CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Best medical professionals! I had the best experience with my surgery and recovery.
Fantastic experience: I'm seeing Max in the physical therapy area and am floored by how knowledgeable he is. It's obvious he has adopted a lifelong learning approach to his career, and he is also an excellent teacher. If you want to quickly resolve your injury and also understand the underlying issues and rationale for your treatment program then he is your guy. I have found that understanding to be very helpful for staying motivated and positive about the rehab process. I now bring a varied list of strength, flexibility, and injury prevention questions to my sessions. I come away from every session with a plethora of highly practical gems, making significant performance, time-saving and motivational improvements to my strength and fitness routine. Max is the Andy Galpin of the Rockies. p.s. I've had nothing but positive experiences with the rest of the CU sports team too. If you have the chance to go to CU sport medicine for care you should take it :).
Fantastic experience: Dr. Bravman did an amazing job on my knee rebuild about 1.25 years ago! I had no idea after the accident if I would be able to do much if anything with that leg and can already run/sprint and have almost no limitations! The healing process went incredibly well and everyone did such a great job. My physical therapist was super kind, understanding, motivational and went out of his way to support me and help me not only recover but be inspired to continue to get and stay healthy and active and also have a positive mindset! He was a life coach, physical therapist, counselor, masseuse etc… They have all the equipment and space you could need too and even the people at the front desk were great. If I had to do this again 100% I would go with them.
Positive experience: My original review got too wordy especially in response to their response. So I'm going to make this shorter, but it's still long. I went to the center in Boulder for concussion treatment. My doctor was really nice, caring, professional ( Dr. Ballantine). She recommended I see the physical therapists there for some help. I think mainly for the tightness she found in my neck and shoulders. Anyhow, my first visit with the PT seemed good, professional. He sent me home with concussion exercises and said next time we would work on my neck.. I couldn't get in with the same PT so I had to go to a different one... He was really into relaxing via music and breathing. So no neck work. Long story short at 3rd appointment I had passive range of motion done to my neck, and a very light touching of the superficial tissue on my neck. Not engaging tissues. Not affecting my neck at all. ( aka moving skin a little)Did exercises etc.......The 4th appointment I thought for sure I would get neck work, but instead the PT talked for the session, no manual therapy, explaining his theories on relaxation(again), discussing...etc. a few minutes in the relaxation position, the music was broken, and we ran out of time, so no neck work. At this point I saw my billing and I was up to $500 for 4 PT appointments that were not manually working on my neck and shoulders. I understand the concussion exercises for balance and eye tracking, and posture exercises, but I also was expecting a neck massage of some type, maybe dry needling? Then on top of this I found out how much I was responsible for, for the doctor appointments. For 1 45 min and 2- 20 min appointments my insurance was charged $1383!!!! My responsibility was $865! I DO realize what I end up paying has a lot to do with my insurance and the contracted rates. However something is very wrong with the whole system when the medical place thinks it's ok to charge my insurance so much in the first place. The system is really corrupt and screwed up. Overall I had to cancel the rest of my appointments because I couldn't afford to keep going, and I was frustrated with the PT appointments.
Fantastic experience: Extremely high quality facilities. Best foot doctor & orthotist I've ever worked with (5+ over the past 5 years). I could not be more thankful for this team!
Fantastic experience: Shoulder pain went from 5/10 to 0/10! I saw Kimberly Cowen for physical therapy for my supraspinatus injury. She was super informative, accommodating, and professional during our sessions. I felt very safe in her hands. She also helped me seek treatment for my associated wrist injury. Overall I'm thrilled! Thanks Kim!

Fantastic experience: I have been a cyclists for many years and a good bike fit is critical to ones comfort and ease on the bike. I recently moved to Boulder and discovered through research that there are bike fittings through the CU Sports and Medicine Center. With a new e-bike purchased recently I signed up for a fitting with Pawel. This is not your typical bike fit as you would get in a bike shop. The technology and overall expertise is on another level. With the information gathered at the fitting (flexibility, strength, computer analysis) I was able to be fitted much more comfortably to the new bike. Pawel is a pleasure to work with and you can tell he really knows his stuff. We invest in our bikes and anyone who wants to get the most they can from their bikes should sign up for a fitting. It is worth it!
Fantastic experience: I did a RETUL fit with Pawel. It was a great experience. Pawel spent a lot of time evaluating my flexibility, strength and bio mechanics before I even got on the bike. He then did a very thorough cleats up fitting. I am really happy with my position on the bike after the fitting. I also like the detailed report that Pawel generated after the fitting. I highly recommend getting a bike fit from Pawel.
Fantastic experience: Everyone here has been very helpful, and I greatly appreciate the team approach to my care. My physical therapist, orthopedist, and (potential) surgeon are all under the same roof and communicating. I genuinely feel that they want what is best for me as an individual patient. I also am grateful for a sports medicine approach that wants to get me back to all of my activities rather than telling me to stop certain ones all together because of my diagnosis.
Fantastic experience: The Staff there is extremely nice & friendly. Not a long time waiting for your name to be called.
Fantastic experience: Very nice staffs and professional doctors!
Fantastic experience: The doctors and physical therapists are all caring and provide the best care. I could not praise them enough. Parking is free, but can be hard to find.
Fantastic experience: Professional and courteous, top notch care
Fantastic experience: Cool facility. Good bike fit.
Fantastic experience: Seriously incredible staff. Every physical therapist I've worked with has really known their stuff and been a pleasure to work with. Highly highly recommend them
Fantastic experience: I was a guest of Google's here. Really can't comment much.
Fantastic experience: I went in for a bicycle fit with Charles Van Atta, my second fit on a new bike. Charles does a great job of working with the client to get the most out of cycling using scientific methods and a deep understanding of the mechanics of bikes. He quickly took an ill fitting bike with a rider that was having a hard time explaining what felt wrong and made it feel like a old favorite.. I highly recommend the CU Sports Performance clinic and Charles to anyone serious about cycling who wants to improve their on-the-bike comfort and performance.
Fantastic experience: Amazing professional facility
Fantastic experience: Great PTs. Only issue is you need to book your appointments a month in advance. They seem to always be full the current week.
Fantastic experience: Jenny and the other staff are timely, professional and have been great at getting my knee shots approved and performed and the physical therapy staff were great at working on my neck and shoulders when I had my cervical hernias. Can't recommend the entire Dept enough.
Fantastic experience: Thought I broke my ankle and needed xrays. Called in after a dr note was submitted and I was in and out with results within 24 hours. Great experience and I paid out of pocket - very reasonable and easy to do. Recommend to everyone!
Fantastic experience: Great doctor's and physical therapists

Fantastic experience: Beautiful
Fantastic experience: Just simply the best, courteous, expert medical care that I have ever enjoyed.
Fantastic experience: Needed a PAO surgery. Was very nervous. Dr. MaiDan and his staff were wonderful. They are truly the best.
Fantastic experience: It is top class in every way.
Fantastic experience: The Best inside the Boulder Bolder Bubble-verse. Dr. McCartey, Dr. Bravman, Dr. Meron, Dr. Kingston, dr. Park and PA Keri are very good at what they do. As is, Nurse or NA Alice, and Sarah at reception. However, Google Bobble Heads, would you relocate to Colorado Springs? Guess not. Oh well, would you share the roads with cyclists? Hope so. And, with Jaywalkers? Thank you so much. Please support The Access Fund Hart CPT

Fantastic experience: State of the art facility. Really amazing.
Fantastic experience: Nothing but great things to say about this facility and staff. I've seen Dr. Hunt for my foot/ankle and recently Dr. Bravman completed a complex meniscus repair on my right knee. Both of these surgeons are world-class, highly educated and well-trained. They understand young athletes and aging athletes alike - and they understand wanting to get back to your sport as quickly as possible. Nothing compares to having a surgeon listen, understand, and help you to move forward. To note: both of these guys leave their ego at the door - they are professional, personable, and just nice guys. The facility speaks for itself. Well-designed, incredibly clean, bright, and welcoming. My MRI was the easiest I've had (comparing to 12 other experiences). The PT staff is top-notch and you are able to see multiple therapists based on your schedule - they actually communicate with each other and provide continuity of care. I am a huge fan and will continue to be a patient for all of my injuries moving forward.
