Deconditioning is the loss of function following a period of inactivity or decreased demand on a specific body system. At RISE Physical Therapy, we help individuals that have experienced a wide variety of events that may cause deconditioning. Our unique approach to reconditioning treatment involves fun, functional exercises to help patients enjoy the reconditioning process. At RISE, we build on Gary Gray’s powerful quote to help patients achieve improved balance throughout their journey of self evolution. Balance training benefits patients by decreasing fall risk, developing confidence in daily activities, increasing energy efficiency, reducing likelihood of injury, eliminating consequences of compensations, and increasing speed, strength, and power during athletic activities.

Not every patient at RISE is being treated for a musculoskeletal disorder. Many of our patients have had a disruption to other systems in the body and need help returning to the activities they enjoy. We help these individuals function optimally by challenging their bodies in safe, fun, and functional tasks. Some common non-orthopedic disorders that can be benefitted by physical therapy and neurological rehabilitation are Parkinson’s disease, CVA or “stroke”, pinched nerves, Multiple Sclerosis, headaches or migraines, and vertigo or dizziness. Learn more about RISE Physical Therapy, browse our staff profiles, or contact us today!

We offer a total body biomechanical assessment to all of our patients. Basically, we will evaluate you from your toes to your nose. Regardless of your diagnosis or injury, we will seek to identify both the source of the pain and the underlying cause(s). This unique approach to holistic function was developed by Gary Gray (the Gray Institute). It allows our therapists to serve our patients not only in the short term, but to guide them with principles, strategies, and techniques that will benefit their long term health.

Working with children and young adults is one of the many wonderful privileges we have as active members of the San Diego community. Not only do our therapists and staff create a fun and welcoming environment for our younger patients, but most of us are big kids ourselves! Our therapists have extensive experience working with all levels of pediatric injuries including ankle/knee sprains, growth plate fractures, low back pain, shoulder instability, and tendinitis.

Negative experience: The therapists excellent help me a lot. But office procedures need some work. after one appointment, I was unable to make my copayment, so I had to come back and make that later. So I came back and made my co payment and canceled all future appointments. I informed them I would reach out to schedule future appointments as needed. Today, I was charged $90 and I can't reach them to understand why and get a refund. This is the encinitas location.

Fantastic experience: Nick Boyol was my physical therapist who completely fixed my shoulder. In the beginning I could not give a hug and now I have full range of motion. He is very knowledgeable and every session was customized and pain free. I also loved that the first 1/2 hour was a deep massage - so relaxing. Nick is also a good conversationalist who will explain why/how the movement is being applied so I could repeat it at home. The office is friendly and well run- no waiting at your scheduled time and able to book appointments multiple weeks in advance to ensure you get the day/time you need. Great experience!

This last time with Nick was no exception. He is very experienced and knowledgable. I highly recommend RISE over other PT experiences I've had.

Negative experience: I waited over three months to get insurance approval and an appointment for physical therapy here after it being highly recommended. Once the two months wait for insurance approval was granted, the receptionist called me(so they obviously have MY number). She told me that only the first sheet of my authorization was received via fax and if I (not them) could call community care and have them resend it. Community care has a long hold time but they could have just as easily called and requested it as providers have a separate option to press. I told her that I typically get the authorization mailed to me as well and she booked me out for 4weeks later stating that was the earliest they could do. I asked to be placed on a wait list, she said sure and never heard back. I went to my appointment as scheduled and they turned me away because my authorization wasn’t received via fax. A lie. I relayed my conversation and then the person said they didn’t have a number to call me or they would have another lie. The disrespect with lies is completely unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience with Nick at Rise PT. So many of the exercises he gave me addressed my issues better than other therapists’ had. He really takes the time to understand your issues, any concerns and is also very creative with at-home equipment to simulate the things we did in-clinic.

Fantastic experience: Nick was my PT and he was fantastic. So often I have been to PT and been given exercises to do at home and when I would go to an office it was just more of the same. Nick was always changing it up based on the previous days issues. I had a knee replacement and he would not only provide guidance for strengthening my knee but also provide pain relief when I was having problem. I can’t recommend Nick and Rise enough.

Fantastic experience: Has always been a great experience. Nick is incredible. I have had 3 surgeries in the past 2 years. A broken ankle, knee replacement and now compressed nerves in my elbow and tangled nerves⁷ in my wrist. He has been my go to for PT all 3 times. He's always professional and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend him should you find yourself in need of first rate pysical therapy.

Fantastic experience: Robin Warden at Rise Carlsbad location is amazing. Her experience, knowledge and care led to great strides in my recovery. She examined each visit and used this to adapt my therapy to my needs. Rise Carlsbad had all the equipment needed for my stretches and exercises.

Fantastic experience: While I have never been to Rise, Katie D'Amato has been my therapist for over a year and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I had a series of complicated injuries and she has helped me work through them, both mentally and physically. She is knowledgeable about her subjects: PT, anatomy, and injury recovery; but she is also fun to chat with - which can make some of those painful exercises you do in rehab a little less miserable. She always went above and beyond my expectations, by providing more information, trying different techniques, and even spending more than the allotted time to work on injuries (for example if the next patient was late). With Katie, you know that your health and recovery is always a priority.

RISE Physical Therapy

Joshua,Katie's knowledge and treatment style has been such a welcome addition for us. Thank you for your review!

Fantastic experience: I had the great pleasure of having Katie D'Amato as my physical therapist after shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff. Katie was referred to me by one of her clients who went to her for some nagging running injuries. Katie walked me through every step of the recovery process and was very knowledgable about my post-operative care. Katie was able to answer all of my questions not just about my "new" shoulder, but also questions about my chronic running injuries. An avid runner herself, Katie wanted to make sure she was there for me no matter what injuries I was challenged with. In addition to her physical therapy expertise, Katie brings a unique perspective to patient care by also being a certified yoga instructor. Her unique skill set is a perfect fit for the North County Coastal lifestyle, and Katie will be the first person I call should I have any future physical therapy needs.

RISE Physical Therapy

Rod,Thank you for your kind words about Katie. She has been a gem in North County San Diego.

Fantastic experience: Katie is passionate about everything she does. Whether she is working with a patient at physical therapy, teaching yoga or training for a half marathon or triathlon, she brings her passion, knowledge of anatomy and the human body, spirituality and spunk to the table. She is a great addition to any PT clinic and I would consider myself lucky to have her help me recover from an injury or surgery. I am also determined to get to one of her yoga classes sometime soon. As a past colleague turned friend, I can attest to Katie's passion and precision in whatever she does in life. As a therapist, she cares deeply about her patients and their well being. She pushes herself to learn the newest techniques so that she can best help her patients. As a general rule, she is constantly expanding her horizons by reading and doing new things.

Amy,Katie is an all around amazing therapist and an even better person. Her knowledge of yoga and the human body has been a great addition for us. Thank you so much for your review.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at RISE Physical Therapy. Nick was an awesome physical therapist, giving me guidance to help heal my shoulder while not instructing me to stop all activities I enjoy. Fantastic experience: I had been suffering with a persistent calf strain for almost a year. Tried some other treatments that didn't work. Eventually found my way to Zachary Vano at Rise in Carlsbad, and I'm so glad I did. I was thoroughly impressed with Zac and the service he provided to me at Rise. I'm now back running and skiing, and couldn't be happier. Fantastic experience: My daughter, a dancer, became a patient at Rise for an ankle issue and she has received excellent care preoperatively as well as postoperatively. I’ve also been to Rise for back issues, as has my elderly father in law. In fact, his physician wanted to send him to another center but we insisted on Rise. And we sent my son, a tennis player, to Rise for arm and back strengthening. Clearly we are fans. The entire staff is outstanding, from schedulers to therapists. Brittany Revelle is absolutely the best physical therapist we have worked with.....and with young athletes in the family we have seen a few! Brittany is motivating, knowledgeable and a joy to be around. Her personal attention and follow-up are great. Highly recommend Brittany and Rise Carlsbad for your PT needs.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Dr Brittany Revell for the last two months for postpartum related issues (split abs, out of line hips, back pain from carrying my two now toddlers etc). I was nervous that because I had my last baby two years ago, that my issues had become permanent and I just had to learn how to cope with always having pain somewhere. I’m so glad I took a chance and tried PT and met Brittany! I can feel and see a difference in my body and feel hopeful and more confident than I have in the last two years! Brittany is so knowledgeable, yet so humble and relatable! I’ve been intimidated to work out, out of fear and lack of confidence and Brittany has made my experience fun and actually effective! I feel stronger and have learned tips on how to continue to use y body in the right ways. I genuinely enjoy seeing Dr Brittany and coming to PT-everyone there is so friendly and welcoming!! I don’t think I could say enough nice things about this facility and Dr Revell!

Fantastic experience: I started PT with Brittany at RISE and she has done wonders for my knee that I injured while dancing. I was so lucky to find Brittany as she is a fellow dancer and has so much knowledge and understanding about dance injuries. When I first started I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs without agonizing pain. She worked to strengthen my knee and my center of balance, along with other core strengthening exercises and I became so much stronger and now I have little to no pain on a daily basis. I never thought I would feel "normal" again, and Brittany has helped me recover and be able to get back to what I love to do and teach which is dance. It was bittersweet recovering, as I am so thankful for my knee being healed, but Brittany made each session very personable and I miss our sessions together. She is the sweetest and most patient physical therapist that I've ever worked with. She went above and beyond the exercises and made me feel that she really cares deeply for her patients. She is a rare find and anyone who gets to work with Brittany is extremely lucky! I am so thankful that she was my physical therapist and will be returning if I ever need PT again.

Fantastic experience: Anyone being seen by Geoff Dold is lucky. He’s treated my lower back and knee pain and is extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Not only is he passionate about what he does, but his positive outlook on an active lifestyle is contagious. He’s amazing!

Fantastic experience: Such a fabulous place and so well equipped. My daughter had physical therapy with Brittany. She was so knowledgeable on her injury and helped her get back to normal activity. Thank you Brittany.

Fantastic experience: Professional, effective and honest. I rehabbed with RISE for my total hip replacements and had amazing results. You work directly with the therapist in a friendly, welcoming environment. Thank you RISE!

Fantastic experience: Both my wife and I have seen Michael Hollstegge at the Carlsbad RISE Physical Therapy office over the last several months for different physical ailments. We both appreciate his technical knowledge, dedication and effort during each session. He leaves us with "homework" exercises and videos, which helps us maintain results in between sessions. Honestly, I think it would be hard to fine a better physical therapist and we have both been to other PT clinics. As well, he is very pleasant to interact with, so all in all, we highly recommend him.

RISE Physical Therapy

Thanks so much for the kind words, Michael! It's been a pleasure treating you and your wife.

Fantastic experience: I started going to RISE after having surgery for a torn bicep tendon. I could barely move my arm without a great deal of pain and could not lift anything with it. Brittany was my therapist and from my first day to my last she took excellent care of me. Her knowledge, professionalism, calm and positive demeanor were amazing! I went from barely able to move my arm to restored range of motion and a return to doing strengthening excercises which greatly restored my confidence. Brittany talked me through every exercise and ensured that I understood the purpose of every activity. Thank you Brittany!

Fantastic experience: We have been going to Rise Physical Therapy in Carlsbad for about a year. My daughter who is a young dancer is seen by Brittany who is amazing with her. We started PT because my daughter would have pain in her ankles all the time when she danced. Ever since we started PT with Brittany she is so much better and stronger and dances without pain. Brittany is patient and attentive to my daughter and watches her closely. She greets us with a smile! Brittany has helped with strengthening and maintenance. The staff is kind and attentive to the needs of their clients. We are so grateful to have found this PT clinic.

Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough good things about Brittany Revelle from RISE. My daughter is ballet dancer who had a knee injury that everyone was telling her would require her to quit dance. She was devastated. We signed up for PT somewhere else, and after 4 sessions she was in even more pain. She was desperate for some hope and that’s when someone mentioned Brittany to us. I took my daughter for her initial assessment with Brittany and my daughter came out grinning from ear to ear because Brittany gave her hope and inspiration that she could fix this injury and get her back dancing. With Brittany’s very careful assessment, adjustments to plan, and very tailored PT approach my daughter got better quicker than we could have every imagined. She is now dancing with no knee pain at all. Brittany didn’t just fix my daughter’s knee, she gave her the mental and emotional support to work through the challenge and believe that she could overcome this.

Fantastic experience: RISE is a fantastic organization! Their entire staff is knowledgeable, positive and friendly. Michael Hollstegge was my PT after major reconstructive knee surgery, and I highly recommend him! He kept me laughing and motivated through a very painful recovery. I had some lofty and specific goals that he helped me to achieve, including making it through a 2 week long backpacking trip through Yosemite only 12 weeks after surgery and putting lotus pose back into my yoga practice after only a few months. Movement is a huge part of my personal and professional life. I was VERY selective about who to trust to teach me how to recover from such a traumatic injury. I made the right choice with Michael!

Fantastic experience: I was so fortunate to find Brittany at RISE PT. My neck was so bad I could not read a book when I started my therapy. Eight treatments later, thanks to Brittany's dedication to her profession, I can read again without pain in my neck. She also worked on my spine to give me some hope of playing golf again. I can't say enough about her. Besides being an outstanding therapist, she is a sweet and caring person.

Fantastic experience: I have enjoyed good health with little need for medical care, including no prior physical therapy, into my seventh decade. A few months ago I suffered a significant tear in my left rotator cuff, usually requiring surgery to treat. After determining that physical therapy could benefit my condition, I was one lucky guy to become a patient of Dr. Geoff Dold. He is sincerely invested in my personal welfare. His thorough evaluation and gentle treatment skills quickly reduced my severe chronic pain to a level easily tolerated without medication. We have continued to work on building shoulder strength and mobility with the result that I have essentially full, comfortable function without undergoing surgery and all that it entails. My pursuit of an active lifestyle is once again restored. I owe a great deal of my present enjoyment of life to Geoff. He is certainly among the very best in his profession.

Fantastic experience: Having worked with countless therapist I can only say GREAT things about working with Geoff Dold and to only wish I could work with him full time . I have struggled with chronic back pain for 10years and Geoff has been the most effective therapist yet helping me manage my perceptions of pain and workouts that make me feel much better after each session and being on my own. The changes I have made with Geoff have been some of the biggest in my struggles with my lower back pain. Geoff is friendly, professional, patient, and empathetic, and amazing at what he does. I see no flaws in his approach to therapy and trust and recommend him to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I pulled/tear a calf muscle playing tennis. I’m in three leagues so the idea of a long recovery was not an option. One of my tennis friends recommended Rise and I am so glad she did. I went in right away and Michael was very helpful and knowledgeable. He knew exactly what I had done to my calf. Most would have told me to ice and rest but Michael worked on it and gave me exercise to strengthen it. I was back on the court in no time!

Fantastic experience: I have had PT in the past but no one has been as attentive and perceptive as Geoff Dold at Carlsbad RISE. I was misdiagnosed with a sprained ankle which turned out to be a fracture. Doctors suggested surgery but I opted for a cast and PT. After 6 months in multiple casts, I started PT with Geoff. He has been a life saver, taking the time to ask questions as we go and knows exactly when to start and when to stop. After a month, mobility in my ankle is returning and pain at night is dissipating. Geoff is helping to gain strength and stability back in my ankle and leg, and fear of rolling or falling has diminished. Best of all, I can finally wear the shoes I love and was told I’d never be able to wear again!! I highly recommend RISE for PT and Geoff is amazing!

Fantastic experience: We love RISE, and specifically Brittany Revell. Brittany has been a PT savior for my daughters. One, a dancer, has had years-long struggles with foot and ankle overuse injuries. Brittany is extremely thorough, understands the dancer's leg, and tailored programs to help heal her injuries and strengthen the area. She listens and constantly questions her patients to make sure she is moving the right direction and in our case, encouraged follow up imaging as she believed something else was going on. Sure enough, she was right. My other daughter has TMJ and because of Brittany, we saw huge improvement immediately. Plus, Brittany is sweet and personable, and my girls just love her.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved coming here for therapy. Brittany is AMAZING!!! I started out with so much pain and now I am pain free. She was very sweet and understanding ( I am a mother of 3). They also have a great staff, they make you feel important and like family. I highly recommend the Carlsbad location. Ask for Brittany.

Fantastic experience: It starts at the front desk, with Jennifer greeting you with a very contagious smile; she is very knowledgeable and helpful. How can you feel better when you are in pain? The answer, Brittany! She is an amazing Physical Therapist. My pain levels in my lower back and left leg have greatly reduced. My flexibility, strength and balance have increased dramatically. In the past, I went to Tri-City Hospital PT and I came out worse!!! Would I recommend RISE, absolutely! This is the best I have felt in four years. After a thorough evaluation, explanation while showing me the muscles/skeletal structures involved, I had a much better understanding of my condition. Brittany developed a step by step program to increase my strength, flexibility and agility. I worked the program and positive results followed. I highly recommend Brittany and RISE Physical Therapy.

Fantastic experience: The treatment available at this office is above and beyond what you will find anywhere. The therapists are knowledgeable, up to date on the latest techniques and dedicated to your care. Your session is with a full therapist, not aides or techs and they even make videos so you can perform the exercises at home. The staff is very professional and courteous.

Fantastic experience: Geoff Barba treated me for an ankle injury that was keeping me from my running routine. I had tried resting, massages and stretching but had no luck. During the evaluation he explained what he was doing and why. He gave me a few exercises to do at home and I saw immediate improvement, then we progressed to other exercises. I highly recommend Geoff - he's informative & personable - and most importantly he got me back to running!!!

Fantastic experience: So grateful for Rise! I've had a lot of PT in the past. I'm very picky when it comes to finding good care to address my chronic pain. The MPT (manual physical therapy) and personal attention to my recovery really seems to be helping. I'm beyond lucky to have Michael and Martin on my team. Beyond impressed by the level of knowledge, skill, and talent of the their staff who all have the doctorates. Never any pressure, their priority is my pain relief. Couldn't recommend them more!

Fantastic experience: I recently worked with the staff at RISE Physical Therapy in Carlsbad for a case of Tennis Elbow. The facilities and staff at this location are top notch and the environment is friendly and inviting. I was always asked pertinent questions about how the elbow was responding to treatment and they modified my treatment to get to the root of the problem. I like the fact that they emailed me videos of the exercises that they wanted me to do, this is much better than a piece of paper describing an exercise. I hope I do not need PT in the future, but if I do this will be my go to place.

Fantastic experience: RISE PT is an amazing place to rehabilitate the area of your body that is bothering you the most. Their philosophy is that you rehab what and where your injury is but to work your entire body. Brittany is my PT and is excellent. She works with me the entire hour which gives her the opportunity to see the progress I am making. I go to the RISE in Carlsbad.

Fantastic experience: After my broken collar bone healed, I needed to rehab my shoulder. I had no prior experience with physical therapy but I was quite pleased with working with Martin Nguyen. He was very knowledgeable and has a friendly, open demeanor which had me actually looking forward to my sessions with him. Each session was a full hour and one-on-one so I felt like I was receiving Martin's full attention throughout. The philosophy at RISE focuses on functional movement so the exercises included far more than just my shoulder. I used both the Carlsbad and Solana Beach facilities. They each have an open floor plan and a variety of equipment available. The staff is friendly and professional. In summary, I would certainly use them again if the need should arise and recommend them to friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I've recently been getting a sharp pain in my shoulder after a night out playing volleyball. It got to the point where I was afraid of hitting the ball because I knew the pain would come later. Well I finally decided that I needed to get this fixed so I could play without worrying. I was able to see Brittany and she was awesome! She ran a couple of tests on me and determined that it was due to something with the nerve in my shoulder being inflammed because of the clavicle rubbing against it or something. We worked on a bunch of different exercises to strengthen my shoulder and it's gotten so much better! I've incorporated these exercises to my workout routine and these pain flareups are pretty much gone! Thank you so much Brittany!!

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Martin at RISE for several months to help strengthen my gait, deal with plantar fasciitis, and help with balance issues due to MS symptoms. He is very organized, encouraging, attentive, knowledgeable, and has a warm and happy demeanor. Although I work plenty hard while there he is sensitive to my level of fatigue and gives me little breaks as needed. He is also skilled at resolving a frozen shoulder and neck issues that I developed by manipulating/massaging the areas of the body that are involved. I feel like I am in terrific hands with Matin at the helm! Be sure that you have good directions before you go to the Carlsbad clinic as it can be hard to find if you don't have google maps as you can't see it obviously from El Camino Real.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Dr. Rachel Litchfield before and after my hip replacement surgery in July 2018. Before the surgery, my goal was to stay as active as possible, managing the pain, and any dysfunctional movements from the pain. After the surgery, my goals were a speedy recovery, getting back to work as a fitness trainer, and hopefully back to running and walking races. I liked the combination of tissue work and movement training from RISE, and I felt it was effective. I was happy to get back to work 6 weeks after surgery. And in the subsequent year, I completed 10 races, including 2 half marathons. Thank you Dr. Rachel and RISE!

Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Michael at RISE physical therapy for the last couple of months now. He is VERY knowledgeable about the body and has really helped me both improve my strength and reduce my back pain. He has such an engaging way of working with me. If you're considering RISE I would 100% recommend you ask for Michael!

Fantastic experience: I strongly recommend RISE Physical Therapy! I started here, at the Point Loma unit, after a knee injury, which actually happened for the first time about 15 years ago, and although I have done many years of physical therapy in the past in different places, I have never been so well treated. At RISE I discovered for the first time the origin of my problem, and I have been treating not only my knee, but my body in general. As my injuries have always been related to sports, I'm “relearning” how to make certain movements, including running. I am very satisfied and looking forward to return 100% to my activities.

Fantastic experience: Michael at RISE Physical Therapy has really helped me out with many of my injuries over the years. He has worked with me on my shoulder, neck, and lower back with a much more functional approach than I was used to. He is a very knowledgeable therapist and I would highly recommend going to see him!

Fantastic experience: I selected Rise Physical Therapy (in Carlsbad) for osteoarthritis in both my knees. I chose Rachel because I train at San Diego Premier Training and this is one of their physical therapy locations. Rachel always said hi to me when I walked in the door even though she didn’t know me. She was always very pleasant and friendly when I worked out at SDPT. So when I needed therapy, of course I wanted to talk to Rachel. As a therapist, Rachel is a true professional and aware of my needs, disabilities and problems. In addition to my knees, she also determined I needed work on my hips and balance. She is very patient and never pushes me beyond my limits. She always demonstrates the exercises she wants me to perform in clear detail. She is extremely accommodating and always asked if it was hurting my knees. When I said yes, she would sit down on the ground and assist me. She was hands on at all times. After my therapy, she would always send me a video of the exercises she wanted me to perform at home. This was very helpful and a true blessing. I was able to perform them the correct way and exactly as she demonstrated on the video. Rachel is a true professional, extremely competent and a pleasure to work with. I definitely recommend R.I.S.E (Rachel) for any type of physical therapy and their skillful and experienced approach to address any type of physical related concerns.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at RISE Phyical Therapy after my knee replacement surgery. Brittany was always cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable. She used the entire hour each time dealing with my knee pain and going through exercises with me. I was never passed off to do exercises with an assistant or alone. Brittany spent every minute of my hour appointment focusing on me and my needs. And I loved that she sent me videos to show me how to do the exercises at home. This is a great place for therapy and Brittany is the Best.

Fantastic experience: "I'd like to express my gratitude for the high quality of service Martin has provided me. His reliability and great attitude are so appreciated. Unfortunately I am an "expert in the field of RECEIVING physical therapy" due to my many previous surgeries. I am so impressed with his knowledge. He has helped me more than all my previous physical therapists combined. He has been compassionate and understanding. I appreciate his professionalism and expertise in new ways to help with my recovery. Again, please accept my heartfelt thanks and gratitude. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs exceptional physical therapy care." Pamela M.

Fantastic experience: My past experience with Physical Therapy in general was not the best. It was in a group setting where I worked with a PT assistant and I'd only see the Physical Therapist at the end of the session for like 5 minutes. They would send me home with a paper listing exercises I should do between sessions. Rise PT is on another level, as an active adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competitor, I've been known to get a little beat up. Normally I try to manage my own recovery, I didn't see the point of PT because of my past experience listed above. My shoulder injury turned out to be a very complex and I was unable to rehab it on my own. It started to impact my BJJ training and my overall quality of life so I decided to give PT another chance. From the start, I was wowed by the one on one attention I received from Alex Kelso PT. He was there the entire time making sure I was doing the exercises correctly. I was especially wowed by the personalized exercise videos I received via email, it provided step by step instructions of the exercises they told me to do at home. Over the past few months, my shoulder stability has significantly improved. As a result of the top-notch care, I received by Alex and the Rise PT team I was able to compete in The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation's World Master. (the most prestigious BJJ tournament organization.) As you all can see in the picture provided I did pretty well in defending my World title. Without the Rise PT team, I would've had to sit this one out.

Fantastic experience: Mike Hollstegge has been helped tremendously with my shoulder. I pitched in college and continue to do so in adult leagues now. It puts a ton of stress on my shoulder and I'm not able to recover like I used to. Mike gave great insight on what I should be doing to speed up recovery and how to keep my shoulder in tact long term. Every time I see him, I feel exponentially better when I walk out. He has so much knowledge of the human body and anatomy, he was able to help me in my delivery as to not put as much stress on my shoulder with each pitch. Extremely personable and helpful, I highly recommend Mike and Rise PT.

Fantastic experience: I spent a good amount of time at the Solana Beach location with Rachel Nesseth, and could not be more happy. As a college athlete with chronic shin splints and stress fractures, it was imperative that I was in the best shape to prevent further injury. Rachel was patient, friendly, and pushed me in our sessions. I had spent the previous summers with other DPTs around the country, but was blown away by how structured, personalized, and seamless my experience at RISE was. Rachel gave me regimented activities to supplement my assigned workouts, and even filmed / sent videos of these exercises - explaining their use, the best form, and what to watch out for. Another unique advantage of going to RISE was that I never got tossed around to assistants as soon as I arrived. I knew that I could build on the previous session with the same DPT each time. On top of it all, everyone who works in RISE was warm and efficient, and the environment was fun - even with other patients. I made more progress in my months with Rachel than I had with any other previous plan, and continue to use the exercises, advice, etc. that she recommended in my active lifestyle. It's boasts uniquely-astounding results because it uses a uniquely efficient and proactive treatment style! In all, I highly recommend RISE - especially Rachel!

Fantastic experience: Whenever I have injuries come up I immediately get in with the therapist at Rise. They have a great holistic mentality and take there time to figure out the true cause of the injury, not just treat the symptoms. Plus, the video homework assignments they give are great reminders of what I need to be doing every day.

Fantastic experience: I started physical therapy at RISE to prepare for an upcoming ACL reconstruction knee surgery. Although I was a bit apprehensive about how active I could be with an injury, Rachel was hands down fantastic. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to physiological function and mobility (this girl seriously knows her stuff!), she is encouraging and perceptive. She tailored a physical therapy routine that was both effective and enjoyable, listening to my preferences, yet challenging me to achieve more each week. I'm in great shape and prepared for a quick recovery, thanks to Rachel. I love that RISE sends personalized videos that show exactly how to do the recommended exercises. Their facility is fully equipped and has a positive atmosphere. Mariah at the front desk makes scheduling a breeze. I would highly recommend Rachel and RISE Physical Therapy!

Fantastic experience: I HIGHLY recommend RISE Physical Therapy & particularly Kelsey Diaz, DPT. Kelsey is extremely attentive, creative & personal with her therapeutic approaches. As a former co-worker of Kelsey's I can attest to her caring & compassionate nature as well as her high energy & charismatic personality. I have seen over & over again how this level of vigilance aid in the recovery of her patients phsyically & give them emotional & mental piece of mind that they are in good hands. Kelsey is knowledgable & works extremely hard to continue to further her knowledge to better serve her patients. The functional & personalized approach that RISE physical therapy utilizes is a perfect match for those looking to enhance their current abilities & return to a dynamic lifestyle after injury!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Kelsey Diaz and R.I.S.E physical therapy! As someone who’s been to physical therapy for more reasons than I count, I truly believe the experience Kelsey and RISE offer is the best. You’re able to tell from Day 1 that she’s personally invested in your recovery, and the undivided attention she provides is refreshing. The rapport that leads to makes you want to push yourself to come back stronger and better than before! The exercises and therapy she provides are often challenging (in a good way) and can actually be fun. You’ll find yourself looking forward to you next appointment, just to see what it is she has for you that week.

Fantastic experience: This review is for the specific physical therapist Neilvon Langas. I had gone through physical therapy for my shoulder injury but it had not worked very well, it was months (5 months) of pain and frustration of not knowing how to correctly handle my injury. After just one appointment with Neil Lang I instantly felt a positive shift, he knew exactly how to explain my injury to me in simple terms (I'm not in the medical field so this was a huge help). I felt confident in knowing how to better handle my injury, after each appointment with Neil I noticed that my injured shoulder was getting stronger and stronger. It also helps that Neil is a cool guy, easy to make conversation with making physical therapy sessions go by with ease. Neil really knows his stuff, one session with him and this will be quickly observed. He goes by the notion "Teach a man how to fish and, you feed him for a lifetime". What Neil teaches is not just for the physical therapy room, it helps in everyday life. For me, it was my posture, standing tall and straight has given me confidence and less shoulder, back, and neck pain. Thanks Neil!

She is naturally compassionate for her patients' well-being and really practices what she preaches. She has helped me with exercises for my shoulder pain and Achilles' tendon.

Fantastic experience: I went to physical therapy due ongoing knee pain while snowboarding. I was glad to have been treated by Neilvon Langas, he's very knowledgeable, helpful and caring. I enjoyed my visits specially when I got to simulate boarding, making it very fun. Some of the body mechanics I was taught made me a better athlete over all. Another great quality was that he incorporated yoga into my rehab. Having yoga be part of my treatment made it easier to remember my home exercises. Neilvon is a great therapist, I highly recommend him.

Fantastic experience: I am so glad Katie D’Amato is now in North County! She’s not only a bona fide Doctor of Physical Therapy, she’s also an actual yoga instructor and competitive runner and North County local, so she’s just an all-around rock star who understands the needs, strains, pains of the athletic body, oh, yes, and how to heal it! I’m telling you, if you’re injured in North County, go find Katie NOW. If you’re not injured, maybe consider having your little brother deal you a swift kick to the knee so you can go see Katie. Just kidding. Maybe. In all honesty, I appreciate that she is active in all the same ways I am, she understands the results I hope to achieve, the personalization of the time she gives me, and her ability to look at my physical state in a very holistic fashion.
