Fantastic experience: I came to Michael with patellar tendonopathy and being unable to run without severe pain. He put me on a program that taught me how to run better and strengthen the weaknesses around my knee. I’m now back to running pain-free and approaching my pre-injury pace. Couldn’t have gone any better!

Fantastic experience: Dr. 'Tank' Tancini is literally a miracle worker! After injuring my rotator cuff, I met with him and he actually listened to what my fitness goals were and then put in the work to get me healthy again. Each visit was tailored to where I was in my recovery and it never felt rushed or as though I wasn't being heard. Just a great guy too, AMAZING athlete!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tank has helped me tremendously over the last 2+ years. I first started seeing Tank to address mobility issues in both of my shoulders (Frozen Shoulder). My front rack position, overhead position and overall shoulder strength have greatly improved. He's also helped me work on pop-up, nagging issues with my back and hamstrings. He's knowledgeable and professional and I would highly recommend him to all types of athlete.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Molly is a great Physical Therapist. I had been seeing another physical therapist and wasn't getting any relief from a lower back problem I was having. She worked me in at the gym and immediately knew what needed to be done. Through her guidance and therapy, my back issue is gone. She not only worked on me and with me, she also educated me on core strengthening. I continue to see Dr. Molly to help with strengthening my knees and hopefully get me running long distances again. I highly recommend her for your Physical Therapist needs.

Fantastic experience: I went to Dr. Tancini for what I thought was plantar faciitis but instead he found it was bursitis. He has worked with me using exercises, and soft tissue work to control my pain. I have gone from having a lot of daily pain to barely noticing it's there. Dr. Tancini is very knowledgeable and takes time to get to know you. I also see him for a nutrition program that is tailored specifically for me. I recommend Dr. Tancini to everyone I know!

Fantastic experience: I worked with Dr Tancini for a few months on my right shoulder area. I had been having pain in that area for over a year, I had tried everything I could think of to make it better. It wasn’t until Dr Tancini stepped in that the pain finally subsided. He is very professional, kind and you can tell he genuinely wants to help you! I think Dr Tancini deserves more than the 5 stars this review will give him. He will always be my go to now! Fantastic experience: Dr. Tanci is simply the best. He is about fixing your pain and getting you back in business quickly and efficiently. My shoulder and knees are feeling much better since I’ve been seeing him. He follows up and makes sure I’m doing well. His YouTube channel is packed with excellent videos on PT and recovery. He’s also treated my son’s knee and the results were quick and fantastic. If I have a body ache he’s my first stop.

Fantastic experience: I injured my knee quite badly during a crossfit workout towards the end of last year. I tried a PT that was refered by my doctor but I wasn't seeing any progress and decided I needed to try someone else. Even after the first session with Dr. Tancini I started to notice a difference, especially after doing the at home exercies he gave me, and I am now back to being able to move pain free. I think one of his biggest strengths is his sports background and his understanding of how our bodies move which means he can diagose the problem effectively and get us onto the correct path to recovery.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tancini is an extraordinary physical therapist. I recommend him highly. After major shoulder surgery and 10 months of PT, I returned to Crossfit with significantly limited ROM, mechanical imbalances, and muscle atrophy. Within a couple of months, I experienced a recurrence of shoulder pain and began to despair that I would never return to a fully functional, athletic lifestyle. Dr. Tancini changed all that. His dry needling was magic -- it almost immediately eliminated my discomfort. Dr. Tancini then prescribed a set of ROM and strengthening exercises that quickly and demonstrably improved my ROM, strength, and mechanics, and which I could actually accomplish in a normal day. But perhaps the most amazing thing to me is that he has launched me on a return to (pain free) running. I was a competitive runner decades ago, but after years of insanely high mileage, my knees were shot; I hadn't run in 12 years. Dr. Tancini assured me I did not have to abandon my preferred sport of origin -- and he has delivered! As a competitive athlete, Dr. Tancini understands the goals of people for whom normal "activities of daily living" include Olympic-style weight lifting, gymnastic movements, running, and metabolic conditioning. If those are your goals, he's your man. Plus, he's a genuinely nice guy.
Fantastic experience: Glad to now have him in Cary! After dealing with lingering back issues I knew it was time for some professional help and I sought out Dr. Michael. I was glad I did. He does a wonderful job at looking at the individual as a whole and analyzing why a person is experiencing discomfort. From there he does a great job of providing treatment to get the person out of pain AND creating movements and exercises that can be done on your own to address WHY the problems popped up in the first place. Additionally, as the name 'Ground to Overhead' implies he has a deep understanding of the needs of an individual engaging in functional exercises which is very helpful. My only regret is that I hadn't done something sooner because often times the status quo isn't a recipe for success.

Fantastic experience: I choose Ground to Overhead because it's not a corporation and his background is in sports. I couldn't of made a better decision, after 3 visits my neck is almost pain free after 2 years of hoping it would just get better on it's own. I can not recommend Michael enough. And he even has a payment plan, so if you don't think you can afford physical therapy, yes you can!

Fantastic experience: B.B.- CrossFit Athlete I went to see Dr. Tancini for a bad tendon injury to my left arm not having the strength to do many of the exercises in CrossFit. Michael evaluated my arm and through office treatments and intense physical therapy exercises my injury got better and the strength in my arm returned to normal. While rehabbing this injury I started suffering with my second bout of planter fasciitis this also is a very painful we treated the injury and the running assessment Dr. Tanciini gave me found the cause I was heal striking this was a real eye opener teaching me the correct form in running was at times frustrating but now i'm running pain free and not having pain when taking those first steps out of bed in the morning

Fantastic experience: I began seeing Mike after a shoulder injury and I am so thankful I did. 12+ weeks of PT and countless hours following the plan independently that Mike laid out for me, my shoulder is almost back to 100%. Through the process Mike's goal was to keep me in the gym and improving the capacity in which I used my shoulder. I have experienced improved scapular strength/stability, improved shoulder stability/ overhead position and honestly feel like I am moving better than I was pre injury. Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with Dr. Tancini. I sought him out when I was having trouble with patellar tendonitis - at first it was inhibiting my ability to exercise, but at its worst I couldn't even sit for extended periods without experiencing discomfort. I tried everything and nothing made it better. As an athlete, it was beyond frustrating to feel bad every single day. Michael spent time to get to know me as a person, diagnose the problem accurately, and figure out what my goals were. He laid out a realistic plan and timeline and told me how the process was going to look, which helped me wrap my head around the months-long recovery process and the method behind it. He utilized a multimodal approach that included traditional physical therapy and dry needling, and explained the science behind everything we were doing. He made me feel like we were both involved in my recovery. Even after the acute physical therapy needs were resolved, he set me up with a plan for sustaining that progress so that I wouldn't be coming back in a month with the same problem. Michael has a wealth of experience and knowledge and I would definitely go back to him again.

Fantastic experience: I have been struggling to overcome a nagging glute/hip issue caused by decades of desk work, cycling and excessive anterior rotation during my power lifts. I had been to two other PT’s and multiple massage sessions, and while I had seen some improvement, I was not able to make substantial progress. After a few sessions with Dr Tancini, I now know the root cause of my issue and the changes I need to make in my movements to correct the problem. He started by evaluating how I move and then proscribed specific strengthening exercises to build up supporting muscles while teaching me how to move properly. I feel the best I’ve felt in months and finally feel like I am on the road to putting this to bed permanently. I can not recommend him enough!

Fantastic experience: Going to Ground to Overhead was one of the best decisions I made when seeking treatment for a lower back injury.
