Fantastic experience: Of all the 6+ PTs I saw post shoulder (labrum) surgery, Emily was the most helpful, especially for climbing.

Fantastic experience: Emily is truly invested in her patients recovery! She’s thorough, creative, and intentionally tailors the exercises she prescribes to the needs of each individual case. Her treatment of my ankle injury has been a huge help and I can’t recommend her more!

Fantastic experience: Emily is a terrific PT. I've used her services many times over the past 5 years for various sports and non-sports related injuries, and I've always been satisfied with her smart analysis, therapeutic techniques, and realistic approach to home exercises. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Working with Emily was great! I’m psyched to be able to return to climbing after several months of knee pain. We were even able to get on the wall during our sessions once my pain was improving! You definitely won’t get that at the big PT companies. Thanks, Emily!

Fantastic experience: Emily is an amazing PT. I have been climbing for 12 years and sustained a pulley injury when I sought Emily’s care. She was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She set me on the path to recovery and provided me with the care necessary to return to my full climbing performance! Absolutely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great rehab process that got my hip healthy and she also recommended a great orthopedics doctor to help!

Fantastic experience: I came to Emily with several climbing related injuries and she got me back to full strength quickly and helped me with a long-term strategy going forward. Her climbing and dance background combined with her physical therapy knowledge make her an excellent choice for treating rock climbing and other complex sport related injuries. Emily is an absolute pleasure to work with and I can whole heartedly recommend her services.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with physical therapist, Emily Noe. I came to Emily with a long-standing injury that was aggravated by my exercise routines--hiking, dance etc...She was able to diagnose my problem, help me understand better how to position my body and offer strengthening exercises that made a huge difference. Huge recommendation of Emily for her knowledge, ease of scheduling, and delightful personality.

Fantastic experience: Emily was great! I’m a competitive athlete in Ultimate Frisbee, and she was able to help me recover from a bad lower-back strain. She answered all my questions, gave me weekly progressions of exercises and a reasonable timeline for return to activity. Her PT helped immediately, and I was able to make a full recovery.

Fantastic experience: tl;dr Emily Noe is an exceptional PT to work with, and I've seen my fair share of physical therapists. About me I'm a lifelong endurance athlete in their mid-thirties with a history of injuries commensurate with my experience. Context I've worked with Emily twice in the last year. The first time I was trying to get back into cycling but struggling with knee issues. When I saw Emily, I couldn't complete a ride more than 15 miles long without pain. Emily diagnosed the problems, clearly communicating her findings along the way, and helped me build up a repertoire of stretches and strengthening that allowed me to push into much longer and harder rides through time. Most recently, I've ridden over 70 miles on a Saturday and plan a 100+ mile ride this summer. I also saw Emily for some hip impingement-related issues. I'd run this problem a few years back but was experiencing it this time in the context of cycling rather than lifting. Emily again helped me build a great mental model for what to strengthen versus stretch and how to fend against this issue before and after my rides. I'm happily riding without hip issues after a few weeks of working Emily.

Fantastic experience: I saw Emily for a few sessions in early 2023 for an A2 pulley injury from rock climbing. Emily shared such a depth of specific knowledge about rehabilitating my finger as it related to the sport I love: climbing! She even came to meet me at the gym to watch my form and provide advice for how to avoid future injuries based on my personal body mechanics and climbing style. Would highly recommend her to any friend!

Fantastic experience: Emily is a remarkable physical therapist and insightful coach. Her expert problem-solving and intuitive load progression over our eight weeks of working together was very effective, allowing me to go from barely being able to walk without pain, to performing full blast. In addition to being skilled at crafting treatment plans, Emily is incredibly thoughtful and encouraging—checking in regularly and making me feel supported during an otherwise challenging recovery process.

Fantastic experience: I've been climbing for 4 years, bouldering about V8 when inevitably I got injured. Emily was extremely helpful in diagnosing and recommending PT for me on my journey to recovery. Definitely would recommend to any climbers!

Fantastic experience: I've been a rock climber for almost 18 years. I train 3-5 days a week and have climbed V12 and 5.13d. Needless to say, climbing is a huge part of my life or heck core to my very identity for better or worse. Needless to say I was pretty devastated when I tore my rotator cuff (almost full tear of the supraspinatus). At least I maimed myself gloriously climbing my hardest on perfect swiss gneiss. But I digress, it was the worst injury I have suffered and I wasn't sure things would ever be the same. For previous injuries I have done my PT through the usual recommended providers from my doctors. These include UCSF and Kaiser provided PT. Not that these were altogether bad experiences, but they had the conveyer belt feel of in and out, not very personally curated experiences, fit as many patients into the day as possible. Given the severity of the injury and recovery process, and that I pretty much value my ability to freely move on rock as paramount, I sought out a private provider. I knew Emily as a climber and knew that she would understand the specific strains and stresses climbing uniquely requires. Most PTs and doctors only understand rock climbing tangentially, so when they say you'll make a full recovery, they don't fully realize what a climber expects of their body. Emily fully understood my goals, my needs, was honest with me, and addressed each new little twinge of pain, every unexpected pop or crack and issue that came up during the recovery process (of which there were many). PT started less than three weeks from surgery, while some of the hospital provided PT couldn't even have scheduled me for months! She's also very hands on with manipulation of the injured tissue far more so then the PTs I have had in the past (her fingers are quite strong and this hurt!! but for the best). Another thing that separates her from other PTs are the incredibly personalized and detailed workout, strengthening and stretching plans she provided. It wasn't just some general photocopy from a PT manual it was specific instructions, amount of repetitions and frequencies at which I needed to do the exercises. These plans would change weekly to adjust to progress and difficulties I experienced. She would also video me doing the exercises so I could use them later to maintain proper form. When your injured you are at a low point physically and mentally and any uncertainty is not welcome. I wanted to be told what to do, how many times, and when to give me the best chance of recovery. Emily did this! So where am I at now... Well its been 9 months since surgery and I'm back to climbing double digit boulders. Certain exercises honestly feel better than they did before the injury and surgery! There are still a few moves I'm weary of, but at this point its probably more mental than physical. I no longer fear that I will not get back to where I was and am about to prove I learned no lesson at all and go back to Switzerland to try hard again. I still see Emily although infrequently now, kind of feel like every serious climber should have a PT to complain to and manage injury prevention. I will keep working with her to ensure the longest and healthiest climbing career possible

Fantastic experience: Emily is a competent and efficient PT - and an athlete in her own right - who can diagnose and treat issues quickly and effectively. I was impressed with her focus, her explanations, her easy going manner, and her commitment to resolving issues in a few sessions. I wish she were able to accept insurance, but I certainly understand the problems associated with insurance relationships and didn't mind at all paying out of pocket for the few sessions we had. I'm pleased she's associated with a gym because we can take advantage of the equipment and other attributes that the gym setting provides.

Fantastic experience: Emily is an excellent PT and clinician. She listened patiently to my symptoms and came up with a wholesome approach to my care including not only exercises but hints on nutrition and rest. She modified the plan according to my progress and gave me great tips for caring for myself. I highly recommend her!

Fantastic experience: Have you ever met someone who is doing exactly what they were born to do? Well that is Emily. She is a literal life saver. Being a life long (and aging) soccer player and surfer has been rough on my body. So rough that I severely herniated two discs in my back causing excruciating pain for months with no relief. After PT fails I finally met Emily. She built a program unique to my injury focusing on me returning back to activity. After a few months of work I was back in action. Emily's intuitive abilities and PT skills are unparalleled - I can't recommend her enough!

Fantastic experience: I saw Emily for ankle, back, and shoulder pain that I was experiencing from ultimate frisbee. I was very impressed with her approach to resolving my pain by looking "upstream" at my movement mechanics. Her program noticeably increased my mobility, range of motion, and functional strength. She is a thoughtful PT, listens to your feedback and concerns, and cares a lot about her clients. Her approach was tailored to my body and its limitations/dysfunctions and I noticed improvements week to week as we progressed through the exercises she put together for me. I'd recommend Emily to anyone looking for an effective and personalized PT plan. She's a real gem!

Fantastic experience: I came to Emily looking for a fellow female climber to help with my shoulder, wrist, and foot. My shoulder has been a chronic issue for several years and the wrist issue a more acute problem. All of which, she was able to give me daily exercises and monitor my progress during our sessions. I could not be more grateful for her expertise and help. I went on a big climbing trip after 5 sessions with Emily and spent a full day on the wall, sending the hardest pitch I've ever climbed. I would recommend Emily to anyone looking for a PT in the Bay area! She genuinely cares about her clients and even checked in with me after our 5 sessions.

Fantastic experience: Emily is terrific! She is knowledgeable, explains things clearly, is fun to work with, and is committed to the point of being obsessed at getting you to achieve your goals. She is constantly thinking about your particular situation and how to improve it. Emily is exactly what you want a physical therapist to be.

Fantastic experience: I hurt my back at work I and was feeling pretty hopeless. Emily had an opening the next day, and I left not only with less pain thanks to her skilled manual therapy, but with a gentle exercise plan that had me swiftly back on my feet. She also helped me understand how to adjust the way that I move so I don't hurt myself again. Haven't had any pain or problems since. I've recommended her to all my friends and family...can't speak highly enough!

Fantastic experience: Huge thank you to Dr. Noe for helping me gain back my muscle and confidence after breaking my leg! Made a huge difference in my quality of life - 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Are you an injured climber? Are you dreading doing PT because you think they'll tell you to stop climbing? Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Emily. I'd accumulated a series of injuries over years of climbing and I'd put off seeing a PT for way too long. I went to one of Emily's clinics at Pacific Pipe and was psyched by her PT expertise and her stoke for climbing. After several sessions spread over 2 months we systematically worked on my injuries and weaknesses. My hamstring, wrist, and fingers are now feeling fully recovered and I've come away with much greater insight into what causes injuries and how to approach rehab. We did massage/mobility work, progressive strength exercises, discussed technique, and chatted about local climbing spots. I'm really grateful to have worked with Emily.

Fantastic experience: I’d give more stars if I could! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Emily helped my recover from a herniated and torn disc with retrolisthesis. After a few weeks of exercises I turned the corner and started to feel less pain and more stability and strength, it was like magic (I know it’s not actual magic) the relief of knowing I’m improving is immense. I’m so grateful for her help. She’s also super nice and incredibly knowledgeable!

Fantastic experience: I came to Emily's office feeling rather pessimistic since my back was in pretty bad shape. She listened to my concerns and prescribed a set of exercises that were spot on for my particular problem. Emily was a wonderful combination of being professional as well as very personable. She's also incredibly knowledgeable. I recommend her without reservation to anyone who would like to get on a healthy path. As I learned, it's never too late!

Fantastic experience: Emily is an amazing Physical Therapist! I came in with shoulder pain that I’ve been coping with for a few years now. I haven’t gotten it treated until now. She listened to all the little details that came up during our session together and proceeded to help me identify & stretch my problem area. After the session, she sent me the stretches we did via email so that I may continue them at home. Overall, my experience with Emily has been terrific!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Emily. Went in for some ankle strengthening, and through the process she was able to identify some right knee weakness that ultimately was the bigger issue. She then pointed me to good exercises and form that will help with strengthening it.

Fantastic experience: A friend recommended Emily Noe and raved about her PT skills and knowledge. When I went to see her, I was in pain from a recent injury. She put me through the paces to rule out what it was NOT and then started working on the possible problems. She was patient with my questions and gave me exercises that helped me regain my movements without pain or a limp. Even though I have insurance that would pay for PT, I paid out of pocket so I might have visits that were more focused and not rushed. She's worth it! I recommend her highly.

Fantastic experience: Emily came to the rescue for me 3 weeks before my marathon. I hadn't been able to run for 2 weeks prior to seeing her due to an IT band issue. My own attempts at rehab weren't working, so I decided to make an appointment. She was very patient, spent lots of time making sure the correct issue was identified, and showed/sent me a personalized regimen. I was able to run my marathon AND make my time goal without pain. I'm really thankful for being able to see her on such short notice and be able to run the race.

Fantastic experience: Emily Noe is truly the best of the best. I am a retired ballet dancer that has had serious `degenerative knee issues for 25 years. I have tried literally everything, including stem cell to reverse this issue, and nothing has done more than temporarily mitigate the problem. Emily took the time to listen to all the background information and made a careful assessment. Her combination of release work, carefully crafted exercises and exercises using the BFR device have made all of the difference. I am jumping rope for the first time in years! Thanks to Emily, my knee is almost functional again!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Noe is amazing! She took her time with me and answered all my questions. She walked me through the process of getting back on my feet. I am so grateful. She really cares and knows what she is doing! I highly recommend her. I even sent my mother to her!

Fantastic experience: When I found myself experiencing leg numbness and difficulty walking, a friend recommended I get an MRI and see Emile Noe for an assessment and set up a PT program. Emil pegged the problem (4th and 5th vertebrae) before the MRI came back and confirmed Emile’s diagnosis. If you are interested in getting to the root of your problem, then getting a plan to get back on track, I highly recommend you book Emile, then go and get an MRI for the heck of it. Fantastic experience: I feel so grateful to have found Emily! She is an excellent PT and she has helped my rotator cuff heal so well. My shoulder was a wreck and I wasn’t sure if I would ever get my range of motion back. I was so impressed with Emily’s expertise and ability to know exactly what bodywork and exercises my shoulder would need to thrive. I always leave feeling encouraged, hopeful, and stronger. Emily is so kind and her positive energy is a joy to be around. I appreciate all of the extra effort, time, and thought that she puts into my treatment program. I highly recommend Emily to everyone!

Fantastic experience: I had a really terrible shoulder injury several years ago. It required multiple surgeries, and my joint function and range of motion at the end of the surgical process wasn't very good. Emily was recommended to me by several other physical therapists, and after just a few sessions, had markedly improved my range of motion and strength. She's deeply knowledgeable, and her approach to mobilization is expert and aggressive. I can't recommend her more enthusiastically.

Daniel Coltrin 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Emily gave me an appointment very quickly - weeks before anybody else would see me. She diagnosed my situation and gave me stretches and exercises that got me going again in a few weeks. She is very knowledgeable, patient and hands-on.
