PVHMC Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation - Covina

Welcome to the Charles M. Magistro Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center, home to PVHMC’s Rehabilitation Services Department. Established 1954, by its namesake, Charles Magistro, PT, a pioneering physical therapist and innovative icon in the profession who led the development and expansion of the department and served as its director for 35 years.

Today, we are located on the first floor of the Robert and Beverly Lewis Outpatient Pavilion at PVHMC. In addition to our Pomona clinic, we offer outpatient rehabilitation services 5-6 days a week at our clinics in Claremont, Chino Hills, Covina, and La Verne and at our Milestones Center for Child Development in Claremont. We also provide inpatient services at PVHMC seven days a week. All of our facilities are accredited by The Joint Commission and are Medicare and Medi-Cal certified. We accept most insurance plans and require a physician referral for treatment.

We employ over 60 licensed therapists, including a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). Many others hold board certified credentials from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) naming them as clinical specialists in the fields of Orthopedics (OCS), Neurology (NCS), Geriatrics (GCS), and Pediatrics (PCS). Our staff is committed to continuing education. In fact, many serve as clinical instructors and frequently speak to athletic teams, fitness, clubs, universities and other organizations.

Our services range from physical therapy to occupational and speech therapy, to cardiovascular and pulmonary rehab – all with customized treatment plans to meet the exact needs of the patient. The scope and specialization of our services provide diagnostic specific therapy programs that improve quality and efficiency. Utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines, our seventeen specialized “Get Well” programs are led by therapists with advanced certification. Our three “Stay Well” programs are designed to pick up where regular treatments leave off, giving patients a cash-pay alternative for aftercare.
