Pivot PT- Pittsburgh (Point Breeze): Reviews
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Pivot enough. I was terrified I was going to need surgery after an injury that hadn't healed in months. Everyone on staff was very helpful and pleasant, and a special thank you to Jenna, who I primarily worked with. She kept the exercises challenging and fun, and after only 6 weeks I was able to return to a normal life with normal levels of activity. This is by far the best (of 3) physical therapy practice I have been to
Fantastic experience: Jenna and her team are so amazing, I couldn’t be happier with the rehab they provided. I had tendonitis and other ailments in my foot and ankle when I first started with Jenna and her team. I was limping and had pain when walking yet they were able to coach me through to ultimately finishing a marathon. I really appreciate their expertise, patience, and kindness. With each week I felt better and better and graduated with a toolbox of methods to stay injury free. In the past it was difficult for me to commit to PT because of the time it takes but Jenna and her team helped me feel dedicated to the journey and were flexible with my schedule. I’m so grateful I landed at this Pivot locations. Thank you!!!
Fantastic experience: James and his team is really professional and dedicated to treat my symptoms, appreciate all the hard work!
Fantastic experience: Went here for back, shoulder and hip pain due to excessive computer use. After a couple months the pain was mostly gone. James was very quick at identifying the problems, and was very pragmatic with the advice and techniques he gave. Physical therapy always involves take-home exercises but James gives targeted, quick things you can do which are achievable and respectful of your time. As long as you do the exercises you will get better The atmosphere is also very nice. Chatter among the staff and patients is common as you work through your exercises. I'll miss coming here!
Fantastic experience: Pivot PT has been amazing. Everyone who works there is welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for better people to help me recover from ACL reconstruction.
Fantastic experience: Not only do the know what they are doing , they are kind and encouraging. The facility is large, clean, not too noisy. I would recommend to anyone looking for Pt. My latest visit was because of a concussion Kate Kennedy
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Pivot physical therapy after my experience there. I used direct access after experiencing sudden back pain from a workout. James not only helped me recover quickly; he is also kind, friendly and witty. He was attentive to my progress and provided lots of feedback on my performance of the exercises, and tips for self-care. The atmosphere there is pleasant and warm. Best of all, he discharged me promptly when I was ready. As much as I enjoyed my time there, I do have other things to do. I hope I never need PT again, but if I do, it will be straight back to Pivot.
Fantastic experience: I saw James here for knee problems and he and all the staff here were great. Friendly atmosphere and great therapy. I will be back if I need physical therapy again.
Fantastic experience: James and the crew at pivot are great. After working with James a fee of the students my knees have never felt better. I can't say enough good things about them they are all amazing people.
Fantastic experience: I tell all of my friends and family to go see James at Pivot in Point Breeze when they complain of an ailment that needs PT attention! He was incredibly kind, encouraging, and resourceful. I was spared back surgery from my time here!
Fantastic experience: Hi today is my last day with Pivot and when I first came I was in so much pain I couldn’t walk or sit on my left side My therapist James was great when I was in pain he didn’t push me I have been coming to Pivot every time I need Therapy I Highly recommend Pivot to any one I really like the people who are very friendly and nice I definitely will be back if I need Therapy
Fantastic experience: I sprained my MCL and then made it worse by pretending it wasn’t injured. James was great in coaching me through an extended recovery process. I didn’t just need guidance on exercises/sets/reps, I needed someone to point out the progress I was making when I felt hopeless, and to give me ideas for things I could do rather than focusing on what I couldn’t. Got all of that, very grateful. Conveniently located a couple of blocks from my climbing gym, where most of my injuries occur. Will be back next time.
Fantastic experience: I came to Pivot in Point Breeze with tendinitis in one heel. The team headed by James and including Seth, Enoch and several others were friendly, caring and easy to talk to. They shared information about my treatment in ways I could understand. Every visit started with “How was your weekend?” so that I knew everyone felt invested in me as a person. I hope never to go back, but if I needed to I wouldn’t hesitate.
Fantastic experience: Without the help of Pivot I’m unsure how I would have recovered physically and emotionally from a right ACL tear. They were there for me from pre op, through surgery, and post op guiding me with exercises, tips, and support. The whole staff is amazing and caring and gets you where you need to go, working closely with your personal goals. Jenna is truly the best and runs an amazing clinic.
Fantastic experience: Words cannot describe how much this physical therapy clinic has done for me. I had prehab before surgery for a synovial cyst on my spine. This was from June of 2022 until March of 2023. After surgery I had rehab until my goals were met. My therapist, James was the most caring and compassionate person. He is professional and methodical. I am very sad to leave the staff and James. I have and would recommend this place 1000%.
Fantastic experience: Where do I even begin? I had gotten into a car accident back in June of 2022 and ended up having a herniated disc in my neck. I made an appointment with Pivot PT and it was one of the best things I did. I went from having limited neck movement with pain, numbness and tingling down my arm, headaches and dizziness with head turns, to now where I am just about at my baseline. It took me several months of hard work, PT, and home exercises to get to the point where I am comfortable driving for several hours without symptoms, able to get through a whole movie without having a headache, able to turn my head without getting dizzy. The staff here are absolutely wonderful and they truly care about their patients. From the front desk receptionist Lydia, PT tech Noelle, and PTs Jenna and James. Jenna was my PT from the beginning to end and my biggest supporter! We have had countless laughters from stories shared but also got down to business. She definitely pushed me to where I am today but also made sure I was comfortable with the exercises that were added or with the difficulty levels. The entire staff has been a part of my success as I completed PA school, studied for my boards (and passed), and now as I relocate back home. I truly wish that we had met under different circumstances but glad I met everyone nonetheless. Although I am sad to say goodbye to everyone, I 100000% recommend coming here for your treatment! They will not disappoint!
Fantastic experience: I worked with James on patellar tendonitis that I developed while doing jumping exercises. He identified the underlying causes (certain areas of muscle weakness, technique, flexibility), and asked me what my goals of PT were (to be able to do jumping exercises again without pain). I felt supported and that all of the work we were doing was directly supporting my goals. We had about 8 sessions of personalized exercises, as well as a daily at-home routine. He clearly cares deeply about his patients, and wants them to achieve their goals. I looked forward to my sessions every week! Can't recommend Pivot Pt Breeze enough.
Fantastic experience: I have only positive things to say about Pivot PT! For one, they were able to get me in much faster than UPMC physical therapy and their billing system is much easier to use. I started working with James specifically back in February when my chronic neck and upper back pain became too painful to ignore. I am a Latin dancer on a performance team and it was imperative that my PT treatment plan still allow me to continue practicing and dancing regularly. James was very understanding of my priorities and his plan enabled me to make steady progress to being not only pain-free but also stronger than I've ever been. My dance technique has even improved because of physical therapy! I worked with him again this past month to address some acute knee pain. I was able to do Direct Access and I'm just about ready to be discharged after just a few sessions. Once again James was able to scaffold the stretches and strengthening exercises to meet me at my current ability and lead me to a point of being much stronger and more stable in my knee and hip. In addition to being a fantastic physical therapist, James is also fun and great to talk to. I also appreciate all of the Pivot PT staff for their friendly and professional demeanor and highly recommend anyone who needs physical therapy to come here.
Fantastic experience: I had the fortune of meeting James and the supporting staff at Pivot after a lower back muscle sprain and consistent pain which was physically limiting for me. For context, I have been an active individual who works out 5-6 times a week. During the 3 weeks of PT with James, I was able to work on tools to strengthen my back and hips (which as it turned out, were also in bad shape) and get back to training for my first Marathon this Sunday. The staff is very professional and keep the maintain the area to the highest standards of hygiene. I am very grateful to the knowledgeable and highly competent staff working at Pivot for getting me up and running to train for my marathon. PS : James is also a very wholesome person and fun to talk to as well! He also helped me get my hands on a cheap registration for the marathon!
Fantastic experience: Although this is a busy location, the staff were very accommodating and professional. I worked with 2 different therapists while I was being treated and they Both demonstrated excellent understanding of the treatments I needed and how to promote healing and progress. In addition, the receptionist is very helpful and cheerful. Great atmosphere and nice facility.
Fantastic experience: Convenient location (Point Breeze). Great hours. Free parking is a bonus! Friendly and knowledgeable staff from the receptionist desk to the gym area. And James is the coolest! Janelle and Diane were super great as well!
Fantastic experience: After 66 years of abuse, my hip finally gave out and in 6 short weeks these magicians have shaved years of pain off it. Pivot feels like a friendly village, my team of Jenna, Snizhana and Logan are skilled, kind and encouraging. I recommend 100%. UPDATE: Just came back for my third experience with Pivot in 3.5 years. With the addition of James to the crew since my last episode, Pivot remains a crew of talented and encouraging practitioners. I continue to recommend 100%!
Fantastic experience: Had my bicep re-attached in January of '22. Started going to Pivot the week after surgery when I was out of my arm sling. James was very methodical and thorough with my recovery process, making sure I was gaining back my range of motion, mobility and strength before moving up in weight and resistance bands. The entire staff at Pivot Point Breeze was always very helpful and made me feel like a welcomed patient. I completed physical therapy and I was and am back to my normal activities. Thank you James, and Pivot.
Fantastic experience: Jenna Degory came highly recommended to me by my PT friend, so I started PT at Pivot in January. My goal with PT was being able to get back into running. I had a bunion surgery in Nov 2020 and ever since then my foot had been giving me trouble - so I was pretty discouraged and remembered verbalizing to her on the first day “is this even possible/safe for me to run anymore?” She said absolutely and we got to work. It was very rigorous and she gave me exercises to strengthen my whole leg, and my mobility and toe function slowly really did begin to improve. She always spent a lot of time with me and would check in and work on my foot and make sure I was still feeling okay. She taught me about cadence and exercises to strengthen the whole leg, not just focusing on my toe. I was able to start trial running again in early and was actually last weekend strong enough to complete my BIG goal of finally running the whole Pittsburgh Half Marathon!! And my foot has felt the best it’s felt since I had to get surgery. I owe so much to Jenna, and I am so so grateful to her and the whole team at Pivot. Everyone was always so welcoming, professional, and supportive and it’s such a great environment to be able to truly heal and strengthen in. I’d recommend (already have recommended, actually) Jenna to anyone, but especially if you’re a RUNNER!! Thanks again, Jenna! :)
Fantastic experience: I'm getting physical therapy for my ankle sprain. Very happy with this place and would recommend it for my friends. There is plenty of parking space. The staff is very friendly, educated, thorough, and professional. Also, my appointments always start on time.
Fantastic experience: This was my second time going to Pivot PT and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. James is a super knowledgeable and caring person and was a huge help in my recovery after collarbone surgery. He also came in clutch with some great restaurant recommendations!
Fantastic experience: I had an awesome experience getting physical therapy here. James and Jenna were both a pleasure to work with. I got much more personalized attention here than I have at other physical therapy facilities in the past. Would strongly consider going out of my way to come back here if I ever needed physical therapy in the future. Definitely recommend the great team at Pivot!
Fantastic experience: TLDR: Excellent PT, great for climbers and other specialized sports I've been to a lot of PTs in my time (dislocated my shoulder dozens of times, including post surgery), and this place is one of the best thanks to Jenna and team. I went here after developing an overuse injury from bouldering/climbing too frequently. Thanks to Jenna I was able to continue climbing effectively while pursuing my therapy program. She didn't have specific climbing experience (in that she wasn't an avid climber lol) but knew exactly how to integrate my climbing training and therapy. Climbing trains the fingers and shoulders in ways that most sports do not, and most climbers are nursing multiple overuse injuries at the same time. Jenna graciously helped me through multiple injuries and problem areas during my time here. Also the front office was great as well. They made scheduling and payments really easy.
Fantastic experience: Long review here but that's because I can't sing enough praises for the team at Pivot (Point Breeze). Physical therapy has been a highlight and a major contributor to my recovery from lower back pain--I feel stronger and more supported now than I did last time the flare-up happened. 10/10 would recommend. For context, I had a repeat nerve-related flare-up in my lower back in the middle of a squat jump that prevented me from getting out of my house for 2-3 days, and through word of mouth and a ton of nudging from loved ones I came here. The insurance process went smoothly with Lydia and the other staff members' support. Jenna, Alice, and the team quickly assessed my needs, gave me an exercise plan with some AMAZING stretches, and got me from a jelly lower back to doing full squats and lunges again in the span of 5 weeks (3 days a week--not that there's a "timeline" that anyone has to meet). I won't write a treatise here but some things that stood out to me: Jenna was very strategic in progressing my exercises (especially knowing that I get bored easily haha). Alice helped me realize my habit of overworking some muscles in my core exercises. Shout-out to Snizhana--the one morning that we worked together, your massage made me feel like I had a new back installed. Importantly, everyone on the team taught me habits of mind and body that will help me recover and manage my relationship with lower back pain in the long run. The general atmosphere is kind and supportive--I never felt judged or rushed during my time with Pivot. If anything, I felt connected to the therapists and staff at Pivot and some of the clients whom I shared the hour with too :D. Everyone went above and beyond: I'm graduating from physical therapy a bit early because I have to be away for a long time, and Jenna prepared a long list of exercises and some suggestions for how to progress so I have a plan for my time away. *wipes tears* To sum it up: 1) Physical therapy helps (including for nerve pain, please consider it, take me as a case study). 2) Pivot Point Breeze is awesome and makes physical therapy fun! 3) Thank you Jenna, Alice, Lydia, and the rest of the team~ seriously.
Fantastic experience: The physical therapists at Pivot are knowledgeable and personable. They have a keen eye and are able to explain what is going on post surgery. I would recommend them to all!
Fantastic experience: Jenna Degory is an amazing Physical Therapist! I had back pain for years and nothing worked… until Jenna. She is knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. I went from chronic back pain and leg numbness to running 5ks regularly. She’s also helped me with wrist and elbow injuries. The location and staff are also great - clean, friendly, well-run. All-round excellent place that really helps people feel better :) Thank you Jenna!!
Fantastic experience: James Hill was a great Physical Therapist. He was very helpful with getting my knee stronger. Giving me exercises that weren't too strenuous to do but very effective. All the staff was kind and very professional. I would absolutely recommend this facility.
Fantastic experience: My 1st physical therapy appointment was great! James is the Best! He provided Excellent physical therapy and liste8to me and explained thoroughly everything I needed to know and what to expect! Made me feel Welcomed and that is to me A very important part in my regaining strength to the injures I abstained due to the car accident. I Highly Recommend this place!
Fantastic experience: James is an outstanding PT, and I'm very grateful for all his help during my post-surgery ACL rehab. He treats the whole person, focusing on important life and functional goals, not just body part movements. He gives you personalized attention, even when you think he's not looking. The support staff is great, too. I highly recommend James and the staff at this Pivot location.
Fantastic experience: I saw Jenna at Pivot Point Breeze for about 3 months for plantar fasciitis. Jenna was knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging as she helped me work through my condition. I can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. Overall, Pivot is a very clean and welcoming place with friendly staff. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I selected Pivot Physical Therapy because my mother had such a good experience with Jenna. I also had a wonderful experience. James was my PT and he was knowledgeable, caring, supportive, and a delight to work with. I have been to different PT facilities in support of family members. Pivot - Pt. Breeze stands out as being especially personal and caring as they work to help you get stronger.
Fantastic experience: TL;DR - If you need physical therapy, this is the place to go. Everyone you interact with is kind, helpful, and understanding. You will be challenged but not pushed, and it will all be for your betterment. I had never had any physical therapy experience before I had my ACL replacement surgery and was nervous about starting. However, everyone on the Pivot staff was very helpful and clear about explaining the process and working with me. My physical therapist, James Hill, helped me understand what we would be doing, the timeline of my recovery, and how the excersizes would get me back to 100%. Due to the nature of my injury, I had to spend a lot of time doing PT in those initial months post-op. During that time I saw James and the other Pivot doctors work with people from all walks of life, dealing with all sorts of injuries, everyone was treated with the utmost respect and kindness. This team fosters an energy of community and support among everyone being treated. When I had to deal with my health insurance company being confusing and unhelpful, the Pivot team worked with me to understand what was happening and their experience with this side of healthcare was invaluable to me. I felt I was given the attention and instruction I needed whether the place was empty or full while I was there. In addition to the support and direction James offered, he is also a terribly fun and chatty guy. He is able to read the energy of the person he's helping and if they're receptive: then they are in for a lot of friendly chatter. I appreciated this as someone who does not have much experience with physical activity, it was a helpful distraction from the excersizes. It's easy to build a rapport with James, making going to physical therapy something that you might even look forward to, or at the very least- you don't have to dread. Overall, my experience with this Pivot team was 10/10 and I would (and will) recommend them to anyone who needs physical therapy in Pittsburgh.
Fantastic experience: I had a hip replacement and was still using a cane, only walking short distances, and certainly not back to work when I began seeing James for PT. When I filled out the questionnaire at the beginning, next to the line asking how easily I could do squats I wrote “ha ha.” Squats seemed totally out of my league, along with so many other things. After a month of PT I felt like I had my life back, resuming work and going for walks. And I can do squats! I no longer use my cane at all. I highly recommend James as a PT and the whole Pivot team. The atmosphere is upbeat and it feels like a small community or a party. It is an atmosphere I haven’t experienced at different PT places. James has his eye and attention everywhere at once and manages to also give individual attention. You always know he has an eye on you even if he is working with someone else. But you also know he pays good attention when he is working with you. It’s an impressive achievement.
Fantastic experience: I just finished physical therapy with Jenna and I cannot express what a pleasure it was! I had a short timeframe to get back on my feet and was able to see visible improvements each session. Jenna was informative and handled my case with care and attention. I will definitely use this location again if I need any additional PT (hopefully I won't need any). Thank you Jenna and team!
Fantastic experience: Pivot is a welcoming, well equipped, and clean facility that employs a knowledgeable and friendly staff. I decided to try physical therapy after dealing with back pain and poor posture for many years. At the end of my 3 month treatment, my pain was reduced by 70% and I had a clear understanding oh what was required in terms specific exercises and lifestyle choices in order to continue to progress on my own. James Hill (PT, DPT) is an experienced, skillful, and attentive therapist who designs a personalized curriculum that produces immediate results. He takes a great interest in the lives of his patients and very much loves improving their lives through physical therapy.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this location for 9 months following a surgical complication which caused me to lose the use of both my arms (C-5 Palsy). I have personally worked with both Jenna and James and have been in a position to observe Sarah with her patients as well;. All of the Physical Therapists are exceptionally knowledgeable, caring and professional. Though I still have a long road ahead (perhaps 1.5 years) before I know what all will be recovered, I am confident that I would not have made near the progress that i have without this great team. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who has any physical therapy needs.
Fantastic experience: I 100% recommend Pivot!!!!! I dislocated my kneecap a couple months ago and honestly thought it wouldn't get better. When I started physical therapy I was not at all optimistic but I couldn't do much for myself so I gave it a try. My therapist James and the assistant Sadie were absolutely AMAZING! They give you the tools you need and encourage you the entire way. They always made me feel comfortable and reassured me that I would get better. After 2 short months, I can do everything I did before I hurt my knee. The staff at Pivot show they care not just for their patients but our families as well. I am forever grateful and highly recommend Pivot for your PT needs ❤
Fantastic experience: I just completed about 2 1/2 months of physical therapy at this location and I am very happy with the results. I came in with acute pain in my hip that made me think a joint replacement might be the only solution. I worked with James and learned so much about my condition and how to build the strength I needed to get better. I have also worked with Jenna and Sarah pre-pandemic. All of the physical therapists there are outstanding. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: My experiences with Pivot Physical Therapy (Point Breeze) have been fantastic with helping me fully recover from my injuries! I injured my shoulder & wrist from my fitness routines and found Pivot online. Jenna is an incredible physical therapist who not only knows her practice but is truly passionate about helping people in their paths to physical restoration. The sessions were consistent and always helpful. Also, highly recommended for those who are intimidated by the process of seeing a physical therapist (which was me a year ago).
Fantastic experience: I worked with Jenna Daly to learn ways to loosen my leg muscles and exercises to strengthen those around my knee where I was starting to feel the pain of arthritis. She was not only the nicest person to work with, but also excellent at identifying the issues, answering my questions, and giving me a workout that I could put into my own routine for continued use at home. I highly recommend her!
Fantastic experience: As a returning patient to this Pivot Physical Therapy Location, I must say that I am very pleased with this facility. The Staff is Very Friendly Welcoming and Dedicated to meeting your Specific Physical Therapy Needs, in addition to providing Positive and Encouraging Feedback regarding your treatment/progress in helping you to meet your goals in maintaining and restoring your body’s function back to normal and sustainable mobility. One of the Main Focuses we all should consider/remember as far as Physical Therapy Treatments and restoring/returning your body’s normal function/s is that your end result not only depends upon your Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Treatments, and your Physical Therapy Success, also includes your Positive Physical Mental Attitude toward reaching and achieving your Goals. In my opinion, Pivot Physical Therapy has been My Go To Place when I needed Quality Professional and Successful Results! Finally, I wish to extend to all of the Staff at The 7501 Penn Avenue, Suite 3, Pittsburgh, PA 15208 Location, my Sincere Appreciation and Gratitude In helping me reach my Goals, now as well as in the past! Thank you Thank you Thank you, you are an Absolutely Awesome and Amazing Group!
Fantastic experience: Everyone at Pivot is very knowledgeable, kind, and supportive. I felt confused and overwhelmed when the concussion doctor prescribed physical therapy after someone rear ended me. The next available appointment through my health insurance was 2 months away. When I called Pivot, they scheduled me for the next day. Their flexible scheduling allowed me to work full-time and recover from my concussion. When I was having a bad symptom day, Jenna helped to remind me it was because of the concussion and that I was making progress towards recovery. You can tell that all the staff is committed to helping patients feel better and supporting them individually.
Fantastic experience: I attended Pivot Physical Therapy for about 6 months (~40 sessions) post a meniscus repair surgery. Let's start with the staff which is super awesome, polite, patient and helpful (especially with my constant re-scheduling and cancellations). If you can't drive, they offer a very convenient van service with very polite and punctual drivers. Finally, the therapists are great and work as a team. My primary therapist was Jenna Daly. Helping the patient follow a predefined exercise routine is one thing. Jenna went much beyond that by constantly adjusting the extent of exercise in tandem with my natural recovery speed, work schedule, short-term apprehensions and long-term goals. Very happy with what I achieved over 6 months, and would unequivocally recommend!!
Fantastic experience: When I started my PT I was struggling with back, knee and hip pain. My knee weakness was pretty significant and chronic and honestly I wasn't confident about how much could be done to get it back to a more functional state. I started working with Jenna and what a wonderful experience it has been. Jenna is very skilled at what she does and my knee continues to gain strength with the treatment plan she has designed. Such a wonderful, compassionate and competent staff. I feel so fortunate to have them! Special shout out to Logan, the PT student who worked with us for the past two months. He will have a successful future as a PT.
Fantastic experience: Very Professional on PT. I went in really hurting and came out feeling great. All the staff; Jenna, Snizhana, Kyle, Daniel and Erica were very nice and it was good to see how all of them work as a team together. They taught me a lot of exercises to do at home! They were very patient and knowledgeable. I believe I was assigned to Jenna, however, I did work with all of them. The facility was nice and very appropriate equipment for anything that is wrong. The location is very convenient and there is plenty of parking. If you don't drive, they will pick you up and take you back within 3 miles.
