Our comment from PhysioFinder.net about Bridgeport Hospital:
Bridgeport Hospital is known for its dedicated healthcare team and patient care, but it faces challenges in certain areas that impact the overall experience. Many visitors have expressed appreciation for the kindness and attentiveness of the nursing staff, particularly in the maternity and Urology departments, where patients felt cared for and supported during their treatments.
Positive Aspects:
- The nursing staff is often praised for their compassion and professionalism.
- Several patients reported receiving excellent care during childbirth and surgeries.
- Patients acknowledged the cleanliness of the facility and appreciated the free parking available.
However, there are significant concerns regarding long wait times, particularly in the Emergency Room where many patients reported waiting hours without being seen by a doctor. Complaints about rude staff behavior and unprofessional treatment by certain hospital personnel have also emerged. Patients have relayed experiences of feeling neglected and disregarded during their visits, which have led to frustrations and a lack of trust in the hospital's handling of emergencies.
Negative Aspects:
- Long wait times in the Emergency Room, sometimes exceeding six hours.
- Instances of unprofessional conduct from some staff members, including poor communication.
- Concerns about inadequate care for elderly patients and those needing specialized attention.
Overall, while Bridgeport Hospital has commendable aspects, it is clear that improvements in patient management and staff training are necessary to enhance the quality of care provided. Feedback from patients suggests a need for urgent attention to these recurring issues.
Bridgeport Hospital: Reviews
Negative experience: Don't go there. They are so confused and disorganized. They do not give you adequate information about what is happening with your family member. The staff do not seem to be communicating effectively. Getting information is very difficult, and sometimes they perform prrocedures without informing next of kin. However, it is very clean, and some of the staff are very pleasant.
Negative experience: I am disappointed with the staff and treatment in this hospital, I have a worse pain in my back , for 2 weeks , Saturday morning I feel so much pain and I went to bridgeport hospital, I can’t walk , the staff don’t help me to get out the wheelchair , I have to move by myself I am glad my husband was with me , I went with pain I come back home with the same pain , no exames, nothing
Negative experience: I have many medical ailments I have a 40% refraction rate with my heart and I've had quadruple bypass I got more hardware in my chest than the back aisle radio shack my liver is shot and my endocrine system is all over the road I got burnt on my feet more than fourth degree burns so they transferred me from Meriden midstate hospital to Bridgeport burn unit. After a while and being here and hooked up to the monitor a real life that I have afib now on top of everything else that I got I was already informed in the roundabout way that I was terminal anyway and this is the end of the road so even when I got here I kept telling him stop trying it's the end of the Road. I've had multiple nurses so far and every and I mean every one of them does not listen or they pretend to hear you cuz they did hear you and they never do nothing meaning they do your meds and everything but when it comes to me and getting a meal or getting a snack because I'm a big guy they just won't do my menu even the last f**** nurse that was in here wouldn't listen all I wanted him to do was dial the kitchen and I would do my order because I have a special diet I have diabetic diet and cardio diet he's like oh I'll just take your order I'll help you that's not going to happen they do it by computer or what I can and can't eat at that moment. Get me back to Yale New Haven St Raphael's 35 where they all know me where I spent 3 months recently because of my heart and endocrine system Bridgeport sucks.
Negative experience: In the neurology department there is a women receptionist who is extremely rude and unprofessional I don’t remember her name but I did complain to the nurse and asked for the head supervisors number to complain about her. Her hair is short and I’m not sure if she’s Caucasian. However, when I used to go there she was the First Lady I spoke to every time.
Negative experience: Terrible estuve 4 horas esperando a que atiendan a mi bb y nunca lo atendieron y eso que iba referido de la Clinica
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Show empathy. Always courteous
Negative experience: pretty sure security took my starbursts candy from my bag cuz they are missing
Negative experience: I don't think I will ever go back to that hospital. I had a very disturbing incident with one of PA nurses I can't believe how insensitive she was she basically claimed that I went into the bathroom to take pills. this was on October 7th 2024. I was in for the hospital to have a stent put in my heart which thank God I didn't need. she talked about how I got out of bed and I put a jacket over my head which does not make an ounce of sense and when another nurse was questioned she saw in regards to the jacket being on my head. she replied that she never saw me with the jacket on my head but the implication that I was going in there to possibly get a high because I am in a methadone program and having sober many many years but some on that. I am not a bad person and that's how she made me feel
Negative experience: my throat was literally closing yesterday, i was generally taken care of in the ER but once it was time for me to leave, all pharmacies were closed. that’s fine. i go to the one they called it into this morning and they failed to see if it would be open today. it was not. fine. it took several calls to simply talk to someone that could help get it transferred. after an hour they managed to figure it out (or so i thought). i get to the pharmacy and they inform me nothing was ever called in. i call the hospital 3 more times to finally get through to someone again and they had the audacity to be upset with ME LMFAOOO. be upset w yourselves for your inability to complete a simple freaking task.

Negative experience: U enter the emergency room and they make u wait like 5 hours while ur dying.
Negative experience: We have a long time sitting in a chair because they drive on’t have a bed available .
Negative experience: I agree with all reviews I've read about Bridgeport hospital. My 24 hour stay was horrendous.

Negative experience: This is the most unprofessional hospital that i have ever seen. The staff is unwilling to confort you and require you to sit in an unconfortable chair.
Negative experience: worst hospital ever, been waiting for 6 hours already and they keep asking for my name and not giving me a notice of when id get seen by a doctor; they just got me waiting this is the worst experience ever, dont even try to com here
Negative experience: DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT COMING HERE! literally, the WORST hospital experience! shitty attitudes from all staff, noone knows what's going on, noone cares about you! my 88 yr old grandmother was treated so poorly, no compassion! From the ER to Northeast 9, shame on you!!!!!!!!!! I've called so many times for help regarding a prescription she needed asap, noone can help. Someone even hung up on my face when I asked for her name! I will be persuing legal action! Throw the whole hospital and staff out and start again! How can you allow so many negative reviews on your Hospital?! FIX IT!
Negative experience: Nurses on the observation unit were rude and condescending. It took THEEE HOURS for the male nurse to come to help me after FOUR CALLS! I was also coming off/detoxing from a medication that was causing me psychotic idealations, paranoia, anxiety, and a tendency to act different than your normal behavior. Unfortunately my room faced a closet that had a window in my side of the door AND the other side. I looked up and saw a worker peering in the window and it looked like she was looking at me and I stared “what are you lookin at”. Well another nurse heard me, stormed into my room and chastised me for speaking to an employee like that. I was so taken aback at how she spoke to me that I didn’t have time to think and just apologized and said I was very sorry. When the nurse came in to give me my pain medication(wasn’t even my nurse and it looked like my nurse was assisting another patient. Please remember I asked for pain medicine two hours before. I asked for something else four hours and six requests before and still no nurse. Of course I had it with him and was pissed. I guess he sensed that and sent in another nurse, but that’s a story for another time. Please continue to read the rest in the next review with the same title and/ or rating.
Fantastic experience: Muy buen servicio
Negative experience: Its 8:41pm and ive been in the er waiting room since 3pm theres no way they can call this a er nobody has answers to your questions. Staff are rude and the body odor of one the nurse was horrible. I will never come here again.
Negative experience: I can’t express how horrible my birthing experience was here. I was given pictocin even though i repeatedly asked not to be. I was rushed into an emergency c section and they wanted me to sign papers under the influence of drugs without my husband present, my baby was put on a breathing machine without the actual need for it, my placenta and her cord for freezing disappeared. I expressed my birth plan, it was ignored. I never got to do skin to skin with my baby, they rushed her away without need for it. The lactation consultants are a joke, the nurses (some, not all) are rude and dismissive. Their recovery rooms are horrid. This was hands down the worst experience I could’ve had, and I suggest if you’re giving birth, please go make the trip to Stamford hospital and get true quality care. Never again at Bridgeport. They RUINED my first birth and have made me afraid of hospitals again. Genuinely wish I could give it -1383953 stars with how horrible they are there.
Negative experience: - Never visit Bridgeport Hospital if you need medical care. - Worst Hospital in the Northeast Region - They keep you waiting in the ER waiting room till die. - Check-in at 2pm and was not done with the service till 9pm, pathetic and ridiculous service, lots of excuses and lies to juice out your insurance money. - Bridgeport Hospital should be hold accountable for defaming Yale name. - They should name Lousy Department instead of Emergency Department.
Negative experience: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE, I'm literally posting this from the waiting room. We have been here for hours. The staff is rude and unprofessional. We can't get any answers as to why we are waiting. 3 hours waiting for someone to take blood is crazy. Just go to urgent care or Saint Vincent.
Negative experience: DON’T GO! Went in at 11pm for an accident, got discharged at 6:40am. Was told it would be only a moment longer at 2am. At 5:30am, the nurses inside were talking about an 8 hour wait time in total. Why make me stay overnight for something that could’ve been done in 20 mins?!? They wouldn’t even let me have paperwork saying I went there if I wanted to leave.
Negative experience: The department which involves the hospitalist doctors have much to be desired. I have called 5 times and left messages regarding my father’s care and plan and I have not received a single call back. I even went as far as to leave a very obvious physical note for the doctor on the nurse board and have had ZERO communication with them. How can a hospital be trusted when you can’t even ask a question to whomever is in charge of a relative’s care? They have treated him two separate times prior in the weeks before and have discharged him prematurely, leaving the hospital with the same issues he was admitted with, worsening as time goes on, apparently not knowing what to do next aside from get him discharged to clear the board. Who do you go to when the person in charge is completely unreachable? Unfortunately we are at the mercy of these irresponsible individuals who refuse to communicate. There will be a separate letter written commending the ER department who performed exceptionally. Unfortunately he is in a holding pattern on the 10th floor and no information or plan is available.
Negative experience: Bridgeport hospital hours for visiting patient suck. 10am to 8 pm. Whyyyyyy
Negative experience: Currently have a relative in Bridgeport Hospital. Before his hospitalization, as power of attorney, I have been working side by side with the state for his title 19 approval. His Eatna insurance is active. Days into the hospital they said he had dementia, by asking questions. I told them they needed to do further testings because asking him questions wasn’t enough. They wanted him back home for “good behavior”, meanwhile he couldn’t because he was aggressive with my mom, and for her safety. The hospital called asking about his finance, which to this day I refuse to give information. The hospital lied saying Eatna isn’t paying because he’s homeless, and was denied longer stay because he’s homeless. Eatna has no claim or denials from the hospital. Jessica Uzarski the social worker and her co worker Amanda another social worker are lying witches. I have called several nursing homes asking if they accept Medicade pendings, and the one that thought to consider taking him, after talking to Jessica Uzarski and her lying friend Amanda, now without explanation denied him. Jessica Uzarski claims there’s a nursing home named Arden house in Hamden interested in taking him, but they too have asked me for his finance. By law no nursing homes should be asking about finances unless they ask is it out of pocket, or is it medicare or medicade? I called this nursing home leaving voicemails but no one returns my calls, it’s been 3 weeks. Now Jessica Uzarski petition a court for conservator for my uncle, when as his power of attorney have been working to get his title 19 approval and repeatedly told Jessica about his w1348 form that proves it’s pending, but she refuses to accept this, now has gone behind my back to get a conservator saying he has been abandoned. I called to speak to her boss, and they refused any information. I called to complain, after 10 minutes in the phone, they refused to talk to me because I was recording since they, and others have lied on me, to the point police was involved before. I emailed the hospital, and from everything I said, they want clarification on what specific assistance I’m requesting from leadership to follow up on. Like if what Jessica Uzarski is doing isn’t wrong. She should be fired along with anyone along side her. She should call these nursing homes, and fix her lies so that the family can have my uncle in a nursing home where he can be cared for, and so that his title 19 be approved because the state requires a person to be in a nursing home first, but many nursing homes wants a patient with their title 19 before accepting them. So it’s a ping pong system. So Jessica Uzarski in her tantrum and revenge, because I wouldn’t sign a ROI “ for the nursing home to talk directly to the state case worker “, which I know that form has nothing to do with what she’s trying to do and get, now petitioned the court for a conservator. She also called a Zona from protective services for the elderly telling her she knows nothing about us with regards of my uncle. When I told Zona the truth, she was shocked as to why the hospital would say something else. She advised I keep doing what I’m doing, and keep everything I have against Jessica Uzarski and the hospital. A second time I spoke to Zona prior to talking to Jessica telling her about the pending title 19 again, she had Zona call me because I wouldn’t budge giving her a signed ROI, and fall for her stupid lies… Zona says well she wants what she wants, like it’s Jessica’s way or the highway. What law is that? Is Jessica now God? No! She has to follow law just like any other social worker. Zona said that Jessica probably just doesn’t want to deal with me. So that’s why this might be going to court? I said ok. This was a Friday. Monday comes along, she had Hemal Patel call me asking about the pending 19 again. At this point I didn’t reply, since I talked to Jessica that Friday. I recently left a voicemail asking why she’s going behind my back to get a conservator, I was blocked from MyChart and got no returned calls.
Fantastic experience: Maternity Ward Review: Nursing Staff for both infant and mother postpartum care 5/5. Food 3/5. Food service for mothers: 5/5. Food service for partner? 2.5/5. Security 5/5 checkpoints at entrances. Overall experience was great would love to visit this location again if I were to have another child with my wife.
Fantastic experience: Dr.Jeffrey Henry, Alise, Julius at register desk they got us in and out!! I so appreciated the service I received tonight for my daughter!!!

Fantastic experience: I just want to share my excellent experience in this hospital at the time of giving birth, they really showed me true love and compassion in my most vulnerable moment, I arrived 9 cm dilated and they were very attentive at all times, the nurses and dr where just awesome , to be honest if I had another baby again I would not hesitate coming to this hospital, oh and the food was good too.

Negative experience: Went in for heart palpitations. They didn't believe me treated me like I was having a panic attack. Bp 167/111. Wheezing and dizzy. Doctor said i wasn't Wheezing and only came in once to talk to me in 4 hours. Thank God the nurse (cali) from heaven came to help and comfort me. helped with every issue I had. She explained everything with details. This hospital needs to be shut down to be honest. Its horrible feels and looks like a hospital in the 80s. Stay away ! Tell the ambulance to reroute to another hospital. The nurses do more work than the doctors. If you go there do not expect a doctor to see you.
Negative experience: I went to the Emergency Room on May 6 2024. Was admitted for metabolic acidosis. I’m on dialysis and they gave me 1 treatment which went well. However the next treatment was performed by a total incompetent. She infiltrated the artery several times because she couldn’t manage to find it (the artery). It hurt terribly while she attempted to adjust the needle over and over. Finally she got it positioned but she must have known something was wrong because she repeatedly (at least 10 times) came over to poke and prod at my arm with her fingers. I’ve been on dialysis several years & never have experienced a treatment this bad. My arm swelled up horribly afterwards. (Two days later it is still swollen and now technicolor.) She clearly didn’t know what she was doing but didn’t have the sense or even the human compassion to call for help. I kept asking her what was wrong and she kept saying “Nothing, I’m just checking it.” I will never ever go to this hospital again. If you need dialysis here, good luck - you’re gonna need it!
Negative experience: Went in to Bridgeport hospital. My wife was in severe pain leftaside she waited 2 hours. No one saw her she was throwing up. They said there's still another 5 hours to wait. We left to go to Saint Vincent's hospital. I said to them. I should not get a bill. No Doctor saw my wife. We need to do more reviews, not on Google anywhere. You can so the public and the city is aware of what's going on. We need to do better to take care of patients.

Negative experience: My 84 year old mother was found on the side of the road 100 miles from home and transferred to this hospital. I was not notified by them if her admission and found out through a third party. Despite telling multiple caregivers of my concern of her having dementia, secondary to this being the second time in a year she was found on the road confused, and her having delusions and hallucinations, they did not do thorough testing and deemed her perfectly fine. They discharged her to her own care, with full access to her car, so she can once again be found on the road in the future. This hospital is neglectful. Gave 1 star because you can't review without it.

Professionalism and Respect Thank you Kali without a doubt you are an Excellent Person an Excellent Nurse Thank you very much for everything!!!!

Positive experience: I was there for a triple blood transfusions. The nurses and doctors where awesome, so caring and very patient. I took one star away because of the food...it was awful, and I am not picky!
We are delighted to receive your comments. Our patients and their loved ones play a large role in the perception of our hospital, and we always encourage feedback. We thank you for your kind words and have shared your comments with our team.
Negative experience: It was dirty and uncaring. If they find out you are a Republican they will torture you with needles and pins. They spend their money on advertising rather than making the hospital better. Go to Saint Vincents if you want to live.

Fantastic experience: Excelente
Negative experience: Avoid this hospital at all costs. I brought my mom into the ER because she was having mini strokes. The male and female in the ER were making JOKES about an elderly woman who was having difficulty. It was sickening.
Negative experience: Worst hospital we have ever been to. My friend had a serious emergency and they asked us to wait for 30 mins after giving him some cotton. When I went outside to ask if somebody is going to come and help. The nurse promptly said “I’m sorry there’s a lot of people in pain”. All I asked was a polite question. The male doctor aggressively intervened and said I’m sorry if you have a problem you can walk outside. So we pay thousands of dollars to these people just so they can act entitled. I would not recommend this hospital to anybody.

Negative experience: There worst experience I had to date in er for 11.5 hours and still here and everybody just standing around
Negative experience: Me and My family was there on December 17 cause my mom Millicent Moore was brought in . In which she passed. The doctor that came in and told us my mom didn’t make It had no empathy in telling us that my mom did not make It. The Nurses were so RUDE AND NASTY rushing us out the hospital. I feel Disgusted that we the (family) was treated like this . Maybe you should have your nurses RE-TRAINED on being more sympathetic to people losses. Very Unhappy
Negative experience: I was sent to the emergency room by an urgent care facility due to chest pain and shortness of breath from covid. I Spent over 10 hours in the waiting room after getting an ekg and chest xray done. After 7 hours of waiting I asked approximately how much longer and I was told there were 12 people ahead of me (I understand how triage works) but 20 PATIENTS were called before I got in the room. I was dizzy, in pain, very dehydrated, and starving because I was told a by a nurse that a dr had to approve me to eat. Once I finally got in the room they noticed I was dehydrated and asked if I wanted IV fluids or some water, I asked for water because I honestly didn't want to spend another 6 hours there. Never brought me any water. I was discharged within 20 mins, and when I questioned certain things I was told by a employee (not releasing names or job titles) that the Drs are pretty much just trying to get people in and out and normally look over or skip certain protocols! By the time I got home I was so dizzy I couldn’t walk in a straight line! Sad, just sad. I am the first person always sticking up for hospital employees especially when its busy because I understand how challenging it can be having multiple patients at once and back to back, but today was unacceptable.
Negative experience: If you need help or see this place RUN….If I could rate this hospital lower or no stars even negative I would. Just got into a car accident today went there to go get checked out but that didn’t happen. I waited so long maybe a good 4 hours…I saw people go in before me. What scares me is how screwed this hospital is if someone was actually dying. The nurses said our case wasn’t severe enough. What a joke
Positive experience: I was just discharged from bpt hospital yesterday and was very happy with the care I had received. From nurse Milton in the ER and all the amazing nurses I had on the 5th floor (shoutout to Dorett and Riann) they were absolutely amazing! The ER wait did take awhile for them to even come see me which is why I docked a star.
Negative experience: I got there at 6:15 the security guards were bothering a patient that was there and a guy came in and the security guards kick him out when he only wanna it to get seen so they thru him out of the hospital so I took a video and the security guards treating me that if don’t give them the video they were gonna call the cops on me so wat they did the left me just sit there until 1;30 in the morning and never seen me cause they were mad about the video so never got seen
Negative experience: Worst Hospital Ever! Don’t go there if you’re in pain! Very unprofessional care!
Negative experience: Must be Towanna Smith, an Incompetent and very disturbed Nurse. Very high potential for violence, this Hospital will pay dearly for keeping this disturbed Ghetto Queen in their ranks. It's only a matter of time.

Negative experience: Please remove the my chart system for Bridgeport hospital for mental health. Please higher therapist that have more than an associate’s degree and do more than just cognitive behavioral and narrative therapy it’s useless and a cheap for of therapy that ineffective, please be informed and highly consider uncovering therapeutic and acknowledgment of disorders that are real and that repressed memories do exist. Please stop pushing antidepressants, mood stabilizers and antipsychotics on everyone. If a patient isn’t sleeping do to trauma or stress please stop forcing them to sleep, sleepless nights happen. Please be trauma informed in fact do a background check for those that work in mental health and train them long and thoroughly before you higher them because the workers are taking advantage of giving shots and cornering patients. It does not fix anything and causes further trauma. When a patient says they are allergic or has reactions to medication please stop using intimidation or just plain bullying to get a patient to take the medication worth force or be discharged. Patients should have a right to say no to medication and believed it’s causing harm without having an argument. Please give patients there rights back. It doesn’t work if help. Healing is love and understanding not telling a patient who is excited or scared from stuff that happened it’s their fault. Please stop with the business videos of organizations on the 9th floor. Lastly please stop being a teaching hospital and bringing in students to patients rooms who have boundaries. Let Yale teach the students and let hospitals be hospitals that help people again. All this money is being wasted on useless and harmful treatments that are costing families and individuals everything.

Negative experience: I came to drop my Husband off some breakfast around 9am along with my 11 yr old son. I was asked where I was going, because visiting hours are at 10. I informed them that I was his wife and they said they cannot access the system to verify. Y’ALL gotta Do better! Some ppl aren granted access while others aren’t and clearly the ppl who were granted access were visiting as well. He had to send a nurse down. My son waited for the whole school week to finish so he can have ample time to visit his father and we were turned away! WHAT A SHAME!

Negative experience: This place is by far the worst! The wait time is ridiculous!! The waiting rooms feels dirty. Takes so long for them to see you, is just trash! Me personally I have go there for me! But I been there with other peoples!! I chose Saint Vincent all day over them
Negative experience: Extremely long wait times, came at 9 pm and still here at 7 am. Still yet to see a doctor or anyone really. Everything here is done so slowly, it’s really frustrating. Understanding of a lot of things but being at an emergency room this long is too much.
Negative experience: Go anywhere else. This place seems like they are sooner trying to kill you than save your life. You will be better off going anywhere else and avoiding adding a hospital acquired infection to your problem list. They have doctors making decisions who don't even have privileges and they don't even remotely care about HIPAA. It is hard to believe this is a real hospital.

Negative experience: Don't go to this hospital unless you want to die! The worst. Incompetent staff, rude nurses, lying doctors, patient relations is a joke, & Anne Diamond the head of the hospital is too busy to be bothered. I'd give them zero stars if it was an option!
Negative experience: Terrible experience worst hospital ever don’t return calls, put my brother on medicine he’s not supposed to take that will damage his kidneys after I told them multiple times he could not take it. Then the social worker spoke over me and proceeded to tell me she does not get paid enough to argue with me. Extremely unprofessional and incompetent.
Negative experience: Bridgeport hospital basically killed my father Kenneth capozziello Sr . . He went there for an infection somewhere in his stomach and after 2 weeks they said we can't find it . . then called us and said he is going into ICU . . wouldn't let us go there until he was almost dead. . I wouldn't wish this hospital on anyone. . they are the worst. . . as he was dying they said to make a decision. . then left the room and came right back in and said oh by the way his kidneys just failed. . . he will have no quality of life anyway. . . . So bacically pull the plug so we can move on to the next patient. .
Negative experience: My wife was sick Been here for hours and still haven’t been seen more than 3 hours we still in the emergency waiting room waiting from 2:10am to 5:28am. Mayor of bridgeport please you need to review this part of the hospital. I really don't know why they call that emergency

Fantastic experience: I don't know for the rest of department but I can testify to about the labour and delivery section, the feeling is overwhelming, beautiful, kind and friendly nurses and doctors, it was as if they were family members, especially this particular nurse Carly Englenka, who kept offering her hands to squeeze at my distress, she's as beautiful and the inside as on the out, I would highly recommend this facility to all expecting mom....Love and thanks guys, I will never forget you guys Delivery night 05/14/2023 thumbs up to all the nurses and doctors on that shift that night
Thank you for your kind words. Your post has been shared with our team. We wish you a happy and healthy future!
Negative experience: The service is disgusting. I waited 23 hours before being seen by a doctor. The old woman working there was extremely rude, combative, and disrespectful. Also, it was freezing inside and the showers were broken (I was hospitalized for several days).

Positive experience: the only reason why this hospital is receiving 4 stars is the nurses they went above and beyond after receiving a fusion... now part 2 the PT Department only gets 0 stars because of their unprofessional manners releasing me when I'm unable to fully care for myself kinda lost my balance going up the stairs anyways horrible you seent all this money for what to be treated or disrespectfully....

Negative experience: One of the worst ER services. You went there to be seen immediately but ended up waiting 6 hours! You don't even know when you will be called. There should be tv for waiting time monitoring. If there is 0 star i will rate it that way. Go to other competent hospital instead. This hospital should be completely overhauled esp. their services!!!
Fantastic experience: Brought someone to the ER and the wait time was virtually nothing (<5 minutes)! I was dreading coming here, as my previous experience with their ER many years ago was an utter shitshow. It's definitely different now and I would go there if I needed an ER.
Thank you for your kind words. Your post has been shared with our team. We wish you a happy and healthy future!
Negative experience: This only for the front desk people who take their jobs too seriously because of a little piece that says visitor. If you had adequate security that does their job would be no need to take someone's visitors pass. They stand at the front and do absolutely nothing. For example I was just leaving and the security asked me if I needed help well your talking to the lady who is supposed to be collecting the visitor passes. So you don't know why I'm standing here waiting for you to stop talking so I can hand over my pass, but I would be wrong if I just walked by and didn't give you anything.
Negative experience: If I could give this hospital a -0 I would first off they need to learn better patient management, they need to have a separate area were children are not mixed in with adults and the wait time for children is way to long. Horrible do not go here go else were I would rather driver an hr away to the children hospital in Hartford, CT then go here.

Fantastic experience: A great facility that always helps me with my health. Great Nurses, Doctors, and staff. Extremely caring and kind. Planning on donating some money when I get a chance.

Negative experience: Surgery check in is awful. The sign says says pick a number but there is no numbers to take. And then they YELL next customer no one knows who is next. They make you go through metal detectors that should be an indicator to stay away. Do not go here if you can avoid it.

Negative experience: Drove 2.5 hours to see mother / mother in law. Only 1 was allowed.because 1 visitor earlier...no one in room when we arrived....this was a 97 year old hospitalized...pneumonia and chf....if she by chance passes....it will be traumatic...sad ...she really wanted to see both of us...this is not holistic patient centered care!!

Negative experience: My dad suffered a hemorrhagic stroke this hospital is very carelesswe were waiting inside the waiting room for we were sitting there from 1029 in 3 hours before they even told me and my mom what was going on my mom had to keep getting up multiple times to ask what was wrong with my father and there was this sort of screen where they have the names of the people in my dad weren't on there then they move you to a hospital called yell in New Haven that was this man that were saying I'm sorry I don't know there's nothing else we can do me and my mom thought my dad was gone but he wasn't then they sent us to yell my father was on a breathing machine for 3 days at Yale thank God yell is one of the best hospitals because without yell I know something would have happened to my father was he Reckless people and careless people it was to the point where we weren't even able to see my father because my mom had to keep asking so if any of one of you guys see this you guys did a horrible job on my father and I know y'all could have did something better and if y'all wasn't there my father would have probably passed away without you

Negative experience: The receptionist at the front desk ( emergency ) is terrible. She knew i falled my dad to get picked up i sat by the phone and everything. When my dad came he said he was waiting for 15 minutes and told him that i left at 7:30.. i fell asleep and i when i woke up the receptionist lady asked me if i called my dad i said yeah she asked is he coming i said yeah so i turned around and called my dad again and thats when he told me he spoke to lady and told him i left. She knew i was waiting for him and she didnt say anything to anybody.. i let it be known that i was waiting for my DAD he came into hospital said im here for my DAUGHTER and they made him believe that i left. I hate this hospital so much. I came here at 12am and didn’t be seen until 6:15am.. i had bad dihrea and walking around with a mess and ONE nurse came to me with cloths and a underpad.. just wow
Negative experience: Absolute nightmare. Waited 6 hours in waiting room, and one hour in a room. Didn't even see a doctor. A nurse handled my visit. People who look perfectly fine are being helped before me. They make you feel like you're wasting their time. Will never go back!!
Negative experience: Harsh treatment experienced here by me, like so many others. Also there was a time in early 2020, just before the Pandemic hit that my father nearly suffocated to death due to negligent care, and I witnessed this, saw him struggle to breath and it was due to lack of communication by the staff, to NOT allow him to be reclined in the bed which the DR and nurses KNEW was a no no with the fluid build up after his procedure, so to save him he had to be rushed to critical care to get a tube in his throat to help him recover, and he was never the same since this traumatic event, There is no excuse for mistakes like this, and should be accounted for , and made clear that the bed pan staff needs to be on same page as the trained medical staff.

Fantastic experience: I came in with a painful abscess and walked out with such relief! So efficient, so helpful, so knowledgeable. I can’t say enough good things about this hospital. Every single person was so kind and absolutely wonderful. Thank you to everyone who helped me out.

Negative experience: Came here for a psychiatric emergency. Didn’t have my medication in their pharmacy. Sleepless nights, doctors wasn’t helpful. I’m upset that the ambulance sent me to Bridgeport Hospital. The bill costed my dad’s insurance more than $1,000. We couldn’t pay for the whole bill. Please make the emergency room more affordable. Plus I didn’t like being in a locked in unit. Nobody didn’t adhere to my needs. I highly recommend that you go to York Street Campus

Fantastic experience: Had a upper ecology procedure at Bridgeport Hospital. Although the wait was long everything went smoothly. I had a gentleman named Pedro I believe. Just as I was going out he took my hand. This small gesture still sticks with me. I usually come out of anesthesia stressed and crying. Because of Pedro’s hand hold, I woke slow and comfortable. Thank you Pedro ❤️

Negative experience: I came in at 10:30pm because my baby is very sick and left at 2am without being seen. I understand everyone there is in need of medical help but to think of having an infant waiting 4-5hrs in their car seat to avoid much exposure, is awful. Not just me but many people waiting for HOURS with excruciating pain and tiny babies crying.
Negative experience: I was inpatient bridgeport for not being able to WALK.. was told I have anxiety and i’m making up everything… I had strange unexplained symptoms, severe pain, couldn’t eat, severe muscle spasms and seizure like episodes.. they told me i had Chairi Malformation but not to worry about it, i got a second opinon and was told to see a nuero surgeon for possible surgery and that all my symptoms relate to this diagnosis that i was told HAD NOTHING TO DO with my symptoms at bridgeport. I truly could not express enough to never go here EVERRRR. All the nurses also thought i was crazy and wouldn’t help me, i spent nights just crying in bed

They said u need to be in pain so are u in pain so i had to say yes. Lady said yes that what i need to hear, so then i got checked in this is all just a way of the medical system robbing and the dr is telling me no and there charging for the visit horrible experience

Negative experience: How can a hospital with such outstanding drs & nurses get it so wrong with their front dest, security and hospitality personnel. Visiting a sick loved one is stressful enough as is. Having to deal with rude, discourteous, disrespectful and unprofessional staff, only adds to an already difficult situation. The front desk staff provides atrocious customer service, and a complete lack of knowledge. The security staff heinous. Functioning solely on ineffective intimidation tactics which is disrespectful utterly unacceptable. I really hope the hospital takes this under advisement and completely revamps their staff as they are the front line with patients and their families and ultimately who you come in contact daily. They basically make a tough situation infinitely worse.

Positive experience: My mom who is 90 years old had a fall and was taken by ambulance here. She was seen by a few nurses and doctors who seem to do their best, the waiting was unbearably long, she was kept hungry for more than 36 hours as she needed to do a cat-scan which took forever to be Done. My mom has advanced dementia, she's not verbal and totally dependent, which the hospital was advised about. She was given a meal that was just "there", I'm really not happy with the system at all. Something has to change, geriatric patients like these need more assistance. I still want to thank the nurses and doctors who helped to get her the medical assistance she needed and to make her as comfortable as possible. Thank you
Positive experience: RNs and Patient Care Technicians along with support staff are fantastic. Physicians did not listen to my concerns about existing conditions prior and after emergency abdominal surgery. Regular medications were not administered in a timely manner. 5 hours in the waiting room.

Negative experience: My girlfriend was transfer to this hospital for a surgery procedure (ovarian cyst torsion) after the procedure she was in recovery the nurses were kind and polite however they weren't really informative with discharge instructions. In the midst of my girlfriend recovering I was filled with emotions that I couldn't really think of questions to ask because I was worried for her. It is the staffs obligation to be thorough and they were not. I wouldn't recommend using this hospital at all. In addition the bathrooms were filty and completely broke oshas regulation (urine on toilet seat) it's a hospital you would think they would be on top of sterilization but they are not

Positive experience: Well ran Hospital, very capable crew, BUT those Nurses in MICU at night, an Eyesore, very unprofessional, a very Hostile working environment, harassing especially travelling Health Care personnel with impunity & reckless abandon, very noisy, one particular black Nurse at night leads the pack, gang style, in loud Ghetto Foul language bonanza all night long, belligerent, unpredictable and a serious threat to Patients and staff she does not agree with, they spend most of shift yacking & clowning around, with minimal attention to Patients' calls & needs, but resort to making fun of Patients. This, coming from a Physician, the potential legal & professional risk exposure could be immense particularly from this Toxic crew. If the Hospital administration has been unaware, hopefully they will not refer to this review someday and regret not addressing this problem in timely manner.

Negative experience: Worst nurses in the state. I just had major surgery and I am still dealing with the fact the nurses gave me the wrong meds I am allergic to 3 times. The maternity ward nurses were fine but if you say a swear word once the nurses on any other floor they say oh I don’t have to deal with you and just walk away. I was there for cancer surgery and hysterical with pain and immediately every nurse that heard me swear and cry from my surgery pain the day before just freakin ignored me and were total jerks for my whole time. Except for 2 very young nurses I had in the end all of them were just horrible horrible horrible humans
Negative experience: It’s been the worst experience ever…. Nurses joking around taking there sweet time to find a room… my son has a broken wrist sense 3pm…. We still here nothing been done… we are from New Britain… came here for a football game, he got injured and we still here almost 5 hours later and my fiancé with my other 2 kids in the car.

Negative experience: Brought my husband to the ER at 3 am with an acute abdomen and with immanent shock and I was not allowed to enter hospital by the police and the hospital security staff. My husband was clearly in severe physical distress and not adequately able to handle and communicate himself and needed my support in the hospital. The unbelievably ridiculous response by the guards and the police was „the hospital has interpreters“ which obviously will not help a patient who’s perfectly able to speak English normally but currently can’t because of the immense physical distress he’s in. Besides, I am a medical doctor myself and being treated like this by the security staff is disgraceful and unacceptable. There is no rationale and excuse that the police and security staff can’t allow a relative who is clearly needed to enter the hospital. The security staff didn’t even allow the husband of a mother who was about to give birth to enter the hospital. The behavior demonstrated by the security staff and the police was shameful and inhumane and something like this should not be tolerated at a Yale Health institution. Overall we waited more then 5 hrs with an acute abdomen (!) before a doctor saw us. The staff in this ER clearly is not able to triage and prioritize according to severity and urgency of the case which is why you should not seek urgent care in this hospital if you can avoid it. It’s medically not justifiable to leave a patient with an acute abdomen undiagnosed and untreated for hours and hours. As s doctor, I must say this is not understandable. The nurses however, were great, very professional and helpful which literally was the only positive element of this otherwise horrible experience.

Negative experience: The wait was horrible. I understood the wait but when I pushed the call button the first time didn't speak to a live person just heard the page for someone to come to my room. 15min went by called again I said I only need a blanket because I was extremely cold. I've been in this room for at least 3 hrs with no one checking in on me. Finally I flag a nurse down and she came right away with a blanket. I'm still in the room and no communication at all from the nurse or a Dr. Haven't seen a Dr yet I've been in this room for at least 3hr
Negative experience: Absolutely horrendous. I had to complain to an additional doctor in order for my daughter to be treated. The first doctor spent 5 minutes with my daughter and told me she looked great! She then insisted my daughter was “great” despite me and her pediatrician telling her she wasn’t. Completely avoid bringing your children here if you can. The nurses however, were great and caring.
Positive experience: I’ll say this: I’ll give five stars to the doctor and the front desk, including the new nurse I was given who is Greek I am extremely satisfied with how respectful they were towards me and how welcomed that they made me feel coming to a new hospital after I moved to Bridgeport Today I had a really bad asthma attack, and I was not feeling good at all, so I went to the emergency room to make sure everything was OK. When I finally got my own bed, my nurse who I will call “M” since I don’t want to expose her or say her name fully. My first nurse M was extremely rude off the bat, talking to me as if I was a burden and her tone of voice was just full attitude. She really wasn’t nice at all, and she was talking to me like she was rushing. I asked her for a blanket and she goes and gets one and she cracks the door open and tosses blanket on top of me and leaves. This woman did not even offered to help me put the blanket on. She just tossed it on me, as if I was some sort of burden. It made me feel extremely unwelcomed. The way she even spoke to me was so condescending and I am so glad I asked to change my nurse because my second nurse was the sweetest person and made me leave with a smile. I finally feel better due to the prednisone and new inhaler they gave me. I would definitely come back to Bridgeport hospital. But I also will 100% make sure I don’t have M ever again as a nurse I will say I love how this Hospital handles patients in the waiting room getting everything done before they get a bed just to make the process of discharge a lot easier

Negative experience: This hospital has always been problems. They treated me and now won't fill out necessary medical documents. Now my father has been in there for 5 days now. Needs an mri, and still hasn't gotten one. He's a diabetic and now can't eat again because a machine broke right before he was supposed to go in. And then wouldn't have be first on the list. He's a diabetic. I'm calling tomorrow and complaining. This is absolutely ridiculous. Let's not even mention they sent me home bleeding to death from a ectopic pregnancy, and almost died. 10/10 do not recommend. As well when you call the patient advocacy they do absolutely nothing.

Negative experience: I had the worst experience here the first time I came in because I had stomach pain. The doctor the night I came in to the ER didn’t seem that concerned. He took my blood and vitals and said because everything was normal there was nothing he could do but prescribe me pain medication. he suggested I do a Ct scan but at the same it’s like he was trying to persuade me from not doing it due to the wait times. 2 days later I came back.. the doctor who was in charge wanted to see what my pain was and gave me an X-ray. Only to find that I was extremely constipated, thank god for that ER doctor who actually took the time it’s just sad for the level of care u get from black neighborhood hospitals. I try to stay away but being that it was local to my house I went but going forward I would never go back for any emergency treatment. I did hear a lot of stories where doctors misdiagnose but since it happened to me I’m definitely not returning. Grateful for the second doctors who was able to catch what was causing my pain.
