Scripps Encinitas Rehabilitation Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I have had therapy for a wide range of four different types of ailments including vestibular therapy at this location. I have yet to meet a therapist who wasn't top notch and who hasn't left me feeling hopeful, able and more confident in myself. To me, physical therapists in general walk such a thin line between medical treatment, personal trainer, and psych counselor and out of the 5 or 6 different therapists I've met from this location, each of them has played all of these parts SO well! They are supportive, comforting and skilled at their jobs. They are also good at thinking outside of the box when something isn't working for me. They have been understanding yet have kept up my momentum with their positive attitudes, making it clear that setbacks are part of the process and we will just keep working and trying new things until we figure out what works. I'm grateful to all of the therapists I've seen there and all of the recovery and rehabilitation they have helped me to achieve, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well! A big shout out to them Arti, Helen, Maxine, Kelly and Cole! Thank you guys so much! You've all made a big impact on my life for good! ????❤️????
Positive experience: Best brain injury rehabilitation in San Diego County. I traveled up from La Mesa for Speech, Physical and occupational therapies. Each therapist understood brain injury in ways no one else in San Diego has. Balance, Spasticity, swallowing, speech, motor coordination, communication disorders... Scripps Encinitas is the neuro expert! The only frustration is neurorehabilitation is lengthy and requires multiple insurance updates. Scheduling is really a problem. Making all my appointments up front helped to plan transportation and ensure continuity of care by staying with the same therapist. Sadly, scheduling is a major issue. They can only schedule two months at a time. Even if more than 8 weekly appointments were initially approved by insurance, and more approved along the way. Administrative support doesn't communicate with therapists over the course of treatment. Twice this year I've run to the end of the initial scheduled appointments, had my therapist say they'd see me the following week, only to show up and discover the office hadn't scheduled any more visits. Traumatic Brain Injury is rough. Tracking insurance approvals and appointments with a healing brain is super tough. I wish that everyone attending neuro-rehab could be tracked by the brain injury administrative scheduling. It would prevent large gaps between appointments disrupting continuity of care. I had to wait weeks to return in March and then again in June. Scheduling is all so overwhelming. That said, the front desk people are super kind and patient with my speech problems. This place is super busy. It's weird they keep adding chairs to the waiting area, basically eliminating wheelchair waiting spaces. I feel like I'm in the way with so many other people using walkers. I used to always wait in front of the restrooms, so I'd be out of the way. Now that area is also filled with chairs, so now I get to wait where the therapists gather in front of the announcements. In either location, there was no place for my caregiver to sit.
