Physical therapy personal were dedicated Everything was really special about being a patient there except when it came time to leave everything was terrible! Lady at receiving was rude about where my daughter had to park, which there are no signs saying different! Case managers having a stroke cause my family had an emergency & was running late, all though they called, to let them know! Denice, who was one of my techs, is the best part of my stay she was always there to help me when I needed help! She gets a very good !

Positive experience: Therapists were wonderful. Case Management was not ideal. Medical doctors sent my Dad home in an incoherent state which landed him back in the ER 3 days later. If you have physical needs they are great. If you have physical and medical needs not sure this is the place to go. Once the physical boxes are checked they discharge without considering the medical.

On top of this the therapist are the “BEST.” In this world with a very high level of interest in each patient. Keep up the great work!

Positive experience: My dad was treated there the therapist were very nice and helpful but the lady that passed out his meds wasn't too nice she was real short and not very helpful to questions she was very rude honestly but other than that the hygiene therapist and the mobile therapist were extremely helpful and very caring.

Fantastic experience: I can honestly tell you this was a wonderful experience for me. I was in a really really bad place couldn't move had the broken ribs. I was blessed to come there for 2 weeks my physical therapy there and my occupational therapy there has helped me more than anyone knows. I would like to thank two of the nicest and best women I've ever met that help me get through this with their laughter and professionalism and their beautiful smiles and that is Amanda and Mallory. Thank you ladies so much. You two are awesome! I would also like to thank the nursing staff the doctors and everyone else. I've never had an experience for everyone was so kind and helpful. I would like to thank the doctors who were amazing. I'm in a better place now I'm walking around much better and I'm doing better with my balance and I can't thank you guys enough. Negative experience: This is the worst rehabilitation facility I have ever encountered. My brother came to them after being referred by his orthopedic surgeon and a foot and leg amputation. The first week he was sleep deprived because they put him in a shared room with someone who was disruptive all night, blasted the television all night and yelled all night. Next they employed someone as a tech who had never been properly trained and had autism or was on the spectrum and she slammed my brothers amputated leg into a table and he began gushing blood profusely.Next they denied his request to be taken to the hospital (emergency) twice, gave him a blood transfusion without the knowledge or approval of his family, then they lied about his doctors office and to us repeatedly, then harassed him repeatedly while under the influence of heavy drugs, weak and disoriented to do exercises two to three times a day. Last straw they forced him to do assimilation exercises getting into a car and ramed the good leg into a machine now it also is bleeding. I called Corporate and complained but they never responded and a filed a police complaint after the injury. Now they have the audacity to say he is banned from returning. That is a blessing in disguise I wouldn't refer my worst enemy to this place. They are money hungry and insurance dollar chasers, they don't give a damn about the patients or their families. They are so unprofessional and evil. Avoid leaving your loved ones there if you want to see them remain alive.

Fantastic experience: The reason I chose five stars is because the care for my was really great. My doctors actually listen to me and I had the best doctors and the rehab part was also great they listen to me when I couldn’t go any further and taught me a lot on how to care for myself when I got home. If needed again that where I’m going.

Negative experience: I am not happy with the way Lakeshore Rehab (Encompass) handled things about my father. My father was sent to Rehab from UAB Highland. He was sent because he was unable to stand and do things for himself and they stated he can't go home until he was able to do so, so they referred him to Encompass Rehab. The first few days was wonderful. You have good staff and you have bad staff. The night staff neglected my dad when he needed help using the bathroom (urinal). We were also told he would have 14 days of therapy and if he needed more then they would get with Insurance and extend his stay. NOPE, not what happened. My dad came in a Monday September 8th, and I received a phone call on the following Monday stating that he was getting discharged on they Friday the 19th. That was only 11 days. Don't get me wrong, he had excellent OT, but his PT was unhappy because he wasn't able to help my dad more. He should have had more days and maybe we would have seen some results. My dad was sent home swollen, and in the same condition as when he got to Rehab. Still can't get up on his own, and yes, I have expressed my concerns and they still sent my dad home. The Case Manager Kierra was great, but I think she was only limited with what she can do. The PCT that assisted my dad throughout the day was Shania and she was wonderful. Since being home, my dad has had numerous of Nurses, and Therapists coming to evaluate him, and they've all asked why did they discharge him. They even asked why they didn't recommend a step down so he can get the extensive physical therapy he needs. Now, they're working on getting him places in another facility for inpatient rehab, and also getting him set up for a hospital bed. I don't recommend this Rehab for anyone. Signing off as a very upset and frustrated daughter. Update on review/Letter from Encompass Health: Thank you for sending me a letter with the intention to rectify what happened, but none of this stated in this letter is true. Therapist, Nurses, family, and I are still not pleased with the way things were handled. Had you all went through the proper chain of command; Humana and Medicare, and submitted the proper medical coding diagnosis for my father, he would be in a better condition by now. Yes, my father was able to scoot from the bed into his wheelchair with a sliding board, but he was scooting prior to him entering Encompass. I was told that this company does extensive physical therapy with the patient and I was excited, because my dad came there not being able to get up out of the bed. But I was very disappointed to see that none of you all addressed that issue, which is one of the reasons he was put there in the first place. So, again thank you so much for sending out this little letter, just to make me feel better. But it didn't!!!

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent occupational therapist and a great physical therapist!!! They helped me with the simplest things but are hard for me like putting on my socks using a grabber for things I dropped!!! My physical therapist pushed me to use muscles I did not know was there!!! But neither forced me to things beyond what I was capable to do!!! Everyone was great helpful!!! All my nurses and techs was awesome!!! Also the ladies that came around every day to get our food order was great!!!! I met people from all over Alabama!!! Even though we come from different areas we all shared things that we had in common. Our Lord and savior being the number #1 in common and then food!!! I thank everyone at encompass for taking care of me and making my stay enjoyable!!!my doctors was great they listened and was there when I needed anything!!! Dr.Rosemore and Dr. Rudeseal was great!!!

Their encouragement, their positive talk, the way they helped me with my therapy I cannot express enough how much I appreciate them. Negative experience: My grandmother was here for roughly 2 weeks. When we first got there, everything seemed fine. The staff were pretty good but trouble came. Before she got there, she did not have a pressure ulcer. Now she has one on her bottom and it’s pretty huge due to the lack of being turned and changed promptly. She was released to come home this Monday & as I was giving her a bath today, we found another wound under her left breast which was NEVER addressed to us. I’m sure that they didn’t even know it was there due to the lack of assessment I reached out to the facility to speak to the house supervisor and I was told they would call me back. Trying my best to give them a chance before Encompass is reported to the state for negligence. While she was there, we came to visit EVERYDAY. On one instance, we came to visit her and her brief was soiled! She had stool all up her back and when we addressed it, we were told that, “they didn’t know she was incontinent.” She is continent, however sometimes she doesn’t know and it was written on the board to check for incontinence. If I don’t hear anything from them soon, Encompass will be reported to the state.

Fantastic experience: This is a great facility to rehab. The therapist is very kind and supportive. My experience here was excellent.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Encompass Lakeshore. Their customer service was outstanding, staring with the Lobby workers. The receptionist Mildred Johnson, and Gabraiell Griggs were very knowledgeable, polite, and always smiling. Encompass also had friendly and highly skilled security (Jay Robinson, and Mitch Eldridge). I also appreciate the care from the doctor's and OT, PT, GT. When my mom came to Encompass she couldn't sit up by herself, but after two weeks of therapy she was walking with a walker. Thank God and Encompass.

Negative experience: My grandmother went here, no one reported that she had retained 40 pounds worth of fluid on her legs which was VISIBLY noticeable if they would have payed attention. As far as therapy goes I understand it hurts but forcing someone to complete therapy when crying throughout is a complete disregard to how a patient feels. This place also adamantly refused to let her have her daily medicine that she has taken for years for anxiety as well as medication for her constipation (she has a history of bowel blockages and has even had a rupture) the excuse given was “oh well hospitals over prescribe stuff like that”. I work in the medical field and this was beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. I once thought highly of this place but after this experience it has changed my views.

Positive experience: Therapists were amazing! Nursing questionable. I work in healthcare and was constantly asking what they were doing and why sometimes with iffy answers. Food was absolutely sub par. No nutritional value and tasteless except for breakfast. Inexcusable for the cost of room and board.

Fantastic experience: My doctor he was awesome my tech Sierra Tompkins was more than Austin she deserves a pay grade that girl is full throttle all the way and she is so caring I appreciate having her to look after me beautiful lady beautiful spirit and she loves what she does

Positive experience: The therapist are amazing but the case manager we had was horrible. I’m a social worker myself and had to do most of the follow up for my non. Never heard from her weekly as promised and never spoke to the Dr. My mom made no progress the first two weeks for being overly medicated because of her behaviors for her dementia. If I hadn’t have advocated for my mom she would be in a whole other state physically. Overall I love the staff on the floor and that’s the true hero’s the therapist.

Positive experience: Great physical therapy an op therapy staff. Doctors on call general practice very helpful per condition of patent .speech therapy a little.too much on the cautious siesde, some nurses talked the talk to help with anything,but not all would walk the walk to help or they forgot.

Fantastic experience: I had a negative opinion of Lakeshore from when my aunt was there 15-20 years ago. But my mother had a wonderful experience there. The rooms are bright and clean. The therapists are the best. Very creative too. I can’t say enough about the doctors and nurses either. I’d highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I received the training I needed in order to continue to improve in health. I must have lost a lot of weight in the month I was in hospital because most everyone was surprised that I recovered so quickly, but I always knew I was going to walk out of that facility and with the help of the doctors and staff I did. Leigh was a particularly important member of the staff to provide me direction and confidence, her assistance was invaluable to me, I knew where I stood, and how well I stood because of her interested participation in my recovery. The doctors listened to my every complaint ( with my maladies) and responded quickly and appropriately to my needs . I am sure that my recovery was the direct result of the attention I received and I would like to say thank you to everyone at the facility.

Fantastic experience: My husband went in here after being hospitalized for Covid. It was a Phenomenal experience. The physical therapy was wonderful. The doctor and nurses were really good and, the cleanliness was excellent. He came out of there in a good place physically and mentally. Thank you guys for being so Amazing!!!

Negative experience: Deceitful is what this place is. They lie and trick family members that are NOT able to care for the patient into taking them home, then lie that there is help coming. They tell lies on top of lies. I would NEVER recommend this facility due to this reason alone. They were told multiple times that my non driving 80 year old mother with physical and mental disabilities was NOT able to care for a family member and they went around that and talked her into saying she would take him by promising in home health care as well as rides to and from his doctor appointments. This was of course lies...well the rides are available for $400-600 each out of her pocket of course. This was not discussed with her prior to the patient being brought home. Now no one will return her calls or answer questions for her. Unethical practices sums this "facility" up!!

Fantastic experience: These are the most talented, dedicated folks in any healthcare organization. I think these people who give bad reviews here on Google are unhappy because Lakeshore staff helps improve the patient's function to a point where they can go home home with their children/someone only having to look in on them every day. The children of these elderly patients have been waing to put them in a nursing home and Lakeshore does not endorse that. Thank goodness for my daughter, she does not think like that.

Encompass has both met and exceeded my expectations both times in recent months when I have needed a stay there for recovery after two surgeries! Fantastic experience: The Pt and OT are great they really try to encourage you to do your best. They never get discouraged with you or tell you how proud they are of you that picture was sent to my husband because i had a tech that didn’t follow protocol and i hit the floor.

Negative experience: I’ve been in the hospital twice with more infection. They left part of my wound back and my stomach and it’s caused me to be septic and have a worse infection.

They talked to me about why we worked on what we did and also talked to me about my feelings. They were exceptional!!! This was my third visit to Lakeshore and if I need to use a rehabilitation facility in the future, it would be Encompass Lakeshore!
