“I feel like I owe so much to New Bridge. I feel like I owe years of sobriety for my children to New Bridge, I owe years of sanity for myself to the parent group at New Bridge, I feel like I have a support system that, if things ever do go back downhill, New Bridge would be the first phone call I would make.”
New Bridge Foundation: Reviews
Negative experience: Good program but has some clients who seem to be institutionalized from prison and I personally felt attacked by such individuals. If you like confrontations and being called a punk, pussy or snitch by potentially violent individuals and be forced to protect yourself, then this may be the program for you. I left AMA today because of such encounters. On defense is no way to get sober.
Dear CJ,
We are so sorry to hear that you found your stay at New Bridge Foundation disappointing. We do strive to provide quality treatment and would be happy to discuss your concerns if you give us a call.

Yay..STEPS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE..FYI..THANK YOU NEW BRIDGE COUNSELOR WAS MARIAH
Ann,
We are so happy to hear that you have been able to achieve so many years of recovery.
Thanks for your favorable review of our program and congratulations on your sobriety.
The New Bridge Foundation Staff.
Fantastic experience: New Bridge offers an exceptionally talented team of, staff members, addiction specialist, and clinician's who've helped me address my co-occurring substances and mental health issues. The New Bridge environment (residential treatment facility, & extended satellite sober living environment), are safe and clean, and provide the type of space where I was able to successfully focus on, addiction & mental health curriculums, group therapy, as well as personalized "one-on-one" therapy/counseling sessions. Additionally, the treatment facility environment is supportive of "peer-to-peer" feed back & coping skills, "focus" and "affirmation tools".., all (to which I found) have great value in early recovery...! What I enjoyed most about New Bridge is the dignified and professional way each staff member treated me, and treated me as valued (from the newest staff member, to the kitchen staff, to nurse staff, maintenance staff, the on-site doctors, to group staff, the clinical coordinator staff, the assistant director, up to the director). These staff members, all, display a "real human" level of authenticity and care...! I'm truly happy that I chose New Bridge..!!! I will offer this thought to anyone who is wondering if this is the right place, or not..., "if you have a true and real desire to gain recovery, everything you will need to assist you, to help you focus, guide & support you in the process of recovery.., can be found at New Bridge..!!!" I highly recommend this amazing treatment facility, and hope you do not waste another second deciding on when to start your "road to recovery" at New Bridge - because it starts the moment you say "Yes"..!!! "Thank You New Bridge...!!!" Mike D. 19 Months, 20 Days Sober, and counting..... :) (from date of post)
Dear Michael,
We are so glad to hear that you felt that New Bridge Foundation was able to assist you in achieving sobriety and recovery. A big congratulation on 19 months and 20 days sober. That is quite the accomplishment.
Warmly,
NBF staff
Fantastic experience: Would recommend to anyone who has the desire to change their life. Tools that will last me a lifetime and helped me learn to take accountability. Perfection isn’t possible when dealing with a lot of people who are sick, but they do a darn good job. I felt important. I felt that they always had my best interest at heart. Special shout out to all of the counselors and milieu staff who work their butts off!
Thank you, Katie, for your kind words. We are so glad that you felt the program was helpful. Congratulations on your sobriety.

Negative experience: Horrible. The intake was good but everything after was awful. Shabby, dirty, unpleasant staff, talking to residents I learned that disciplinary action is commonplace and it's 100% 12 step so not at all true that they support alternatives like Recovery Dharma. I was sold something very different from what I found. I have been in other rehabs. This one is expensive but feels like a county jail alternative. He'll no.
Sarah, we are sorry that you found your stay at New Bridge Foundation disappointing. We do strive to provide quality treatment and would be happy to discuss your concerns if you give us a call.

Positive experience: I gave it a 4 out of 5 because this rehab is great, with the exception of the director Emily. Ms. Kata and Ms. Linda were fantastic, as were many other faculty. It’s a great place to be confined without drugs, and the counselors like Mr. Tom and Ms. Rachel spoke volumes to me. Great place especially for active duty military and veterans! My only problem was with Emily the director at the time who will did anything and everything to keep one at the rehab. I think she just wanted the insurance money. Eventually, I left on my own accord because very little counseling is offered. One on one sessions were rare and by the end of my stay, I left because we were just watching movies during group sessions the whole time. All in all, worth the stay but they will be time where people like Emily will test your patience. She may be gone, so hopefully there’s someone new. Celebrating two years sober!!! Thank you Helios!
Thank you for your positive feedback about our program and what you felt was helpful to you. Emily (or we) would be more than happy to discuss what concerned you if you give us a call. Congratulations on celebrating 2 years sober.

Negative experience: I was looking specifically for a place that had alternatives to a 12-step program. I was assured that there were many other options and that "12-step was only 10%" of what was offered. My first night there I was required to go to a 12-step meeting. At no time was there another option offered. I did not know at the time but have learned since that there are Dharma Recovery meetings online almost every hour and could have been offered instead.
Wendy, we are sorry to hear that you found treatment at New Bridge Foundation disappointing. We do offer 12-step meetings as well as 12-step alternatives. We apologize that you felt there we no 12-step alternatives available to you.

Fantastic experience: New Bridge Foundation saved my life. I don't like sounding like most, but there's no other words. My experience was amazing. I was finally ready to be helped. New bridge came thru my counselor let's call him Dan he came thru with flying colors. We dug in on issues that were not comfortable but needed to be addressed. If you really want to create a foundation to stay sober New Bridge was able to give the foundation to rebuild a new life. I've been clean since I left, no other treatment had ever given me that freedom. Trust this if nothing else, New Bridge helped me, a burned out addict for 20+ years. I was finally ready and New Bridge came thru. I will never forget what they did for me. Thank you! I love all of you. DK, JB, BC, JK, K, K, J, and nurses you saved my life. I will never forget any of you.
Fantastic experience: Thank you Newbridge for all that you've done and you do. I was only in the day program which frankly to me was like a spiritual summer camp. I know alcoholism is something I'm going to have to deal with my entire life, sometimes I'm sober and sometimes I'm not but, Newbridge has made it possible for me to deal with my disease and has given me so many tools to come back to when I hit rough roads. Without Newbridge I can honestly say I wouldn't be alive today. Thanks for all of the wisdom and peace to help me keep living. - Kami P. | Yelp Review

Negative experience: New Bridge is Scientology based. A cult environment. Very abusive. Do not send any loved ones here.
Negative experience: Helios- Location is tough- lots of college students and Cal games around so it's loud and not much nature. It's tough to find a place outside where people aren't smoking...Yes, most people in recovery smoke cigarettes, but there isn't much outdoor space, and one tiny smoke free patio. LGB "friendly" but maybe not T or Q+ friendly unless you're fairly heteronormative binary. Super nice people and I think they're trying, which is more than many places can claim. For example, staff wrote "THEY/THEM" next to my name on the white board. Unfortunately, like most health care facilities, the staff is simply unprepared/undertrained for what an inclusive environment looks and acts like. The night I arrived, I was misgendered about 6 times, which I'm used to out in the real world, but there wasn't really a safe space held for someone like me. I decided to leave the following day when Mrs. Doubtfire was chosen as the movie to watch to replace one of the recovery meetings. Don't get me wrong, I love Robin Williams, it was just a slap-in-the-face ironic coincidence that made me laugh all the way to the room to pack up my bags. I hope that there is a recovery center one day which is already past the 101 level of Trans-non-binary inclusivity and can provide a meaningfully safe space for folks who are the "others" on the outside, especially since queer/trans folks continue to lead in the stats for the most at risk population in terms of addiction, homelessness, poverty, incarcerated, etc. Side note- new(ish) director Emily spoke with my referral therapist at Kaiser telling them that I left because I missed my family- not for the actual reasons that I gave her and her colleagues in my exit interview. Maybe to save the reputation of being LGBT friendly? Just to recap- this place is friendly and has kind staff and clients in general. Helios has an LGBT specific meeting in the program once per week, but they have a heck of a lot of work to do before I would dream of categorizing it as LGBT friendly. I would more appropriately describe it as, "does not actively appear to hate queers."
Fantastic experience: I went here in 2016, and although I had a few relapses after, it definitely stuck with me. Amazing place, I remember a guy named Jon he really stuck out to me. He really tried to keep checking in with me after I stopped showing up for the after care groups. This place definitely doesn’t teach Scientology like some reviews said, and was suboxone/Methadone friendly when I was there. Great program
Negative experience: This clinic does not support suboxone
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing and almost certainly saved my life. Unlike one review that I read, the staff is NOT fake. They are genuine, caring people who listened to me when I was struggling, talked me through my problems, and gave me the tools to stay clean to this day. I can almost guarantee that the people posting negative reviews here are those who left the program in order to go and continue to use, and they used the staff being ‘fake’ or some other label in order to justify their actions. Also, I cannot at all understand where the individual saying that they do not assist with mental health issues is coming from; the classes were not at all like he described, and they provide ample time for you to have one-on-one sessions with a counselor. I also cannot understand why one individual said they do not support suboxone; I knew many people who were on it there, and there was never an issue in regards to them taking it as part of their treatment. I can guarantee you that if you go through their program, stay until the end of your treatment, and actually partake in the program that they have set up for you, then you will leave understanding how truly wonderful a place New Bridge is.
Fantastic experience: They saved my life! So great full for the stuff and I’m proud to say thank to them I have 18 months clean and I work at a rehab center myself! Here my updates I now have 2 years clean thanks to Newbridge they are the best thank you for everything
Fantastic experience: Wonderful people, wonderful place.
Fantastic experience: My son went through six months in house treatment then after care and is now in a satellite. He has been involved with Newbridge for 14 months. It has truly changed his life. I cannot express how grateful and impressed I am with the Newbridge program. Woijtek, The director and a fabulous counselor put his heart and soul into my sons recovery. Having been through two other rehabs, Newbridge, by far, is exceptional!
Fantastic experience: Changes lives
Fantastic experience: Awesome plave
Fantastic experience: If you are honest with yourself and ready to change this place will give you the tools and help you need.
Fantastic experience: New Bridge saved my daughters life. It is an awesome program with caring counselors. It also helps the family learn so much about supporting your loved one thru recovery. I can only say great things about New Bridge. Its the best place to be by far. My daughter loved New Bridge. I am forever grateful to New Bridge.
Fantastic experience: Changed my life 5 years sober. I’m still in contact with friends and counselors I met there. I’ve gone there and spoke on many occasions
Fantastic experience: I have heard good things from the alum about the staff.
Negative experience: I am absolutely disgusted with this facility! My brother has been calling and calling trying to get a call back so he can get some help and has received nothing! He finally went down there today to try and get some help and was told to go to a homeless shelter! Really?? It makes me so mad that someone who is looking for help is getting turned away and/or ignored!
