Cognitive rehabilitation is designed to help brain-injured and cognitively impaired individuals regain functioning and compensate for cognitive deficiencies. It can help reduce further disability and address the negative, secondary responses to the situation, including loss of self-esteem and self-confidence, or depression.
Cognitive rehabilitation therapists at the Brain and Balance Center follow a system of activities aimed at reinforcing previously learned behavioral patterns, creating new patterns of cognitive activity, and enabling a person to adapt to their cognitive disability to improve their overall functioning.

Baker Rehab Group | Brain & Balance Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I would like to give the highest commendation to John K. who was my at-home PT after partial knee replacement. He is very knowledgeable, but more importantly, he understands when to push you to do just a little more, and when to ease off because it's just not a good pain day. He is caring, friendly, flexible, and professional. I was very fortunate to have him work with me. Excellent experience.
Fantastic experience: Baker Rehab Group provides the perfect combination of professionalism and excellence. Each of the therapists were not only very skilled in their specialty but also very knowledgeable and sincerely caring. We are very fortunate to have such a great facility in our area????
Fantastic experience: I had ankle surgery and currently non weight bearing. My PT John is amazing. He keeps motivated and makes me stay focused and positive. I'm thankful for his home care. Great guy and very professional.
Fantastic experience: I had a total knee replacement and feel that I was extremely fortunate that my surgeon recommended Baker Rehab Group. Monica came to my home for the first rehab session. All subsequent appointments at my home were with Jennifer. She was a great listener and gave wonderful feedback, suggestions and advice. Jennifer removed my bandages and staples with care and ease. I highly recommend Jennifer at Baker Rehab Group.
Fantastic experience: A full five star rating isn’t enough to express how grateful and pleased I am for the incredible team at Baker Rehab Group in Frederick. My mom who has multiple chronic conditions started OT and PT with them and the experience of working with the therapists helped her (us) make tremendous strides — not just during sessions but extending out on to our home and life outside. The entire staff really care about their clients, and in our experience and from what I’ve see in others, if you give 100%, they give you 200! The specialists are innovative problem solvers and helped overcome our challenges in ingenious ways that I don’t think can be matched anywhere else. The facility is never over crowded, and everyone always has a positive, encouraging and genuinely caring attitude. Good people— and it really makes a difference. I’d highly recommend Baker Rehab to anyone in need of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy, and especially, as in our case, any elderly patient.
