Your tennis team is wondering if you can play this week. Going to the gym is a waste. Doing that 1/2 marathon with your friends is a bust. All I can do is walk the dog!
This is where it all begins. On this 15 min phone consultation, we will listen as you talk about what limitations you are dealing with now and how it is affecting your life. We are really good listeners and spend more time with you on the phone than most Doctors spend with you in their office. We want to make sure we are the best fit for helping you. The next step is the Evaluation and the start of Your 3 Step Process.
“I’ve had knee pain that has steadily gotten worse since I was 19 (I’m 38 now). Joel was able to identify my problems and get me on track to pain free mobility in four visits. I am starting to run again after years of thinking iI never would. I am an occupational therapist and would attest to Joel’s expertise in rehabilitation… he is a cut above the rest! I really appreciate how strategically he plans your treatment so that each visit gives you a big step toward recovery; no waste with Joel!”
“As I was training for a marathon I developed ankle pain that remained ongoing through the weeks after the race. I met the Mission Move staff at Big Peach run club and chose their practice because I knew they were runners as well. The physical therapy sessions were extremely helpful and the staff was very efficient on targeting the problem and finding a solution. I am very happy with the progress I made and will visit Mission Move for any future injury I may have!”
“I highly recommend Joel! Id give him more stars if I could!! I have been living with lower back pain, sciatica and upper back pain for years. Tried literally everything including chiro, lacrosse balls, stretching, acupuncture, too many drs to count, etc. Joel made me pain free almost immediately! He tailored his approach to my individual needs and taught me how to relieve it myself and how to exercise again. Id recommend him to anyone that needs physical therapy or thinks they might need it. You will be glad you went. A great guy with an amazing depth of knowledge.”
“I met with Joel to help me prepare for a 130 mile gravel bike race in middle Georgia. Joel set me up with an initial bike fitting and we worked together to create a mobility and strength program to set me up for success. With the help of the program, I was able to reach my goal and complete the race! Definitely appreciate all the help and effort from Joel in getting me across the finish line.”

Mission Move Physical Therapy: Reviews
Fantastic experience: North Point Physical Therapy has done a great job not only with need for physical therapy but also my wife and kids as well. Excellent service, great knowledge of injuries not just relating to sports but also work or day to day life as well. Joel gives focused 1 to 1 attention always and never works on our issues longer than needed. Get's good results in what I feel is less time than other practices. Highly recommend North Point Physical Therapy to all ages and issues. Joel is outstanding.
Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Joel Eaby. He is an amazing physical therapist who was able to identify the cause of a problem I have had 10+ years and no other PT or doctor had identified my issue. He literally changed my life. Not only is he an expert in his field, but hel is always personally available for any questions or concerns I may have. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a physical therapist.
Fantastic experience: I was in a car accident a few months back and had back, neck and shoulder pain following. Joel Eaby healed me quicker than I expected. He is very knowledgable of his craft. He thoroughly explains where and why I was having pain in certain areas and how to fix it. He gave me at home simple, easy exercises to make sure my pain does not come back. I would recommend Joel and North Point Physical Therapy to everyone, especially those with back pain!
Fantastic experience: Joel Eaby at No. Point Physical Therapy is great ! I had low back pain for almost 20 years. I worked Joel on a PT / conditioning program that has kept me virtually pain-free for over 2 years now. I unconditionally recommend Joel to my friends and colleagues who need PT.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Joel Eaby is an outstanding PT professional. Joel helped me recover from a ruptured achilles tendon...he kept me well informed, and created the right treatment plan to keep me motivated and determined to reach full recovery. Joel even spent his own time researching more and more about my specific injury, which showed his commitment to helping speed along my recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Eaby to anyone in need of this type of care.
Fantastic experience: If you come to see Joel very often, you are likely to ask him at some point, "What is wrong with that woman?" I am THAT woman! I walk stooped over and am unable to stand straight. My condition is not curable and causes me all kinds of problems. And Joel helps me with each and every one of them. Whether it's my back, hip, shoulder or neck, Joel studies the issue and comes up with a treatment to help. He is smart, skillful, patient and kind. I truly believe he has helped my mobility more than I could have imagined. I can't thank him or recommend him highly enough!
Fantastic experience: I recently sought Joel’s assistance when a previous neck injury flared up. I have only positive things to say about my experience. I’ve worked with three other PTs over the years, some of whom were great. Joel, however, takes a different approach whereby he designs treatment to be quick and effective. I’m sure every injury is different, but I found it very refreshing to meet with him three times rather 20 (or 60). He’s an active listener and really zeroes in on his clients’ concerns and goals, ensuring the treatment is centered around them. My pain was resolved quickly and I received instructions on how to help prevent future pain (as well as sit and stand with better posture) to boot! Joel is easy to work with, easy to schedule with, and just a nice guy. His humor makes the entire process enjoyable. I highly recommend Joel and his PT services.
Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Joel's off & on for several years. He has helped me to recover from my many sports related injuries & each time return to the tennis court. He really knows his stuff & keeps up to date on all the latest physical therapy developments. I highly recommend him!
Fantastic experience: I went to Joel in February for some sciatica pain. This was my first time going to physical therapy so I was a little skeptical/nervous at first. I was in a lot of pain after my marathon and nothing was working (stretching, resting, etc). After my initial consultation with Joel, he proceeded to do some dry needling on my pain area and after a few days, the sciatica pain was gone! He was professional, knowledgeable, and funny. I don't think I could have picked a better place to go because of the great experience I had.
Fantastic experience: I've gone to Joel Eaby twice now and I hope I never have to go back! Because he did a great job both times. The first was immediately after shoulder therapy in 2012. Joel pushed me to continue my exercises at home and helped me achieve my post-surgery goal of playing catch with my kids again. The second time was in the Spring of 2015. I have an old knee injury that has been aggravated by increased strength training. Joel gave me some exercises to increase strength and stability and taught me a more precise method of exercising. He takes the time to show you which muscles should be engaged and the proper form to do so.
Fantastic experience: Joel is my go to guy for ALL of my PT needs. He is my first stop when I am injured and he has always been able to help me - whether it's been problems with my knees, feet, back or shoulder. His diagnostic and clinical skills are second to none. HIGHLY recommend!
Fantastic experience: I met Joel after the Alpharetta Women’s Half Marathon in 2022. It was my first half marathon after a snapping hip injury sustained in late 2020. I had been in regular PT for 9 months, which helped with the accrue issue. I knew if I was going to progress with my running beyond the 15 miles per week I had built up to, that I would need to continue with a specialized strength program. Joel was just the person to help with that. We met about once every 4-6 weeks to tweak the strength and pre-hab I was doing for my hip, with the goal of building mileage in a healthy way. This month I was able to complete the Disney Dopey Challenge (5k, 10k, half and full marathons on consecutive days) without issue. I know the strength program he helped me with was a key to building up from 15/20 miles per week to 35/40 miles per week. Thanks Joel!
Fantastic experience: I went in with a severe tennis elbow and rotator cuff pain, both on my left arm. The PT and exercises I’ve been given have helped immensely. The dry acupuncture treatments helped with the elbow issue as well. The team is excellent, professional, and sensitive to your pains and concerns.
Fantastic experience: Excellent PT experience! Once my injury was diagnosed, exercises were specifically tailored to strengthen tissues surrounding the injury sight to help stabilize the area allowing it to heal.
Fantastic experience: Mission Move is great! I’m a cyclist, and went in with nagging pain in my left quad and calf after every hard ride. Dr Joel, the owner of Mission Move has a knack for figuring out what’s going on with you, and how he can help you work through it. After a couple of sessions and some homework, I begun to feel better and the nagging pain is pretty much gone. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Dr Joel is 5-star. I came to Mission Move for an ongoing neck/shoulder issue (exacerbated by my desk job) that was accompanied with disturbing nerve issues (numbness, coldness) in my arms and hands. I was no newbie to physical therapy, and I chose Mission Move over other options that took insurance because I really wanted some serious focused attention for my issue. Dr Joel spoke to me personally on the phone first and then I came in for a consultation. I really felt like he heard me and wasn’t rushing. He is also an incredibly nurturing, healing person to be around, on top of his expertise. I ended up taking a different route than I expected with my pt journey, and discovered new ways of managing my issues. He also helped me realize that I was stronger than I thought, which is huge, because I’ve always been afraid of hurting myself. Highly recommend Dr Joel— he has the experience, training, wisdom, and spirit for helping people live their most mobile lives.
Fantastic experience: In August of 2020 while in my later 40's, I tore my ACL. I found Mission Move in my research for a PT. My surgery was a success but my knee was very tight and weak. As background, I've been an age group level endurance athlete that mainly competed in triathlons (sprint, olympic, half ironman). I was concerned about losing my ability to exercise as I had heard many horror stories about ACL tears. Joel and Jessica focused on building strength in my legs. While I wanted to be back to my previous shape, I struggled with any endurance exercises. I also put on 20 pounds which didn't help. Over the course of 15 months, they provided strength exercises and encouragement along with starting to push me on my endurance sports. I was completely surprised and disappointed that I could only run 2 miles at an 11:30 pace. They still encouraged me to keep pushing. Well in February of 2022, it finally came together and I could train without feeling weakness in my knee. I've lost the 20 points and brought my mile pace down to 8:00. The experience at Mission Move was so much better than previous PT experiences such as for my fractured elbow. Personal focus, attention to detail, encouragement when the progress doesn't move as fast are just a few of the areas where they excel. If you want to truly get back to an active lifestyle, I highly recommend Mission Move.
Fantastic experience: Came in with a obscure problem, which was found out to be a hamstring Tendonopathy and was helped find it very quickly. I Was not only told how to fix my issue but was told how to further prevent it and learned what each thing I was being told to do was and how it was helping. Dr. Jessica was also great at helping me with any other issues I was having that popped up along the way. She was very able to break things down and locate the source of my injury as well as explain it to me. As someone who is very into lifting and athletics it was nice that she had a great background when it came to lifting and athletics so that she understood what was occurring in my training. Very nice people at mission move, greatly recommend.
Fantastic experience: As I was training for a marathon I developed ankle pain that remained ongoing through the weeks after the race. I met the Mission Move staff at Big Peach run club and chose their practice because I knew they were runners as well. The physical therapy sessions were extremely helpful and the staff was very efficient on targeting the problem and finding a solution. I am very happy with the progress I made and will visit Mission Move for any future injury I may have!
Fantastic experience: Mission Move has greatly helped me recover from back injuries sustained during CrossFit. They showed me proper exercises that expedited the healing process and strengthened muscle groups to reduce chances of future injury. It is friendly environment where the focus on helping the patients overall health
Fantastic experience: I met with Joel to help me prepare for a 130 mile gravel bike race in middle Georgia. Joel set me up with an initial bike fitting and we worked together to create a mobility and strength program to set me up for success. With the help of the program, I was able to reach my goal and complete the race! Definitely appreciate all the help and effort from Joel in getting me across the finish line.
Fantastic experience: So grateful to Joel for getting me back to doing what I love. Had terrible rotator cuff pain and limited range of motion on my right side. I saw noticeable improvements after every session. Highly recommend to anyone who is wanting to keep moving!
Fantastic experience: This place is fantastic! I went to see them with some chronic shoulder issues that have bothered me for years and had flared up after a recent fall. (FYI - I'm 58 years old) I was given some exercises that had me feeling better in a few days. Over the course of six sessions over ten weeks, I progressed from just reducing the pain, to being pain free and working on regaining the strength in my shoulders. My shoulders feel better than they've felt in a couple years, and I'm continuing to improve. The thing I really liked was they were able to get beyond "physical therapy" and touch on physical training, which has really made me a lot more confident about my shoulders and (hopefully) provided me with exercises that will help prevent re-injury in the future. Another great thing about this practice is they are more than willing to discuss any other issues or concerns you have (not just the injury that initially prompted you to contact them). I told them that I was having trouble getting up and down from the floor and they gave me an exercise (the "Turkish Getup") to improve that. It was really helpful to the point that I don't really think about getting up and down anymore. That alone is like being five years younger! I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to go back if I need physical therapy in the future.
Fantastic experience: Mission Move has helped me remain active and injury free for over 2 years now. Go see them before you get injured - it's a better option than surgery. The combination of soft tissue therapies such as massage and dry needling help with recovery; the workout plans continue to strengthen and improve all areas of my life. Each year, they help me set new performance goals and then partner with me to achieve them.
Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Eaby for shoulder pain. He is extremely knowledgeable and personable. The exercises he gave me were easy to understand and do on my own, especially using the app. Within a few months, my shoulder pain was much improved and I was back to doing my normal routine. I highly recommend Mission Move and Dr. Joel Eaby!
Fantastic experience: I started with Joel when I had knee pain and I've continued seeing him to stay ahead of potential issues. Joel is *so* knowledgeable, pragmatic, and kind! He's a great partner in maintaining my overall health and wellbeing. I recommend this PT practice to everyone I know (and don't know!)
Fantastic experience: I was having hip and lower back pain when I went to see Joel. It was impairing my ability to just sit, let alone work out the way I wanted to. Joel does a great job of listening to your concerns, educating you, involving you in the choice of exercises, and making sure you are the focus of therapy (one to one sessions, which is different from most other adult PT providers). I have much less discomfort now and appreciate that I can go back anytime when I need to!
Fantastic experience: I went to see Dr. Joel after having incredibly uncomfortable tightness and dull pains in my back after riding on my Peloton bike 3-4 days a week. Joel showed me some relaxing exercises and stretches to help alleviate the pain. He also asked me to take a video of myself riding the Peloton and after watching the video, he provided me with suggestions how to adjust my posture on the bike which made a huge difference. As a cyclist, he was able to provide specific feedback on how to ride comfortably and safely without putting stress on my back. What I love about Dr. Joel, he provides solutions to ease discomfort as opposed to a quick fix that doesn’t last long. I’m grateful I went to see him. Also, he has probably the cleanest best smelling physical therapy office I’ve ever been in! Thanks Dr. Joel!
Fantastic experience: Joel and team were amazing from the initial interaction! I came in as a runner that had been sidelined with a nagging injury. After following Joel's plan, I was back on the streets training for my next race. I would recommend them without a doubt!
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Joel Eaby's Mission Move practice. I came to Dr. Joel as a 60 yr old triathlete who was unable to run because of pretty constant achilles/lower leg pain. After just a few sessions with Dr. Joel where he introduced me to and walked me through strengthening exercises not only for my lower legs but for my whole leg to reduce some of the pressure on my Achilles the pain has dissipated dramatically. He recorded the exercises in an easy to use app so I now have them to refer to .This and some manual massage and dry needling to release bound up muscles did the trick. I'm back running easy 3 x a week and am very pleased. Next I'm going to have him work on this achy right shoulder of mine so I can keep on swimming :). p.s. I had seen another PT for this issue months ago and got some temporary relief but no where near the hands on " let's get you moving again " spirit of Dr. Joel
Fantastic experience: Joel worked with my on my running technique (after a few months of resolving issues due to a pinched nerve). I tried the new running technique during a 5k Saturday, a 6-mile run Sunday, and my 2.4ish-mile loop this morning. I averaged a 7.37 for the 6-mile run. The increased cadence and pushing back through my stride felt a bit too fast. I was worried I’d run out of gas, but I didn’t. Final mile had a climb of 102 feet, and it was my 4th-fastest split. This morning I PR’d my loop run at 18:16, averaging a 7:31 with negative splits. Definitely seems to be something to this technique. It’s smoother—doesn’t feel like I’m planting my foot as much or bouncing like I was—almost like it’s more compressed.
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed working with Joel. He's a very positive and upbeat individual. The exercises and care I received were specifically designed for me and what I needed. I didn't have a specific injury, but some chronic lower back and hip pain that was preventing me from being as active as I would have liked. We worked on making those areas stronger. My husband was impressed with the exercises I was assigned and is thinking of making some appointments for himself in the near future.
Fantastic experience: I have a habit of rolling my ankles and I decided I had enough. I hoped that with a physical therapist, that I could strengthen my legs and ankles to keep me from rolling and allow me to keep up with my kids. Well, it worked, I now can tell when I am stepping incorrectly and have some muscles memory now to correct any misstep. I so enjoyed working with Dr. Joel Eaby. I learned a lot about balance and now have the tools I need to build strength and protect myself from injury.
Fantastic experience: I had been seeking treatment for my knee problems for several years, but none of the treatments I had endured had produced anything more than temporary relief. On the recommendation of a personal trainer, I went to Mission Move. After thoroughly reviewing my knee pain and treatment history and assessing my mobility and physical limitations, Joel designed a treatment that relieved my knee pain and helped me regain strength and mobility. Now I can squat down and get that pot from the back of the bottom shelf! I have confidently referred friends and members of my family to Mission Move and would recommend them to anyone seeking exceptional care.
Fantastic experience: Joel is an excellent therapist. He helped me with my lower back issue. Each week he would show me exercises to help build up the back muscle. It was so helpful to work with an expert and learn the proper form of the exercises. Part of my issue was that I was exercising but not using good form. Joel was so helpful and my back is no longer hurting. Also he is a great person overall and very easy to talk too.
Fantastic experience: I chose to see Dr. Joel Eaby for physiotherapy following my hip replacement and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Joel is upbeat, cares about his patients’ recovery and provides customized treatment plans. He has a great personality and there was never a dull moment—he is highly skilled, patient, very professional and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch physiotherapist dedicated to providing the best possible treatment.
Fantastic experience: Nine years ago, I had a total hip replacement on my left hip. As part of the recovery I went to see a PT who was included in network through my corporate insurance. I refer to that PT as a “doc in the box” considering my experience with them was very routine and generic. I was one of several patients churning through exercises at each visit. The PT gave me an exercise then walked over to the next patient, leaving me there to wonder if I had correct form. After going 2 days a week for 4 weeks, the box was checked and that was it for my appointments! Fast forward, my flexibility is very limited on my left side and has hindered certain day to day activities. Just one year ago I had a total hip replacement on my right hip. This time it was an anterior approach which I had faster recovery with, but the biggest difference for me with recovery had to do with the Physical Therapist I saw. I started to see Dr. Joel Eaby about a month after surgery and at the first appointment we discussed my history, where I was currently at and what my goals were. From that point on, he was very instrumental in ensuring that I got stronger, improved my flexibility and I was able to return to performing some basic skills. Through my one-on-one appointments, he provided complete attention to make sure I was doing the stretches and exercises correctly, and he gave me time to ask questions and discuss my progress. I have enjoyed using the mobile app that has my “homework” to work on in between appointments. Joel has been committed to my recovery and he cares about my progress. He has worked on my left hip as well however due to the poor quality of my PT sessions years ago, there isn’t as much that can be done at this point however, he still gave it attention. I wish he would’ve been my PT for my left hip; there is no doubt I would be in much better condition all around! With my right hip I have seen great results through improved flexibility and strength and I’m confident this will continue. I am very pleased with the outcome of my sessions and would highly recommend Dr. Eaby to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Joel has helped me so much since I started going to him for PT. After a back injury, I was struggling with constant shoulder/back/chest tension and didn’t feel good working out or playing tennis. Dr. Joel spent a great deal of time learning about my history, daily habits and workout routines to recommend some stretches and workouts. I chose Mission Move because it’s right down the road from me and I am so glad that I did. I am back to working out and playing tennis even more so than I was before I started PT. I highly recommend Dr. Joel, he’ll get you moving in the right direction!
Fantastic experience: A few months ago I couldn't walk or stand and was in extreme pain due to a sciatic nerve issue. I called Joel Eaby at North Point Physical Therapy and he took the time to talk to me over the phone and gave me some tips to help relieve the pain through extension protocol. I was able to see him the same day and he spoke with me in depth about what was going on and how to get better. By the next day I was up and walking again and the pain had subsided. I went back multiple times for therapy sessions and it has been amazing. Joel has me on a workout routine that is designed to strengthen my back and get me back on track. Joel is a great guy and easy to talk to about what your issues are. He's very attentive and professional. The NPPT facility is also top notch, and a great place to get one on one therapy and physical training. I highly recommend anyone needing physical therapy to see Joel. The first day I saw him I was unable to stand or walk. Without any pain medication or chiropractic/medical treatment I'm feeling a million times better and on track to being back to my old self!
Fantastic experience: Whether you're recovering from an injury, rehabbing from surgery, suffering the effects of time, or wanting to improve athletic performance, Dr Joel Eaby is amazing! He takes the time to listen to your issues and goals, accurately diagnose the problem, and create the best treatment plan for each individual. He genuinely cares about making people feel and move better, is extremely knowledgeable, and stays up-to-date on the latest techniques. He also has a fantastic bedside manner and is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Joel for any and all PT needs!! You won’t regret it!!
Fantastic experience: After 3+ months of neck pain that wouldn't subside, my physician suggested physical therapy for postural issues. The private practice, individualized attention you receive from Joel is great. Now pain free again with a pathway for maintaining better posture going forward. Would highly recommend Joel.
Fantastic experience: Early last summer, I started having terrible pain in my groin whenever I ran. I took a couple months off from running but the pain still persisted. I started seeing Joel Eaby at North Point Physical Therapy in August. He patiently kept seeing me and assigning exercises week after week and month after month. Progress was slow, but he persisted. Finally, the work started to pay off, and was able to start running again after working with him for several months. By January, I was back to running several miles a day and was even able to run a 5k road race. I would definitely recommend Joel for any running related issues!
Fantastic experience: I went to Joel for physical therapy after breaking my collarbone in July, 2017. Joel took whatever time was necessary to understand the nature of my injury, my treatment from doctors, and my desire for rehabilitation before discussing options. He had a good grasp on the type of rehabilitation needed for my injury. As we went through the various therapy sessions, Joel explained the different expertise’s he was puttin me through, the effect each would have in speeding my recovery, and what I needed to do between visits. I had a good understanding of what was expected of me. Now that I am almost 9 months from my accident, my mobility has returned to 100% or better. Joel is very good at what he does and I would highly recommend him for physical therapy in the future.
Fantastic experience: Dr Joel Eaby is by far the best physiotherapist I have seen. I have seen him for two different problems and achieved great results with his unique one on one approach. He genuinely cares about his patients and I would highly recommend him before you consider any surgery.
Fantastic experience: Joel helped get my shoulders back to normal function and most importantly, helped stopped my shoulder pain from recurring. Pain can be very deceptive and it’s great to have a local pt whose diagnosis you can trust. He won’t have you coming back again for more than a few visits unless it’s for a serious injury or chronic condition.
Fantastic experience: Age-related back problems led me to search for a way to aleve my pain that did not incude medication or surgery. This was my first experience with physical therapy. Joel Eaby has been a great source of information and encouragement. His training and the exercises he prescribed for me to continue at home have increased my mobility and have given me confidence that I don’t have to live with pain.
Fantastic experience: I've had knee pain that has steadily gotten worse since I was 19 (I'm 38 now). Joel was able to identify my problems and get me on track to pain free mobility in four visits. I'm starting to run again after years of thinking I never would. I'm an occupational therapist and would attest to Joel's expertise in rehabilitation... he is a cut above the rest! I really appreciate how strategically he plans your treatment so that each visit gives you a big step toward recovery; no time is wasted with Joel!
Fantastic experience: Joel was great! I came in with some numbness in my toes and lower leg. He quickly diagnosed the issue and suggested some exercises and changes to my weight training exercises. After a couple of weeks, my symptoms improved substantially. I recommend Joel highly.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Joel! A great guy with an amazing depth of knowledge.
