At East Side Physical Therapy, we customize your rehabilitation program based on your presentation, lifestyle, and goals. We are your best choice for outpatient orthopedic physical therapy in Anchorage.

We are a small clinic, focused on individualized patient care. We want to help you reach your goals of improved function. You tell us what your life is like now, and what you want it to be. Our job is to discern what specific systems we can help you modify. Then we help you understand how your body works, and help you apply the knowledge to help it work the best it can for you.

The clinic is owned and operated by a local Physical Therapist and US Army veteran; Jeanna Duryee, DPT. She received her doctorate in 2001 at the University of Southern California, the highest rated PT program in the country.

We believe you get the best care when you are seen in a therapist owned PT clinic. When you see a PT in a clinic that is owned by a large health care organization, the PT's have production quotas and work hard to maximize profits for the owners and stockholders. Here we are paying the hands you see on deck. We see fewer patients, and spend more time getting to know them, and treating them. That improves our outcomes.

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) advocates against PT clinics owned by physicians due to the concern of referral for profit. Most PT schools do not even allow their students to intern at clinics that are owned by physicians.

We combine that foundation with the understanding that the patient comes with a body, mind, and spirit. We refer patients out for treatment to Yoga instructors, naturopathic doctors, counselors, and specialist physicians as appropriate.

Dr. Duryee harvests these plants, and makes a line of products that she uses with her patients, and sells. She has products that help reduce pain and inflammation, speed healing, and improve immune function. Her research on local plants and diet is readily shared with her patients. She also teaches a few small classes a year to help others learn how to stay healthy in the far north.

All of this education and research has been enhanced with 15 years experience practicing in Alaska. We work hard, play hard, and unfortunately can sit around too much in the winter. We are here to help when that combination turns to illness or injury.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to east side physical therapy for over a month now and the treatment plan I received along with the exercise and the website they provide has the information and workout routine that is specific to my treatment Goals . It’s available at my fingertips and viewing and seeing the exercising videos are really instrumental in my recovery. Fantastic experience: I went to the East Side Physica. Therapy seeking relief from shoulder due to a biking accident. Dr. Duryee took time to explain how shoulder worked and moved with a shoulder model. She set exercises and showed how to do them correctly. I am grateful to Dr.Duryee for guiding me back to a healthier shoulder.

Fantastic experience: Although I haven't been to physical therapy for about half a year I thought about it and i have to write a review. I originally went here for my knee. Staff is very kind and works at whatever level is manageable for you. The real sticker here though, if it wasnt for Gina I wouldve never had my doctor look into my lower back pain more. She saw the problems with my knee and told me that it looks a lot like problems with nerves and that she'll write notes to my doctor about it. With my doctor looking into it, It turned out I had my entire lower lumbar herniated and a bone growth sticking into the nerves of my spine. If it wasn't for Gina's close attention to detail and care for her patients, I wouldve never found this out and had the surgery to fix these problems. i can't thank east side physical therapy enough for the help they've done so i was able to get the proper treatment before things got to bad. If you have a choice of where to get physical therapy, this is definitely the place.

Fantastic experience: My sciatic pain was so intense that I could barely stand or walk when I first visited East Side Physical Therapy. After only two visits, I have learned some great stretches, body weight exercises, and have a better understanding of what is causing my pain. I'm making progress and feel a little better every day. I had been seeing a chiropractor twice a week for months, with very little relief. I had zero understanding of what was causing the issue and how to properly get relief. I was shelling out hundreds of dollars and thinking I needed surgery. If you're hurting, try East Side Physical Therapy FIRST. Understand why you hurt, how to fix it, and if you need a chiropractor, they'll point you in the right direction.
