Lakeside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Llc: Reviews
Negative experience: I've been in worse facilities , but not much worse than this place.. there have been reports of people losing tremendous amounts of weight because they weren't fed properly with their feeding tubes , one patient lost almost thirty pounds and was removed for his/her own safety.. I live here. And I am desperately looking for another place.. I was served bread in a cup and they called it bread pudding! The state forced them to replace the carpeting. In one hall , because it was so stained with feces and urine everywhere.. They are on the stage watch list and they have a grade of f.. There is a constant line of people coming in and applying for jobs.Because the turnover is so great.. You never know who you're gonna get around here because they might not be working here one day.. I have asked for palliative care.. And the doctor refused. I one time asked them to call an ambulance.I was so sick and they laughed at me and said there is nothing wrong with me , and that the director of nurse's refuse to allow them to call an ambulance and a mocked me and said call on yourself... So that's exactly what I did.. I was in the hospital admitted with a severe infection , and I stayed there ten days.. This has happened to me 5 or 6 times at this facility.I have been hospitalized six times for a deadly infection.. This place didn't have any working vacuums for months , they were just sweeping the floor with an old broom that was worn out in a dust pan.. They find my got a cheap vacuum.. And now it's broken.. The owners of this facility do not care about the residents only about dollars.. Residents are often left with their diapers , soiled and hanging by their ankles , dragging on the floor.. I notified them of this and a just ignored it.. The day room is disgusting. The floor is stained and often there is food all over the furniture that isn't clean for days.. They ran out of disposable water cups and we were forced to drink out of dirty cups for 5 days before they got clean cups.. , but the lids dont , so they spill a lot.. Often portions can be very tiny when served a meal , m and n at other times way too much.. The food is mediocre and I understand how hard it must be.For them to budget a decent meal , on so little funds... often the places dirty, the state just made them repair holes in the walls and replace the stained carpet in the hallway. But the day room is disgusting.. There are some staff here that will say , hurtful things about residents and actually gossip to other residents about you... Thus making it hard for you.. An employee should never gossip about a resident. But this has happened a lot here.Staff says very hurtful things about residents.. There are some caring people here, but they don't last long.No one really wants to work in a place this bad.. When you first come here, you'll say to yourself.Oh that's not too bad.. But just try living here.. I've seen patients neglected to death.Maybe not this facility , but i've seen it another facilities as well... If I could give anybody a piece of advice that's looking for a place for their loved one.. It\nWould be run as fast as you can away from this place.. If you love your family member , please don't put them here.. It's a chamber of horrors...
Fantastic experience: My mother was here for rehabilitation and her nurses assistant Dangelo Jones took very good care of her. She raved over him and he did a wonderful job with her… he was always kind and showed patience with her…we need more cna’s like him around.
Positive experience: I am a present patient, and I am very sad...the administration staff or whoever is in charge, is making me feel like my health does not matter. I have had superb care from the nurses nurses assisitants the dietary staff, and the activities director Thomas is so caring and thoughtful of all the patients. Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist work along with you, in techniques that will help you improve your abilities in all aspects of your daily life. The reason I am here is bc of a very serious open wound, I have suffered being septic at Troy Beaumont, which is the facility that saved me leg and a team of doctors helped me stay away of septic shock. Coming here to a rehab is to continue the care of my wound vac, and to keep my healing improving with the utmost safety and cleanliness and help me back to my daily life. The most important thing is my serious open wound, I sit here looking at my wound vac that needs to be attached, bc the wound nurse that was here today to work on patients , did not have me on the list. Amy the NP sees you first for an evaluation to proceed with having the Wound Nurse care on the healing of keeping the dressings done promptly and giving patients the care each one needs. Amy has asked ;" are there any new patients admitted who require wound care???" She was told NO What am I chopped liver ? So sad
Positive experience: I chose a particular location because it was close to family so that I can get rehab rehabilitation when I was discharged from the hospital. I was unable to stand or walk without either a walker or cane due to severe pain in my right Leg due to bursitis/cellulitis.. It was recommended that I do physical therapy twice a day but there What is no scheduled set of times and so basically I went down there on my own, occasionally the therapist l Did come to get me for therapy. I also need to avoid eating foods high in potassium due to kidney issues and also am diabetics. I need to avoid food high in sugar. This took about six or seven days before we got that temporarily resolved. it was about three days or so then all of a sudden I was being served foods high in potassium and or sugar.. when I pushed the call button for the nurse to come because of an issue, I took sometimes five minutes sometimes 30 minutes before they responded. . There is a nurse her name is Lobna. she gets a five star rating because she was treating my blister that was not healing and she was faithfully cleaning it and re-wrapping it as needed. Thank you. Lobna
Negative experience: On September 17th My wife and I checked in to lakeside Manor nursing rehab we were in there for rehab and My wife left the room and came back about 15 minutes later I asked her we're u back already she said yes it got worse we rang the call button and it took a while to get some one in there we asked for towels and took a while to get it I ask them to change the linens and they brought it in and put it down on the chair and never came back to put it on and My wife and I had to put it on are self's this is neglect a few of ur personal were very helpful some of the people were very rude my wife and I met we turned on the call light at 7.20 pm and they did not come in for about an hour this is neglect breakfast and lunch were late one Saturday breakfast didn't come in until almost 10.00 am lunch came in late meals were not always on time had to complain the room wasn't cleaned and the biggest thing leaving uranal full of urine with breakfast that is discuting the aids and cena who came in left it there instead of emptying them that was lazy this nursing home had scraped plaster that needed to be replaced this is neglect in facility asking to wait for towels and to make the beds especially in the evening also we had asked 3 times in 3 days to do r laundry and it was ignored
Negative experience: This facility was listed as one of the worst nursing homes in Michigan. It is terribly managed and residents are neglected and bullied.
Fantastic experience: The Administrator Teri went out of her way to help me and my brother. We could not have done anything without her. I know God placed her in my path. And I am most thankful for her help. The Lord aligned up the Angels and gave us Teri.
Fantastic experience: This place was really great. They treat you wonderful with respect and I would come here again and recommend it to anybody I know.
Negative experience: I can’t recommend this facility. Went there after major life threatening spinal surgery. I spent 24/7 alone in my room with door closed and the aids gave me attitude if i needed help. Mind you, i had vetebrae removed and bone infection in my knee. Imagine laying for hours in your feces and urine filled bedding not being changed. The physical therapist kept threatening me and other patients that our insurance would cancel care if we did not meet their goals for daily therapy. My time there was a nightmare to put it mildly!!
Fantastic experience: Ms. Marcee my liaison Marcee referred me to Lakeside. I have had great therapy. The staff have been nothing but good. The therapist have me back walking. If you ever need a rehab facility I recommend Lakeside Manor. The liaison Marcee followed me all the way till I admitted and she also will come check on you. I give Lakeside a 5 star
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. Nursing staff is very uncaring and neglectful to residents. Witnessed one aide arguing with a patient. Nursing staff unresponsive to call button. 3 separate times, I had to walk to nursing station to request someone to come to room for parent’s needs. Not sure if they’re understaffed, but would definitely NOT recommend bringing your loved one here

Negative experience: My mother-in-law was recently sent here for rehab after several falls due to PSP. This place is deplorable. Rude CNA’s , rude admittance officer. They did NOTHING to help her whatsoever and I was a very good advocate for her and was there every day at the facility. They put her out early anlong with 4 other residents on the same day and blamed Medicare. Who knows what they told them in their reports?? as I have paperwork that says she was supposed to be there 8 weeks and she was there 6!! She is also still wheelchair bound when the goal was to get her walking with a walker and has fallen twice in the three days since she has been home. The only thing that gives this place a chance of staying open is Irena the social worker who is beyond fabulous, Thomas the activities director and Latonya the nurse on south side and head nurse Lubna. If not for these people this place is so poorly run it would close. I have been in healthcare over 20 years DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE!!

Fantastic experience: My son just spent 42 days at Lakeside Manor and was just released. It was an excellent rehab facility for his broken ankle as the therapists really worked hard with him. The nursing staff was very professional and caring for all the residents. It is not an easy job. Plus there was always an effort to keep the facility clean by hard working staff. I want to personally thank Marcee Anderson from Pioneer Health for first recommending this facility and for always being available if I had questions.
Fantastic experience: Thomas and Emma GREAT WORKERS AND GREAT PEOPLE, please keep them around they greet people with respect and keep place clean thank you Emma and Thomas thank you!!
Negative experience: I was generous giving them 2 stars . I was ignored by the staff. Especially the nurses. When you did need help, say to the bathroom or getting your medication they were almost uncaring and rude. Like you were bothering them. The food was always cold and tasteless and scimpy. Tonight I was served burnt pizza, a handful of iceberg lettuce and a cup of Kool-Aid. I'm calling the nurse for my evening meds. She might get back to me in an hour.
Fantastic experience: I was in another facility prior to admitting here, the previous facility did not have the gentle care that Lakeside Manor has. From therapy to basic nursing care you can tell the staff is well trained. You can tell from the staff that this is more than just a paycheck to them and give compassionate care. Its good to have good people that care.
Positive experience: Overall I have had a good experience at Lakeside Manor nursing and rehab center. The workers are friendly and offer assistance if you need it. Nurses are caring and respectful of you. Therapy has been good and very helpful.
Fantastic experience: I recently visited a family member & was greeted by Thomas B., who was incredibly hospitable and kind. He made sure I felt welcomed and was friendly while showing genuine care for the residents. I felt reassured that my family member is in good hands. I highly recommend Lakeside Manor for its welcoming environment and compassionate staff!
Fantastic experience: I love the receptionist, Thomas I will refer family and friends to come there. I'm always very observant and this guy always have a positive attitude and a great smile on his face. He's good in activities and interact with the visitors as well as the clients. He's a team player and this company should be happy to have a person like him working for them!!! The most impactful thing that really stood out to me was when my brother-in-law was dying, he gave me a hug while letting me cry on his shoulders and was saying some encouraging words to me when I was at my lowest. I'll forever cherish that moment having genuine people like Thomas is definitely needed more in work places cause without him i don’t know how the rest of my day would’ve ended.
Fantastic experience: The facility is nice to have a loved one the staff is great. Thomas is awesome receptionist very valuable employee, he do great things in life enrichment helping the residents he loves his job.
Fantastic experience: When we go in to visit Grandma on Sundays there's always a friendly face and smile greeting you right at the door! Thomas is an awesome front desk person and makes the facility feel very warm and inviting. The lady and gentleman at the nurses station are also always smiling and making you feel welcome. My grandmother says the care is sufficient and they keep her comfortable. All in all good experience.
Fantastic experience: Teri and the staff are fantastic!
Negative experience: My husband arrived 6pm for rehab on Friday. He was not offered anything to eat and no water even when I asked since he had not eaten since noon at Henry Ford Detroit. During the night he had a BM in bedpan. Aide came in, said she will get it later. It sat on the night stand 3 hours. Nobody answers the phone and a resident in a wheelchair opened the security door because no one was there at 9:15 am. Sunday morning, his breakfast never came. At 10am I saw it sitting on nurse's desk even when I asked several times about it. He was in wheelchair in hall across from nurse's station waiting for lunch. He sat next to the food cabinet. We watched them deliver every tray and even used his table to deliver 2 at a time. They closed up cabinet and did not give him one. Aide went to kitchen and brought back one. The ham was so over cooked and dry as well as the half potato that looked like it was sitting out for hours. I asked for a knife to cut the food. Aide reached into cabinet where a used tray was and gave me a knife from there. I saw the tray like that when I helped a resident put her dirty tray back. When he did not get his food once, I was told that the residents needed their food. What was my husband considered? Call light was on and never answered. The toilet in his room was plugged up and the housekeeper dressed in hazmat cleaned it out. My husband was transferred to a much better facility on Monday afternoon. But after all my complaints to the advocate and the director who apologized, the staff was decent and nice but the care here is very substandard. I do not recommend this place. It should be shut down and I feel sorry for the residents who cannot leave.
Fantastic experience: I visit today so nice place Very professional staff
Fantastic experience: Very professional staff
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility, Very professional staff, First class care, Wonderful place, The whole are is so good.
Fantastic experience: Best Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
Fantastic experience: Very professional staff here, they are have strong profession knowledge about treatment, when i stay here, i think i was my home, they are very much responsible for their work
Fantastic experience: I had an exceptional experience at the Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The staff was highly professional, caring, and attentive to my needs. The facility was clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. The quality of care provided was outstanding, and the rehabilitation services were top-notch. I highly recommend this center for its excellent service and compassionate approach to nursing and rehabilitation. A truly 5-star experience! Very professional staff
Fantastic experience: It is a wonderful place. I like their facility. Strongly recommended!
Fantastic experience: staff gives good service
Fantastic experience: Very comfortable and welcoming stuff first class area
Fantastic experience: Good Place and careful
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility
Fantastic experience: Wonderful Place, and good place, please visited this place.
Fantastic experience: Professional and great staff
Fantastic experience: my grandmother was recently discharged from lakeside manor, the experience was great overall from beginning to end, staff was very helpful and very friendly… the new management is great and are doing amazing!!! felt comfortable and very welcoming
Negative experience: Don’t send your family here! Extreme medical malpractice, has been investigated, and has many allegations against them. If I could give negative stars I would. Literally dropped my uncle and broke his shoulder then didn’t document it or get him medical attention. He later died due to these injuries.
Negative experience: Don’t go to this place I just went to the hospital to get a fully catheter cause no one was helping me with my bladder retention there, came back all staff saying I don’t meet their care took my room away and sent me back to the hospital to look for new rehab. I loved the OT/PT bumbed how they let me go as I was just here a few days and only 21 years old trying to get stronger. Staffs are disrespectful besides OT/PT lucky 1 star was a option
Fantastic experience: I recently was discharged after spending 3 months in here for rehab after a stroke. It's very very clean, the staff was wonderful, meds passed on time. The therapy team was amazing and never let me skip a day. The older reviews were under old management. The only downfall of this place was the food. But all you have to do is ask for something different to eat if you don't like what they serve. I had people knowing my name that I hadn't met before. If I ever have to go to a rehab facility it will definitely be Lakeside Manor. I actually miss some of the staff and made a few good friends there.
Fantastic experience: Has new management and they are an amazing team of people who are offering the best possible care to residents. Would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place for a family member.
Fantastic experience: My husband was there for 3 months, did great, was able to return home. A little more rehab at home to readjust. The nurses were friendly and patient with him as well as with me when I called to get updates on him. Great place.
Fantastic experience: I have personal experience with the new management and they are doing a fantastic job. Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: My mother has been here for a few weeks and could not be happier. They are under new management and are super friendly. If I could give 10 stars I would!! So happy to have found this place and Mom is going great with rehab and loves being there. Thank you!!!
Fantastic experience: I just want to say that Lakeside Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Llc is a God sent to me and my family. The nurses, aides, chef and the therapy people who are working with me are great… Thankyou and God Bless….
Fantastic experience: I love the building and I like how how everything is in shape. When I started residing here it was kind of boring but new management came and everything started improving. The nurses and CNAs are are very kind and helpful. Activities are always keeping you busy with games and movies so it's very wonderful here. The staff is very kind to you and will help you when you need it. Dietary will accommodate to what you would like to eat, it's very good.
Fantastic experience: My husband was there for 3 months, did great, was able to return home. A little more rehab at home to readjust. The nurses were friendly and patient with him as well as with me when I called to get updates on him. Great place.
Negative experience: The worst! My loved one almost died from dehydration. The only thing good about this place are the speech and physical therapists Some of the nurses were nice but most weren’t The administrative staff doesn’t even return your calls Do not send anyone you love here They are so short staff and don’t even let you visit If you love your family and want them to live don’t go here. It is the absolute worst. They should be closed down. Natalie the administrator is also the worst. They must be really desperate to hire someone like that. She doesn’t know what she’s doing nor does she know how to talk to people. If I can give this place no stars I would. Please please don’t send anyone you care about to this awful place
Negative experience: This place is terrible. I have tried to contact someone from their rehab staff FOUR times over the past two weeks regarding a shared patient, and I cannot even leave a message. They answer the phone, and then put me on hold for upwards of 40 minutes, then answer and then ask me to continue holding!!! I would seriously reconsider sending your loved one here. My patient who is now transferred home, has reported to me how terrible the care is and I can now see first hand. If someone can't even get ahold of another person for continuity of care, I can't imagine what the actual, physical care is like here. Yikes. Run.
Negative experience: Please dont ever bring your love ones here they have the worst staff i ever seen in my life
Negative experience: My brother was there, broke his collar bone during his stay and it was not diagnosed properly until his doctor sent him to the ER. He missed doctor's appointments, was ignored and when he finally left belongings were stolen. It's an awful place. I would never send anyone there ever again.
Negative experience: I would not recommend Lakeside Manor to anyone! My Aunt was there and the food was always cold, she sat in a soiled diaper up to 4 to 5 hours at times. The phones never worked correctly and there is little to no security. I was able to walk in and go directly to her room without being checked in or asked about covid-19 symptoms. After a few weeks of my Aunt being neglected and losing 15 lbs. I had her moved to another facility where she is happy, gaining weight back, and being attended to regularly and not sitting in soiled diapers constantly. Please never admit someone you love to this facility. I wouldn't give this place even one star but I had to or it wouldn't post.
Negative experience: The owner of the facility cares only about money, he threatens residents, the staff neglects patients and if they dare contact authorities they are subject to retaliation. Call buttons are not given to patients and they ignore pleas for help and medication. The owner needs to be investigated.
Fantastic experience: My mom was recently discharged from Lakeside and I was very happy with her care. My mom enjoyed the activities they had there and how friendly the staff was. Therapy was good and really helped mom get stronger. Ryan, the DON made sure my mom received great care. Samantha, the social worker, made sure my mom went home with a wheel chair and home care. Bring your loved ones here!
Negative experience: Do not send your loved ones here. My mom had to go here after hip surgery because the other 2 facilities we would have chose over this one had no beds available. It is no surprise why Lakeside manor has beds, they do not properly take care of your loved ones. My mom's antibiotics were late daily and her dressing on her wound was not changed in a timely manor. When it was time to go home and help facilitate her home health care, the Social worker, Samantha, did not do her job and facilitate this process. She would not make the proper phones class to doctors and home health facilities to get all the paperwork, prescriptions and care in order for my mom to be released. Something that should have taken a couple of days took a week and my mom had to make all her calls herself to see that things were set up for her at home. The place is clean, the food is horrible and the care is very under par. I would never recommend this place. She too also hardly saw a doctor while she was here and he did not get her scripts in order before she left, again she had to do that on her own.
Negative experience: don't leave a loved one here, unless you don't mind them refusing to get an ambulance for an EMERGENCY. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.
Fantastic experience: I have been in and out of area nursing homes for the past three years. Lakeside Manor is without question the best facility I've experienced. In an industry challenged to secure quality staff, Lakeside Manor has an array of very capable and qualified people. It is a well-run and clean operation which is so difficult to find in this market place. The meals and physical therapy are well beyond my highest expectations. All in all, it is great to call Lakeside Manor my home both now and for the future. I'm not only residing here, I'm actually enjoying myself. Rick Phillips
Fantastic experience: I was sent here for my rehabilitation orientation. The place is beautiful with friendly and hardworking staff. Nursing, activities, and overall facility was magnificent and I would rate this a 5/5.
Positive experience: __*Update:*__ New DON and Administrator have started, and things are getting better quickly. Hope things keep going in that direction. Still short staffed at times, but don't think you will find a nursing center that isn't. I do what I can to help with my wife's care when I'm there to free staff up for others. Today's average wait time once you push the call light is really good, only a hour and a half wait. If that's is what your family member needs then it's a great place to come.
Fantastic experience: The staff here are always easily accessible and kind. I always leave satisfied and happy with the care being provided here.
Positive experience: good ppl working there but..... idk.... better training or pay for the employees or something. follow up and getting ready for discharge to my apt was not the best... shout out to kim, michelle, arussa, chouna and the ones that cared to go the extra mile with/for me... thanks!
Negative experience: Beautiful place beautiful building everybody their kind of tries but there's a lot of neglect so if you have a loved one that you're going to put in this place you have to go constantly you have to know the care for your loved one you have to constantly check with them to make sure they're doing it they brought my loved one in and didn't change her dressing for 3 days they also wouldn't pay for the drugs that my loved one needed so they put on oral medication which failed she was there for three weeks had to take her back to emergency where she was readmitted for another week to get on the proper medications was not impressed with the service the food was a 4 out of 10 the rehab staff excellent the nursing staff week seem to be overburdened the CNA staff terrible the doctors try very hard but without a good nursing staff to complete the orders it makes no difference nobody could give you an immediate answer the transportation for your loved one to doctors was terrible took 5 hours for one doctor visit 20 minutes away so I would keep looking
Positive experience: good ppl working there but..... idk.... better training or pay for the employees or something. follow up and getting ready for discharge to my apt was not the best... shout out to kim, michelle, arussa, chouna and the ones that cared to go the extra mile with/for me... thanks!
Negative experience: On the positive side I like therapy. The place is clean and the DON is handsome. Dominique is caring and helpful, she's also professional. Nurses Brandy and Ronald are both helpful. But on the negative side it's under staff so it takes waaaaay too long for anyone to respond to your call light. Sometimes even when staff is on the floor and not in the middle of doing anything, they'll still take their time. Food is poorly served, it's either very bland or salty. Every now and then the food tastes good. The kitchen staff does not listen to what you want and follows the ticket so you have to be specific. And sometimes the people will forget to give you what you ask for.
Negative experience: Where do I start? What. A. Joke. Director of nursing- full of himself Administrator- know. It. All. Nurses- LAZY. Jamie are is a work horse. Great job Jamie I’m there a lot during the day.. I need to be or my dad won’t get care! Now let me point out the hard WORKERS! Frank in the kitchen is so caring. Great man. Biller- Eman- very nice Activity lady- Michelle- doesn’t just do activities... serves in the dining room... puts my dads socks on.. etc... THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Connie- very understanding with my father. No one beats her. It’s so sad such just a beautiful place on the outside but ran by bullies. OH! I was up there on Tuesday. The front lobby had 2 employees upset about not getting paid on pay day? I pray I heard Her wrong. What a disgrace. Kim- time to get out of your room and be RESPECTFUL.
Fantastic experience: I was sent here for my rehabilitation orientation. The place is beautiful with friendly and hardworking staff. Nursing, activities, and overall facility was magnificent and I would rate this a 5/5.
Negative experience: I was a former patient there. Every morning this beautiful sweet girl named Aiile from the kitchen would come in your room and ask you how your morning was going and tell you what was for lunch and dinner. When you were in the dining room she would give you your drink, give you a hug and you knew she cared about you. Then we heard she was fired for no reason. They need to get her back I know they’re a lot of people that loved her and miss her. She made the day, with an otherwise depressing time.
Negative experience: They neglect patients causing them to have to go to the emergency room and when that happens they call off a private line so they can not be on them. And when my grandma only went there for rehabilitation she now has bedsores and and extremely someone needs do something about this place that abuses old people
Negative experience: What a shame! The facility looks like 5 stars. However looks are deceiving. My mom needed some rehabilitation after a short hospitalization. So we picked Lakeside Manor based on location, reviews and frankly the pics. I'll give any facility 24 to 48 hours to get up to speed. But 4 days later no call lights were being answered. Not that it wasn't timely , we are talkin not answered I was told it was new owners in last 4 weeks, new management, staff doesn't show up, etc . Literally so many excuses. My mom felt unsafe. I got her out of there. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. The Administration and nurse manager were nice and tried to remedy the problems but confessed they had no solutions. The very best staff member who always worked, helped and showed up was in housekeeping. I suggested to the Admin she'd be best served having that woman be a CNA or nurse. The owner clearly thinks spending a boat load of money on a facility is important . It's not it's the people and care. Hire the best staff you can and pay them to stay. Otherwise nice house but no one home . Shameful.
Positive experience: The physical and occupational rehab and its team were outstanding!! Christina was so thoughtful and knowledgeable. Thanks to Anton for all his patience and genuine concern for my grandfather!
Fantastic experience: My uncle was admitted to this facility. I was so impressed with how nice and helpful everyone was! Would reccomend to anyone!
Negative experience: Severly understaffed on weekends .. Nurse manager missed mom's trach appt after 2 text and going to office day before. Assured me was taken care of ! Have to be there everyday to make sure loved one changed. One nurse abused mom . New Administrator hope she makes a difference !
Negative experience: My husband was admitted to this facility after a brain bleed injury. His needs were very basic. They included daily medication and not getting up on his own to use the restrooms. The first evening his bell did not get answered and he was up on his own. His air conditioner was unplugged and the TV (his only form of entertainment) was not working. I was assured by administration that if I left him there, all of these things would be handled. His nurse care was very good, especially Christina. His physical therapist was also very good and caring. It did not take long to realize that the problem stemmed from an administrative point, not from the actual help. In one instance his personal information (including social security number) was left out on a table in his room. When questioned, I was told that my husband had given the ok on that. This is not true, nor should he have been able to be the one to give the ok, given that he was two weeks out of a brain injury. When we finally decided that it was time for him to come home, the therapists and nurses prepped for him to go, however the night before, I was told by Cindy that I was not able to take him out. (We had voluntarily had him admitted for extra support). The next morning when I arrived and asked if he was ready and was told no by Tracey. She also said that if I proceeded to take him out myself, she would not be giving me the discharge papers from the hospital or his necessary medications. Although the family doctor had been contacted and an appointment had been set, they told me that paperwork would not be available for 30 days! I asked to speak with the house doctor as I had not spoken to him for a few days (over the weekend) and was told that he would contact me, that I could not contact him, nor would she give me his contact info. I looked him up and contacted him on my own. The doctor knew NOTHING about any of this, and willingly discharged him with all his necessary medications. I told Tracey that I did not have the hospital paperwork and was told that nowhere in her manual did it state that she had to give those papers to me. When I asked to speak to the owner or someone higher up, she told me that the owner was in Europe and that there was no one else to talk to. I ended up leaving with my husband with the rehab paperwork, but not the hospital discharge papers that he arrived with (that had all follow up doctor appointments/orders/etc. on them. ) The only reason that I was able to make my husbands appointments was because of the house doctor ( Dr. Mark Stephen). Today was the first neurology appointment and was asked for information that I could not supply. I was informed that all that info was on the discharge papers that I should definitely have. I ALSO found out that my husband was still taking medication that he should have been weaned off of WEEKS ago, but was still taking full doses of. These directions were also part of the discharge and on the paperwork that I STILL DO NOT HAVE. Although the nurses and therapists are great, I strongly do not recommend bringing your loved ones to this facility due to the administrative point of view. Nurses are short staffed and overworked (hence why they could not get to my husband when needed). The run around and problems that have occurred do to poor administration behavior is totally unacceptable and not worth it at all. I give the full star to the nurses and therapists.
Negative experience: So far my father in law has been there 2 weeks and not one person has said how's he doing or about the bill and if the insurance is paying for this stay, untill we went to the head nurse and asked for a meeting where the head of the center fell asleep as we were talking to them about what is going on. Today we found my father in-law in his room with a hoodie on no pants and in a wheelchair by himself and they told us never to leave him alone in his chair unless we wheel him up to the front desk but its ok for them to do it. We our not a happy family watching them here they seem to be way understaff and not very informative to the family. food comes at all different times and my father in law can not feed himself so the just leave the tray unless his wife is there to feed him. Sure hope things get better around there before something bad happens to my father in law.
Negative experience: Facility is understaffed. Took our Dad out of there. Lights go unanswered.
Negative experience: Call lights are never answered and nurses seem to act as if they are bothered all the time
Negative experience: Horrible place just took my mother in law out of there. No staff not friendly noboby seems to know whats going on ever with anything. Mother in law slept through lunch and wouldn't give her any food. Said you missed it so youll have to wait for dinner we had to go there and bring her food. They weren't giving her meds she was supposed to get and someone was taking her nicotine patches saying she was getting them and just taking them. Ran a blood test to see if she was getting her meds and nicotine all results came back negative . Dont take your loved ones here unless you dont care what happens to them. Shame on you lakeside manor how can you have staff that treats your guests this way taking advantage of their situation.
Negative experience: Cheryl Lyons is in this facility. She has been a nurse for 33+ years. She raised four children without child support. She worked two jobs and home schooled all four children. Her loyalty produced loyalty. Her son, Micheal Cunningham Jr., took care of her from the age of 19 until 29. His brother, Isaiah Cunningham, of East Pointe, Michigan, is over her care now. He made a good decision by picking this facility. Their sister, Tia, helps as well. The only problem we have with this facility is we asked the nursing staff if they could forward a message to the doctor about possible hyperbaric chamber treatment in downtown Detroit Medical Center. Cheryl Lyons lost her son and her husband in one week. Pastor Michelle Butler Ferguson came by to the house in support that many years ago. My mom's church is Word of Faith International Christian Center, Nine Mile Evergreen, Southfield, Michigan. The church has kept a grudge against Micheal Cunningham Jr. because of his internet activity from a blog that has now been taken down [Truth or Rumor Keith A. Butler/Facebook Peculiar Cunningham Micheal Cares]. The church has not come to see their faithful tithe paying member, Cheryl Lyons. Her son, Micheal Jr., was a member there for 29 years.
Negative experience: Horrible place ! Understaffed and they have no idea what they are doing there , they leave the room filthy ! We took our grandma out of there fast! We walked in one day to see her only in a T-shirt and nothing else and anytime you ask a staff (if u can find a staff anywhere ) a question they only reply “I don’t know” . Horrible horrible place ! Do not take your loved ones there !
Negative experience: I dont know how this place is still operating! This facility is horrible and i feel Very bad for the patients. My aunt was in one of the furthest rooms from nursing station and the back door kept opening because the lock didnt latch right, night and day... talk about patient safety. Lets also mention that agency nurses work there more than their own employees and even tho they hide it, its obvious they are understaffed. Lots of med errors noted and although there are a few nurses who care for patiemt well being i have found out they were let go because the administrator could not handle or was intimidated by them standing up for patiemt safety. Also heard the DON and ADON fought for better conditions and they were walked out too. Owner needs to step and sort his administration out or this place going to get another Immediate jeopardy (IJ).
Negative experience: The staff who takes care of your family members, they all lie to you, they tell you what you want here, not enough staff to take care of patients, the one nurse's station is always empty, everybody hangout at the other one. Some of nursing assistant have attitudes towards family members when they are asked about their family member, I do not recommend this place at all.
Negative experience: I feel that my dad is in PRISON not in a rehab center. I have to go check on him twice a day to make sure he's ok.. Not enough staff to do anything. Staff are careless and not friendly at all. My dad is being treated as an object not a human.
Positive experience: My experience with Lakeside Manor is very good on all the people that have taking care of me and many many different ways have treated me very well and I am getting better and I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs the services that it provides
