Mercy Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation - Springfield

Fantastic experience: The rehab facility is very clean, with plenty of equipment and room for a pleasant workout for any age or level of fitness. The staff is very kind, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Best of all...no ridiculous selfie videos being made by self absorbed narcissists!

Fantastic experience: This is a great place to have cardiac rehab! The staff is very open, friendly and helful. The atmosphere is very positive and it makes going to rehab a pleasure. The rehab nurses are very knowledgable and give tremendous support. The facility is well maintained and they have plenty of machines as well as a track to walk on. As an added bonus, access to the building is right off Fremont and parking is very easy and plentiful. You will not be disappointed.

Negative experience: It’s been frustrating. I like the set up. I’m level 3, where I had an evaluation then come in and exercise on my own. I’m not monitored but help is available if I have a problem. I like the equipment. However, there have been problems. The hours aren’t convenient if you work. I live an hour away and I came on a Saturday butvthe hours posted on Google are wrong. They’re not open at all on the weekends. Some mornings when I went in at 7 I never saw a staff member. I assume that someone was back in the office area but I felt uncomfortable because I wasn’t sure someone would be available if I had a problem. There are lockers somewhere but I was never shown where. They suggest leaving purse, phone in your car, which I definitely don’t think is a good idea. The most frustrating thing of all happened when I put the program on hold for a couple months. I was assured at the time it wouldn’t be a problem. I called a few weeks ago ready to come back after a medicine change, at my doctor’s recommendation. The lady took quite a bit of information, then said I could come in any time to get my access reinstated. I went yesterday over my lunch hour and was told I would have to see my Case Msnager and that I would probably need a signed statement from my doctor. The Case Manager wasn’t available at the time. They wouldn’t let me see someone else, even though I had only worked with the lady once, during my evaluation. The lady took my phone number, but no one called me back. Additionally, they never discussed with me initially what would have been needed to have been on level 2, covered by the insurance company, where I would have been monitored during exercise. They seemed less interested in working with me because I was referred by someone outside the Mercy system, although I had been to the Mercy emergency room twice, hospitalized overnight, had a CT scan, an angiogram, and a nuclear stress test, a follow up appointment with a cardiologist and a cardiac nurse practitioner. I ended up needing to go outside their network to get the help I needed.
