Maintaining an active, independent lifestyle is a vital part of living in or visiting the Truckee and North Lake Tahoe area. We treat a variety of patients including community members, professional and recreational athletes, post-surgical patients, seniors, adults, and children. We help all ages and abilities reach their goals and maintain an active and independent lifestyle.

Patients most often seek a Physical Therapist, Occupational, or Speech Therapist as a result of a physician's order. The therapeutic benefits can be tremendously successful in improving a patient's health and physical abilities. At Tahoe Forest, we offer the following therapy services.

Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Using specialized skills in assessment, planning, and treatment, hand therapists work to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and/or reverse the progression of disease.

Occupational Therapists help people participate in their daily activities through the therapeutic use of common activities (known as occupations). Typical examples of occupational therapy include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, assisting people recovering from injury to regain skills for independence, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

Our inpatient department serves patients at Tahoe Forest Hospital. We provide therapeutic services for individuals during their hospitalization. We commonly treat postoperative patients who have received total joint replacements, patients with traumatic injuries, and patients hospitalized due to illness. Additionally, our team provides skilled inpatient rehabilitation services to patients at our Skilled Nursing Center to ensure they can return home safely and to the residents of the Tahoe Forest Long Term Care Center.

Our Wound Care Specialists are physical therapists who can evaluate and treat a wide variety of wounds, ranging from chronic non-healing wounds and diabetic foot ulcers to infected wounds that require sharp debridement. Each wound is handled with utmost care to best optimize healing.A course of wound care requires a physician's referral and may require treatment at our clinic 2-3 times a week for several weeks. Our services include sharp debridement, enzymatic debridement, therapeutic compression wrapping, wound vac changes, total contact casting, and skilled dressing changes.

Our outpatient clinic offers individualized pediatric occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to children of all ages with a wide variety of challenges and conditions. Pediatric therapy is structured as a “play-based” approach in a fun and inviting environment.

Rehabilitation integrates education and a multitude of manual therapies, neuromuscular re-education, movement preparation, and pain management. A typical course of treatment includes the following elements:

Many post-COVID-19 patients have difficulty returning to their normal activity levels. Tahoe Forest Therapy Services has put together a Post-COVID-19 Rehabilitation Guide that includes exercises to get you started on the road to recovery. The exercises provided can be done at home and with minimal necessary equipment. Please note: This return to exercise should occur no earlier than seven days after COVID-19 symptoms are no longer present.

Our experienced therapists are experts at analyzing movement and function to treat you effectively and efficiently. And with locations in Truckee, Tahoe City, and Incline Village, treatment is close by.
