Hess Physical Therapy -Crafton

Fantastic experience: I’ve never done PT before this experience and I’ve been so impressed. I had a relatively minor hip pain that continued to flare up over months and finally decided to get evaluated. On the day I came in, I wasn’t experiencing any symptoms and felt worried that my issue wasn’t “bad enough” to warrant PT, but the staff took my concerns seriously and identified a few things about my strength and flexibility on my left side that I would never have seen on my own. The manual stretches and home exercises have been nothing short of amazing to help improve my stability and relieve the pain. I did see multiple staff during my time here, which I think isn’t the normal case, but they were all excellent. I would recommend Hess Physical Therapy to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Gage and Lysia are awesome. Definitely have helped me through a lot of my knee and heel pain. Gage is also good at teaching me why certain pain is arising or problematic.

Fantastic experience: I broke my ankle in May and had surgery, plates and screws. I was in a boot and non-weight bearing for six weeks. I'm a Zumba instructor, so I was so frustrated and worried that I would never be able to teach again. During my first appointment at Hess, Dr. Alex asked me what my main goals were for therapy. I said, if possible, I would love to teach Zumba again. He structured my therapy plan to get me to that goal of teaching again. Also, Dr. Alex has some kind of magical powers, because after just one appointment, my swelling was almost gone! The entire staff at Hess are wonderful, from Heidi at the front to the kind interns. I can't thank everyone enough for getting me back to teaching Zumba three days a week. If you need physical therapy, don't go anywhere but Hess. Hess and Dr. Alex are the best!

Fantastic experience: Went in with horrible sciatica. Dr. Gage cured me of my pain. I could barely sit or stand without pain when I began my therapy. Today I am pain free!!! This is my second time using Hess PT for my injuries!!! I hope that I don’t need their services ever again. However, if I do I know who will be taking care of me!!!

Fantastic experience: Alex is the best, I had knots and pain in my neck and shoulder area. After an evaluation Alex came up with a game plan to alleviate my pain and discomfort. After my 8 weeks of physical therapy all the exercises , massages and stretching has helped me tremendously. The atmosphere with the laughter and friendliness of the entire staff makes Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton the place to go for any pt you may need. Thank you Alex your the man

Fantastic experience: So the fact that this place has 5 stars is anything but surprising. The entire staff is absolutely amazing, and the environment in which they work is truly a joy to be a part of. They keep it light and fun there, you can tell they really enjoy their careers and coworkers, and you can see how much the patients enjoy the interactions (also, if you happen to fall asleep in traction, you'll be serenaded awake to songs of all varieties). All in all, when (not if) I am to find myself in need of some groan-inducing "manuals" and other aspects of physical therapy, Hess is the place I'll be heading, and I'll tell everyone else I know to do the same. Unless of course they don't like fun and feeling better. Then they don't get to go and participate in Heidi's jokes or the weekly polls. They can go to some other PT office that won't be as wonderful.

Fantastic experience: This has been my second round of PT at Hess in Crafton for two different issues. I have had maximum pain relief with Tyler as my doctor for both issues. He really works with you for maximum outcome. The other people working there are always so friendly and hardworking, too. Heidi greets you as soon as you come in the door with a smile on her face. Dr. Gage and anyone else that are working there that day are also great. If I ever need PT again, I won't hesitate to go back to Hess in Crafton.

Fantastic experience: The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I felt at home on day one. I get one on one attention and they encourage you to progress but make sure you are not doing anything that will cause harm. It is a very fun place to be while getting some serious rehab. I had physical therapy previously at a different place and the Hess location in Crafton is superior. I definitely did not get the one on one treatment at the other place. I would gladly recommend them to anyone that needs physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: I visited Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton for an injured knee. From my first evaluation through my entire time at Hess's, Dr. Robert (Tyler) Boyd has been wonderful. He is a great listener, motivator, professional and is very knowledgeable. He explains what exercises are needed and how they help me. He has not only focused on my injured knee, but incorporated exercises to strengthen other parts of my leg to set me up for long-term success. From day 1, Dr. Tyler made me feel validated. After various Dr visits and inconclusive tests prior to PT, I greatly appreciated his acknowledgement and awareness of my pain levels and limited mobility. Not only that, but Dr. Tyler is hands on with your exercises, in getting to know you, and in celebrating your successes. Also, Heidi at the front desk set a high bar for my experience from my first call to schedule an appointment - kind, helpful and funny. The camaraderie at the Crafton office is so apparent. Cannot recommend Hess Physical Therapy enough!

Fantastic experience: My doctor sent me for physical therapy and I chose Hess. They were recommended by family members. My left knee was the problem and I really did not think PT would help. I was wrong, thank God. Dr. Tyler evaluated my problem and set up a PT program for me. I was amazed! In 3 weeks my knee had improved to the point of just doing the exercises at home. I would recommend Hess Physical Therapy to anyone that needs PT

Fantastic experience: My experience with Hess PT for my plantar fasciitis has been exceptional. Dr. Tyler offers enthusiasm paired with empathy. I’ve done physical therapy in the past, and it was far less engaging. I’ve looked forward to PT each week, and am kind of sad my sessions are coming to a close. I am very happy to be not be in pain thanks to Dr. Tyler. (and Dr. Gage too!)

Fantastic experience: Amazing Physical Therapy! I have been here twice in the past 3 years for an ankle and knee and there work is unmatched. They all have determination to get you back to where you were before you came in. Easy and flexible scheduling to get you in at the time you need. Not to mention they lighten up my day every time I come in! If you have been thinking about physical therapy this is the place to go!

Fantastic experience: The physical therapists at Hess in Crafton are excellent. The difference in the mobility of my shoulder was amazing after Dr. Tyler attended to me over a two month period.

Fantastic experience: Dr Gage and the Hess team are very knowledgeable and amazing at what they do! I had very bad neck pain, loss of range of motion, and arm weakness and was able to get back to golfing and playing baseball after a couple months of therapy. The staff kept it fun and entertaining and if I need PT in the future I will for sure choose this location.

Fantastic experience: I tore my achilles in May of 2021 and did a long stint of physical therapy with a different practice. After that was finished, I got back into my training and picked up a new martial art - only to realize that I had some lingering weakness and issues caused by the injury. Gage and the staff helped me identify the problem, correct it, and then provided me with new movements and training to mix in with my regimen. Their goal wasn't to keep me there as long as possible, it was to get me healthy and better than I was before. I'm now able to train with no pain, and performing complex movements that I wasn't able to do prior to the injury. Thank you Gage, Tyler, Heidi and the rest of the staff at Hess!!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton Pa for 7 weeks now and I can’t begin to say how amazing everyone is here. From Heidi at the front organizing everything, to both Dr Gage and Dr Tyler and the service and care that they provide. The way that both doctors treat their patients is remarkable. They are caring, kind, funny, patient and most important, extremely knowledgeable in your treatment plan. This place has a very good vibe and positive energy all around. They all help each other and work as a team. I have Dr Gage and Woah!!!! He is AWESOME!!!!!! The only negative thing that I can say is that if you don’t chose to come here for your physical therapy you are missing out on genuine quality care. They go above and beyond. They make your therapy session enjoyable and fun despite the pain. I hope I get another injury so I can come back Lol

Fantastic experience: I had carpal tunnel release surgery and then fell and injured the same hand :/ My doctor prescribed PT for range of motion on that wrist. Dr Gage did a great job of evaluating my wrists, elbows, shoulders to understand that there was more to my case than just a limited wrist range of motion. The extra attention to my underlying issues went a long way towards getting me healthy and back to the sports I enjoy. Plus the rest of the team is friendly, warm, and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Rehab from my meniscus tear was made easy with the knowledge and skills of Dr. Gage in your Crafton office. He had me moving the day after surgery, taught & ensured I understood successful rehab & exercise techniques - and always with smile!! He even taught me how to walk my dog safely - post surgery. All of the staff in the Crafton office were great! Highly recommend Hess for physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: When I arrived at the clinic I was certain that I had self-diagnosed the problem and I was probably headed for surgery. I was not a happy camper! Fortunately, staff members such as Dr. Jess have actually taken anatomy courses and studied hard - and she recognized my symptoms as being congruent with a condition that did not require surgery. She worked to help my body come back into line and relieved the pain after a few sessions. I'm working on learning some new exercises and postures that will help me to maintain this pain-free status. I'm most grateful!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gage was excellent. He explained everything thar was going on and worked with me each appointment to make sure of my progress. Heidi, the office manager was hysterical! The entire staff worked very well together and it made for a great experience. I would recommend to anyone who is in need for PT.

Fantastic experience: After 3 shoulder surgeries and 2 PT offices, I found Hess PT (the Crafton office was closest to me) through a neighbor... I thank him every time I see him. Dr. Jess is THE BEST. She works with me at my pace and pushes me just a little harder each time, and I don't even realize it. She is a very caring person.

Fantastic experience: Competent, caring, convenient, congenial. Knowledgeable. Efficient. On TIME. That ON TIME is a big one for me. You don’t ‘wait’ here. They are super efficient and very friendly. I waited 3 weeks to post so that I had a ‘true’ review to post. I am consistently pleased with every aspect of this practice. From Heidy at the efficient desk to Dr. Tyler whose care plan is making a difference in my significant pain levels to Dr. Gage who greets me daily as if I were his patient. A smooth running operation that makes you feel like you are spending time with friends. Who just happen to be making your needs their priority. As an administrative therapist ( speech / language) myself, I know the ‘back story’ of what it takes to create efficiency in scheduling, flexibility, and ( the bane of existence) paperwork / documentation. They make it look easy - and it’s not.

Fantastic experience: I had trouble getting an appointment at other places so a friend recommended Hess Physical Therapy and they accommodated me immediately. This was one of the best decisions I made. My physical therapist Dr. Tyler is wonderful! He pushes me while maintaining a great sense of humor. Dr. Tyler is very kind and knowledgeable. I ask him a lot of questions and he always takes his time to explain things to me. Dr. Gage is a great physical therapist that has a super funny sense of humor. He is also very knowledgeable and doesn’t mind helping me when needed. Heidi at the front desk is kind and considerate. She is the lynchpin that keeps the office humming and ties it all together. Everyone in this office is like a family. They have made it a great environment to get better. I know I can say after I finish my current therapy this will be a place I will return to when I need PT in the future.

Fantastic experience: After a serious ankle injury and surgery, Hess PT in Crafton helped me get my life back to normal. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Dr. Jess and staff are knowledgeable, encouraging, respectful and provide expert care. Concern for their patients is a priority and I highly recommend this facility for any of your PT needs.

Fantastic experience: I am super grateful to Dr. Jess & the staff at Hess’s! I have suffered with back pain from scoliosis for many years now. I have hardware in my back from surgery that did correct my curve almost 25 years ago, however as I have gotten older daily tasks has become a burden because of the pain. My back doctor suggested physical therapy a few times but I honestly didn’t think I would benefit from it so never went until recently. I’m so glad I did. The knowledge and care from Dr. Jess & Dan has tremendously decreased my back pain on a day-to-day basis. Now it’s just on me to keep up on the stretches, exercises, & occasional massages from Dan ;) Thank you to Dr. Jess, Dan, and all the staff at Hess Physical Therapy!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jess and Dr. Gage are so dedicated in helping their patients. I’ve been working at Hess Physical Therapy for a couple months now and I watch both of them work on tons of patients and I see how compassionate they are for each and every one of them. They do absolutely everything they can to help a patient. I don’t think I’ve seen any patients that have the same exercises because they make each of them so unique to the patients needs. Next year I am going to college to become a Physical Therapist. Dr. Jess and Dr. Gage have taught me so much that will help me during my schooling the next couple years. Not only am I working at Hess Physical Therapy but I’ve also been a patient there as well. About 4 years ago I was in the most pain I’ve ever been in and nothing seemed to help I found out I had a rib out of place and went to see Dr. Jess. After only 3 visits I felt extremely better and could do everything again pain and discomfort free.

Fantastic experience: I am a student physical therapist assistant and I spent my first 10 week rotation here at Hess in Crafton. The staff and especially my CI, Dan were wonderful to work with and to learn from. I have been able to absorb a lot of information and I had a lot of fun with my time spent here. I highly recommend this facility to anyone needing therapy or any student looking for a fun and experience-rich environment to learn. It really feels like family here at Hess.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but good things to say about the therapists and my experience at Hess Physical Therapy! They create a very welcoming environment. Dr. Gage helped me so much throughout my rehabilitation process and I couldn't be more thankful for him. He is supportive and advocates for his patients when needed. 10/10 would recommend! Fantastic experience: I have been to numerous Physical Therapy Facilities in the past, but this ones the best. Dr. Jess was the only one to figure out what was going on with my shoulder. After going through 2 sets of Physical Therapy at other places that ripped my arm apart. I had a frozen shoulder and needed to be eased into Therapy because of the pain I was dealing with over 7 months. I can now use my arm and the environment there and people are wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I started at Hess Physical Therapy about two months ago and as a person who is unfamiliar with the Pittsburgh area, I chose this office based on the good reviews. It turns out, I am extremely happy with my decision. Following knee surgery, Dr. Gage has greatly contributed to my rehabilitation with his knowledge, skills, and (corny) jokes. His therapy is very patient-centered and he goes above and beyond to help patient's meet their goals. I am very grateful for my experience at Hess PT and I would definitely recommend! :)

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank all of the wonderful people who work at Hess Physical Therapy from the receptionist to the students who job shadow and the therapist's for taking great care of me. They never fail to make you feel like the most important person they are treating. I had a very bad accident that made it difficult to walk without severe pain. Dr. Jess got me from barely able to walk to running around with my daughter and coaching softball again. So if ur in need of physical therapy or would just like to become pain free call Hess and ask for Jess.

Fantastic experience: I went to Hess Therapy with lower back pain. Dr. Ian, Dr. Meghan and Dan were very helpful in getting me back to where I am able to perform my daily activities without the severe pain I started with. The advice given upon discharge will enable me to stay strong and maintain. All the staff is great and I would highly recommend if physical therapy is needed!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this site to anyone who needs physical therapy. The entire staff was very cordial and helpful at all stages of my recuperation. Dr. Ian is a skilled therapist who help me regain my physical strength after knee replacement surgery. He answered all my questions thoroughly and with great patience! He lead me through the exercises and encouraged me throughout my time at Hess. I am so pleased with my recovery and give much of the credit to Dr. Ian.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jess is absolutely WONDERFUL! I was her student physical therapist for 8 weeks, and I loved every minute of my experience. She and the other staff members at Hess PT treat each patient like they are family. Dr. Jess truly cares about her patients, and she does EVERYTHING that she can to make sure each patient leaves their session feeling better than when they walked in the door. She is someone you can trust with your care. I highly recommend Dr. Jess!

Fantastic experience: I initially started at Hess after knee replacement surgery last January. Unfortunately my orthopedic doctor did not prescribe physical therapy until about 2 weeks after the surgery. When I started at Hess at that time I was introduced to Dr. Ian. I can honestly say he was a miracle worker in getting my knee to where it is now. I then had problems with my right shoulder and arm so we began a new treatment for those - slight tear in rotator cuff, arthritis and bursitis. Again Dr. Ian was able to get it so that I do not have constant pain - so after almost a year at Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton I was released. I enjoyed my workouts there - even though they were painful at times. I especially appreciated all the employees at the Crafton location - from Diane who was always so friendly, to Kelly who gave great massages, to Dr. Megan who filled in a few times for Dr. Ian and for Darlene who was a great help in a lot of areas. But Dr. Ian was a Godsend - he was a great listener and comforter when I was frustrated or overwhelmed. In summary, I would not hesitate recommending Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton. That is why they all deserve 5 Stars.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Hess physical therapy was great! Doctor Helsig and his assistants Megan and Dan were awesome also! I explained to Dr.Helsig about the necessity of then strength I require to do my job and he configured a program that was excellent and allow me to return to work with full confidence! They were always positive, Encouraging, and extremely thoughtful always providing helpful suggestions! There's not enough room for me to write about all the wonderful things I experienced attending here to be rehabilitated, but I must say that if (and I hope I don't), Ever need to have or attend physical therapy sessions, this is where I would come! I am so happy with my experience here I have recommended it to several coworkers who have attended and he had the same glowing comments and family! Fantastic experience: Staff knowledgeable and friendly Appointments are on time. Dr. Ian gave me excellent care along with the rest of the staff. When I originally came here I thought for sure was gonna need rotator cuff surgery. My shoulder is 80% better than the day I walked in the door. I would recommend for anyone to try physical therapy first before having surgery.

Fantastic experience: I came to Hess PT for pain in my knee. After a course of therapy with Dr Ian strengthening my leg muscles, I didn’t have the pain any more. When my other knee started acting up, I didn’t hesitate to call Dr Ian and do another course of therapy. The staff at Hess is wonderful! You get very personal attention and excellent treatment, don’t suffer with pain!

Fantastic experience: Hess Physical Therapy’s Crafton office is an excellent place to seek rehabilitation. Dr. Meghan is a very knowledgeable physical therapist! She was able to make an accurate diagnosis and explained it in a way that’s easy to understand. Thanks to her and the team I feel confident that my lower back issues are gone. Fantastic experience: Dr. Ian helped me tremendously. I had severely torn two of four rotator cuff tendons in March. Dr. Ian and P.T. Assistant Kelly were tremendously thorough and dedicated to my recovery. I have regained full range of motion and most strength. I’ll finish exercising at home to get full strength. All employees are professional and kind. I recommend Dr. Ian, Dr. Meghan, Kelly, and Front Desk person Diane for your P.T. needs. You’ll be pleased.

Fantastic experience: I started with Hess because I had left side paralysis after having a stroke. I was so pleased with the personalized treatment plan to help me reach my personal goals. Dr. Sean and Dr. Meghan were always so friendly and made the experience fun. I am so pleased with my recovery, it's better than I expected. I went from wearing a giant leg brace to being able to run, and having no movement in my left arm when I started, but full range of motion when I finished. I would reccomend Hess to anyone needing Physical therapy.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to post my rehab journey with Hess PT - Crafton. I am an RN with a lot knowledge & expectations how rehab post knee surgery should be. I decided on Hess PT after much research on yelp, other reviews and it was an excellent decision! Debbie was wonderful explaining the insurance processes with me & kept me updated throughout PT so there were no surprises. Though I am a RN I am still a patient and had fears the same as most, with pain and will I be able to do what I was doing before. I did have one complication from the MD side of things that set me back and it was very scary. But Dr. Ian and PTA Kelly supported me the entire way! Their professionalism, knowledge and ongoing support really got me through it all! It was also suggested to try Light Force Laser Therapy and it was a Godsend! The laser helped tremendously to get me back on track, I was able to meet all my goals and then some. All the staff was just amazing and cannot thank them enough for the laughs and pizza suggestions! Thank you all again!

Fantastic experience: I spent several months receiving therapy for a knee injury. This is my first time received PT. So thankful a friend on mine recommended Hess Physical Therapy in Crafton. Dr. Ian is wonderful! My knee feels 100% better now thanks to him! This is also a convenient location.

Fantastic experience: I was impressed on every level with the care I received at Hess. I spent a significant amount of time there this year - for two different injuries. With a badly broken arm, I was apprehensive about handling physical therapy and totally unaware of what it would entail. But from day one, Dr. Meghan put me at ease with her positive attitude, calm demeanor and professional skills. She gently encouraged me as I progressed, was patient when I wasn't, and exhibited a high level of expertise that enabled me to regain full use of my arm. The rest of the staff members were also very competent and pleasant. Diane was always flexible about setting up appointments, which always started on time. I have recommended Hess to three friends who are just as pleased with the care they received there. I feel fortunate to have such an excellent facility in my community.

Fantastic experience: This was the second time I needed rehabilitation for an ankle injury, this time after surgery. I worked with Dr. Ian and had a great experience. My ankle is the strongest it’s been since my initial injury over a year ago. Dr. Ian is a great listener, very patient and made sure I understood the process the entire way through. He was encouraging and handled my therapy according to what was best for me personally. I’ve already recommended him to a co-worker and will happily give his name out again.

Fantastic experience: I suffered with plantar fasciitis for awhile before finding out from a neighbor who was going to Meghan for physical therapy that there was, indeed, physical therapy treatment for it. After a thorough evaluation of my condition, Meghan welcomed me and assured me that she could help me to reduce the pain in my foot. She was always calm and patient and explained everything she was doing and asking me to do. She was always encouraging and positive. All the staff were encouraging and compassionate. Diane, the secretary, is so efficient and kept me on schedule and informed of my treatments. I am very grateful to have come to Hess - I enjoy their friendship and most capable care.

Fantastic experience: When you go to Hess everyone is extremely pleasant, courteous and friendly( Diane, Dar, Sean and Meghan) which makes visits enjoyable. My therapist Sean is very knowledgeable, has a great personality and is very devoted to his job and patients. I have been treated by Sean on a couple of different occasions for my back and shoulder. Sean helped me get my back in check and showed me exercises to do to strengthen my core and back muscles. Sean is always ready to help you and answer any questions you have. Sean is the very best !! I would definitely recommend Hess for your physical therapy needs. Thank you !

Fantastic experience: First, I was so happy that the facility was so conveniently located. I hate driving!. Parking was also free. Once inside, you are greeted by very friendly and helpful people, right from the receptionist to the physical therapist. I attended the Crafting office and Diane was so wonderful and accomodating. I also loved Sean and near the end Dan. Dan really made me work to reach my goal. The concern that the staff showed for my physical well being was genuine and refreshing. Sometimes I did not feel like going to my sessions but would force myself to go. Once there I was always glad that I made myself go. I felt so much better after a good "workout". An added benefit to Hess Physical Therapy are the news letters. I really look forward every month to those news letters. They are full of helpful and fun information and I love finding the misspelled words. If I ever, ever need physical therapy, Hess Physical Therapy is the only place I will go.
