Kei-Ai South Bay Healthcare Center

Fantastic experience: My wife had a compound fracture of her ankle. After an operation to repair the fracture, she went to Kei Ai and spent just over a month there while recuperating. I chose Kei Ai because of the good reviews they had received, and I was not disappointed. In the time she was there, I was impressed by the safety measures that they had in place to protect everyone from Covid. I was also impressed by the Physical Therapy that she received. There is a large and well equipped Physical Therapy room. The therapies that they used seemed to be well directed to aid the healing from her injury. They were also excellent in explaining to me (her future caregiver) what they were doing and why. The food, while not what might be considered Mom's cooking, certainly had generous portions, was well balanced, and different each day. The meat tended to be a bit overcooked and everything seemed to lack spices, but I'm certain that cooking for so many from different backgrounds mandates compromises. They also offered snacks three times each day. The complex is built in a rectangle around a large outdoor patio. Many of the rooms open directly onto the patio which makes for easy access. My wife found it enjoyable to sit out there and play a board game with me. Aside from these things, what most impressed my wife and me were the people who worked there. In one month of being there, I can only remember one occasion where one of the employees was less than friendly. How they can be around people, all day, that are sick, infirm, injured, and would prefer to be in some other place, and yet always have a smile and happy greeting or word to say, never ceased to amaze me. Rarely did I pass someone without them, even though involved in some other activity, looking up from their task to give me a friendly word. Even those doing the unpleasant tasks of caring for someone, who can't care for themselves, did so with a smile and good attitude. We did find the place to be somewhat noisy, even during the nighttime hours, but in a facility with that many beds, and that much activity, in trying to care for people with so many different physical and mental problems, I think that is to be expected. My wife and I would definitely recommend Kei Ai and are thankful for their care.

Fantastic experience: I came to Kei-Ai South on September 5th after having spinal surgery. I was extremely hesitant to stay, but after conversations with the staff, I decided to stay. This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The staff is so encouraging and supportive. The employees came along side me and encouraged me to keep pushing forward to challenge my strength level. Jeff T, you have a great staff of employees, and I appreciate all of you (i.e. administrators, certified nurses assistants, physical therapists, etc.) for everything. You have to have a "heart for people" to perform the quality work Kei-Ai does and they do it well. Thank you for EVERYTHING!!

Fantastic experience: My mother was sent to Kei-Ai after a stay at Torrance Memorial. Aside from some intake hiccups, her stay there was a positive one. My mother has stayed in a couple of other nursing facilities and Kei-Ai is a world better than anything she has experienced. In fact, she has told me that she wouldn't go anywhere else. That's quite an endorsement. When reading Yelp reviews, keep in mind nobody WANTS to be at a nursing facility. If you are in the South Bay, Kei-Ai is a solid option.

Fantastic experience: My 89 year old mother with over 15 years with Alzheimer's resides here. We are of Greek-Italian ethnicity so imagine how much we care for our elderly ! After 15 years of caring for her, the task became impossible as she couldn't hold #1 nor #2. Her Neurolgist suggested in home or at a home care. After a different center for 2 years, we ended up at Kei Ai about 3 years ago. The best move ever. Super happy. I am there daily to include weekends. I know most of the staff. They are as caring as can be . I could not imagine life without them. Not perfect, but neither was I. Food is great, the place is clean and they have plenty of activities and events. Kai Ai all the way!

Fantastic experience: The facility is clean, well staffed with pleasant, polite well trained employees. The meals for the patients look to be both well cooked and delicious. The administrator, admissions coordinator and all the other administration are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Social worker (Ms April Ross) was both very knowledgeable and helpful in the overseeing and placement of my brother in a permanent long-term care facility that best suits his needs.
