beyond happy with their therapists and staff. I am a stronger and more physically capable person with the results I have had because of this organization. I highly recommend them for any Physical Therapy a person may need!
Fantastic experience: This is an excellent rehabilitation hospital with a very caring staff. They provide very appropriate and aggressive rehabilitation care to help you improve and get better. The staff is very attentive and quick to respond.
Fantastic experience: After my Car Accident in 2021 I started therapy here to help treat my TBI symptoms. For 6+ months I was in Occupational and Speech therapy. I absolutely loved how they helped me get better and find common ground. ☺️ I couldn't have asked for better therapists during my recovery!
Negative experience: Ha
Fantastic experience: This was by far The best Physical therapist I have ever experienced mine was in the pool and on land best combo a must.
Negative experience: Being a part of Providence don't waste your time! you're going to be treated like garbage. staff is not going to be helpful. you're not going to get the care that you need Providence will never care about the patients. Providence about ripping apart everything that they can and bleeding us all dry as a community. Thank you Mindy Vicki and Lori for being the type of people that we need. misinformed and unhelpful at your job and a pro at saying pass the buck. Providence has a real greedy type of attitude with lack of care for people.
Negative experience: I went in for help with a swollen foot and bad back. Their "treatment" was telling me to ride an eliptical for 30 minutes to "stretch it out." The pain was unbearable and I sat there alone for 29 minutes, untill a different person came and told me my session was done and i was making great progress. Worst experience i have ever had, they should be complely ashamed of themselves.
Negative experience: I was a patient several months ago. I am a type 1 diabetic. When I was admitted the 1st day I was sent for an x-ray that resulted in a non displaced fracture of my left humerus at the shoulder to become a total dislocation ad requiring a surgery to place plates and pins. While at the facility there was a physical therapist that wanted me to do therapy, which I refused to do until I saw my orthopedic surgeon at the end of the month. (20 days later). I received daily blood tests and all of them showed my hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets were very low. However, a doctor I had never seen nor been examined by said I was fine. I was having a difficult time keeping my blood pressure up and was dizzy when standing and walking. At discharge, I was taken off my short acting insulin. Which is taken with meals to keep blood sugar from going too high. And my long acting insulin was decreased so low my blood sugar was far too high when I ate. In addition I was placed on a medication for angina and chest pain... I had neither. Thankfully I didn't take it until I could look it up. It was a beta blocker that would lower my blood pressure.. which was too low. When I was taken in for surgery to fix my shoulder the doctor had blood on standby in case I needed it because of my hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets. The morning after surgery I was given 2 pints of blood, iron and magnesium. I can't tell you how AWESOME I felt after that. Then I was give more iron the following day. And more the day I was discharged from the hospital. So, I would not allow anyone I cared about to be sent to this institution. I could mean loss of their life.
Negative experience: Terrible service! Take your money somewhere else! They reschedule your appointment and then cancel the new one they give you without even notifying you! I drove over an hour one way for nothing!
Negative experience: St Luke’s uses covid policy as an excuse to cut corners and treat patients poorly while reaping the financial benefits. Staff cannot seem to maintain medication schedules to manage pain- when patients have a number of broken bones and are only receiving Tylenol and baby aspirin, how are they supposed to do 3 hours of PT? Food is absolute garbage- no matter what you order you will be sent Albuquerque boiled turkey- they should save time and just tell patients they are rationed a plate of rubber and mush. Patients are ignored, and family who want to help loved ones are disregarded and denied access. 1 family member is permitted access between 8-5. After hours line doesn’t even work! Their nurse to patient ratios are unacceptable and both suffer because of poor management decisions that place profits ahead of patients. Patients are not listened to or treated with the dignity they deserve. If you love your family member DO NOT SEND THEM HERE OR TRANSFER THEM OUT ASAP!
Fantastic experience: The team at st. Luke's north is awesome , everyone is very caring , they got me back in good shape , fast , Thank you Alec , Mandy , and Becca , couldn't have done it without you , Sherrie Kuiper
Fantastic experience: This place was wonderful. My boyfriend stayed here for about a month and a half. They worked with him constantly and he had such wonderful care. They diagnosed what was wrong with him. Worked with me so I was comfortable with him going home. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Fantastic experience: My son was transferred to St. Lukes rehabilitation center from sacred heart hospital. He was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident. His doctors at sacred heart gave us three different rehabilitation center to choose from but said they recommended St.Lukes, told us they have an amazing team that would make sure he was well taken care and read to go home. After doing a little research we chose St.Luke rehabilitation center. They welcomed us and made us feel comfortable. I will be forever grateful to the entire staff for treating my son so well and taking such good care of him. Thank you!!
Fantastic experience: I have been working with the staff here for over a year due to Covid! Today is my last day here... I will miss them dearly! They are such an invaluable team. St Lukes is lucky to employ such compassionate staff members! Kudos to them!!!
Fantastic experience: I've been a patient at St Luke's in the aqua-therapy and outpatient PT programs twice now for ongoing issues with back pain issues stemming from stenosis and osteoarthritis, and I can't say enough good things about the staff and the treatment I receive. Travis has been fantastic at setting up exercises that really address my problems, and he is great in explaining how it all works to improve my strength and mobility. And Samantha and Cindy in the pool are great at that also, as well as providing lots of positive feedback and encouragement to keep trying. I've had PT at other places throughout the years but St Luke's yields more progress and results than any other program I've been through. I highly recommend this place if you're committed to relearning how to properly move your body.
Negative experience: Would not recommend. They put everyone in a restraint on admit. A seatbelt that is attached to an alarm if undone. Sister who had Stage 4 lung cancer with only weeks to live was admitted there after a stroke. It was a week that she was not able to see her family and she didn't need the therapy anyway. She passed away less than 2 weeks after she left there. She felt she had no choice and was pushed into going there and pushed further to stay longer. She finally had to really put her foot down to get discharged.
Negative experience: Just got off the phone with the rudest receptionist I've ever talked to wasn't any help at all and hung up on me in the middle of me asking a question
Fantastic experience: I had a Severe brain injury and was only given 3% chance of living and thanks to god I survived and this rehabilitation is the best, yes they can be demanding butat the end of the day their trying to get everyone to become better and the staff are amazing, they give you options which a lot of other places don't, i am super thankful for all the staff who took care of me!
Fantastic experience: My physical and Cardiac therapy was great . Thank you for the best treatment .
Negative experience: Please be cautious- this is a one sided relationship with office staff. It is what works for them and meeting in the middle is not a possibility. I had one misunderstanding and there is no leeway. If you can invest your time to do what they say exactly the way they say you are fine. If not - don’t waste your time developing a relationship with the speech therapist because the office staff doesn’t make mistakes. You tell them you will have to go somewhere else they are good with that without even taking the time to investigate whether you could be correct. Be cautious it’s an investment mentally to commit to speech and they care nothing about retaining you as a client.
Negative experience: I've been bringing my son here for nearly nine years and it has been a steady decline of care. I love the therapists but the higher ups have turned st lukes more about money and less about actually helping people. Firing therapists who have been here for twenty years, threatening parents to drop them if you're late twice. They've made it very clear that it's about quantity over quality.
Negative experience: As of last Monday my father went in for heart surgery but after words he had another issue after a few days in the hospital they sent him to st. Luke’s rehab come to find out he was signed a case worker from dhsh she was making all the decisions with out taking to the family she will talk to the staff of the rehab clinic and the doctor but never once ever worked with the family they will ask stupid questions like how do you cook fish or they laid money on the table and ask how do you make change
Fantastic experience: I received the absolute best care and therapy here!! Can't wait to continue my outpatient therapy.
Fantastic experience: My Dad had a stroke and went to St. Luke's for rehabilitation. They were great from day one treated my Dad like family. The therapy team consisted of Amy Lou and Kelsey physical therapists. Donna and Matt occupational therapist. Luke speech therapist and Nate recreation therapist. They all did a phenomenal job. I would highly recommend St. Luke's to anyone in need of rehabilitation.
Fantastic experience: My sons use their services for occupational therapy. I'm so happy with the entire staff, they are kind and extremely helpful!
Fantastic experience: My wife had an amazing stay and is now at 100% plus the food is great!
Negative experience: My first time there was AMAZING!! Would love to give a 5 star rating! This time I can't seem to get anyone to respond to a phone call for an appointment! Have been waiting to get an EMG done for over 1 and a half month now for my neurologist and I'm still waiting for a call back just to make an appointment. Disappointed
Negative experience: I found one of the therapists to be abusive as well. When I wasn't moving quickly enough for her she grabbed me by the shorts and violently jerked me on my one good leg. I was just a couple of days after a traumatic ankle reconstruction surgery with my leg and ankle encased in a metal support frame, with steel rods going through my bones. Her behavior was inexcusable. I managed to make it through life without getting a wedgie, cant say that anymore. That woman is in the wrong business. I couldn't get anything close to a good night's sleep with their constant interruptions, and the food was horrible, with almost no variety. I give them an extra star because most of the nurses and therapists were caring and professional, and you won't find a better facility in the spokane area that I know of. Get rid of that horrible therapist and head chef and you're looking at 4-5 stars
Negative experience: very abusive to husband. made him sit up in w/c all night because he didn't want his side rails up. then positioned him far away from the phone/and call light so he couldn't call for help. horrible people.
Negative experience: I cannot speak of the physical therapists as I only got my initial assessment. I had to move so I wouldn’t end up on the streets and in the confusion I missed an appointment. The administrators Will not let me make appointments now, all I can do is call up in the morning and ask if there’s an opening and then find transportation on short notice which I cannot do. So, I have not had any physical therapy. thank you St. Luke’s administrators .
Fantastic experience: My family and I are so beyond grateful to St. Lukes for the care they provided. My mom had a massive stroke, and we were unsure she would recover. From the moment we arrived as my mom was admitted, St. Lukes treated her like their own family. Each caretaker was so genuine with her and skilled at what they did. They each seemed to truly care about her- like she was their own mother. They provided a bed for me to sleep in, as I live out of state, and went out of their way to accommodate us. They cheered her on and stuck to their schedules. They treated their time with her as very valuable and adjusted to her specific needs in each care routine. Thank you, St. Lukes. And thank you to the administration who wrote me a letter for my university since I was missing exams.
Positive experience: they work you hard but if you have faith in their abilities you'll know why. they provide a challlenging yet doable therapy sched. based partly off of what your personal goals are.food is decent, rooms clean and neat, newer equiptment. good beds, good facilities and campus all around. the people that were the best to be taken care of by are: troy-rn.very smart and personable katherine-ot even-pt very modivating and engaging. very educated and proficent lance-ot has a wealth of patients and knowledge richard-pt (this man in a miracleworker****) if ur lucky enough to seee him ask him to help with massage and stretching!!! it helped memore than the drugs did. julia daher-dr stern, efficent, accomidating, available when you need her generally andrea-nac made me feel right at home. ganelle-nac (best personality at st.lukes, great care provider) my favorite! dale-nac kept a smile on my face. kieth-rn (awsome guy)fast, efficent, funny and personable and very good at his job as a whole jim-pt(avoid if possible if agressive isint really your prefered mode of therapy) lauren-pt(awful therapist...cold and indifferent, innatentive, always anoid and short with patients, not a warm and caring vibe in sight) katrina-cafeteria worker- great listener and always willing to assist a patient in many ways, as most of the staff down there are as well. watch out for teresah the one in charge of discharges...she will send you anywhere as long as it isint st.lukes..she tried to discharge me to unsafe and gernerally AWFUL places. dont trust a word she says and do your own research, she will lie to you if it gets you to shut up and make her day even easier than it is.do your own finding of treatment places, cause if you dont, she will send u to one of a very few places she actually calls, in reality their are 100's available.
Fantastic experience: I need to find my cancer survivor, artists ...spiritually, people...if this place is what it says....help me.....lonesome soul.
