Mercedes was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to New Mexico following her admission to the University of New Mexico school of Medicine Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. She loved New Mexico and the beauty it had to offer so much that she decided to stay following her graduation from UNM in 2020. Within the physical therapy realm, she is passionate about sports rehab, healthcare for rural populations, and better understanding biomechanics in order to provide the best care for her patients. Mercedes has treated patients of a variety of ages and conditions and is comfortable working with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Her priority is to advocate for each patient and provide them with the individualized care they deserve in a safe and friendly environment. Outside physical therapy, Mercedes loves to horseback ride, hike, exercise, play with her dog, and spend time with friends and family.

What a wonderful experience! I’ve been to a few other physical therapy/massage practices in the past but none were as in-depth and detailed as Dale and Summit Rehabilitation. Dale took the time to get an extensive symptom and health history, listened to my updates at each appointment, and really gave me the sense that he was invested in my recovery. A mere 6 visits (and lots of “homework“/exercises at home) and my neck isn’t locked up like it was. I recalled at my last visit that it’s been at least two months since I’ve had a headache (which I used to experience regularly), and I’m sleeping better than ever! Thanks to direct access, we can see any patient without a referral from a doctor for an initial evaluation. If our therapists believe that physical therapy is a good option for your needs, we can work with you and your physician to obtain a prescription for continued care. If your diagnosis requires additional expertise, we can also refer you to a specialist to handle your care.

Please wear or bring comfortable athletic/workout clothing to change into. This includes shorts or sweatpants, a t-shirt and sneakers. Your attire should also allow easy access to your injured area for treatment by your physical therapist.

The frequency of your treatment will depend on your physician’s prescription and the plan of care developed by your physical therapist. Most patients require treatment two to three times per week. The duration of treatment will depend on your injury and personal progress. Your physical therapist will discuss this with you following your initial exam and subsequently as you progress.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, we require at least 24 hours' notice. However, we do understand than an occasional emergency or illness may arise, in which case you may have to cancel your appointment closer to your scheduled time.

We accept most major insurances including Medicare, Tricare and workers’ compensation plans. Before your initial visit, we will verify in and out of network benefits with your insurance company. The cost of therapy is determined by the benefits of your insurance plan, including the deductible and co-pay, or patient percentage. We are happy to check with your insurance company to determine the terms of your coverage. Payment for patient responsibility is due at the time of service.
