James Square Health & Rehab: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I would like to say that james square had been a God sent ,my mom passed away and I needed t to place my dad in a safe to place quick and all I can say that they took the stress away from me to care for my dad at a difficult time for me and my family..it's clean ,staff is so friendly, caring for the entire family. .
Fantastic experience: Truthfully, I think that these reviews are bad because people are more apt to take to this in order to complain. My grandma was in about 7 different nursing homes for years- Van Duyn, Iroquois, Loretto, The Crossings, you name it- and this one does not even compare. The care is exceptional in comparison in both the palliative care and rehabilitation buildings. My grandfather who is a patient there even loves being there instead of at home, and that says a lot. I am astounded at the natural friendliness and helpfulness of the nurses. They are not the fake type that my family is used to that only care kindly for the patient when you are around. The administration is just the same. James Square has been fantastic- thank you to everybody there!
Positive experience: My Aunt Margaret is doing better after her bed sore. I visit a couple times a week. There are some great people that work on the C floor. Nurse Sondra is the most awesome person. A few Aides that have been great are Kimberly and Tammy. I'm usually there after 3pm. I know sometimes the aides get busy and may not be available but I think they do try. If I have a problem I will get in contact with Asia, Nurse Mgr who has helped me in the past. I try to keep on top of my Aunt's care who will be 105 yrs young this December. I want to give a shout out to Tammy who handles the activities and always a big help with my Aunt's parties. She is wonderful. Also Alicia in billing who has helped me so much. She is a great asset to Bishop.
Negative experience: This place is dirty . Went to visit my mother in law smelled like urine. All I could see was staff sitting around. He light was on for two hours and No one came. She was hooked up to iv so had to go to the bathroom more often . She wet herself they refused to take her out her in an adult diaper, there for rehab. Absolutely disgusting
Negative experience: Just such a awful environment and care
Negative experience: my dad was there for 1 year. He was treated well when we were around , but the facility is understaffed and the care is poor. A few of the aids were caring, the night crew was not attentive. The facility was old , but renovations were being worked on. This is not a place I would recommend for anyone. We had no choice, it was the only place that had a bed available for my dad when he was ready for long term care. The food is horrific !
Negative experience: I don't like the staff on 4 South they treat my mom wrong
Fantastic experience: I came from private practice to Long Term Care & Short Term Rehab In order to spend more needed time with my patients. For the past 5 years I have worked as the Nurse Practitioner, (in collaboration with our Medical Director, Dr. Jeanne Bishop). These have been the most fulfilling years of my career. James Square has become a family to me and I will be here giving my patients, their families and my coworkers the very best of me until I retire!
Negative experience: The food at this place sucks. and, simply do not care about ya. there just in it for a simple paycheck. go elsewhere please.
Negative experience: Bishop Rehabilitation, has a lot of work ahead but hopefully things will improve. But that ADON is no good..she is part of the problems there. Who says that the things that took place there were "not that bad". Sorry but neglecting residents is bad!!
Fantastic experience: Best place for Rehab! The Therapy department worked with us gaining good results for quick discharge. Nursing staff were kind and compassionate. Would definitely recommend to others
Fantastic experience: Ive heard great things about James Square
Fantastic experience: Great people to work with!
Fantastic experience: James Square has tremendous services and caring staff. I recently had a tour of both the short term rehab and long term care areas by Marvine who did an excellent job and so well liked by everyone.
Fantastic experience: I am proud to be apart of the James Square family! I am so impressed by the care & service provided here. And the compassion shown to the Residents and their Families is AMAZING!!! The staff truly go over and beyond to care for their Residents like their own family.
Negative experience: The nurses here are non attentive, dont pay attention to patients. my grandmothers been here for about a year now, one of the nurses has been her nurse almost the entire time, today after over one year she comes into the room questioning who i was why i was their, and said she has never seen anyone visiting my grandmother when i visit atleast once a week. she thought i was making my grandmother upset and making her cry. my grandmother was crying her eyes about the care and service she receives. i will be moving my grandmother to a better facility. especially since they where just raided by law enforcement
Negative experience: Besed on Family /personal experience James Square is the last place you should take any of your family. Raided by the States' Attorney's Office, Poor Rating upon Health Inspection by the NYS Department of Health, Senior Living Division, etc
Negative experience: I only gave one star so you could see this These People should be ashamed of the way they care for patients My grandmother was so sick with several infections when she went to the hospital and 8 days later she passed away. she passed at 5:21 am i went to the Facility to collect her belongings that afternoon only to find the completely packed her room and another resident was in there several of her things were missing including her wedding band which they had cut off her finger because of swelling after several phone calls and trips up there i have still been able to recover these items and no one returns calls it is now 2 months later and they still refuse to answer my calls. get this they are still getting money from insurance to pay for a room she has not used and her telephone is still on being billed to me because she is no longer a resident they should shut this place down. the people and administration dont care about anything but money. if there is no other alternative please watch carefully how your loved one is being treated
Positive experience: My Dad who is 91 years old has been at JS since mid July. We all love it there!!! Especially him. The staff is very polite and friendly, and when my Dad pushes the button for help, they come immediately. We are really pleased with the level of care he is getting there so far. He is a very easy patient. Doesn't have bad healthy issues and his mind is still sharp as a tack. So they all love him there which really helps.
Negative experience: My mom was there for 4 years and u could do was send her to the hp 2 a mo i wouldnt send my dog tthetherether
Negative experience: This is possibly one of the worst facilities for seniors the need of assistance! The facility itself is disgusting, in the summer it's a sauna, and in the winter it's like being in Antarctica. The food is horrific, I have seen pet food that looks better than what they serve the clients/patients. None of them have a clue what's going on, they all want to pass the buck onto the next person, most recently my mother was sent there because she needs to regain her strength back to go home, because of their neglect they forgot to give her Lasix for several days and she went into heart failure, they called me on Monday morning to tell me they were rushing her by ambulance to the hospital, the woman who I spoke with that morning, also called me later in the afternoon at 4 PM, not having a clue who she was even talking about, telling me she like to set up an appointment with me my mother and yourself to discuss my mothers therapy/rehab on getting her home soon. She had no clue that you just sent my mother to the emergency room several hours earlier, the icing on the cake was 12 hours after my mother was sent by ambulance to the hospital, I went to the facility to retrieve her belongings, not a single person knew that my mother had been discharged, I went into her room there was a breakfast tray, lunch tray, and of course a dinner tray. Now you need to tell me that after three meals, and not seeing her for an entire day nobody had an idea that you possibly was gone or maybe she was hurt somewhere in the facility. Trust me stay as far away from that place as you can if you really care about your loved one!
