Vanderbilt Dayani Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Therapists are great. Encouragement abounds. Love this place.
Fantastic experience: I just have to give a shout out not only to the entire team here (love my therapist Kim!) but the front desk. I have worked in healthcare for over 10 years running the front desk and clerical side and I know how hard (and thankless) of a job it can be- but every person I've interacted with up front here has been friendly, helpful, and patient. Thank you for what you do! It's refreshing to enter a healthcare facility without a receptionist behind a glass window and a frown on their face!
Fantastic experience: I have Julia Russell for my Physical Therapy. She is knowledgeable , kind & caring and does a great treatment. She has worked on my left shoulder & flexibility as well as lymphedema prevention. I highly recommend her as a therapist as well as the center. My only suggestion is to add an entrance adjacent to parking lot for convenience.
Positive experience: Exceptional service recovery from Clinical Manager after poor scheduling experience. Comforted will stay within Vandy area for best continuum of care.
Positive experience: Scheduling was quite difficult almost as if they didn't want to take care of me. Rude and quick to get off the phone.
Fantastic experience: My experience with the lymphedema physical therapy program was amazing!
Fantastic experience: When I read a couple of negative comments, they are so contrary to my experience and observations it makes me question the veracity of the reports. The Natatorium (lay people call it a pool enclosure) has an extremely well designed ventilation system. I was employed at an Engineering & Construction firm (including pools). There is a perforated fabric duct (go see for yourself) suspended from the ceiling that supplies vast amounts treated air. The pool is warm by medical necessity, which does require high chlorine levels. But I observed the staff taking water tests during two or three vists out a total of eight scheduled sessions. Pool goggles are a good idea if you put your head in (not necessary for the therapy I had). The post that charges that the pool is "filthy" is, based on my experience, FALSE (maybe that was true but I never saw that). The decks, showers, locker rooms are cleaned constantly. There is a also generous supply of fresh towels (no limit) for use while visiting. A large role of large disposable baggies is supplied for your wet swimsuits. There are Body Wash ( I also used it as shampoo) dispensers supplied in showers. Dayani also supplies therapy floats, paddles, resistance ankle bracelets, and much more to boost session outcomes (isolating problem areas, and targeting goals). You will need a small padlock, your swimsuit, water shoes( I used dive booties I already had), I also wore a T-shirt in the pool to hide my scars. The staff prepares six page patient specific exercise print outs that include dozens(?) of exercises. Patients receive one-on-one instruction and are observed (also on on one) to make sure they do the exercises properly. I experienced light headedness after exiting the pool and the life guard noticed and was on me in a flash as was the therapist who had earlier been working with me. The statement below that "the life guard is usually outside the pool enclosure"'is, in my experience 180 ° false. If your eyes are sensitive to chorine, I suggest swim goggles. In eigh weeks at Dayani my recondition that result from being sedentary during and after cancer is now going in the opposite direction. Thanks Dayani Staff, and thank you Vanderbilt!
