Services and Treatments
Magee Rehabilitation Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Premiere Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia! (Far superior to Moss Rehab and Bryn Mawr Rehab).
Fantastic experience: Helped me recover from a severe auto accident/traumatic brain injury
Positive experience: Fabulous.
Fantastic experience: Great people. Fantastic care. Best in the tri-state area
Fantastic experience: Indeed Magee rehabilitation is the place to be if you want to rehabilitate yourself!
Fantastic experience: My husband is currently a patient there due to an accident and is now a tetraplegic. Most of the nurses and doctors are wonderful. However, some of the CNAs could be taught to have a better bedside manner. The facility is awesome with therapies and groups, always trying to keep the patient upbeat and looking forward. This is the best place for my husband.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, clean, modern, comfortable facility.
Positive experience: This place was out of this world wonderful. I enjoyed my 4 week stay. The music therapist and art therapist -- thank you both so very much. The OR outstanding. My PT very good. I didn't give 5 starts for this sad reason. I told the doctors I wasn't feeling well Friday. I was being discharged on Tuesday. They didn't listen then and didn't listen Monday nor Tuesday and told them also my place was not safe for me to live because my place isn't made for wheelchair use. It's not ADA friendly at all. But me not feeling well was ignored as well and it seemed they didn't care and just wanted me out cause someone new was coming in. I didn't matter anymore. And today not even 12 hours after discharge I find myself back in the hospital. How sad and makes me wonder if I return will this happen again. I thought you were different than the last places that did the same exact thing to me. Can we be doctors who care and do what is necessary that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff and great place for rehab very clean nice large rooms
Fantastic experience: Nice staff, always friendly doc Lax and her nurse are such an angel. The information desk is pretty nice. And even the cleaning staff went out the way to show me where the bathroom is. I wish I knew their name. They deserve recognition.
Positive experience: 95% remarkable could not wish for a better places or more compassion. However there is a political biased few who hold these beliefs above all else. They are dangerous. CFS? DEPENDS. Before returning the COOPER/MAGEE surveys, update review, as it took years to realize the politics hiding within a wonderful purpose to torpedo surgery and break some bones before... Transfer from COOPER Trauma Center nightmare Same game there. Incognito. AMA failed oversight. Where ABA is necessary preventive maintenance cover up. It's a mess. Compassion Fatigue Syndrome and related conditions in health care and first responder professions. They need treatment find the money and get it done. Make earth a better place to be.
Fantastic experience: My brother had neck surgery and he was in here and this is the best and I mean the best rehab I've ever ever heard of they helped him 100% And they are wonderful and God bless everybody that works at McGee
Positive experience: PT and OTs were absolutely outstanding when I was there back in 2020. I liked the music and art stuff they offered too. Nurses were really nice Dr.s were great and cared for me. However, I didn't really like some of the CNAs 90% were cool but a couple were kinda mean and the food sucked. I would recommend they helped me out a whole lot and made my experience as comfortable as possible.
Fantastic experience: This review is LOONG OVERDUE. My father suffered a mild stroke November of last year. He was initially cared for at Temple Hospital and then transferred to Magee for rehabilitation. This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The facility is clean, the food is delicious (dad’s opinion) and the staff is WONDERFUL. They took such good care of my father. They kept us fully aware and updated the entire time. They even accommodated and made an exception for visitation due to myself and my sister’s work schedules. I was never worried the entire time he was there. I highly recommend this facility.
Fantastic experience: When I was first paralyzed they treated you with dignity and respect and treated you like you were family
Fantastic experience: I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and sent to Magee for inpatient rehab. When I was at Jefferson hospital and asked whether I would prefer to stay at Jefferson or go to Magee, most of the Jefferson staff was cagey when asked what the difference was. I soon found out from a PT and a CNA that Magee was much nicer with a better facility, better alternative therapy (art therapy, music therapy, horticulture therapy, rec therapy), private rooms, better food, etc. staying at Jefferson rehab would likely mean a shared room. The Magee experience was beyond wonderful. I cannot imagine a better place to heal or better people to help me heal. My core team was an amazing group of human beings my OT Shelby, PT Ali, music therapy with John, art therapy with Julie, almost all of the nurses and CNA’s were extremely thoughtful, pleasant, compassionate, and caring. The food was actually pretty decent, think nice college cafeteria food. The rooms are recently renovated although I highly recommend trying to get on the second floor if you care about hdmi ports on the TV for other devices i.e. roku, video games, etc. if you are on a floor without functioning hdmi ports, the concierge Robin is an absolutely wonderful person who will hook you up with a tv that has what you need. The concierge service is always so willing and able to get you the things you need and were so helpful and friendly. All in all it was a life changing experience that leaves me a Magee devotee. I plan on volunteering as much as possible there once I recover. As soon as I landed there, the nightmare I was living had ended. Magee is magic if you open your heart to it.
Fantastic experience: My uncle, who suffered a paralyzing stroke in July, was in the wonderful care of the caring and sweet people at Magee from August through October. I went to visit him once and I was blown away, not only by the caring, supporting and truly empathetic staff, but also by the beautiful surroundings. My uncle had a huge room with floor-to-ceiling windows where the sunshine poured in. The entire facility was so clean and beautiful, after an extensive renovation, that it almost reminded me of a five-star corporate resort. The hallways were wide and quiet, with nary a beeping machine or tubing in sight. Because of being paralyzed on the left side, and having a feeding tube, the staff had to use an automatic pneumatic lift that brought him from the room to the bathroom for bathing. It was so cleverly engineered and tucked out of sight, that you really didn't have a clue that you were in the rehab room of a paralyzed patient. Despite being garbed in head-to-toe PPE for COVID, each member of the staff I came in contact with was friendly, supportive, caring and empathic. I truly felt the caring come all the way through their PPE. Everyone in our family was able to sigh a breath of relief because we knew our uncle was in great hands.
Fantastic experience: About 5-6 years ago I spent months at Magee with my fiance who was paralyzed in a diving accident. The entire staff went above and beyond with his care not to mention the time they took with me helping me to get through this whole process. They cried with you, they hugged you and felt every bit of your pain. We were never alone. We learned so much from their caring staff. I cant begin to thank these people enough. It truly hurts to see some of the negative feed back that was left for here. This staff is highly trained to deal with traumatic injuries. We should all be grateful that theres such a wonderful place as Magee to take our loved ones to. I often say that the next chance I get to come to Philly that my first stop would be to Magee. Thank you Magee for all you did for Russ and our family and the many other people you help.
Fantastic experience: GREAT PEOPLE
Fantastic experience: Can not imagine how anyone can top this facility. ..Everyone cares.
Fantastic experience: My husband has been in Magee since late December 2019 and the RNs, Technicians, Physical and Occupational, Chaplain, Social Worker, Receptionists and even some of the Cafeteria workers have been AMAZING! I heard all great things about Magee and was so excite to get him in there just based on reviews but I have to say I have been blessed with their personal care. Since day 1 he has shown improvement and while he personally resists at times they never place judgement on him but rather work with him more to show him that HE MATTERS! I was so Impressed that since the beginning of his stay they always Persia lily addressed him as with any questions and I know after 21 years that this made him feel just as important as he felt about himself before his stroke. He is really hard to deal With at times but nevertheless they always treat him the same, with love and care and have taught him to smile again and have hope! I see the change I him mentally and mostly emotionally. He is more receptive to laughter despite his normal scowl. He wants to eat now and want to talk and mostly want to walk again! As a family we were always confident he’d recover, although we l ew it would be slowly, we were still excited to see some of him comeback to us. Since he’s been here I have seen bits of him coming back everyday. They never stop teaching him to believe in himself and fight for his recovery. Magee’s staff fights for him as well and reassures him daily that he can do things again and that he IS getting better. Thank you Magee! I see his shine peaking through each day!
Fantastic experience: The staff and environment are wonderful!! They encourage their patients and support the family in more ways than I can put into words!!!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful scenery and several amazing ways to help patients with their injuries.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful Staff
Fantastic experience: Dr. Guy Fried is great!
Positive experience: Great place, miss rehab at Magee. Just left Friday.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service...a warm greeting from security...everyone including patients are friendly...clean faculty ...bathrooms sparkling
Fantastic experience: Not now
Fantastic experience: I spent four weeks at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital after brain surgery in 2014. The warmth and gentle supportive care could be felt in every aspect of the facility from the administrative staff, security staff, cafeteria and obviously most especially from the therapists and doctors and nurses. I can still feel that when I take the time. I'm very grateful to everyone there for making what could have been the worst time in my life a little less awful. I recommend Magee to everyone I know. I feel blessed that I was sent there.
Fantastic experience: Best rehab in Philadelphia
