Moravian University opened the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in 2016.
Moravian University opened the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center, located at 1441 Schoenersville Road, in 2016. The 43,000+ square-foot building is the home of the University’s Master of Science in Athletic Training program, Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT), Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs —positioning Moravian University as the only college in the country to house these five programs under one roof. 10,000 square feet of the building is designated for St. Luke’s University Health Network, where their top-notch care providers are already rehabilitating area athletes and community members with cutting-edge equipment, including extracorporeal shockwave therapy, blood flow restriction, class IV LASER, and an anti-gravity treadmill. The building is a physical embodiment of experiential learning and interprofessional education. The facility includes active classrooms, multiple specialty labs, student collaboration areas, a distance- learning classroom and more than 20 faculty offices. The entry-level occupational therapy master’s degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. ACOTE’s telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA and its web address is www.acoteonline.org. Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure. Students must complete Level II fieldwork within 24 months following completion of the didactic portion of the program.
