Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center - Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Los Angeles: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Amanda Stuart is wonderful PT and amazing person who I had the good fortune and pleasure to see for treatment of pelvic floor issues. For a guy, it can be intimidating to talk about such a personal problem but Amanda made it incredibly easy. She's warm, engaged, down-to-earth, so passionate about helping people heal and she knows her stuff. I left the first session feeling optimistic and, before long, began to see results. I'm so grateful that I ended up in her hands and am pleased to report that I feel back to normal.
Fantastic experience: My journey with persistent pelvic pain began 11 years ago, and like many of you I have been to numerous doctors in several cities, had many nerve blocks, pain medication for a number of years, and much PT. My primary issue is pain with sitting. There has been improvement now and then through the years, never anything lasting.I have known about Stephanie Prendergast for several years since reading her book “Pelvic Pain Explained “. Living in Tx, I thought being seen by her would be nearly impossible. But, in September, with my husband’s encouraging, I called the LA location. A virtual appointment was set up with Stephanie, and I had not even specifically asked for her. I couldn’t believe it! She was so easy to talk to, so incredibly knowledgeable from many years of experience with people like me. I then traveled to CA for a series of several appointments over one week. I saw Stephanie 3 times for 2 hr. appointments each, and she was able to pinpoint my issues involving muscles, nerves, fascia, etc., and provide new treatment techniques. She also coordinated appointments for me to see a urologist and pain doctor while there. Number 1 to me is she is willing and wanting to coordinate my treatment plan with not only the above specialists, but also with my pelvic floor therapist here in TX. They are in regular communication about my PT that I continue. I am much, much improved and have been able to sit much longer, thus enabling me to travel again!!! I am so thankful for Stephanie and her devotion to helping pelvic pain patients!!! M Riley
Fantastic experience: Emily E. helped me so much. I was having issues with my frequent urination. I guess my Pelvic Floor was too tight from all the muscles I developed in gym over years and it was causing all types of issues. She taught me how to massage and relax them and it really helped change my life. Thanks Emily.
Fantastic experience: Words can’t explain how much physical therapy helped me out. I had no idea what was going on after countless tests and invasive procedures. Emily gave me all the tools to relieve the CPPS/pudendal neuralgia symptoms I had. If you’ve been searching through the reddit rabbit hole, just stop and try this out. I was in therapy from march 14 2023 until mid September ish. I have not had any pain since being released. Thank you so much, Emily and Sabrina!
Fantastic experience: I can't imagine a better person to make Pelvic Floor Therapy feel accessible and non-intimidating than Amanda Stuart. She's knowledgeable, has helped me make great progress very quickly, and has a demeanor that put me at ease. I was able to "graduate" quickly from therapy and get back to life. I highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Amanda is wonderful. She listens, she develops and executes well thought out care plans and explains everything thoroughly along with her rationale for the thought process. Sabrina at the front desk is awesome too, she’s very friendly, welcoming, and responds very quickly to emails and calls. I can’t say enough great things about the staff of PHRC.
Fantastic experience: Emily Eckmann and PHRC have been instrumental in my healing from endometriosis as well as finding the right endo specialist & surgeon. Without Emily's sincere care, thoughtful guidance and effective treatment (pre & post surgery), I would not be relieved of the chronic pain I've experienced for years and years. Her service has been life changing for me. Highly recommend Emily Echmann and PHRC.
Fantastic experience: Working with Amanda has been amazing. She's so knowledgable and positive. She stays professional but makes you feel comfortable and feels like a friend. I would recommend her to any one!
Fantastic experience: I am writing this review on behalf of my husband who suffered for years before finding PHRC. "Stephanie works miracles and is the one of the most professional healthcare specialists I have ever encountered. I suffered for years and was completely misdiagnosed until I found this office. Well worth waiting for and well worth every $$ and that is not common these days in healthcare."
Fantastic experience: My knowledgeable, kind therapist literally changed my life, after experiencing sudden, high level pain. Consider buying the book, was extremely enlightening!
Fantastic experience: Emily is absolutely amazing, she is so kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. I've been in pelvic PT on and off for years in different places across the US and it took me a while to find the right fit in LA. From the first visit with Emily I knew I was in expert hands and could trust her with me care. She also coordinate with my other provider (with my permission of course) to brainstorm different treatment plans to help with my total care. I couldn't ask for a better practice or person to work with!
Fantastic experience: Stephanie at PHRC is a tremendous help with my very rare pelvic/neurological condition that not too many specialists even know about. My urologist suggested I see her after weeks of wearing a catheter and being on bed rest and unable to work. She took the time to review my very extensive medical files and knew right away what she had to do. Within a few weeks I was already doing much better after months of pain and agony. She also took the time to communicate with all of my doctors, as well as set me up with doctors that were more experienced with my condition. She really cares about her patients and their well being/recovery. I will always be thankful for Stephanie and her team at PHRC!
Fantastic experience: Lorena and all the staff at the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center are outstanding. Lorena is super kind and made the whole experience as painless as possible. She explained everything in great detail so I was able to really understand WHY we were doing each thing. And they can help with so much more than just the typical pelvic floor issues! I had hip pain that I couldn't resolve on my own and the work I did with Lorena was so helpful.
Fantastic experience: There is so much good to say about Lorena and the pelvic health and rehabilitation center. As an advanced sports massage therapist and personal trainer, I had pelvic floor issues that I could not figure out. And no other practitioners or doctors could either. In general there seems to be vague information and mysterious treatment protocols in regards to this area of the body. I am beyond grateful to Stephanie and her team for connecting the dots and creating a specific and result oriented system. Stephanie and Lorena teamed up on my intake and spelled out a comprehensive plan. Long story short is that they delivered the results that I’ve been shopping for. Lorena pulled this off in 8 sessions. I wish I had found this center 15yrs earlier LOL. Right now I have a couple mild lingering symptoms, but overall I have 75% relief!!! They explained that there are some progressions for my next round of treatment to continue my healing. Lorena did all of my treatments and she somehow found away to make treatment relaxing although I was tight and had so much pain. It’s such a relief to feel the pelvic floor muscles soften and feel more normal like the rest of my body. Thanks guys
Fantastic experience: Stephanie's knowledge on the pelvic floor is second to none. She has seen the entire range of pelvis related issues throughout her career. Thus you will be in the best hands in terms of coming up with a tailored treatment plan to match your existing physical condition. Stephanie's patience in listening to your story, offering her expertise while evaluating your body and overall empathy is of the highest order. Would definitely recommend Stephanie & PHRC to anyone looking to regain their quality of life, in more ways than one.
Fantastic experience: Jillian is the most wonderful, skilled physical therapist, and I highly recommend her! I have worked with other PTs and Jillian is top notch! She has such a calm, kind energy and she really listens to you and makes you feel comfortable. My issues stem from endometriosis and Jillian is a wealth of knowledge and employs great techniques. She also taught me exercises to do at home and provided excellent suggestions of items and therapies that may assist with relief. I have learned so much from her and she spotted an issue that no one (doctor or otherwise) ever spotted before in my 10+ years fighting this disease. She also provided me with great referrals to other specialists who may be able to help. I cannot recommend Jillian enough!
Fantastic experience: I felt immediately comfortable with Stephanie and the physical evaluation. She is a problem-solver and has gone to bat for me - has been unwilling to let me continue with a pain pattern of 30 years. She has referred me to two other doctors with whom she communicates regularly to give me a "team" approach. She is unfailingly caring and skilled. She has helped avoid a whole host of post-hysterectomy problems.
Fantastic experience: I came in to see Tiffany with extreme pelvic pain. Over last several months, Tiffany has helped me with many types of exercises while constantly adjusting them as my condition improved. She has been extremely knowledgable in suggesting tests that have helped me greatly. I am much better now thanks to her expertise and support.
Fantastic experience: Pelvic Health has honestly changed my life. I came in on recommendation from my GI. I had been suffering from chronic constipation most of my life and it was made even worse by the birth of my daughter. I had tried all the usual solves that google had for me and thought I was just stuck with it. After just a few sessions with Lorena Rios I saw a huge change. Not only that, but I really enjoyed spending time with Lorena, which is important when you're having 1 hour sessions of what can be uncomfortable therapy. After she helped me get things moving, she recommended I also talk to Jandra Mueller at Pelvic Health for help with my nutrition, for completeness. Jandra's approach to nutrition was so holistic, it really felt like the advice took into consideration everything going on with me and my body. I never thought I could be someone that was regular, but Lorena and Jandra changed that for me, and I'm so thankful! It really changed my quality of life to be regular.
Fantastic experience: Like many women in midlife, I have pelvic floor issues. I have seen four different pelvic floor therapist over the years and the best of that group is Jillian Giannini at Pelvic Health & Rehabilitation Jillian works very carefully in a sensitive area. She takes special care to make the experience comfortable both emotionally and physically. She has an intuitive understanding of the patient and easily understood my unique needs and specific limitations. I’ve made a lot of progress working with Jillian, more than with any other therapist I’ve seen. I’m deeply grateful that I found Pelvic Health & Rehabilitation
Fantastic experience: Incredible service for so many patients in need! Knowledgeable, experienced, kind hearted providers lead by Stephanie Prendergast who I consider the guru of pelvic rehab.
Fantastic experience: Great friendly place, a real gem. Lorena really helped me with address dysfunction and tight muscles, after years of discomfort and pain. Highly recommended for specialist treatment of men's CPPS
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend PHRC and Lorena in particular. Background A few months ago, I developed pelvic pain when sitting for extended periods, which was probably caused by a new workout routine, and was later misdiagnosed with prostatitis and prescribed powerful antibiotics for a non-existent bacterial infection. I was then referred to urological and colorectal specialists, but after spending hours researching my pain and receiving negative results for other conditions, I came to the conclusion that my problem was most likely a physical therapy problem and decided to book an appointment at PHRC. Parking There is parking in the building, but it's easy to find 2-hour metered parking along the eastern and southern perimeters of the building. Treatment On my first appointment, I was treated by Lorena and Stephanie, who walked me through everything and answered all of my questions. I felt like I was in good hands from the beginning and saw a marked improvement in my pain the following day. Lorena took over from my second session onwards, and after 3 sessions in total, my pain was reduced by 90%. Lorena is super knowledgeable, easy going, and went above and beyond to answer all of my inane questions about anatomy, pelvic floor dysfunction, and physical therapy in general. She made an uncomfortable process as easy as possible and the results are more than worth it. I still can't believe the pain I had been struggling with for months was basically fixed within two weeks. After a few more sessions, I would say the pain is basically 99% gone now and I'm back to lifting weights, sitting for hours without issue, and just living my life again. I'm lucky I didn't waste more time and money on expensive, invasive, and ultimately pointless uro/colorectal tests when it turns out I just had pelvic muscle dysfunction that was healed with massage and foam rolling exercises. If you've been struggling with pelvic pain and gone through the gauntlet of prostate "treatments" with little to no results, I highly recommend trying physical therapy. Don't give up and resign yourself to needless suffering!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Jillian Giannini at PHRC for about 2 years now. I was referred to her by my OB who said that PHRC was one of very few places who would actually do internal PFPT; which is pretty incredible when you stop to think about it. Jillian has helped relax my muscles and nervous system, she’s given me great referrals to doctors who could help me in specialty areas, and she treated me through before/after care for surgery. I would HIGHLY recommend PHRC (especially Jillian Giannini) to anyone seeking PFPT!
Fantastic experience: As a local urologist, I have referred numerous patients to this center with just fantastic results. They are incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, and patient - I can't thank them enough for everything they have done for my patient's. Truly an amazing team! Thank you!!
Fantastic experience: Pelvic Health & Rehabilitation absolutely changed my life. The level of care I received here is absolutely unmatched--and I've seen my fair share of doctors! Stephanie is the best of the best, and she was able to put the pieces of my unique case together and create a treatment plan for all of my doctors to follow. She also took the time to contact my doctors, which took so much pressure off of me to report back to them. It's apparent that Stephanie truly cares about her patients, as she always made sure to check in on my progress via email. Stephanie is extremely generous with her time, and I am so grateful to have been treated by her. If you have the means to visit Pelvic Health, rest assured that you will be in the best of hands.
Fantastic experience: Stephanie is an absolute GOD SEND. I am currently 4 months out post op from my endometriosis excision surgery. My surgeon told me right from the start that pelvic floor PT would be instrumental in my healing process and highly recommended Stephanie. Boy, was she right. I started PT a month after my surgery, and I’m so glad I did. I can confidently say that I would be nowhere near to where I am now on my healing path without PT, and Stephanie is truly the best (although I’m sure that her entire team is wonderful, she wouldn’t settle for less). I was so nervous going in, I had no idea what to expect. From our first session, Stephanie put me at ease right away. She is so knowledgeable, so kind, and so personable. Even the parts that should be uncomfortable are easy because of her “bedside manner”. We honestly usually just chat away through our entire session while she works on me! If I ever have questions or concerns, she addresses them and remembers them, letting me know that she truly cares about my well-being and my progress. Also, she actually GETS endometriosis and how it affects us in a way that, frankly, many doctors don’t. She is on the right side of the research and the fight to make this condition more manageable. But ultimately, the best part about Stephanie is that she has addressed and greatly helped my pain, and in doing so has changed my life! And to think, we’re not even done yet! I will truly be sad the day that our time working together comes to an end. Thank you to Stephanie and to the whole PHRC team for all you do!
Fantastic experience: I have suffered for almost 6 years with pain in my pelvis almost impossible to describe to anyone who has not experienced it. The closest I can come, is comparing it to an electric shock which sends your entire rear end into a hard spasm which never stops [in my case, whenever I am seated or lying down] . I have been to virtually every type of specialist in back pain. I’ve had acupuncture, did my very best at yoga, finally even had back surgery (which did indeed solve a problem, but not THIS problem). I found this place and Stefanie Prendergast through an online search. It is the first time I feel like I’m in the hands of an expert in this particular issue, for both women and MEN. Stephanie also recommended me to a pain management doctor; It appears I have a variety of issues some of which can be dealt with through Stephanie‘s physical therapy and some of which requires medical intervention. Stefanie and her team are genuinely passionate about educating the medical community and the many silence suffers Like myself who think they are alone. One of the first great reliefs of visiting PHRC was discovering I was anything but alone. Far more men suffer from some variation of neuropathic pelvic pain than I had realized. Considering the intimacy of the process, the physical therapy they offer is done with great compassion and a matter-of-factness that makes any embarrassment quickly fade. Stephanie is phenomenally well educated (as is her entire staff) in all of the possible options for dealing with pelvic pain, some of which are very high tech and some of which are the healing power of simple human touch. It doesn’t happen overnight. It is a highly complex pain syndrome and patience is required. I am not by nature a patient person – – but I am learning the value of patience at PHRC. I already feel better. I have a ways to go, but I believe these people and those whom they recommend will be able to get my pain sufficiently under control that it is not the center of my life. It’s going to take some time and some patience. For the first time I have real hope that this life-dominating pain can be managed well enough that it no longer dominates my life. This place is really one of a kind, and the people are equally exceptional. Regardless of how “intimate“ your problem may be, they will make you feel comfortable, and – – if my experience is any example – – open up an entirely new world of possibilities for relief. I feel grateful to have found Stephanie and her fellow therapists,;. I cannot recommend them highly enough
Fantastic experience: I was referred to Stephanie Prendergast by another doctor for pelvic floor issues. After my initial consultation with Stephanie, I knew she is someone who deeply cares about her patients and will help me heal in a healthy way. She guided me through each and every PT session and taught me how to engage and relax my muscles, she also pointed out where I am tight and showed me the techniques and exercises for stretching. She quickly recognized the root causes and I am finally connected to my pelvic floor during my exercises. Stephanie is an extremely knowledgeable, caring, kind, and personable professional. She is a lifesaver and I wouldn't have been where I am today with my health if it was not for Dr. Prendergast. She has created a very professional environment in her Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has pelvic floor issues, she is the best.
Fantastic experience: I am so happy and relieved to have connected with Stephanie Prendergast and Courtney Edgecomb! These women are incredibly knowledgable! They are the best!
Fantastic experience: As a pelvic health therapist I follow the Pelvic Health and Rehab blog to stay on top of the latest information. The professional staff is providing up to date and relevant information not only to patients but also to share with other professionals. Their interviews with specialists in the field guide us all and are appreciated since they connect those interested all across the country.
Fantastic experience: My experience comes from your online site. About four years ago I was suffering from intense pelvic pain radiating from the center of my perineal area and tail bone area. I had no idea that a trained Physical Therapist could heal that and none of my Doctors seemed to know how to fix it. After reading your posts concerning this pain in men I sought out a Rehab center in Memphis and found one. It took about four months of weekly visits and home exercises to eliminate the symptoms and I was pain free. Thank you for educating me and other men that this wasn't just a Female issue and that there is help out there.
Fantastic experience: I am a HUGE FAN of the PHRC blog! As a pelvic health physio in Ottawa, Ontario, the blogs are incredibly informative, well-researched and deal with a huge range of topics. I feel that both I as a clinician and my clients have benefitted. Thank you PHRC. Keep up the amazing work!!
Fantastic experience: Best appointment I ever booked a year ago with Pelvic Health and Rehab! I am living a full and pain free life now!
Fantastic experience: I am an avid supporter of this pages work. For years I experienced an indescribable level of pain in a personal private region of my body. It took me over 20 years of research to finally discover a doctor at Cleveland clinic who evaluated my condition and told me about trigger points that had developed inside my body in the musculature of my pelvic region and how it could be addressed. I finally got the majority of my relief in 2014. So I follow the PHRC closely looking for new insights watching it progress with the education it provides.
Fantastic experience: Such an incredible clinic for anyone with very complicated pelvic issues. they wont give up on you and they are extremely knowledge. Shoutout to Rachel and Stephanie!!
Fantastic experience: Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation provided me with outstanding physical therapy. They treat male and female clients with pelvic pain and other disorders of the pelvis. The staff are friendly, professional, and highly trained. I give them my highest recommendation.
Fantastic experience: Katie is a great listener. Gentle knowledgeable and if she didn’t know an answer she would do research.
Fantastic experience: I have found every person I have worked with at PH & RC to be superstars. So knowledgeable, caring and professional. They have been a godsend.
Fantastic experience: Everyone at the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation center is so professional, so friendly and they truly want to help you. Stephanie Prendergast is a life saver. Before I met her I had no hope that my life would be anything but constant pain and being bedridden despite seeing dozens of doctors and surgeons. After meeting her I am getting my life back! She listens to you, believes you, is caring, and most importantly will actually help and heal you. She is more educated on pelvic health than every doctor I’ve ever seen combined and more. She has spent so much time helping me, even outside of our appointments. Ive never met another health professional more dedicated to helping people.
Fantastic experience: The staff are courteous and genuine. Dr. Edgecomb has helped reduce my pain and has provided exceptional follow-up with my health partners. It's sad that it is exceedingly rare to find such medical professionals who are so devoted to helping patients live a pain-free life without pills.
Fantastic experience: I honestly wish I found PHRC sooner. I was living in pain going to various doctors and urologists who would be puzzled by my symptoms. The relief I received after my first visit was almost immediate. Katie is extremely professional and magical in her treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s hard to believe that the pelvic floor muscles play such a vital role in overall health. If there’s any doubt in your mind, do yourself a favor and visit PHRC sooner rather than later. It’s simply worth your overall health and well being.
Fantastic experience: Stephanie is seriously a miracle worker! After having two kids, I couldn’t so much as cough or sneeze without peeing my pants! I just thought this would be my new normal....until I met Stephanie. On my first visit, she could already tell by the way that I walked that my hips were tight. Yes, I kinda walk like a wrestler ♀️ She did a lot of massage as well as some cupping to loosen up my hips and Inner thighs. I had no idea that having tight hips and inner thighs would hinder your ability to control your bladder. Stephanie was so full of knowledge and gave me a few simple exercises to do at home that just all around made me feel better. This might be TMI but she said that not only would I stop peeing my pants, but I’d have improved orgasms. She was right!! It’s crazy how something like urinary incontinence is ignored like it’s normal and it affects so many aspects of your life. Fast forward to my third visit with Stephanie and I’m markedly better. I went from peeing my pants every day (yes, every day) to almost non existent. Thank you, Stephanie! I’ll be singing your praises for life!
Fantastic experience: The clinicians at PHRC are not only experts at everything related to pelvic health but they also provide excellent case management and care coordination. They work with your team of providers to make sure you are given the best care possible. Could not be more impressed by their passion and commitment to their patients. Thank you, PHRC.
Fantastic experience: Jandra was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Men if you have had been diagnosed with prostatitis there's more you can do than just antibiotics. Jandra and staff are EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I seriously felt relief from my symptoms after the first visit! I had lost all hope for relief until I went in. I continue to do the exercises I was taught and to this day I am about 99% symptom-free. The research and work they have done is such a blessing. I have my LIFE back. Thank you Jandra, Katie, and staff.
Fantastic experience: From the moment you call in desperation for answers to pain that nobody else can seem to figure out, the team at PHRC is there for you every step of the way. They will figure out your issues and put you on a path to recovery. Five stars is simply not enough!
Fantastic experience: I was recommended the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center by my Urologist. Katie is an amazing therapist and is genuinely the first person who has been able to help my symptoms after a range of medication completely failed. She is knowledgable and professional and more importantly has 'magic hands'. For a while there I thought I would be in constant pain forever. I can happily say I'm mostly pain free since beginning treatment. It's criminal that this therapy isn't covered by insurance, it should be widely available. It should be the first port of call for people suffering from Non Bacterial Prostatitis. Can't recommend Katie enough.
Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation center. This place legitimately changed my life. I worked with Jandra, who was fantastic. After visiting countless doctors, I am so glad I found PHRC. They helped me heal. Forever grateful.
Fantastic experience: PHRC is the authority on pelvic pain. The number of people I know that have spent months and sometimes years looking for answers and help is astonishing. Everyone basically says the same thing, "if only I'd found you guys sooner."
Fantastic experience: So knowledgeable and thorough. I refer my clients to PHRC whenever pelvic floor issues are present, and I know they will be in good hands.
