Be leery of providers who recommend a set number of treatment visits, without even an evaluation and initial treatment. If they claim that they can get you better and stay better free of pain, why can't they make it sooner?
A basic knowledge of spinal anatomy is very helpful in understanding the mechanical and physiological changes that cause various types of back pain. Check out our Anatomy Spinal Library for an overview of the spinal cord.
Peds, Ortho and Spine Therapy Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I had a sever spinal cord injury. Mel and his team are informative, thet help me progress, get stronger, find more balance in a clean, fun productive manner. I feel so greatful to have found them!
Fantastic experience: I feel like these therapists really listen, work, and adjust with the patient's needs! Would always recommend. Very professional and caring.
Fantastic experience: My daughter has been going to Ped’s Ortho and Spine for the last 4 years. She does speech, occupational and physical therapy. She started as a very medically fragile baby who could barely move or communicate in any way. Through the collaborative work of their amazing therapists we have seen huge growth. She is sitting up on her own, crawling, walking with assistance and communicating in ways we never imagined!
Fantastic experience: This facility is a game changer! Our son had been in speech therapy for over a year elsewhere, but 5 months after switching to Peds Ortho and Spine with Ms. Allison, he's already graduated and back on track! He has a voice now and it's all because of them. The staff are all skilled, friendly, kind, and easy to work with. And above all - they are excellent at what they do! We cannot overstate how much we recommend them!
Fantastic experience: I am currently seeing Mel at Pediatrics, Ortho, and Spine Therapy after knee replacement surgery. This is my second knee replacement. The first was a year earlier, and I went to the physical therapists associated with my surgeon. But I had ongoing issues, specifically with extension and muscle knots. I brought my concerns up repeatedly, but was always told that I was doing well and just to continue doing what I was doing, that sometimes it took awhile, but I would get there. Well it is more than a year after that surgery and I still have the issues. So THIS time I went to Mel, recommended by a friend. His philosophy was different. He focused on extension at first, with a little flexion and no strengthening exercises to start. When my knee had no problems straightening, we added more flexion exercises and added strengthening. Now that my flexion is doing better, he continues to add strengthening. It did take longer to get off the cane, but I am SO much happier with the progress my knee is making. It can straighten without issues, and, although the knee itself still feels tight (I am sure this is normal), I don't have the muscle knots and bands of tightness above and below my knee that I had in my previous experience. Another difference is that each visit, I know who is going to work with me. There are no PT assistants. I am not switched off from one PT to another. Mel seems to really know what he is doing, which is the most important. However, he is also very encouraging, happy to answer any questions, the facility is clean, and everyone is very welcoming. If I have any further need for a PT, I know where I am coming- to Mel!
