Hampton care center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: In to visit a loved one. The staff was very pleasant & approachable. My brother is really participating in his care. Highly recommend this facility.
Positive experience: My mother stayed at this facility for three weeks, from the end of April to the middle of May. When she arrived, she had no mobility on her left side, but she left having achieved all her goals set by Kaiser and even surpassed them. She made remarkable progress, being able to walk short distances with minimal assistance, improved her swallowing and speech significantly. For the most part, the staff was kind and helpful, although there was one day when my mother had a complaint about an LVN she didn't like. Was resolved pretty quickly. While I wouldn't say it's the absolute best option available, esp. without knowing how it compares, I wouldn't discourage people from sending their loved one or their own self here for help. Granted, my mother was here for short term rehab care. Not long term living. Amazing staff in general from everyone I've interacted with, with Emile and C.J. at the front desk, Cherry in case management, Dr. Dizon through very thorough calls and KP messages. Love Alvin!! Everest and Deaujone Heard were among the best, absolutely enjoyed working with them so much. We had a great experience with them—they were kind, caring, and attentive to every detail. I trusted them immensely. CNA Linda was always prompt in addressing any needs and went above and beyond to be helpful. She was my mother's favorite. I interacted with many more staff members, although I can't recall all their names. One of them had great eyeshadow and was very sweet. I am grateful for all of them. The physical therapy and occupational therapy sessions were great. I was able to join my mother during her sessions and receive updates afterward if I wanted. They helped me feel confident about bringing her home and ensured I had all the necessary equipment. I enjoyed working with Siyad and three other staff members whose names I can't remember. Equipment was well off too, seemed to have proper care and frequent sessions of all disciplines. I only met Jasmine from Speech once, but she was amazing. My mother had nothing but raving reviews to say about her. Food was whatever, couldn't comment on it because my mom was on puree cardio/diabetic diet 99% of the time there until the last day. Would recommend trying to get involved and visit every so often if possible to make sure your loved one is receiving the experience they need. Minor mishaps over medications, but nothing isolated to this care center. Would happen in any case when someone has such a complex situation. Call lights sometimes needed some prompting from calling the front desk, my mom saying it took 45+ minutes to get someone to come which I have no reference to other SNFs to know if that was good or bad. However, there were a couple of downsides. Upon admission, my mother's room had a call light that wasn't working for more than 24 hours, and despite assurances, she wasn't provided with a bell. Additionally, she experienced a fall early on which went unrecorded. She got out of bed, fell to the ground, suffered swelling to her head, and a cut that bled significantly. We were not informed of the incident until her external primary care physician was notified, and I received a call asking me to take her to the hospital. I immediately contacted the facility, spoke to the charge nurse, and was assured that Dr. Dizon was aware of the incident, my mother was fine, and proper protocols were in place. Made it sound like she had just struck her head someone from inside the bed. However, it wasn't until 24 hours later that I received a call from Dr. Dizon, who expressed her surprise at learning about the fall. She stated that there was no documentation of the incident and immediately arranged for my mother to be transported down the road to St. Joseph's have a CT scan at the hospital. There were 2 separate COVID exposures at the care facility, and masks were re-mandated towards the end of her stay for visitors and staff. Roommate was fine. I want to urge Windsor to improve their staffing ratios for better care, as always.
