Physical therapy is a great first-line treatment for most muscle and joint problems. Clinically proven to reduce pain and dysfunction, physical therapy also saves you time and money too.
At Kempton Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, we are dedicated to providing our patients with the latest and most effective therapies available. That’s why we offer Anodyne Therapy & Infrared Light, a powerful combination that can help you recover from injury, reduce pain, and improve your overall health.
Dry Needling is a treatment technique often used by physical therapists to relieve pain. It requires using a sterile acupuncture needle that is inserted through the skin into muscles, tendons, ligaments, and/or close to nerves to immediately reduce pain, decrease muscle tension and increase mobility.
Kinesio Taping is a technique that uses elastic tape to support and stabilize muscles and joints, reducing pain and improving function. It has become increasingly popular in physical therapy as a non-invasive treatment option for a variety of conditions.
Physical therapists often use therapeutic exercise in patient rehabilitation. This exercise can help restore muscular and skeletal function, correct impairments, and reduce pain.
Trigger point therapy, also known as myofascial relief or pressure point massage, is the application of firm, but gentle pressure to certain areas on the body. These are called pressure points or trigger points.
At your first appointment, you will be subject to a physical exam. You will also be asked questions about your medical history and current condition. One of our licensed physical therapists can create a customized treatment plan based on your needs.
Joint mobilization involves passive movement of certain joints through the skilled application force, direction, or technique. The physical therapist may use their hands to mobilize the affected joint, or use other tools such as straps to achieve the desired effect.
Our team understands that you want to live an active lifestyle that is comfortable and capable. Your body must work in order to achieve that. You are experiencing pain, injury or weakness, which can make you feel confused and frustrated.
We believe that you deserve a body that is fully functional. We know what it is like to be injured, which has led to our success in helping thousands of people get back to their active lives.
The programs are designed to help you achieve your physical health goals. They start with pain management and continue to use corrective exercises to build your body’s strength.
Then, you’ll be doing functional training activities and then the injury prevention phase. This is crucial to keep your strength up and prevent injury.
Physical therapy sessions typically involve an assessment of your condition, manual techniques to improve mobility and flexibility, individualized exercises and activities to help you reach your goals, education on how to prevent further injury or pain, and instruction on proper posture, body mechanics and other lifestyle changes.
It depends on what health insurance plan you have and the state in which you live! In some states, direct access laws allow patients to be seen without a physician referral. Check with your health insurance company and local physical therapy clinics before scheduling an appointment.
You should dress in comfortable, loose clothing that allows you to move easily and doesn’t restrict circulation. Depending on your condition, your physical therapist may also recommend special shoes or a brace. You should also bring any paperwork related to your medical history, including x-rays, ultrasounds, and doctor’s notes.
Yes! Make sure you arrive for your session well-rested so that you can give it your full attention and energy. It is also helpful if you keep track of how much pain medication (if any) you take prior to the appointment so that the physical therapist can adjust the intensity of treatment accordingly.
Sessions typically last 30-60 minutes depending on your condition and the types of techniques used. Your physical therapist will give you an estimate when you first arrive for your appointment.
Yes! Your physical therapist may provide specific exercise recommendations for you to try in between visits, which will help speed up your recovery and progress faster toward reaching your goals. It’s important to follow these carefully and always check with your PT before starting a new exercise program if you have any questions or concerns.
Your physical therapist should be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your treatment plan before and after each visit. You can also contact the clinic directly for further assistance. We want you to get the most out of every session!
It depends on your insurance plan. Most plans cover some or all of the costs associated with physical therapy, but you should check with your provider to determine coverage and any associated fees.
The frequency of visits will depend on your individual goals and condition, but typically it is recommended that patients attend 2-3 times per week for a minimum of 4-6 weeks in order to maximize results. Your therapist will provide more details during your initial appointment.
Every person’s situation is unique; therefore the amount of time needed to reach goals varies. With commitment and dedication from both you and your physical therapist, you can expect to start seeing results within a few weeks. The more positive lifestyle changes you make, the faster your progress will be!
Yes! Your physical therapist should be available to discuss any concerns or questions you have regarding your condition or treatment plan. Don’t hesitate to bring up any issues that may arise during the course of therapy.
If at any time during your physical therapy session you experience increased pain, it’s important to let your therapist know so they can adjust the intensity or technique as necessary. Your therapist will work with you to make sure that treatment is comfortable and effective for you
Your physical therapist should be able to provide guidance on when it is appropriate to stop attending physical therapy sessions based on your progress, goals, and overall health status. It’s important to listen to your therapist and continue with treatment until they feel you are ready to move on.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to several PT clinics around the valley, none can match the care you’ll get at Kemptom physical therapy!! The therapists genuinely care about you. Your success and healing is their passion. The atmosphere is friendly and loving. I feel better just walking in the door! They are incredible and compassionate! They use numerous modalities, including an amazing pool for water therapy!
Fantastic experience: Facilities are impressive, they have consultation rooms, a fully equipped gym, AND an indoor heated therapy pool. The therapists are very experienced and will teach you what’s going on with your body. They are also super attentive and work as a team. I’ve just been super impressed ever since my first visit.
Fantastic experience: The people at Kempton are fantastic. I went their two separate times. Once after being totally paralyzed from the West Nile virus in 2021 and 2022. I was able to regain the use of my limbs and regain my strength. I was also there after having a partial hip replacement, broken wrist and broken shoulder due to a fall. They were able to properly assess my needs and design a rehabilitation program that has allowed me to resume a normal life. I have referred two friends there that each are very pleased with their results. Great people that do great work.
Fantastic experience: Everyone of the therapists are so professional. They definitely know what to do to help a person recover from a surgery or whatever. They have really helped me after having hip replacement surgery. I highly recommend anyone to use Kempton Physical Therapy. You will be so pleased.

Fantastic experience: Great area
Fantastic experience: Love the land and water rehab! PT Paul is the best! My scapula wasn’t attached and had rotator cuff surgery. Paul & Staff has what you need to get better. The clean, caring professional environment makes it a 5 Star place!
Fantastic experience: Outstanding staff. Knowledgeable, helpful, available. Recommended without reservation

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for the best Physical Therapist in Arizona, Paul Kempton is that person. He and his staff are very knowledgeable and it will be a fun experience. Give them a try, I know you will love them as much as I do.
Fantastic experience: Great people and care. Went back here for 2nd knee rehab. Encouraging, but tough when they need to be.
Fantastic experience: Everyone was so happy and helpful, from the owner (Paul) to the therapists to front staff. All the therapists are extremely knowledgeable, listen to the patient and work with you to address all your needs. They involve the patient in every step of the process. I would highly recommend Kempton Physical Therapy to everyone.
Fantastic experience: I had the great opportunity of doing my externship through school at Kempton Physical Therapy as a physical therapy aide. I have also had the phenomenal experience of working as an official physical Therapy technician or aide these past 10 months with Kempton PT. The whole staff is wonderful Dr. Paul Kempton really knows his stuff, and is an awesome, down to earth guy that is all about helping people get better. Funny and great guy! Same goes for Dr. Jordan Chandler! He really knows his stuff when it comes to PT. Great and funny guy! Both Drs’ at Kempton are very knowledgeable, friendly and will definitely make your PT experience as seamless as possible. The only reason I am resigning from my position is due to school. I decided to further my education and become a Physical Therapist Assistant, and with the amount of studies required for this schooling I would not have been able to work full time and study successfully to become a proficient clinician. I am definitely sad to go, the whole staff has been very supportive in my decision to further my education in pursuit of becoming a PTA. Mindy is awesome! Super friendly and funny! Her jokes of the day will knock your socks off! Sammy is awesome! Very friendly, very helpful and down to earth! Debbie the office manager is brilliant! She is very proficient at her work, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet! She will definitely take care of you at Kempton PT. Teresa is great! Friendly, funny and super caring! Jatae is also brilliant, very friendly and very proficient! All in all it has been great with Kempton PT! If you are having any PT needs, or know anyone that does, go to Kempton PT they will take care of you, and help get you back to the things you love doing!
Fantastic experience: I’ve had two (2) operations on my foot within 1 yr. Had PT in 2019 at a place my Dr recommended. Then, with 2nd operation I chose Kempton Physical Therapy in Mesa.. I can say there is a world of difference between the two. Kempton PT is professional, caring and ALL the physical therapists are VERY knowledgeable. Jordan evaluated me and has worked with me every time I’ve come in. He has gotten me to the point where I’m walking without a cane. He has incorporated new exercises when the routine gets too easy.. Dan and Mindy are, also, very good. Paul, the owner, is always there to answer questions and is down to earth. They detail exercises for your specific needs. I would highly recommend Kempton PT! Diane G.
Fantastic experience: Will, the dr Knows about the body n can explain so that you understand what is going on n how to help your body get better, he actually understands n KNOWS...n helps you understand so you can do better at home, n help the healing, they know the frustration you’ve been through n the ladies are Helpful n know what it is to be injured, frustrated n angry at your life n body n make it a GOOD experience to come to Therepy n actually get Better instead of another painful task or something to endure, Will has this Philosophy also, it’s just a different experience when your dr of therepy KNOWS what’s going on instead of just following a manual.
Fantastic experience: Where do I start? I hurt my ankle and searched long and hard for a good physical therapist. Someone that I could trust, Kempton physical therapy had great reviews so I decided to go with them! The second you walk in they are friendly and they just revamped their whole office. The owner of the business is the nicest most down to earth and knowledgeable guy I have met.. he made me 100% better and his caring and knowledge made me feel so comfortable. I would definitely recommend Kempton Physical Therapy.
Fantastic experience: I can't say enough great things about Kempton PT, They are professional, very caring and have great rapport with their clients. I have been going there 2 years, 1st as a patient and now is my gym. They have transformed me from being on a walker to living a normal life without a walker, etc. I have recommed them to many, just a great group!!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended very nice staff and great experience .
Fantastic experience: Paul Kempton is amazing! I had vertigo on and off for about ten years. One treatment by Paul and my vertigo is gone! I couldn’t be more grateful! He cares about his patients and his office staff is friendly - I highly recommend!
