The Movement Guild: Reviews
Fantastic experience: My journey to run the Chicago Marathon was made possible thanks to the exceptional care I received at The Movement Guild, particularly from my physical therapist, Kyle Blair. Struggling with ankle-posterior tendonitis and other leg issues, I found Kyle's approach attentive and uniquely customized to my needs. His expertise was pivotal in my recovery and preparation for the marathon, allowing me to complete it injury-free and meet all my goals. I can't recommend The Movement Guild, and specifically Kyle Blair, enough for those seeking effective physical therapy treatments.
Fantastic experience: Kyle and the rest of the Movement Guild team are great to work with! I've dealt with recurring shoulder pain for years, and through Kyle's guidance I'm pain free doing the things I enjoy. As long as you put in the effort and follow the plan, they can help you make vast improvements on whatever injuries are plaguing you. Couldn't recommend more!
Fantastic experience: The Movement Guild is AMAZING. Wonderfully friendly and engaging in the scheduling and messaging departments, and my experience with Kyle Blair as my Physical Therapist has been incredible. He's smart, engaging, easygoing, and he really knows his stuff. Kyle is the real deal. I highly recommend The Movement Guild!
Fantastic experience: Kyle Blair is an amazing therapist. He is on your level in terms of passion to get better, and explains clearly what is needed from you in order to improve and the physics behind each activity. I enjoyed my time working with Kyle and Movement Guild.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend The Movement Guild & Kyle Blair. Kyle really knows his stuff & my pelvic floor has never been better! He made the sessions fun & my life is better not having to worry about trying to find a bathroom every 30 minutes. :-)
Fantastic experience: The Movement Guild was a place where I found answers to questions about pain and tension in my body that I had spent a decade searching for. I had gone through a doctor, a chiropractor, two other physical therapists, and finally found an answer at the Movement Guild. Adam Wolf and his team helped me recover from chronic pain and a complicated physical ailment through an innovative approach, patience, and care. It's weird to say this about a physical therapist in a Google review, but it is the truth: Adam has made a major impact on my life and health and I'm deeply grateful for finding him and his team. This is a man that truly cares about his patients and has built a special place where those patients can go to heal. A whole hearted and grateful endorsement.
Fantastic experience: Julia was incredible to work with and adaptive to my skill level. I am a professional circus artist, and she made my treatment specific to my needs and challenging enough to make for the best possible outcome. After 6/7 weeks I was discharged feeling 1,000x better. Could not recommend more. Also they have parking:)
Fantastic experience: I’ve had an amazing experience at the movement guild! Julia is my therapist and she shows great empathy, knowledge, care, and commitment to my overall health and well-being. I started seeing her for plantar fasciitis and at the time couldn’t walk more than 10 steps without feeling excruciating pain in my feet. It’s been less than a month and I’m able to walk over 2 miles and continue to be on my feet afterwards. I’m so grateful to Julia for her help in my recovery! This is a top notch PT office with exceptional therapist and staff.
Fantastic experience: Has such a great experience here. From the ease of scheduling to the successful therapy I received from Kevin for my planter fasciitis. The team there is great and really cares about your recovery and well-being. Would recommend to anyone!
Fantastic experience: I've been a devoted client at The Movement Guild in Chicago, Illinois, and I can confidently say they are unparalleled in their field. The results I've experienced over time are a testament to their exceptional physical therapy services. The entire team, including standout professionals like Kyle Blair and Milan, exudes friendliness and warmth. Kyle, in particular, stands out for one of the professionals there with his extraordinary talent, inspiration, and intelligence in the realm of physical therapy. His expertise extends beyond, making him a true standout in the field. Milan also has a lot to offer that he is an excellent practitioner. The Movement Guild is undoubtedly a five-star haven for those seeking top-notch care and expertise.
Fantastic experience: So I tore my Achilles and went to a few places before being recommended to going to Movement Guild. I wasn’t seeing any progress at the other spots and there was a lack of 1 on 1. At the Movement Guild I came in pretty frustrated cause I thought i would just run into another dead end. But it’s been the complete opposite. After only 2 months with them I got a significant amount of my strength back and overall just feel like I’m with people I can trust. They don’t tell me what I want to hear but what I need to. And I believe that’s important because I’m a Pro athlete and I want to get back on the field ASAP but trusting in their expertise has made this process a whole lot less frustrating. Especially cause I’m seeing amazing results. I HIGHLY recommend them and will definitely continue to go even after I’m 100% healthy again.
Fantastic experience: I started seeing Erin at TMG a few months before my baby was born. I had been told from friends that pelvic floor therapy is a must do but really had no idea what to expect. From day 1 I knew I had made the right choice. Erin was professional, super informative, empathetic and I felt at ease having her on my team! There is so much I didn’t know about postpartum and she was able to not only make me feel better prepared but also more confident. I do CrossFit and during my pregnancy she provided more accessible movements and most importantly helped me adjust my breathing during my lifts. This was critical pre and post pregnancy. We discussed a plan that would work for me postpartum and I saw her 2x a week to work on my recovery while building up strength. I honestly felt like I lost so much muscle and my body just didn’t look or function the way it did before my daughter was born. Working with Erin has provided me the tools and continued knowledge around pelvic floor health - I am forever grateful for her!
Fantastic experience: Movement Guild is a great physical therapy provider. My physical therapist, Kyle Blair, is very knowledgeable generally, but specifically in his areas of expertise. He helped me get control of my symptoms within a few visits. He provided me weekly emails for at home exercises to keep tempo of my progress moving forward. Kyle helped me with my area of primary concern, but he also assisted me with other questions and issues related to sports medicine and past injuries. Overall, Kyle is a solid guy, and I'd highly recommend him. The staff is also very helpful and accessible for scheduling appointments and flexible if changes need to be made. The Movement Guild has onsite parking too, which is a bonus if you have to drive in for your appointments.
Fantastic experience: I have been treating with the Movement Guild team since their inception, and Adam since he began as a physical therapist. The Movement Guild is a forward-thinking team of practitioners, without limits to their abilities to treat. Their outside of the box, individualized, whole-body approach to intervention should be the standard of care for all physical therapy. I have, and will continue to refer all my family & friends to 'The Guild' for the best care, regardless of the ailment.
Fantastic experience: The Movement Guild is great at handling the needs of injured aerialists--including recreational ones like me. Kyle Blair took an interest in my specific movement needs and took the time to listen and figure out how best to restore me to full function. This was my third time at the practice and they have always been thorough and good at explaining the theory and practice behind their recommendations. Can't recommend enough!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Kyle Blair. He demonstrated a deep understanding of my condition and his guidance helped me regain strength and mobility. His approach is both holistic and personalized, focusing not only on physical rehabilitation but also on my overall health and well-being. Many thanks Kyle!
Fantastic experience: Milán has been a real help to me. He understands how the body and mind work together and how to put this into a practice that is already showing results. The faculty is easily accessible, friendly and and well appointed. I have really enjoyed my sessions
Fantastic experience: The Movement Guild is outstanding in every single way. I hadn’t heard of the practice until it was recommend by a chiropractor also in Chicago, which was a good sign. The Movement Guild continuously exceeded my expectations, provided unmatched levels of care, and combined research-backed techniques. At some appointments, I didn’t feel the need to speak, as my therapist, Milan, could tell my ailments and pain, simply by my movement restrictions and breathing patterns. I had a pinched nerve 4 months prior that continued to give me pain. Milan’s exercises helped immediately, and eventually I could move without pain. Our next lessons focused on rebuilding strength in the supporting areas, improving my breathing, and regaining range of motion. I’d been to therapist and my state and had seen nominal improvement. At every stage, I recognized Milan’s expertise and understanding of biomechanics. Accordingly, throughout my treatment, my sleep improved, my headaches lessened and I had more energy in addition to feeling better physically. Additionally, the space is beautiful. Spacious and esthetically pleasing. They offer yoga classes, which I would have loved to take had it not been for my herniated disc and pinched nerve. I recommend the Movement Guild highly for everyone, whether a professional athlete or someone recuperating from injury.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to Kinstretch classes with Jessica for about a month in a half. I have gained increased range of motion and have been able to use the increase in other activities (e.g. swimming, weight lifting, HIIT). I have also noticed that every day movement like walking feels easier as my hips are more mobile. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Adam and his team are skilled and knowledgeable, he helped lower my pain in one session. He did a thorough physical exam and explained to me what was going on with my body which I didn’t get with other physical therapist. I highly recommend them!
Fantastic experience: Over the past month I have taken several amazing Kinstretch classes lead by Jessica. She is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about improving range of motion is a safe way. I look forward to her weekly sessions and have notice improvements in my hips and shoulders. An added benefit she excellent massage therapist. I have definitely added the Movement Guild to my wellness routine.
Fantastic experience: There’s nothing like this place anywhere… with a team so skilled and so approachable you instantly feel you are in the best hands. You learn, as you develop strength and awareness in your body. This is cutting edge, boutique style, and deeply thoughtful facility curated for anyone looking to be pain free, and elevate their physical game.
Fantastic experience: Jessica is brilliant and gives a warm energy to the class and practice. As a current professional athlete I trust her knowledge and experience to help me get to the next level!
Fantastic experience: Wish I had come sooner! I've had an annoying little injury in my knee & foot for almost a year. I kept feeling it'd go away soon but it never did. A super thorough assessment from Kevin, a sensible list of at-home do-able exercises, a couple of follow-ups and I am pretty much back to normal. WHY oh why did I wait so long to come in?! STRONG recommendation.
Fantastic experience: AMAZING. I've had great physical therapists before, but there is something different about the team at Movement Guild. The therapist skill set and approach is just different than I've experienced otherwise. Their space has great energy and is well organized, and even when it's "busy" it feels fun to be there [and you still have plenty of space with your therapist/trainer]. They have great equipment - you can tell they care about investing in technology/tools for PT and training. Speaking of, they also have trainers, massage, yoga [offered privately or small group]. Jessica's assisted yoga sessions feel like "moving physical therapy/bodywork" to me - I go weekly. She knows exactly how you should move to work out your issues or strengthen where you need. Scheduling and logistics are made easy by the friendly team at the front and it's just all around a great place and they even have easy parking! Side note, they also have an infrared sauna for clients, (it's amazing).
Fantastic experience: Kevin Plattner is an amazing PT who helped me tremendously through a neck injury that ultimately required surgery. Kevin was great both pre and post surgery helping me so that I could have a successful recovery. With his help I was able to get back to my active lifestyle and keep doing the things I enjoy.
Fantastic experience: Kyle is the best Physical Therapist I’ve ever had! I was having multiple issues related to Pelvic Floor, Abdomen, Back, and Hip. He provided me relief from pain after the first two sessions and had me feeling better than normal in a couple of weeks. Kyle gives his patients his full attention. As we worked together, he also took the time to share his wealth of knowledge, how my multiple issues were interconnected and helped me understand the how and why that will help me remain healthy and active for many years to come. Thank so much for all your help.
Fantastic experience: Kyle helped me get back to where I was before a lingering injury kept me out of commission for 3 months. Great place for PT that tailors the treatment to your experiences and goals.
Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience working with Julia and Kyle. All of the Physical Therapists at The Movement Guild are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
Fantastic experience: I was referred to the Movement Guild by Dr. Cohen for an imbalance in my vestibular system. All staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The booking and payment processes are very easy. It is great that they have a parking lot. I worked with Adam, Milan, and Julia. All three have their own unique approach to treatment which are all very effective. The three of them communicated extremely well about my progress and needs. Milan is especially thorough. Julia is extremely personable; I loved working with her. All three kept great notes and informed me of my progress. I would highly recommend this place for any and all needs. If I have any physical therapy needs in the future, I will definitely be returning.
Fantastic experience: The Movement Guild was recommended to me when I was looking for a pelvic floor therapist following the birth of my first baby. Erin was fantastic. She is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and professional. Her assessment of my problem areas was spot on. I also appreciated that she recognized when I became strong enough that I no longer needed therapy. It was obvious that her goal was for me to "graduate" as opposed to keep coming in just to get more money out of me. The facility itself is very nice and the their reservationist, Anya, is very responsive and accommodating.
Fantastic experience: I had the best experience with Julia at the Movement Guild. This was my first experience working with a PT and I was floored. She was extremely professional, attentive and knowledgeable. She paid close attention to detail and I can’t imagine what I would have done without her.
Fantastic experience: I was referred to the Movement Guild and Kyle specifically, and I am so glad that I was. Kyle resolved my issue in one visit, and I followed up and saw him a few more times to reinforce my new routine. He is knowledgeable, patient. He's a great practitioner and someone I cannot recommend highly enough!
Fantastic experience: I have been getting massages from Jessica for two years now. She is amazing at targeting your exact needs. I suffer from migraines and she has helped decrease pressure and strain in my neck, shoulder, and face that often are trigger points for my migraines. She is knowledgeable in many different techniques and will use a mix of these techniques to release tension throughout your body and just make you feel good!
Fantastic experience: Milan and the Movement Guild Team are awesome!! They are extremely intelligent and will open your eyes up to why you have pain in certain areas. I went in the fix an 8 year shoulder issue….4 weeks later I had zero pain and have not had pain since. They gave great advice on how to help your entire body with breathing excersizes and stretching. Highly recommend!!!
Fantastic experience: After returning from a long trekking trip, my knee (which had always been somewhat problematic) was even worse and I was no longer able to run short distances. As an active person, this was a big problem! I decided it was time to try PT for the first time and really address my knee pain. I was referred to the Movement Guild and Erin specifically by a friend and I am so glad I was! My knee pain has resolved and I have such a better understanding of how to maintain the progress I have made and what focus on in the future if it returns. Erin was knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate throughout the process. I cannot thank her enough and I would highly recommend the Movement Guild to anyone in need of PT!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to The Movement Guild for about a year and a half now - seeing Erin for physical therapy from the start, and in the last few months also seeing Jessica for massage. I can’t say enough good things about both of them! They truly care about their clients and go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. Anya is also so helpful and kind in managing insurance and scheduling. If you’re in need of a physical therapist or massage therapist (or both), definitely check this place out!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience working with Kyle Blair on my pelvic floor issues. Kyle was at the top of the referral list I got from my urologist, and for good reason, I think. I remember being very nervous when I first came in, but Kyle quickly gained my trust and helped me adapt to what has always been a challenge for me: exercising in front of other people. I really appreciated Kyle's expertise and his ability to explain to my satisfaction the purpose and context of each exercise. When I admitted some were difficult to do in my overly crowded home, he could always suggest an alternative form of the exercise to try. I really appreciated his ability to match my needs. His is *not* a one-size-fits-all approach, and his willingness to listen and customize while still meeting therapeutic goals showed his skill in his profession. It was the best kind of support I could imagine and left me with all the tools I need to maintain my progress on my own.
Fantastic experience: This is a one -stop shop for anyone serious about athletics or physical health. I am an active triathlete and have utilized all services: personal training, physical therapy, yoga, and massage. All are wonderful. My trainer will communicate with the physical therapist so that we can incorporate supporting movements and exercises into my training plan for consistency and improved strength and mobility. Massage and yoga have become an integral part of my routine to balance the wear and tear associated with endurance sport training and have helped to keep me injury free. The entire staff at the Movement Guild are dedicated to their profession and seem invested in helping their clients achieve health related goals.
Fantastic experience: Professional, caring and efficient service. Kyle listened to my issues, assessed my strengths and weaknesses and mapped out a plan to help me get stronger. He shared valuable insights and made it clear that his ultimate goal was to teach me to do the right things to continue to strengthen my knee. I would highly recommend Kyle and the Movement Guild team for your PT needs.
Fantastic experience: Adam Wolf was thorough and very insightful in his testing and observations. At the same time he was extremely nice and kind. And the service director Anya Ross was really helpful and sweet. So, only been there once so far but have a great first impression of the facility and people. UPDATE 3/20/21: Now been to 4 sessions and are officially raving fans! Adam is extremely knowledgeable and my wife is experiencing definite benefits from his therapy. And everyone there is super friendly. Should also mention that the vibe is really relaxed and comfortable, not at all intimidating. Definitely recommend The Movement Guild.
Fantastic experience: Erin was the Physical Therapist I saw here, and she was wonderful! Really could not recommend her enough. I've been to many different PT places over the years. The Movement Guild is just different, in the best way possible. When I started with them I was in a lot of daily discomfort and pain. It's like night and day now, day-to-day activities that were very painful are no longer an issue. I really loved my experience here.
Fantastic experience: This place is incredible! The environment is uplifting and cheerful. Every person is is so incredibly kind. Anya answers any questions you have quickly and with a smile. I do physical therapy with mostly with Adam and Kevin. Kevin is considerate and knowledgeable. He tailors the sessions to your needs that day and is always supportive! Adam exceptional to work with. Adam explains what we are working on and why in detail. He is patient and encouraging. He always asks for my input and what he can do for me that session. It’s a very individual approach. And I have seen huge positive results! I’ve been to all types of therapies to try to help with a concussion I got recently and nothing has helped me as much as The Movement Guild. This place is like the epitome of patient centered care. If you’re looking for a PT and don’t know where to start, you won’t be disappointed here.
Fantastic experience: A massage with Jessica is amazing. She is very knowledgeable, focused and strong + super helpful to get stretching exercises to do at home. My partner also sees Kevin and Adam for Physical Therapy following an injury - highly professional and took great care to understand what was wrong and put the right plan in place - great progress so far!
Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Movement Guild. I have been dealing with chronic hip pain and tried 3 other PTs before finding Movement Guild. Erin has given comprehensive care since my first visit. They use a holistic approach to physical therapy focusing on the whole body, not just where the pain occurs. Erin has been thoughtful describing proper body mechanics and the need to recreate new neural pathways for movement. This holistic approach has given me relief and allowed my recovery to progress.
Fantastic experience: Excellent! Anya handled the appointment and insurance and scheduling and made it so easy. Adam impressed me with is knowledge and experience. Knew all about boxing injuries and tailored the treatment to my unique condition. Jessica gave a massage that relieved the pain and relaxed me. Very skilled and friendly. The entire experience was top notch. They came highly recommended by my boxing coach. I highly recommend them and will be back!
Fantastic experience: I worked with Erin earlier this year through an overuse running injury and her therapy was extremely effective. She was professional and attentive to my symptoms and concerns and spent the appropriate amount of time gathering information, applying her knowledge, and modifying her practice specifically to my needs. As a fellow employee in health care, she spoke my language and was clear with her directions and purpose. But most genuinely, she decreased the number of monthly sessions as she gauged my improvement - a testament that she is not in business for financial gain, but to help her patients improve the way they feel and move. I cannot say enough positive about Erin and this PT studio. I am now running pain-free because of the at-home PT she taught me, and I lowered my personal best in the marathon this year by over 20 minutes as a result. Thank you Erin!
Fantastic experience: I had been to The Movement Guild several times for a massage and some strengthening movement work with Jessica Carlin. Her skills are beyond compare. This time I sought out PT for an injury. Kevin Plattner listened patiently to my saga. He asked pointed questions regarding my history and current activities. We then did some movement to assess what was happening with my knee. He assigned homework exercises that I could easily do on my own. The front desk scheduler and receptionist, Anya is fantastic. She took my information and researched my insurance coverage. She contacted my doctor’s office for x-Ray and MRI images prior to my appointment. She is prompt getting back with emails and answering questions. She is welcoming and friendly. All in all my experience has been excellent at TMG. I highly recommend them. I have now been getting PT with Kevin for several weeks. I walked in needing a cane and I now can maneuver without it! My knee feels so much improvement. The attention to detail and concern for my overall mobility is really helping me on the road to recovery!! I can’t say enough about how well taken care I feel at TMG.
Fantastic experience: It would be impossible for me to overstate what an amazing experience I've had working with Erin at The Movement Guild! If you stop reading here, just know you won't find a better PT then Erin! Erin has an uncanny ability to breakdown and explain complex biomechanics simply to help you understand the root causes of your injuries and how the exercises she's leading you through are meant to help, giving you the tools to get and stay injury free. She also does a remarkable job listening, really hearing how your recovery is going and adjusting exercises on a session to session basis to focus on exactly what you need to recover. With Erin in my corner I was finally able to resolve knee and hip issues I'd been struggling with for 2 years, and check off a bucket list item by completing the Chicago Marathon this year. Thank you so much to her and everyone at The Movement Guild for their help and support! I should also add that Jessica is an amazing masseuse! I scheduled a massage with her for the day after the marathon (and she and Erin are both truly accommodating with their schedules!); I came in hobbling and left feeling like a new man! I am certain Jessica cut my recovery in half or more with her excellent work!
Fantastic experience: Owner Adam Wolf is as knowledgeable as he is nice. I taught a PT seminar here and would recommend it to any of my patients or anyone who is in the Chicago area. If you need physical therapy, rehab for any injury, massage, wellness, strength and conditioning and fitness they have you covered!
