Springfield Clinic Orthopedics Walk-In

Negative experience: The doctors at Springfield clinic orthopedic walk-in seemed to only care about scheduling as many different things to charge your insurance rather than sitting down and actually speaking to the patient and trying to figure out what’s wrong. On Saturday, I went into Springfield clinic to get my shoulder looked at and was refused treatment because I did not want to schedule a x-ray before speaking to a doctor. The doctor informed the nurse To tell me that he would not see me if I would not OK the x-rays.

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, and fairly quick for a walk-in clinic.

Negative experience: I was turned away as a walk-in because they said the wait was too long. Yet, they were seeing people who came in after me. When I questioned them, they said that they will only see acute injuries when they are limited on time. No one ever asked if my injury was acute or chronic…they just immediately sent me out the door. Very unfortunate first impression.

Negative experience: My husband went to the walk in clinic on Aug 24 for plantar fasciitis that hadn't healed after 3 months of rest. He saw a PA for 10 minutes who ordered X-ray and MRI. After insurance, bill was $335.46 for '45 min outpatient "new patient" visit' even though it was a walk in clinic visit for plantar fasciitis. He was sent home with a foot brace he didn't need and was told to stop wearing 5 days later after MRI, $327. Follow up visit: under 10 minutes with PA for $255.42. Final followup visit: 5 minutes with PA for $180.78. I called the patient advocate team to ask about self pay rates. I was told "we can't tell you what self pay for an office visit costs, not even in advance." I asked if they could tell me the percentage difference between their self pay rates vs. what gets billed to insurance. I was told "we can't tell you what a visit costs (insurance or self pay) and we can't tell you what percentage a self pay rate would be." I asked to speak to whoever the self pay person is. She never called me back. Asked to speak to Ortho clinic assistant manager about rates and charges. She refused to speak to me, her receptionist told me to call patient advocate about it. Patient advocate didn't call me back. Our poor experience begs the question: are people charged arbitrary amounts for arbitrary reasons on arbitrary days? How else to explain the utter lack of cost transparency and the refusal to communicate?

Fantastic experience: Had an injury during an early morning run, went there that morning, was seen almost immediately. Got X-rays done there. Was seen by a doctor who gave me a thorough exam and explanation, and gives me great confidence (Dr. Duhig). All in all, an excellent health-care experience. I am so grateful they have this walk-in (hobble-in, in my case) clinic. I recommend this highly.

Positive experience: Got in as soon as they opened so I didn’t have to wait . Got checked in, x-ray wrist, diagnosed and out the door in 30 minutes. 4 stars because my prescription was sent to Sams pharmacy in St. Charles , Mo. Calling in to correct this, I was on hold and transferred for 10 minutes. Recording asked enter my number to call me back. I hung up and got on the Sams app to transfer it to Springfield. Took only a few minutes. Be sure you specify which pharmacy.

Fantastic experience: Registration went very smoothly! Taken back to room within 5-10 minutes! Was seen by PA-C Rory - very Professional, Compassionate, Knowledgeable, good rapport with me! Ordered several x-rays and the x-ray technician was Great! After back in patient room, the PA came in told us the Patella was fractured!! She showed us the x-rays and where the fracture was located!! A total knee/leg brace was ordered and put on me!! The PA told me “Non-Weight bearing until I see her in 2 weeks; I’ve the knee!

Fantastic experience: We really like the idea of a walk in orthopedic clinic. The nurse was most excellent. Very Pleasant and knowledgeable. The Doctor was Great as well. He got me set up with PT and diagnosed my shoulder issue. I have an another appointment in 3.5 weeks.

Fantastic experience: Twice in the last 3 years I have visited the Springfield clinic walk-in orthopedic clinic. Both times I found the treatment efficient friendly and excellent. The staff are all friendly and the doctors listen and prescribe effective treatments in order x-rays if needed and you do it right then. I'm just really impressed.

Fantastic experience: I was told there was a hour to hour and a half wait. The whole process from going to a room with the nurse, seeing the dr, then to xray, back to the room and seeing the dr again and finishing up with nurse was approximately 2 hours. The dr was thorough in explaining what was wrong with my heel.

Negative experience: I came in 3 weeks ago complaining of knee pain and pain in my hand, obvious swelling in both my knee and hand, first I was told I can only be seen for one thing at a time and I’d have to make another appointment to be seen again. The dr then told me he would need to get my records my primary but would have to schedule a follow up appointment until then he sent me for an xray of my knee and sent me home. 3 weeks later I’ve called twice to ask what my xray revealed and if my records came in. Both times I was told I will be called back . I received my bill for the service but haven’t even been helped yet. That’s poor service .

Fantastic experience: I was A walk-in about 2 PM in the afternoon. Had a swollen and painful ankle for about three weeks before I decided to come to the clinic. I had a 20 minute wait and I was taken in to an exam room taken to x-rays and return to the exam room, Dr. Dun possible misspelling came in and explained the x-rays to me very succinctly. He examined my foot was excellent at explaining all the bone structure and what was causing the pain. He said we would try a set of supports that he had a nurse bring in later , they immediately relieved my pain and for the rest of the day I could walk quite normally after several days I believe they will do the trick so far so good . This is one of the best doctors I’ve had in the sense of his communication with the patient and his explanations.

Nineteen days after my injury and three previous doctor visits, it was an incredible relief to encounter someone who realized healing was going backward rather than forward and then prescribed a treatment plan.

Fantastic experience: This is the second time I visited the Walk-in Orthopedic Center and have had good experiences both times. Very short wait time prior to being seen, thorough conversation and exam with doctor, prompt review of X-rays and a game plan with follow-up before leaving.

All the orthopedic doctors have been friendly, and helpful. They fit you right there with appropriate braces, and make sure they fit properly. So convenient and time saving. They were a blessing when my kids played sports, and always help this old girl out!

He was very attentive and nice. I recommend this doctor, at the walk-in orthopedic clinic of Springfield clinic. Everybody was very nice and helpful and very professional. I am very grateful to have met such a wonderful doctor and staff.

Answered all my questions never skipped a beat understood my pain. Never made me feel like I had a bad question. She understood I needed to work but wanted not to be in pain. She made me feel like a human being. She told every instruction and made sure I knew that I knew I could call if I needed anything.

Positive experience: I received very good care from the staff and attending physician but I am still in pain. I can not lay down without chest pains, shortness of breath, left shoulder and arm with tenderness, sharp and shooting pain. I have to sleep sitting up in a chair with a pillow in my loward back so my shoulder blade doesn't touch anything.

Positive experience: Walk in orthopedic clinic is a great way to get seen quickly. Only concern is long wait to get X-rays because patients from regular clinic also getting X-rays.

Fantastic experience: I presented to the walk in orthopedic clinic on 01/03/24. Dr. James Newman saw me and performed a through exam, diagnosed my condition and discussed my treatment options. I was very impressed with Dr. Newmann's knowledge, skill and competency.

Positive experience: I have had to use the outpatient orthopedic clinic several times...unfortunately. But, the doctors have always been able to correctly find out what was going on with my bones. Problems like two knee replacements, stress fractures in my foot. From the time I walked in to walking out 2 hours later, I knew the problem and had a treatment plan we were going to follow. Peace of mind and comfortable treatment plan priceless when it comes to your bones. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was very kind, mellow and professional. A breath of fresh air! The building, exam room, X-ray area and restroom were spotless! Other clinics in town and even hospitals nowadays aren't very clean, the floor tiles, have visible dirt and dust. The main entrances are clean and some hallways, however the exam rooms floor tiles used to be gleaming, and it used smelled clean in there. Now, waiting rooms have windows and ledges are filthy and overriden with dust. Even in the ER dried blood curtains and on linens, and other areas! I even dred walking on their floors, making sure my purse, coat, sweater or anything else, touches the floor. I disinfect my shoes when I get home. I am going to transfer all of my Healthcare to Springfield Clinic. I wish Springfield Clinic would open up a hospital near Scheels in Springfield, IL. The State Capital definitely, needs more, than 2 hospitals. The X-ray tech created the most beautiful and clear images, I have ever seen! She wasn't rushed, clearly, she explained everything before, each procedure. She beamed with joy as she performed her job. A rare jewel. Keep up the good work! A very satisfied customer.
