Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute – Golden Valley

Fantastic experience: I have been suffering for years with joint pain. I now attend warm water pool classes to help with my mobility and it has helped incredibly. I have found the staff helpful and truly wonderful to work with. This place does a whole lot of good for many people and I do not think it gets the praise it deserves.

Fantastic experience: Courage Kenny rehabilitation institute is a great place with multiple services that include excellent care for complex medical conditions. Mission-driven, caring and experienced. Those who work there are very caring and commited.

Fantastic experience: The pool is wonderful and therapeutic for my chronic pain. Courage Center is not a SPA or GYM. It exists for people with disabilities. It is basic with no bells and whistles.

Fantastic experience: Since his spinal cord injury my husband has been cared for at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (quite good), N. Fulton Hospital rehab in Atlanta (awful), and now the Courage Center (absolutely wonderful). This is just a great place. Physical and occupational therapies are well done, the in-house physical medicine doctors listen carefully to the patient and work together to adjust medication and other treatments. Even the food is not too bad. There is a lovely patio outside of the dining hall overlooking a golf course and gas grills for family cook outs. Pets are allowed at any time. Our daughter and my husband recently planted a vegetable garden. The Courage Center is a venerable charitable institution in the Twin Cities so the patients not only benefit from Minnesota's much-better-than-average medical system but from great many donations from people, corporations, and foundations. For example, the Courage Center has six FES machines which were donated by the Christopher Reeve Foundation. It is rare that someone would have experienced rehab in three different states, but my husband has. . .and he can testify that the Courage Center is head and shoulders better than anywhere else. Of course, there are problems with staffing (this is an extremely labor intensive project) but they are trying really hard. The nurses, rehab aids, therapists, food service people and the housekeeping staff all seem really to like their jobs and try to give as much time to the residents as possible.

Fantastic experience: This place is AMAZING!! My husband has FND with severe drop attacks that have taken a toll on his body. I have never went with him yet but he works with the aquatics team and loves every one he has seen. He was able to start independent aquatics after his regular PT later and it was the best thing for him. He said at least all he drank was a mouthful of water but didn’t get a head injury and staff always watch him and make sure he is safe. He just had major back surgery with his two bottom vertebraes fused and once released to PT he can go back to pool PT with one of the wonderful caring therapists and once he is done with that we will pay out of pocket for him to use their pull for independent PT. Our insurance covers the PT with the therapists but won’t for independent. We don’t care we will pay it and he drives from Farmington to this site at least 3 days a week.

Fantastic experience: I find Courage Kenneth Golden Valley to be an excellent facility with excellent kind caring employees. Been here for various forms of PT and use the gym and pool on a regular basis. My only negative comment would be the mens locker room is small

Fantastic experience: This is the second time I've gotten therapy at Courage Center. The first was in 2008 for two years to help recover from a severe brain injury. This time was for 2 months to prepare for knee replacement surgery and to continue with balance issues left over from the previous TBI. So, I've had contact with a considerable variety of equipment, docs and therapists. Since Allina has purchased Courage/Kenny there have been significant improvements to the facility, especially the fitness center. Because my therapists were almost universally excellent last time, I was worried that the new Allina crew would not be as good. Those worries were unfounded. Both Abby and Kelsie were stars. Administration seems to have improved as well. When I was discussing physical therapy with one of my non-CK docs I told him that I was signing up at Courage/Kenny. He said that, if I could get in, they were the gold standard. He repeated that twice. I have highly recommended CKRI and would do so again given the opportunity.

Fantastic experience: This place is the best place to be near the end. They saw me through. And I had to respect their interests in getting me back to semi-normal. We each had respect for each other. And I still do in All of the people that have involvement here. They mean the best for all the people that have to be here.

Fantastic experience: I love going to Courage Kenney! I go at least 3 times a week for the Aquatics Exercises. The whirlpool jets feel so good on my back. You enter into a different world once you get into the warm water. They have everything you need in the pool. So many different floating apparatuses.

Fantastic experience: I have yet to meet, and/or work with any Therapist, or staff member who was not respectful. These negative reviews do not reflect how it actually is at CKRI., In my opinion. I've met quite a few very kind individuals in the short time I've been going there for stroke rehab. I have 100% faith, and trust in that Team!!

Fantastic experience: I lived here for approximately 6 months soon after a near fatal bicycle accident which left me dealing with a TBI & other cognitive impairments. The staff are incredible & my healing was in such good hands. I Highly suggest this tremendous hatchery facility for their amazing regression rehabilitation programs. There's also amazing duck watching for the warmer times in Golden Valley. Thank you & good luck on all forms of healing that you need to do.

Fantastic experience: I spent two weeks of rehab prior to going home after being hospitalized in ICU for three months. I found the nursing staff very professional. Helpful, and kind.

Fantastic experience: My Uncle was in a car accident and had a shunt put in to relieve pressure and build up of spinal fluid on the brain. I live 3 states away. He was in ICU/outpatient/rehab for 3 months. The care, coordination, attention to detail, kindness from Alina/Courage Kenny has been outstanding and exemplary! My uncle was completely and utterly happy with the staff and care, the facility, food, cleanliness, just everything. I cannot say enough good things about the staff and facility. Without their help I would have been dead in the water. NOTE: Every facility I looked at has good and bad reviews. Consider the number of people that bothered to leave any kind of comment or rating. If there was a problem here, it has long been fixed.

Fantastic experience: This place is one of the best around the staff is amazing and help out a lot I seen so much progress since I started courage center they got. A lot of different equipment u can work wit I recommend if u need therapy this is the place to come
